UU :Sewage: (Cobalion) (QC 3/3) (GP: 2/2)

[OVERVIEW]
Cobalion's typing makes it one of the best defensive answers to common threats such as Nihilego, Jirachi, and Zarude, with its ability Justified also punishing the former for using Knock Off. Its Speed tier allows it to revenge kill Pokemon such as Nihilego and non-Choice Scarf Mienshao as well as set itself apart from other Stealth Rock setters like Jirachi and Nihilego, allowing it to pivot out of its checks and counters such as Salamence and Aegislash with Volt Switch more easily. Cobalion's Swords Dance set also stands out among other physical setup sweepers such as Aegislash and Ice Fang Gyarados by not fearing any of Amoonguss's attacks, becoming a fierce wallbreaker after Sleep Clause has been activated. Cobalion's typing has its drawbacks, though, as it is not Fairy or Flying resistant like other Steel-types, making Cobalion unreliable at switching into threats such as Hatterene and Galarian Moltres. Without Swords Dance, its offensive prowess also is underwhelming compared to its Fighting-type competition such as Mienshao and Kommo-o. Lastly, Cobalion's lack of recovery means it is susceptible to being worn down by repeated attacks and Rocky Helmet chip from Pokemon like Amoonguss and Buzzwole, while its mediocre Special Defense means even uninvested attacks from Pokemon like Rotom-W and Primarina will deal considerable damage.

move 3: Iron Head / Stone Edge
move 4: Volt Switch
item: Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
ability: Justified
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Cobalion has plenty of opportunities to set up Stealth Rock against Pokemon like Zarude and Jirachi thanks to its typing and bulk. Iron Head provides consistent damage against foes like Nidoqueen and Hatterene, while Stone Edge threatens Moltres, preventing it from removing entry hazards freely, and makes Cobalion a better revenge killer to Thundurus-T. Volt Switch is useful for helping Cobalion gain momentum against switch-ins like Moltres and giving safe entry to teammates such as Primarina. Rocky Helmet is primarily used to punish contact moves from Jirachi and Zarude, while Leftovers allows Cobalion to remain healthy while checking Chansey and non-Knock Off Nihilego.

Cobalion fits on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its role compression and ability to check to threats such as Zarude. Because Cobalion fills the role of a Stealth Rock setter, it allows teammates like Krookodile to run Choice Scarf and Nihilego to run Toxic Spikes; Krookodile deals with revenge killers like Azelf, while Nihilego handles Moltres and Salamence. Rotom-H and Moltres burn through checks like Amoonguss and Tangrowth for Cobalion and act as Defoggers so Cobalion can continue to act as a pivot. Both enjoy Cobalion deterring Knock Off and forming a VoltTurn core with them so they can provide a pivoting core for an offensive teammate like Lycanroc-D, which is also a solid revenge killer to threats such as Keldeo and Nidoking. Sylveon provides cleric support with Wish and Heal Bell while checking Keldeo and Salamence for it; in return, thanks to Sylveon's support, Cobalion is able to check Sylveon's answers like Jirachi and Nihilego more reliably throughout the match. Other Steel-types like Aegislash can pair up with Cobalion to circumvent its neutrality to Fairy and Flying, though this stacks weaknesses to Fire and Ground. Teammates such as Zarude and Azumarill deal with problematic Ground-types such as Zygarde-10% and Nidoking. Zarude is also great for its ability to check Aegislash, while Azumarill is able to revenge kill Rotom-H and Entei.

[SET]

move 1: Swords Dance
move 2: Close Combat
move 3: Iron Head
move 4: Stone Edge
item: Leftovers / Safety Goggles
ability: Justified
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Swords Dance allows Cobalion to become a more significant threat, as +2 Close Combat 2HKOes Celesteela and OHKOes Rotom-W after Stealth Rock, while +2 Iron Head obliterates Hatterene and Sylveon and hits Amoonguss, Primarina, and Nidoking hard. Stone Edge is useful for KOing Moltres, preventing free setup from Gyarados, and OHKOing other threats such as Rotom-H and Chandelure after Swords Dance. Leftovers prevents Amoonguss from wearing down Cobalion as it sets up and also makes Cobalion a more reliable check to foes such as Chansey and Zarude. Safety Goggles is an option for teams that cannot afford having something put to sleep by Amoonguss's Spore, making it easier in general for Cobalion to set up on Amoonguss.

This set is more suited towards offense and bulky offense teams as a fast wallbreaker with defensive utility. Knock Off support from teammates such as Mamoswine and Seismitoad is appreciated to leave threats like Rotom-H and Salamence vulnerable to entry hazards, wearing them down into range of Cobalion's attacks; Mamoswine also breaks through Aegislash, while Seismitoad checks both Rotom-H and Rotom-W and provides Stealth Rock support to further weaken foes such as Celesteela. Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth provide utility with Spore and Knock Off and are also able to check special attackers such as Keldeo and Primarina. In return, Cobalion is able to break through opposing Amoonguss for them so they won't have to stall each other out. Cobalion cannot break through Aegislash and Buzzwole, so teammates such as Salamence and Chandelure are options. Salamence additionally provides Defog support and checks Choice Scarf Mienshao and Kommo-o, while Chandelure has a better matchup against Hatterene; both teammates appreciate Cobalion removing Nihilego and Rhyperior. Zarude helps break through bulky Water-types like Rotom-W and takes care of threats such as Krookodile and Zygarde-10%. In return, Zarude appreciates Cobalion removing Amoonguss. Rotom-W is also a good pivot for Safety Goggles Cobalion because it lures in Amoonguss to give Cobalion easy entry and setup.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options

