Dot Agumon has selected Yoshi as their Death Match Opponent. Please schedule a Death Match as soon as possible.

The Death Match is Black and White II.

In this game, you will compete by using a portion of a limited pool of points. The player with the most victories will win the Death Match. Both players will start with 99 points. The game will consist of 9 rounds. In each round, players will use as many points as they wish out of their 99 points.

When a starting player decides how many points they'll used, It is revealed to the opponent whether it is a 1-digit (announced as Black) or a 2-digit number (announced as White). The opposing player can see that before they decide how many points to use for the round.. The number itself is not revealed.

The player who used more points in each round will gain a victory. The points you used will be subtracted from the total, and it will be shown which interval your total point amount lies in. The intervals are: 99-80, 79-60, 59-40, 39-20, 19-0. It will be shown which interval your remainder of points is in as soon as you send in your points.

The player who wins each round will be the person who starts the following round.

The winner of this Death Match gains the opponent's garnets.

Yoshi has forfeited due to life getting in the way. Black and White II will be played at a later time, and we will fit Yoshi in at a later event or another Genius. We wish him well.

The next Main Match will be posted in about two hours.

Garnet count comes after it is decided what Yoshi will do with his garnets; if no decision is made in 24 hours from the time we accepted his forfeiture, then we will take them out of the game temporarily and award them to the final winner. The next post is reserved for the next Main Match.

Before Racetrack Blues:

Dot Agumon - 25
Faisal - 23
Clefable - 23
MrJelli - 22
Ivy - 20
Ransei - 13
Yoshi - 12 (where these go, to be decided)
11oyd - 11

Main Match 9 is titled Racetrack Blues.

Tagging all players: 11oyd, Clefable, Dot Agumon, Faisal, Ivy, MrJelli, Ransei

Each player starts with $100. Money cannot be given away or traded, and must be used in $1 increments.

Each round out of four rounds, players will privately bet on a three horse race in their confessional PM. Players must bet a minimum of $10 each round, and can only bet on a maximum of two horses each round.

The winner of the horse race will be the horse with the least amount of money bet on it. If two horses tie for the least amount, the horse with the most money bet on it will win the race. If all three horses tie, no horse will win, and all bets will be lost. Players with a bet on the winning horse will receive triple the amount of money they bet.

Players can also add garnets to their bets. Each garnet will count as a $25 increase to the total money bet on that horse. However, money from garnets only counts towards determining the winning horse, and is not returned to the better. Additionally, if a player is out of money, they can exchange 1 garnet for $10.

At the end of each round, the money count of the 4th place player will be made public.

The game will end after 4 rounds. The player(s) with the most money at the end of the game (payout occurs after round 4) will be the winner(s) and receive 3 garnets, while the player(s) with the least money at the end of the game will be the loser(s). Additionally, the player in 4th place in the final money count will receive 7 garnets. If there is a tie for 4th, nobody will receive the garnet boost. A sole winner will, as usual, get an additional Token of Life to give away, but this isn't an option for mutiple winners (who will receive 2 garnets if they win, as opposed to a sole winner's 3).

Each round lasts for 24 hours.

The three horses are:
  1. Future Gluestick
  2. Zero Chance
  3. No Legs

Round 1, which lasts 24 hours, will begin on Tuesday, February 25 at 4 PM EST. Use the time between now and then to communicate with other players and develop strategies.

Additionally, the player in 4th place in the final money count will receive 7 garnets. If there is a tie for 4th, nobody will receive the garnet boost. Additional rulings:
  1. Garnets can only be used in addition to money bet. Garnets alone cannot be bet.
  2. At the end of the main match, the number of garnets spent and who spent the garnets will be announced (before the garnets are updated).
  3. At the end of each of the rounds, the standings of the horses will be revealed. The players and who spent money on them are not, nor are players' money totals, with the exception of the player in fourth place in terms of money (that is revealed each round, as well as how much money they have). It will be revealed alongside final payouts at the end how many garnets each player spent.

Round 1 has begun (and has been active for an hour). Please place bets.

Hullo its me with a couple rule clarifications:
- If you have less than $10, you will not be forced to purchase extra money with garnets, and can instead spend the amount of money you have remaining for that round (even if this is $0)
- No, there is not 4 seperate races. The money is cumulative across the 4 rounds towards the 1 race

Unfortunaly we had a pretty poor showing in terms of actually submitting something :/
All players have 24 hours to send submissions for round 2 if they havent already
If after the 24 hours, or in future rounds, there is no submission from a player, half of their remaining cash will be forcibly bet on a random horse , as their submission. The candidate(s) in question will be informed of what horse their randomized bet was placed on

All bets are in for Round 2, and Round 2 has ended.

