Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

And for today we've got...
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258431435
LC team that manages to get THREE kills against a somewhat standard team. On the other side, Outrage Kyurem-W (w/ Draco Meteor and Fusion Flare too) and Draco Meteor Zekrom.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258431123
L:
Nothing too weird here. Just an OU team. The only strange thing is Toxic SD Scizor.

R:
- Mono-Dark team.
- Thief Darkrai.
- Mixed Mega Gyarados, with Thunderbolt and Crunch.
- Ancient Power Tyranitar.
- Foul Play + Ice Beam Weavile, managing to get two kills. Apparently, it has no Speed EVs (outsped by unboosted Mega Charizard X).
- Crunch + Knock Off Pangoro, spamming Knock Off on Scizor when its item was already knocked off.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-258431373
Night Shade spam (including Night Shade Shedinja) versus Entraintment Truant Durant and a Riolu. Funny how Shedinja trolls Durant by using Magic Coat.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258430023
Mono-Aegislash featuring Block, Spite and Reflect. The other team looks serious, but I wonder why Earthquake spam on specially based mons. A twist ending too.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258430294
Oh god. Where to start here?
L:
- Rest / Aerial Ace / Low Kick / Dark Pulse Greninja. Also using Rest Turn 1 at full health and Low Kick on Drifblim.
- Calm Mind Air Balloon Chansey. Aromatherapy is there too. So what's the set's purpose?
- Avalanche Rayquaza.
Sadly the Klinklang's sweep and the forfeit doesn't let us know more about the rest of the team.

R:
EvasionPass team. Sets:
- Drifblim. Minimize / Will-O-Wisp / Baton Pass / Focus Energy.
- Klinklang. Shift Gear / Gear Grind / ??? / ???.
- Barbaracle. Unknown moveset.
And... that's all. No more mons, just these 3.

So, let's see what we can find.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258508187
Braviary used as a Sunny Day setter (it gets that?), Aerial Ace Leavanny, a questionable send-in that nevertheless works thanks to the magic of recoil, Life Orb Talonflame (you don't need to break your neck any quicker), Cobalion setting up two Calm Minds only to get roasted by a crit Flamethrower, and Glaceon with Baby Doll Eyes and hitting three consecutive Blizzards (with a freeze!) to win the game.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258510885
Attract Froslass, Dusclops getting Taunted out of Taunt, Cincinno forgetting the immunity, and Aegislash using Sacred Sword on Starmie before Shadow Sneaking it.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/1v1-258512748
Just because you have someone's moveset does not mean you know how to use it.

EDIT: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/unratedrandombattle-258514358
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!

Spamming Earthquake on Air Balloon Relicanth, that's it.
Is there any thread for old gens stupidness? Because I just fought a guy with just a Charmander on RBY OU.
And some actual Other Metagames stupidness...
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/eos-1v1-44481
Is Dewgong a common sight in 1vs1? It was about to get haxed to death, but ends up proving why Perish Song is suspect tested.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-258507248
So you know Gengar can remove Toxic Spikes right? Also Sap Sipper Azu. With Scald (on a Toxic Spikes team). And Perish Song.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258517704
Carracosta beats Mega Salamence 1vs1 and proceeds to sweep with Aqua Jet. Ironically, Noivern is the last mon standing on left's side.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258517421
FEAR Rattata team. And what happens when its opponent reveals Fake Out?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258516863
EvasionPass stopped cold by luck, Sky Uppercut Mega Lopunny and Cradily trying to stall Rayquaza. I still wonder how right thought that Sableye and Cradily were going to work that way. And also, why left didn't Mega Evolve Rayquaza immediately?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258517621
Have fun with the Mono-Dragon and the bunch of NFE.

Pretty much everything gets Sunny Day (Except Water- and Ice-types) and Rain Dance (Except for Fire-types).