=============
Megahorn can be used over Iron Head to heavily damage Reuniclus, which otherwise takes advantage of Cobalion, although Reuniclus is uncommon and giving up on Iron Head means sacrificing consistent damage on threats such as Primarina, Nidoking, and Amoonguss. Shuca Berry makes Cobalion less vulnerable to being revenge killed by Krookodile and Zygarde-10%, but its use is otherwise limited. A Calm Mind set is able to bait Pokemon such as Buzzwole and give Cobalion a boost to its lackluster Special Defense. However, Focus Blast is a less reliable STAB move than Close Combat and gives Cobalion a worse matchup against Chansey. Life Orb makes Cobalion more immediately threatening, as it enables Close Combat to OHKO Mienshao without a boost and guarantees other OHKOs against Pokemon such as offensive Kommo-o with +2 Close Combat and Salamence with +1 Stone Edge. However, this leaves Cobalion much more susceptible to being worn down.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Fighting-resistant Foes** Pokemon that resist Close Combat such as Buzzwole and Galarian Slowbro are able to take advantage of Cobalion's usual lack of power by either firing back with their own attacks or using Cobalion as setup fodder. Aegislash completely walls Cobalion and can use the opportunity to attack with Shadow Ball or set up with Substitute or Swords Dance as Cobalion is forced out.

**Bulky Water-types**: Pokemon such as Gastrodon, Quagsire, and Seismitoad can burn Cobalion with Scald and block Volt Switch. Other threats such as Rotom-W, Starmie, and Tentacruel don't mind Cobalion's attacks very much and can remove Cobalion's entry hazards.

**Fire-types**: Moltres and Rotom-H target Cobalion's Fire weakness, and the former has Flame Body to potentially cripple Cobalion with a burn. Chandelure is able to switch into either of Cobalion's STAB moves and launch a powerful attack. However, Fire-types risk being KOed by Stone Edge. Pokemon that carry Fire-type coverage such as Celesteela can also threaten Cobalion.

**Ground-types**: Nidoking can switch in on either Volt Switch or Close Combat and threaten Cobalion with Earth Power, while Zygarde-10% outspeeds Cobalion and slams it with Thousand Arrows. Krookodile commonly carries Chople Berry or Choice Scarf, letting it get the upper hand on Cobalion.

**Faster Threats**: Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Mienshao and Lycanroc-D outspeed and consistently revenge kill Cobalion with Close Combat.

[OVERVIEW]
- Cobalion's typing makes it one of the best defensive answers to common foes like Scizor, Tangrowth, give a different example since most tang are AV with earthquake heavily chipping it and Nihilego. Its ability, Justified, also punishes them for using Knock Off by giving Cobalion an Attack boost. Its Speed tier makes it capable of finishing off weakened Pokemon such as Rotom-H and Mienshao.
- Its access to Stealth Rock alongside a good speed tier and utility moves such as Volt Switch means that Cobalion can make progress even against its checks and counters. like? Be more specific
- Cobalion's typing has its drawbacks, as it cannot fulfill the duties most other Steel-types accomplish like being a Fairy- and Flying- resist. This puts a bit of a strain on the building as the team now needs to make additional compensations for threats like Primarina and Galarian Moltres running Hurricane.
- Without Swords Dance, its offensive prowess is underwhelming compared to Fighting-type competition such as Mienshao and Kommo-o. The former is still able to pivot with U-turn alongside high speed but has Regenerator to offset Life Orb recoil and Knock Off, and the latter shares Cobalion's access to Stealth Rock but has a better matchup against more of the common defoggers as well as being much more potent offensively.
- Cobalion does not have reliable recovery, which means it does not appreciate switching into multiple moderately strong attacks. (name some attacks from Pokemon it is supposed to check that wear it down)
- Its Special Defensive is below average which means even uninvested hits from Pokemon like Sylveon and Rotom-W will deal a good amount of damage to Cobalion.

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
- Cobalion has plenty of opportunities to set up Stealth Rock between its typing, bulk, and speed tier to help wear down foes like Nidoqueen. (this feels odd since its sorta unclear how it has plenty of opportunities? It could be reworded to- Thanks to cobalion's bulk, typing, and speed tier, it can set up Stealth Rock against.....)
- Close Combat somewhat makes up for Cobalion's middling Attack stat but this should be preserved to finish off weakened or frailer targets as its low PP can be stalled out in long term games.
- Volt Switch is the most consistent option for Cobalion. It (fluff) is useful for helping Cobalion gain momentum against pivots it cannot threaten as much like Amoonguss and Celesteela and bring in teammates that can, such as Rotom-H and Chandelure
- Taunt is a decent alternative with its good speed tier. It stops Mew from setting up Spikes, prevents Scizor from healing off damage from Close Combat with Roost, halts Tangrowth and Chansey (chansey doesn't want to stay in on cobalion since it dies to CC, not to mention few run twave. It looks better to cut it out) from crippling Cobalion with status, and keeps it from being a setup opportunity by the likes of Clangorous Soul Kommo-o. However, Taunt does not have as much consistent utility as Volt Switch and Cobalion is not a reliable against many of the tier's Defog users like Rotom-H and Salamence
- Thunder Wave is able to cripple Cobalion's usual checks such as Aegislash and Salamence, but it gives Cobalion a worse matchup against Rotom-W and Rotom-H the Rotom-formes.
- Chople or Shuca Berry can be used as it helps Cobalion get the upper hand against foes it would otherwise fall to one on one like Lycanroc-D and Choice Scarf Diggersby. Krookodile (I like krook here since its much more common and standard)
- Rocky Helmet is primarily used to further punish Scizor but has occasional other uses such as chipping Jirachi and Tapu Bulu.
- Cobalion runs maximum Attack and Speed investment to revenge kill weakened targets like Thundurus-T and OHKO others such as Zarude and Mamoswine.