However, full disclosure: I am the only available cohost until 7 PM EST, and it is in everyone's best interest that I stay away from compiling numerical submissions due to the Zombie Game incident. Although 7 PM EST is when compilation is for sure going to happen, I will attempt to find a trustworthy global to help compile before that time period.

We thank you for understanding.

Round 2 has ended.

Very little has changed in the racetrack. Future Gluestick seems to still be the top pick, followed by No legs, and then Zero Chance.

The money count of the person in 4th is currently $55.

Will Future Gluestick manage to win before the inevitable day comes? Will No Legs spontaneously sprout wings and fly to first? Will Zero Chance defy all odds and end up as the victor?

Let's get back to betting! Round 3 has begun.

last chance to get your bets in! round 4 has begun
Round 4 has ended and all submissions are in. However, compilation will happen tonight. As stated in our channel, future games will be compiled immediately from the time the rounds end (ie complicated math will likely not be a factor in them).

Wow! What an exciting race!

The horse with the least money won the race, so Zero Chance defied the curse of its name and won the race. No Legs, despite its obvious hindrance, came in a respectable second, and all we'll say is that Future Gluestick has lived up to its name and finished in third.

Final standings of the Main Match as follows:

MrJelli has won the Main Match and receives a Token of Life in addition to three garnets. He will have an extra one to give away, but it cannot be given to Faisal, who is the Elimination Candidate. After MrJelli gives away his Token of Life, Faisal will choose someone to join him in the Death Match, which will be posted when both Death Match players are revealed.

The player in fourth place in terms of money was Clefable, who gets the seven garnets.

Garnets Spent
MrJelli spent 21 garnets
Dot Agumon spent 8 garnets
11oyd spent 8 garnets
Ivy spent 8 garnets
Ransei spent 0 garnets
Clefable spent 8 garnets
Faisal spent 4 garnets.

Post-Main Match Garnet Count
Clefable - 22
Faisal - 19
Dot Agumon - 17
MrJelli - 16
Ransei - 13
Ivy - 12
11oyd - 3

Death Match - Apocalypse

In Apocalypse, both players will simultaneously submit moves in an attempt to capture all of the opponent’s pawns. This game will be played over Google Sheets thanks to the generous work of PeckInkay.

Apocalypse is played on a 5x5 grid, set up as below. Each player starts the game with two knights and five pawns, which each move as they do in chess; a knight moves one space forwards, backwards, or sideways (not diagonally) then two spaces in a perpendicular direction, and a pawn moves one space forward. A knight can jump over other pieces (yours or your opponent’s) during its movement. Furthermore, unlike in normal chess, pawns cannot move two squares on their first move. However, pawns still only capture by moving one square diagonally forwards. (Note that in this context, “forward” refers to the direction of movement for each player, thus left for the white player and right for the black player.)

ApocalypseBoard

Instead of taking turns making your moves, each player’s moves will be made simultaneously. During a turn, each player will submit their move to the hosts, supplying the starting and ending coordinates of the piece you wish to move. Then, each player’s move will be revealed publicly and executed simultaneously. The following rules apply:

1. If the movement and capture actions can be performed together, without conflict, they are executed.

2. If the movements end up at the same location, then there are two cases. If two knights or two pawns land on the same space, they will both be taken out of the game. Alternatively, if a knight and a pawn land on the same space, then the knight will capture the pawn.

3. If one movement ends up on a location occupied by the opponent’s piece, the latter is captured and removed from play, except if this piece has received a movement order, where the movement is executed without capture.

4. If you declare a capture with your pawn by moving it one square diagonally forward, but the piece to be captured is moved from its square, the pawn’s move still stands. (In other words, the move converts to a diagonal step instead of a capture.)

5. If two pieces have been ordered to capture one another, the players simply exchange the pieces’ locations.

6. If your pawn moves onto the last row (i.e., the opponent’s line), it will be promoted into a knight if you have less than two knights. If you already have two knights, then you must move the pawn and drop it onto any empty square.

7. If a declared move is illegal, you will earn one penalty point.

8. Players are not allowed to pass their turn.

When one player has no pawns remaining, the game is over and that player is declared the loser. If both players lose their last pawn at the same time, or if neither player has any valid moves, the game is a draw. In addition, accumulating two penalty points will forfeit the game in favor of your opponent. The winner will advance to the next round, whereas the loser will be the latest person eliminated from this game.

Unfortunately, a schedule of the DM was mandated. We will aim to play the DM either late Friday or any time Saturday, with no time after being accepted.