Hydreigon used Draco Meteor!
The opposing Flareon avoided the attack!
The opposing Flareon used Flare Blitz!
It's not very effective... Hydreigon lost 87.5% of its health!
Hydreigon was burned!
The opposing Flareon is damaged by the recoil!
Hydreigon was hurt by its burn!
Hydreigon fainted!
cherrypoppins17 won the battle!
Ladder updating...

I quit life. Shoutout to Voltages, who spectated this bullshit.
The replay is here. And wtf is the guy doing with a Mono-Fire?

Wow. Hustle FEAR. That's retardedly dumb.
No kidding. Oh, and Genwunner alert on the left. I'll bet that Zard wasn't even mega.

Spamming Earthquake on Air Balloon Relicanth, that's it.
You missed him attempting to Rock Blast that Relicanth too--I'd kicked out to Scrafty expecting the Bullet Seed, or even a STAB Tail Slap if he didn't have it (which is a possibility; this is randbats we're talking), and instead got that.

Here's a couple more.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-258531699
This Altaria seems awfully Frustrated. On the right, no mega, or was Medicham just not listening to your heart today?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-258534321
Grass meets Water and is promptly rolled by Mega Gyarados. The surprise value of physical Sceptile (it has SD and 110 Atk with a pretty good movepool including Iron Tail, Thunder Punch, and EQ, so it can work) kinda goes out the window when you're Intimidated.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258538441
Zapdos sets rain and...WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!? (You really thought Nidoking was gonna switch out?) This is followed by another "Oops, didn't see the Air Balloon", Scolipede with Steamroller (um, X-Scissor much?), and a funny chat: "I WILL AVENGE BIPEN! [The Mega Ampharos just felled]". No, you won't.

On that Medicham...
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-256296754
Mega Sableye burning Umbreon, Dynamic Punch Golurk and Skill Swap Cofagrigus.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-256301115
Anything Goes; Furret, Wartortle and Pikachu included.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-256301620
For starters, switching out to stop an Altaria boosting exists. Gotta admit Heal Bell was a nasty surprise.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-256299789
CurseLax haxing to death and sweeping a whole team. Fly strikes again, this time in Crobat, and Swords Dance + Bug Buzz Mega Scizor.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-256308713
Dual Screens spam, defensive? Raikou and two unlikely misses near the end.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-256309556
Magikarp vs. the world. Come on, this isn't funny sice RBY.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-256308451
No, Medicham is not going to Mega Evolve, there's no Mega on right's team (apparently).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-256308985
There's literally nothing on this replay (forfeit before Turn 1), but "sorry i had to won the battle!" is funny.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-256307341
Classic AG stupidity. Lumineon and Raichu, Mixed non-Mega Glalie with Giga Impact, and physical Gengar (why is this that common?).
(bolded) ^ Remember this I posted? It is the same guy.

Also, that Nidoking did not have Sheer Force. And mixed Raikou to boot.

When you have no chance of winning by Turn 1-2.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258577029
Pretty much every set on right's side (and I mean EVERY SET). Meanwhile left gets too greedy with boosts, almost losing for it.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/challengecup1v1-258578570
OK so you got a Politoed with Mud Slap to troll the opposition. Sadly Krabby hit you through drops (twice).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-258577585
I fail to understand how switching so much will help you against Mega Diancie. Also Togekiss proves it deserves a spot in the "most annoying Pokémon ever" list.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258576471
Guys, THERE'S A MONOTYPE LADDER OUT THERE.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258576855
Full Baton Pass team that gets ruined by Roar Heatran, featuring Speed Boost Agility Ninjask (#GottaGoFast). Also left's fails when facing Drifblim. And I wonder why you bring only 4 mons to battle...