Paragraph 2
- Cobalion fits on offensive, bulky offense, and balance teams that appreciate its capability of acting as a buffer to Scizor and the common Grass-types: Zarude, Tangrowth, and Amoonguss. These teams also like Cobalion's speed tier and utility it compresses. (see amoonguss point below)
- Because Cobalion fills up the role of a Stealth Rock setter, this opens up teammates like Krookodile and Nihilego to run other options such as the former's Choice Scarf set and the latter's Meteor Beam set. Krookodile can provide reliable Knock Off support to help wear down Cobalion's checks (mention some), and Nihilego handles Moltres and appreciates Cobalion checking Scizor and revenge killing Azumarill.
- Sylveon is an amazing cleric supporter for Cobalion, as it patches up its lack of recovery with Wish and heals any status with Heal Bell. Cobalion also heavily appreciates Sylveon handling threats such as Keldeo and Salamence. In exchange, Cobalion is reliable at switching into threats such as Scizor Amoonguss (amoonguss keeps coming up and it feels off to read since we are under the assumption something has been sacked to sleep when that isnt a guarantee, making cobailion not a great answer to amoonguss. Try to find something else or reword to better fit it) and Nihilego.
- Gastrodon is a good partner as it appreciates Cobalion's ability to pivot on the Grass-types. Likewise, Cobalion appreciates Gastrodon checking non-Toxic Rotom-W and Rotom-H soft checking other threats like Keldeo and Lycanroc-D.
- Defoggers like Rotom-W and Moltres have good type synergy with Cobalion and keep hazards off so that it can continue to act as a pivot for longer. Both enjoy cobalion acting as a Knock Off absorber. They also have access to Volt Switch and U-turn, respectively, so they can help create a VoltTurn core with Cobalion to help bring in frailer threats like Lycanroc-D as well as bring each other in on Pokemon they can threaten. (I reworded the momentum bringing point to tie it in to VoltTurn teams, this is just my way of doing it but try to aim for something that explains it like mine if you dont like my wording)
provide more momentum for an offensive teammate like Lycanroc-D, and both enjoy Cobalion deterring Knock Off.
- Other Steel-types like Aegislash can pair up with Cobalion to circumvent its lack of Fairy- and Flying- resist, and they appreciate Cobalion providing an even more solid backbone against the Grass-types so they do not risk sleep or being overwhelmed. However, this stacks a glaring weakness to Fire- and Ground-type attacks, so it is wise to be conscious about covering that when building.

Paragraph 1
- Swords Dance alleviates Cobalion's issue with strength, as it helps muscle through Amoonguss and Tangrowth rather than continuously relying on Volt Switch to bring in a teammate to threaten them for the majority of the game and helps Cobalion preserve Close Combat PP for bulky targets. (arent these the bulky targets you want to preserve your PP for? It seems weird to say that it saves CC PP when this is the time to use it). Cobalion can get these Swords Dance opportunities against common threats like Scizor and Amoonguss after a teammate was sleep foddered. (I'd change the amoonguss example to something else since this can apply to most set up sweepers, maybe something like Zarude instead)
- +2 Close Combat enables Cobalion to 2HKO targets such as Celesteela and OHKO Rotom-W after Stealth Rock, while +2 Iron Head shatters Hatterene and Sylveon.
- Stone Edge is the choice of coverage as it prevents Cobalion from being walled by the likes of Moltres and Chandelure and giving free setup to Gyarados.
- Chople and Shuca Berry help Cobalion from being revenge killed by faster threats such as Choice Scarf Krookodile and Mienshao, as well as Zygarde-10%. Chople also helps Cobalion set up by letting it take Focus Blast from Reuniclus. (cobalion doesn't exactly want to set up on reuni regardless since +2 Iron head is only a 3HKO for the common CM variant, while it still KOs when landing another blast. I advise to take it out)
- Life Orb can be used to make Cobalion more immediately threatening. For example, it enables Cobalion to OHKO Mienshao without a boost with Close Combat. It also guarantees OHKOes it might have fallen short on such as against offensive Kommo-o with +2 Close Combat and offensive Salamence with +1 Stone Edge .

Paragraph 2
- This set is more suited to more offensive teams that want their Swords Dance user to not be frail like Lycanroc-D, but want more natural speed than Scizor. (wording kinda feels weird to read, just say it fits on offensive teams as a fast bulky set up sweeper)
- Hazard setters such as Seismitoad and Shuckle are appreciated. Seismitoad is able to use Knock Off to wear down Cobalion’s checks, and Shuckle provides Sticky Webs support so Cobalion can worry less about being revenge killed and not worry about speed ties with Keldeo..
- Cobalion cannot break through Aegislash so teammates like Zarude and Rotom-H are appreciated. Additionally Zarude can handle Water-types like Seismitoad and Milotic, whereas Rotom-H can pressure Amoonguss, Celesteela, opposing Steel-types and Buzzwole.
- Amoonguss and Tangrowth have offensive utility with Spore and Sleep Powder, respectively, and the ladder latter even provides Knock Off support (mention how cobalion likes knock off support like removing leftovers from steela). Assault Vest Tangrowth and Amoonguss are also able to check special attackers like Raikou and Primarina.
- Offensive Water-types like Primarina and Keldeo are able to help Cobalion wear down Celesteela into range of +2 Close Combat and put pressure on the Fire-types. They also enjoy Cobalion leaving Amoonguss and Tangrowth worn down for their own attacks later on.

