Should have a Smogon Shoddy Ladder on gb

I think this would be a great idea because gamebattles.com is a very cool site. It is an MLG (Major League Gaming) website that has laddering. They useto have a shoddy ladder but it was very inactive so it got deleted. I think if they had a shoddy smogon ladder, it would help smogon and GB's activity. Moderators from Smogon should talk to GB's Human Resources about creating a new ladder.

There is also a singles ladder.

Smogon has some great battlers so it could help make the ladder a little bit more competitive it some more people joined. Come on because the season just started yesterday so make your teams guys!
 
If they want a ladder cool, but there is no reason at all for Smogon to get involved. Smogon has its own vastly more active ladder.

The GB ladder is a Wifi ladder, is it not? It isn't completely redundant, so I'll leave the topic open for people to discuss bearing that in mind.
 
Maybe, it's not entirely clear what he is suggesting. The title says "Smogon SHoddy ladder on gb", which strongly implies a shoddy ladder not a wifi one (and that he forgot to proofread for caps). The OP is a bit unclear, he could be asking for Smogon battlers to join a shoddy ladder, or perhaps for Smogon to work with them to make a new wifi ladder on gb. Even if it is the second, we would not support a wifi ladder on gb, we could just make one purely on Smogon (and have it far more active).
 
This is completely redundant. Also, Smogon is a serious website so I don't know why we'd want to get involved with GameBattles.
 
They tried this and it failed. Gamebattles opened a ladder that allowed players to use Shoddy Battle and fight on any server they want, not just Smogon.

However, the ladder quickly became inactive, probably due to people not understanding how to use Shoddy, thus it was deleted.

This is true but alot of people on gb now do shoddy also, so maybe it would work better if they tried it again. Also I'm sure that the gb ladder would be WAY more competitive if some of Smogon's best came to play on the wifi singles ladder. Many of GB's best battlers (Zak91) came to Smogon instead. Very Atrocious Ruthless Killers (VARK) are not even close to the best teams on GB by the way. Neither am I, even though I am number one. That's the great thing about Smogon's site. People of all different skill levels come together and play, Thats why Smogon is way more active than GB. And yes it would be nice for Smogon and GB to work together to have the Ultimate Competitive Pokemon Ladder

But you are talking about GB. The staff of GB is poorly maintained and rarely active. Getting them to make the ladder in the first place was a long, drawn-out battle. Getting it back would be literally impossible.

Not really, The other member of my clan is an admin and he is very active. He's online right now. Plus, the pokemon ladder has 2 admins. GB is way more than pokemon. There are over 60 admins on the site. There are also referees and Human Resources directors that could help out. I will send my teammate a message and ask him if he will try to work it out. The only problem is, Would anyone from Smogon head over to the Smogon Shoddy GB ladder?

Yeah, he is very active. As a whole, GB staff isn't and rarely do they make it their goal to do anything for the community.

Plus, it's pretty much useless since the Smogon Server has its own ladder system. GB is full of randoms and losers who dispute even if they lost and there's no need for it. And, even if the ladder was made, it would eventually die down just like last time.
 
GameBattles is purely a matchmaking service with a leaderboard. As mentioned, Smogon has its own leaderboard with automated matchmaking with a larger pool of players. The only benefit to doing it through GameBattles would be that they provide prizes for some tournaments, none of which I believe will ever be for Pokemon. There is no reason to go into talks with GameBattles for a Shoddy Ladder because there is no benefit to it aside from a lot more administrative work.

This.

The first ladder did not have any prize and many of the people that made the playoffs were because some of the teams that actually got seeds were locked from excessive disputing or from inactivity so they had to go to lower-ranked teams.

Unnecessary. Use the Smogon ladder. That's what it's there for.
 
We won't be switching to a third party ladder solution, when there are no advantages to doing so. However, suggestions for the Smogon ladder are welcome, although they may not be acted on right away. I suggest posting such suggestions in a new thread.
