Hello friends! I'm a beginner as far as art goes; join me as I journey towards hopefully being less of a beginner.

My life feels oddly complete to see a Walrein in a beret.

My only advice at this point would be to get familiar with the overall 'feeling' to Pokemon designs. Naturally, one can always make them more complicated by adding additional details to make them more similar to their real life counterparts and/or origin. But if you can learn how to break them down in basic shapes and sketch loosely before you start drawing the linart for real, I'm sure your problems with poses will fade as well.

so I got bit by the art bug for the first time in a while and decided to draw something

and that something wound up being this girl:

she doesn't have a name yet but I could see myself doing more with her

fun fact: this took me 2.5 hours to do

They are not necesarily anime eyes, but not necessarily cartoony eyes neither.

In manga, faces have a certain shape. No matter how thin or wide the face is, there should be a trapezium like feature followed by a triangular feature.
That, you can get away with certain cartoon styles, but not if you are attempting manga style.

Instead of drawing the entire side of the face with one line, please chop it up into at least 2 lines.

So it should look like this:

this was done with ink and brush, a medium which i had never used before