=============
- Leftovers is usable as it makes up for Cobalion's lack of recovery, especially with its quadruple resistance to Stealth Rock. However, Cobalion does not make as good of Leftovers as Chople, Shuca, or Rocky Helmet, especially as Cobalion is likely to serve as a Knock Off absorber for the team. switch into Knock Off.
- Occa Berry is more usable on the Swords Dance set as it helps Cobalion set up in front of Rotom-H and non-Choice Specs Chandelure though this is still fringe compared to Cobalion’s other item options.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Bulky Water-types**: Pokemon such as Suicune and Milotic do not care much for Cobalion's utility set, and others such as Gastrodon and Seismitoad even block its usual Volt Switch. Tentacruel and Starmie resist both of Cobalion's STABs; Tentacruel is able to keep off hazards set by Cobalion and Starmie outspeeds and threatens Cobalion with Hydro Pump. Quagsire is a particular thorn in Cobalion's side because it has Unaware to shrug off even Swords Dance boosted attacks. All of them often carry Scald to potentially ruin Cobalion with a burn. (way too many examples, I would just kept it to seismitoad, gastrodon, quagsire, and maybe starmie, since the rest get volted on into something that beats them)

**Fire-types**: Moltres and Rotom-H target Cobalion's weaker Special Defense and the former latter has Flame Body to potentially cripple Cobalion with a burn. Chandelure is able to switch into either of Cobalion's STABs and launch a powerful attack or set up Substitute. This extends to Pokemon that carry Fire- coverage such as Mew and Celesteela, meaning Cobalion has to be careful of when to Taunt them. (mention how the fire-types must scout to see if it has stone edge otherwise they risk getting KOd)

**Ground-types**: Ground types like Zygarde-10%, Nidoqueen, and Krookodile can all block Cobalion's Volt Switch and threaten it back. These threats block off Volt Switch and threaten Cobalion with their super effective STAB. Zygarde-10% outspeeds Cobalion and slams it with Thousand Arrows. Nidoqueen has the bulk to take an Iron Head and launch an Earth Power. Lastly, Krookodile may be weak to Close Combat and is slower, but it still commonly carries either Chople Berry or Choice Scarf to live a Close Combat and KO back or outspeed and remove it, though it must be wary of Cobalion of running a Shuca Berry. gain the upper hand.

**Fighting Resists** Pokemon that resist Cobalion's strongest attack and do not care much for Iron Head such as Reuniclus and Salamence are usually able to take advantage of Cobalion's lack of power by either firing back or using Cobalion as setup fodder.

**Residual Damage**: Cobalion's job is made much more difficult by Spikes from Mew hindering its longevity. Rocky Helmet chip from Buzzwole and Amoonguss (tang doesnt rlly run helmet anymore so we can just make it amoon, if you want to mention it alongside amoonguss feel free) the bulky Grass-types also hinder Cobalion chances of surviving throughout the game, as well as increasing damage by repeatedly switching in against the Pokemon it checks.

[OVERVIEW]
- Cobalion's typing makes it one of the best defensive answers to common foes such as Scizor, Tangrowth Zarude (Cobalion cannot really answer Tangrowth when you consider it commonly runs Earthquake and Cobalion cannot threaten it back), and Nihilego. Its ability, Justified, also punishes them for using Knock Off by giving Cobalion an Attack boost.
- Its Speed tier allows it to finish off weakened Pokemon such as Rotom-H and non-Choice Scarf Mienshao.
- Its access to Stealth Rock alongside a good speed tier and utility moves such as Volt Switch means that Cobalion can make progress even against its checks and counters like Gastrodon (Not mandatory but this would flow better if you replaced Gastrodon with a Pokemon Cobalion can Volt Switch on) and Aegislash.
- Cobalion’s Swords Dance set also stands out among other setup physical attackers such as Crawdaunt and Gyarados by not fearing any of Amoonguss’s attacks, becoming a fiercer breaker after something else was sleep foddered. It is also much less vulnerable to being revenge killed by Scizor’s Bullet Punch or Quick Attack. Lycanroc-D's Accelerock (It is way more common than Quick Attack Scizor)
- Cobalion's typing has its drawbacks, as it is not resistant to Fairy nor Flying like other Steel-types. This makes Cobalion unreliable at pressuring taking hits from (You still pressure Hatterene with a potential Iron Head, and Galarian Moltres with a potential Stone Edge) threats such as Hatterene and Hurricane Galarian Moltres.
- Without Swords Dance, its offensive prowess is underwhelming compared to Fighting-type competition such as Mienshao and Kommo-o. The former is similarly able to pivot with U-turn alongside high speed but has access to Regenerator and Knock Off, whereas the latter shares Cobalion's access to Stealth Rock but has a better matchup against more of the defoggers like Rotom-H W (Rotom-H never really uses Defog).
- Cobalion lacks of recovery means it is susceptible to being worn down by repeated attacks, Spikes damage, and Rocky Helmet chip from Pokemon like Amoonguss and Buzzwole.
- Its mediocre Special Defense means even uninvested attacks from Pokemon like Rotom-W and Sylveon will deal considerable damage to Cobalion.

Paragraph 1
- Cobalion has plenty of opportunities to set up Stealth Rock against Pokemon like Zarude between its typing, physical bulk, and speed tier to help wear down foes like Nidoqueen (Use a Pokemon that does not resist Stealth Rocks or is weak to them as an example, like Choice Specs Chandelure).
- Add a point about how Stone Edge prevents defoggers like Moltres and Salamence from easily removing the Stealth Rocks Cobalion sets up, and also helps revenge killing Pokemon like Thundurus-T and Gyarados
- Add a point about how Iron Head helps pressuring Fairy-types like Hatterene and Sylveon
- Volt Switch is useful for helping it gain momentum against switchins like Moltres for a safe entry for teammates such as Primarina
- Taunt is a decent alternative with Cobalion's good speed tier to stop Mew from setting up Spikes, prevent Scizor from healing with Roost, and keep Cobalion from being a setup opportunity by the likes of Clangorous Soul Kommo-o. However, Taunt is not as consistent as Volt Switch and Cobalion is not a reliable Taunt user against many of the tier's defoggers like Salamence and Rotom-W.
- Rocky Helmet is primarily used to further punish Scizor but has other uses such as chipping Jirachi and Tapu Bulu.
- Add a point about how Leftovers give Cobalion a form of recovery, giving it longevity and allowing it to check threats for a longer amount of time
- Chople or Shuca Berry helps Cobalion get the upper hand against faster threats like Lycanroc-D and Choice Scarf Krookodile Mienshao , but makes Cobalion more passive against Scizor.

Paragraph 2
- Cobalion fits on offensive, bulky offense, and balance teams that appreciate its role compression and capability of acting as a soft check to Scizor and the common Grass-types, namely Zarude, Tangrowth, and Amoonguss.
- Because Cobalion fills up the role of a Stealth Rock setter, this opens up teammates like Krookodile to run Choice Scarf and for Nihilego to run Toxic Spikes. Krookodile is able to provide better Knock Off support, whereas Nihilego is able to handle Moltres.
- Spikes support from Mew pairs well with Cobalion's Stealth Rock. The additional hazards help wear down checks such as Buzzwole, and Mew appreciates Cobalion checking Crawdaunt Zarude (Crawdaunt is really uncommon, does a lot of damage to Cobalion with Crabhammer, and hates getting burned).
- Defoggers like Rotom-H (You can either replace this with another defogger and remove the Fairy-types point, or you just leave Moltres as the only mention) and Moltres burn through checks like Amoonguss and Tangrowth for Cobalion, provide a Fairy- resistance, and keep hazards off so that it can continue to act as a pivot for longer. Both enjoy Cobalion deterring Knock Off and have access to Volt Switch (Also change this part accordingly with the previous one, but you could choose Rotom-W and keep this part the same) and U-turn, respectively, so they can provide a momentum core for an offensive teammate like Lycanroc-D.
- Sylveon provides amazing cleric support for Cobalion, as it patches up its lack of recovery with Wish and heals status with Heal Bell while checking Keldeo and Salamence. In exchange, Cobalion is able to check Sylveon’s answers like Jirachi and Nihilego throughout the match alongside the Wish support.

Paragraph 1
- Cobalion is able to find opportunities to set up when forcing out Pokemon such as Chansey and Crawdaunt.
- +2 Close Combat enables Cobalion to 2HKO Celesteela and OHKO Rotom-W after Stealth Rock, while +2 Iron Head obliterates Hatterene and Sylveon. (Make Iron Head into its own point, saying how it helps versus Fairy-types and Nidoqueen. if you want to make this point not only Close Combat you can merge Stone Edge into it)
- Add a point about how Megahorn deals heavy damage to targets Cobalion usually struggles with, like Tangrowth and Mew
- Add the Iron Head point here
- Stone Edge is useful for luring KOing (A lure is an unexpected move, and Stone Edge is very common on Cobalion) the likes of Moltres while not giving free setup to Gyarados. After a Swords Dance it also OHKOes targets such as Rotom-H and Chandelure.
-Shuca or Chople Berry are preferable to keep Cobalion from being revenge killed by the likes of Keldeo and Zygarde-10%. (You have already made this point on the previous set, this is just fluff)
- Life Orb can be used to make Cobalion more immediately threatening. It enables Cobalion’s Close Combat to OHKO Mienshao without a boost and guarantees other OHKOes such as against offensive Kommo-o with +2 Close Combat and Salamence with +1 Stone Edge. Additionally, Seismitoad and Shuckle (Change this accordingly) also provide Stealth Rock support,. and the latter’s Sticky Webs help Cobalion against revenge killers such as Lycanroc-D and Zygarde-10%.
- Cobalion cannot break through Aegislash so teammates like Zarude and Chandelure are recommended necessary. Additionally, Zarude breaks bulky Water-types like Milotic and Chandelure has a better matchup against Hatterene.
- Amoonguss and Tangrowth have offensive utility with Spore and Sleep Powder Knock Off, respectively,. and the latter even provides Knock Off support. (Non AV Tangrowth is really rare) Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth are also able to check special attackers such as Raikou and Primarina.
- Offensive Water-types like Primarina and Keldeo take out threats Cobalion has issues KOing like Rhyperior Buzzwole (+2 Close Combat does 84% minimum to Rhyperior.) while helping overwhelm Celesteela. Likewise, they enjoy Cobalion leaving Amoonguss and Tangrowth worn down for their own attacks.

=============
- Safety Goggles is a good choice on Cobalion for teams that cannot afford having something put to sleep by Amoonguss and works especially well on the Swords Dance set to turn it into setup fodder more easily.
- Air Balloon is also a fine choice for Cobalion to be able to switch into Krookodile and Diggersby more easily. Though Cobalion cannot switch in freely against Nihilego. (Cobalion is not keeping the Air Balloon for a long amount of time, its just completely inferior to an already niche pick in Shuca Berry)
- Leftovers is usable as it makes up for Cobalion's lack of recovery, especially with its quadruple resistance to Stealth Rock. However, this makes Cobalion more passive against threats like Zarude. (Move this to the sets themselves)
-Move Taunt here
-Mention Shuca Berry
-A Calm Mind set is also worth mentioning, giving it a stronger Volt Switch, boosting its poor Special Defense, and having a better matchup against foes like Buzzwole

Checks and Counters
===================
**Bulky Water-types**: Pokemon such as Suicune and Milotic do not care much for Cobalion's unboosted attacks, and others such as Gastrodon and Seismitoad even block Volt Switch. Starmie and Tentacruel resist both of Cobalion’s STABs; Starmie is able to outspeed and threaten with Hydro Pump, whereas Tentacruel and both of them is are able to keep Stealth Rocks off with Rapid Spin. Most of them carry Scald to potentially ruin Cobalion with a burn, however most are also susceptible to Volt Switch letting in a teammate that can threaten them.

**Fire-types**: Moltres and Rotom-H target Cobalion's weaker Special Defense and the former has Flame Body to potentially cripple Cobalion with a burn. Chandelure is able to switch into either of Cobalion's STABs and launch a powerful attack or set up Substitute. This extends to Pokemon that carry Fire-coverage such as Celesteela and Mew, meaning Cobalion cannot Taunt them reliably. The Fire-types do risk being KOed by Stone Edge, however.

**Ground-types**: Nidoqueen can switch on either Volt Switch or Close Combat and threaten Cobalion with Earth Power. Zygarde-10% outspeeds Cobalion and slams it with Thousand Arrows. Lastly, Krookodile may be weak to Close Combat and slower, but it commonly carries Chople Berry, Focus Sash, or Choice Scarf and get the upper hand on Cobalion, though Krookodile especially must be wary of Shuca Berry.

**Fighting Resists** Pokemon that resist Cobalion's Close Combat and take little damage from Iron Head such as Buzzwole and Reuniclus Galarian Slowbro are able to take advantage of Cobalion's usual lack of power by either firing back or using Cobalion as setup fodder. Mew is also notable because it can set Spikes in front of Cobalion and has the bulk to live through a +2 Iron Head and burn with Will-O-Wisp, but it has to watch out for a +2 Megahorn.

**Aegislash**: Aegislash completely walls Cobalion and can use the opportunity to launch a Shadow Ball or set up a Substitute or a Swords Dance as Cobalion is forced out.

[OVERVIEW]
- Cobalion's typing makes it one of the best defensive answers to common foes such as Scizor, Nihilego, and Zarude. Its ability, Justified, also punishes the former two for using Knock Off by giving Cobalion an Attack boost.
- Its Speed tier allows it to finish off weakened Pokemon such as Rotom-H Nihilego and non-Choice Scarf Mienshao.
- Its access to Stealth Rock alongside a good speed tier and utility moves such as Volt Switch means that Cobalion can make progress even against its checks and counters like Aegislash.
- Cobalion’s Swords Dance set also stands out among other setup physical attackers such as Crawdaunt Aegislash and Ice Fang Gyarados by not fearing any of Amoonguss’s attacks, becoming a fierce breaker after something else was sleep foddered put to sleep by Spore. It is also much less vulnerable to being revenge killed by Scizor’s Bullet Punch.
- Cobalion's typing has its drawbacks, as it is not resistant to Fairy nor Flying like other Steel-types. This makes Cobalion unreliable at switching into threats such as Hatterene and Hurricane Galarian Moltres.
- Without Swords Dance, its offensive prowess is underwhelming compared to Fighting-type competition such as Mienshao and Kommo-o.

Paragraph 1
- Cobalion has plenty of opportunities to set up Stealth Rock against Pokemon like Zarude and Scizor between its typing, physical bulk, and speed tier to help wear down foes like Tentacruel
- Stone Edge keeps Moltres and Salamence from removing hazards for free say it only actually threatens moltres, since mence isn't even 2HKOed by a -1 edge and can roost off. and makes Cobalion a better revenge killer to Thundurus. change to thundy-t. thundy can scout for edge and cobalion is slower anyways. However, Cobalion becomes worse against Pokemon like Sylveon and Hatterene. Change Sylv for Queen and reorder this so Iron Head comes first and Stone Edge comes after to match set order.
However, Taunt leaves Cobalion more open to its checks and counters like Buzzwole and it is not a reliable Taunt user against many of the tier's defoggers like Salamence and Rotom-W. QC decided to remove Taunt
- Rocky Helmet is primarily used to further punish Scizor but has other uses such as chipping Jirachi and Tapu Bulu. just say it punishes contact moves from them, and i'd switch bulu for zarude since it also has u-turn and bulu always carries CC
- Leftovers is great at allowing Cobalion to remain healthy while checking non-Knock Off Scizor and Nihilego, but it leaves Cobalion more passive to the likes of Gyarados. helmet hardly makes cobalion less passive and it can volt on gyarados
- Chople Berry helps Cobalion get the upper hand against faster threats like Lycanroc-D and Choice Scarf Mienshao.
- Cobalion runs maximum Attack and Speed investment to revenge kill weakened targets like Thundurus-T and OHKO others such as Zarude and Mamoswine.

Paragraph 2
- Cobalion fits on offensive, bulky offense, and balance teams that appreciate its role compression and capability of acting as a soft check to Scizor and the common Grass-types, namely Zarude and Amoonguss. not sure about offense since coba hits like a wet noodle without sd, and it can't touch amoonguss: it either puts you to sleep or you get damaged by helmet + giga drain.
- Because Cobalion fills up the role of a Stealth Rock setter, this opens up teammates like Krookodile to run Choice Scarf and for Nihilego to run Toxic Spikes. Krookodile is able to provide Knock Off support, whereas Nihilego is able to handle Moltres add mence. krook deals with revenge killers for coba like azelf
- Spikes support from Mew pairs well with Cobalion's Stealth Rock. The additional hazards help wear down checks such as Buzzwole, and Mew appreciates Cobalion checking Zarude.
- Defoggers like Rotom-H and Moltres burn through checks like Amoonguss and Tangrowth for Cobalion, provide a Fairy- resistance, and keep hazards off so that it can continue to act as a pivot for longer. Both enjoy Cobalion deterring Knock Off and have access to Volt Switch and U-turn, respectively, so they can provide a momentum core for an offensive teammate like Lycanroc-D. fairy resistance isn't relevant since the only actual fairy in the metagame is primarina, which bodies oven and moltres. you could argue hatterene but draining kiss is v weak. a Fire resistance is more relevant, so mention that.
- Sylveon provides amazing cleric support for Cobalion, as it patches up its lack of recovery with Wish and heals status with Heal Bell while checking Keldeo and Salamence. In exchange, thanks to Sylveon's support, Cobalion is able to check Sylveon’s answers like Jirachi and Nihilego throughout the match alongside the Wish support.
- The tier’s other Steel-types like Aegislash can pair up with Cobalion to circumvent its lack of Fairy- and Flying- resist, and they appreciate Cobalion providing an even more solid backbone against the Grass-types so they do not risk sleep or being overwhelmed. However, this stacks a glaring Fire- and Ground- weakness.

Paragraph 1

- +2 Close Combat enables Cobalion to 2HKO Celesteela and OHKO Rotom-W after Stealth Rock, while +2 Iron Head obliterates Hatterene and Sylveon.
- Megahorn over Iron Head is a good option to threaten threats like Mew and Tangrowth, though it does sacrifice Cobalion's ability to reliably damage Pokemon like Primarina and Nidoqueen.
- Stone Edge is useful for KOing the likes of Moltres while not giving free setup to Gyarados. After a Swords Dance it also OHKOes targets such as Rotom-H and Chandelure.
- Leftovers is nice because it helps Cobalion remain resilient against the likes of Chansey and Amoonguss attempting to wear it down as it sets up. Chansey isn't really a foe that's going to stay in and do that. Just keep it to Amoonguss and have a comment saying it lets you utilize its defensive typing against foes like Scizor and Zarude better.
- Safety Goggles is an options for teams that cannot afford having something put to sleep by Amoonguss's Spore and makes it easier in general for Cobalion to set up on it.

- Buzzwole is still able to live through Cobalion's attacks so teammates that can remove it such as Salamence are appreciated. Salamence appreciates Cobalion revenge killing Mamoswine and Nihilego.
- Cobalion cannot break through Aegislash so teammates like Zarude and Chandelure are options. Additionally, Zarude breaks bulky Water-types like Milotic and Chandelure has a better matchup against Hatterene. Chandelure enjoys Cobalion removing Rhyperior and Nihilego whereas Zarude also appreciates Cobalion setting up on Amoonguss with Safety Goggles. Zarude doesn't appreciate Coba setting up on Amoonguss, it appreciates it being able to potentially remove it. You could also pretty easily just condense aegi + buzz into one point. Some partners being able to break both but I'll leave the choice of partners up to you
- Thundurus-T and Rotom-W are also good pivots for Safety Goggles Cobalion because they draw in Amoonguss for easy entry and setup. Amoong really isn't a safe Thundy-T pivot when they are NP and will proceed to OHKO it once boosted. Change it to regular thundy

Swords Dance circumvents Cobalion's mediocre Attack for it to become a more significant threat. +2 Close Combat enables Cobalion to 2HKO Celesteela and OHKO Rotom-W after Stealth Rock, while +2 Iron Head obliterates Hatterene and Sylveon. It is also Cobalion's best option when damaging Amoonguss, Primarina, and Nidoking. Megahorn over Iron Head is a good option to threaten threats like Reuniclus and Tangrowth, though it does sacrifice Cobalion's ability to reliably damage Pokemon like Primarina, Nidoqueen, and Amoonguss. Mamoswine also breaks through Aegislash whereas Seismitoad checks both Rotom-H and Rotom-W, and provides Stealth Rock support to further weaken opponents such as Celesteela. Amoonguss and Tangrowth have utility with Spore and Knock Off, respectively. Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth are also able to check special attackers such as Thundurus and Primarina. In return Cobalion is able to break through opposing Amoonguss so they don't have to play wars of attrition. Other threats such as Milotic, Rotom-W, Starmie, and Tentacruel don't mind Cobalion's attacks too much and the latter two have Rapid Spin to deny Cobalion's hazards being up. Rotom-W is def something that should be noted due to being an entry hazard remover that can beat it as well as cripple it with will-o-wisp. replace milotic with it and say that the three can all deny entry hazards being set.

**Fire-types**: Moltres and Rotom-H target Cobalion's Fire weakness and the former has Flame Body to potentially cripple Cobalion with a burn. Chandelure is able to switch into either of Cobalion's STABs and launch a powerful attack or set up Substitute. (substitute chandy isn't a main set so for consistency remove it) This extends to Pokemon that carry Fire-coverage such as Celesteela. The Fire-types do risk being KOed by Stone Edge, however.

**Ground-types**: Nidoking can switch on either Volt Switch or Close Combat and threaten Cobalion with Earth Power. Zygarde-10% outspeeds Cobalion and slams it with Thousand Arrows. Lastly, Krookodile commonly carries Chople Berry or Choice Scarf and get the upper hand on Cobalion.

add a point on faster threats, stuff like choice scarf mienshao, lycanroc-D, azelf, and thundurus are key to note

Cobalion's typing makes it one of the best defensive answers to common foes such as Nihilego, Jirachi, and Zarude.,(RP, AC) while its ability, Justified, also punishes the former for using Knock Off by giving Cobalion an Attack boost (dex info). Its Speed tier allows it to finish off weakened revenge kill Pokemon such as Nihilego and non-Choice Scarf Mienshao. Cobalion sets itself apart from other Stealth Rock setters like Jirachi and Nihilego with its higher Speed tier, which,(AC) alongside Volt Switch, allows it to pivot out of its checks and counters such as Salamence and Aegislash more easily. Cobalion’s Swords Dance set also stands out among other setup physical attackers physical setup sweepers such as Aegislash and Ice Fang Gyarados by not fearing any of Amoonguss’s attacks, becoming a fierce breaker (wallbreaker or stallbreaker?) after something else was put to sleep by Spore Sleep Clause is activated. Cobalion's typing has its drawbacks, as it is not resistant to Fairy nor Flying Fairy- or Flying-resistant like other Steel-types. This makes ,(AC) making Cobalion unreliable at switching into threats such as Hatterene and Galarian Moltres. Without Swords Dance, its offensive prowess is underwhelming compared to its Fighting-type competition such as Mienshao and Kommo-o. Cobalion's lack of recovery means it is susceptible to being worn down by repeated attacks,(RC) and Rocky Helmet chip from Pokemon like Amoonguss and Buzzwole. Its mediocre Special Defense means even uninvested attacks from Pokemon like Rotom-W and Primarina will deal considerable damage to Cobalion.

[SET COMMENTS]

Cobalion has plenty of opportunities to set up Stealth Rock against Pokemon like Zarude and Jirachi (why does it? because it forces them out? some extra info would be nice). Iron Head provides consistent damage against the likes of Nidoqueen and Hatterene, whereas Stone Edge keeps threatens Moltres,(AC) preventing it from removing hazards for free freely,(AC) and makes Cobalion a better revenge killer to Thundurus-T. Volt Switch is useful for helping Cobalion gain momentum against switch-ins(AH) like Moltres and giving safe entry for to teammates such as Primarina. Rocky Helmet is primarily used to further punish contact moves from the likes of Jirachi and Zarude.,(RP, AC) while Leftovers is great at allowing allows Cobalion to remain healthy while checking Chansey and non-Knock Off Nihilego.

Cobalion fits on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its role compression and capability of acting as a ability to check to threats such as Zarude. Because Cobalion fills up the role of a Stealth Rock setter, this opens up it allows teammates like Krookodile to run Choice Scarf and for Nihilego to run Toxic Spikes.; (RP, ASC) Krookodile deals with revenge killers to Cobalion like Azelf whereas Nihilego is able to handle Moltres and Salamence. Rotom-H and Moltres burn through checks like Amoonguss and Tangrowth for Cobalion and keep hazards off with act as Defoggers so that it Cobalion can continue to act as a pivot. Both enjoy Cobalion deterring Knock Off and have access to Volt Switch and U-turn, respectively, so they can provide a momentum pivoting core for an offensive teammate like Lycanroc-D. Lycanroc-D ,(AC) which is also a solid revenge killer to threats such as Thundurus and Nidoking. Sylveon provides cleric support for Cobalion, as it patches up its lack of recovery with Wish and heals status with Heal Bell while checking Keldeo and Salamence for it.;(RP, ASC) In exchange, thanks to Sylveon's support, Cobalion is able to check Sylveon’s answers like Jirachi and Nihilego more reliably throughout the match. The tier’s Other Steel-types like Aegislash can pair up with Cobalion to circumvent its lack of Fairy- and Flying- resist Fairy- and Flying-neutrality. However, this stacks a glaring Fire- and Ground-weakness (spacing). ,(AC) so teammates such as Zarude and Azumarill that deal with problematic Ground-types such as Zygarde-10% and Nidoking are appreciated (adding some mons that deal with Fire-types for Cobalion would be nice, so it can line up with the stacking weakness line).

Swords Dance circumvents Cobalion's mediocre Attack for allows it to become a more significant threat.,(RP, AC) as +2 Close Combat enables Cobalion to 2HKO Celesteela and OHKO Rotom-W after Stealth Rock, while +2 Iron Head obliterates Hatterene and Sylveon. It is also Cobalion's best option when damaging while also hitting Amoonguss, Primarina, and Nidoking hard. Stone Edge is useful for KOing Moltres, while not giving preventing free setup to from Gyarados, while it also and OHKOing other threats such as Rotom-H and Chandelure after Swords Dance. Leftovers is nice because it helps Cobalion remain resilient against the likes of Amoonguss attempting as it attempts to wear it down as it sets up. It ,(AC) and also makes Cobalion a more reliable check to the likes of Chansey and Zarude. Safety Goggles is an option for teams that cannot afford having something put to sleep by Amoonguss's Spore and,(AC) making it easier in general for Cobalion to set up on it.

This set is more suited towards offensive and bulky offense teams as a fast breaker (wall or stallbreaker?) with defensive utility. Knock Off support is appreciated from teammates such as Mamoswine and Seismitoad to leave threats like Rotom-H and Salamence vulnerable to hazards, wearing them down into range of Cobalion's attacks.;(RP, ASC) Mamoswine also breaks through Aegislash,(AC) whereas Seismitoad checks both Rotom-H and Rotom-W,(RC) and provides Stealth Rock support to further weaken opponents such as Celesteela. Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth have provide utility with Spore and Knock Off, respectively. Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth ,(AC) and are also able to check special attackers such as Thundurus and Primarina. In return,(AC) Cobalion is able to break through opposing Amoonguss for them,(AC) so they don't have to play wars of attrition won't have to stall each other out (I assume this is what you meant?). Cobalion cannot break through Aegislash and Buzzwole,(AC) so teammates such as Salamence and Chandelure are options. Zarude helps break through bulky Water-types like Rotom-W and takes care of threats such as Krookodile and Zygarde-10%. In exchange, Zarude appreciates Cobalion removing Amoonguss. Thundurus and Rotom-W are also good pivots for Safety Goggles Cobalion because they draw lure in Amoonguss for to give Cobalion easy entry and setup.