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258743892
Cool SmashPass + Deoxys spam team. But I wonder why you use Shell Smash when you're at +6/+6/+6. On the other team, Togekiss spamming Metronome. And Deoxys-A hits it with Dark Pulse (actually looks like Choice-locked).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258742969
Mono SwagPlay Klefki, Prankster battles and Safeguard fails.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258743337
LC team vs. Banette and its NFE friends (feat. Mudkip).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258741808
Acrobatics Greninja getting FIVE flinches in a row with Dark Pulse and then avoiding a Rock Slide.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258742461
The same guy that defeated the Mono-Klefki is back, showing us his Triple Screens Meowstic and misteriously forfeiting Turn 11. On the other side, Water Spout + Hydro Pump Jellicent making a poor use of its moves and a Safeguard fail.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258739695
Swords Dance / Extreme Speed / Stone Edge / Judgment Arceus, Pikachu, and sending Infernape in against Mega Mewtwo Y.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/2v2doubles-258748466
Mono-Psychic event-exclusive team. Featuring Swords Dance Celebi.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/eos-monotype-46533
Levitate fail, trying to set up Belly Drum Slurpuff on Gyro Ball Bronzong, and then spamming Moonblast on it with Florges (recovery?).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258742354
Golbat being a major headache to the opponent until Mega Pinsir takes care of it, SitrusCycle Chansey, and using Scald on Water Absorb Vaporeon.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258746894
Lugia wars (feat. Shadow Ball Lugia), using Origin Pulse under harsh sunlight, and spamming Dark Void on a paralyzed mon.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258745374
Ditto spam (with Lefties), Whimsicott trolling Vaporeon but then using both Stun Spore and Leech Seed on a Grass-type. And Mega Absol sweep.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258743892
Cool SmashPass + Deoxys spam team. But I wonder why you use Shell Smash when you're at +6/+6/+6. On the other team, Togekiss spamming Metronome. And Deoxys-A hits it with Dark Pulse (actually looks like Choice-locked). Dig miss on 5, so that's a Hustle Togekiss. Also, that Deoxys-A got lucky.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258742969
Mono SwagPlay Klefki, Prankster battles and Safeguard fails. Even if you do resist, why are you Belly Drumming on a known Foul Play user? That's just asking for it. Also, Heliolisk, you do get Rain Dance if you want to use Thunder.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258743337
LC team vs. Banette and its NFE friends (feat. Mudkip). Fine, I'll bite. I herd you liek Mudkipz. Also Fake Out Wartortle, and that Magby put in work. Though anybody could against that team.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258741808
Acrobatics Greninja getting FIVE flinches in a row with Dark Pulse and then avoiding a Rock Slide. Brick Break Rhyperior, Sceptile sent in on Gengar (hey, newsflash, you're still weak to Poison), and did that Magmortar have a Power Herb?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258742461
The same guy that defeated the Mono-Klefki is back, showing us his Triple Screens Meowstic and misteriously forfeiting Turn 11. On the other side, Water Spout + Hydro Pump Jellicent making a poor use of its moves and a Safeguard fail. Altaria, what are you doing, switching into a Fairy like that? Bad fluffy dragon! Bad fluffy dragon!

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258739695
Swords Dance / Extreme Speed / Stone Edge / Judgment Arceus, Pikachu, and sending Infernape in against Mega Mewtwo Y. Since when did Mega Ray carry Crunch? Also, Pikachu got a kill, your argument is invalid. The Infernape on the left had Shadow Claw, by the way.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/2v2doubles-258748466
Mono-Psychic event-exclusive team. Featuring Swords Dance Celebi. The four of them aren't terrible by themselves, but together...they win, because Mew is a badass.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/eos-monotype-46533
Levitate fail, trying to set up Belly Drum Slurpuff on Gyro Ball Bronzong, and then spamming Moonblast on it with Florges (recovery?). This guy literally just discovered Trick Room Victini, and then sent Klefki in against it. To be fair on the Bronzong, it could've been Heatproof, although Levitate is the more common ability. The Moonblast spam was probably because Clefable went down (so you only had one mon on your entire team with Fire coverage?)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258742354
Golbat being a major headache to the opponent until Mega Pinsir takes care of it, SitrusCycle Chansey, and using Scald on Water Absorb Vaporeon. Suicune got a freeze. Always mention freezes, especially of the zero-turn variety. That Overheat on 35 was just stupid--you expect Pinsir, who is weak to all three attacks Manectric normally carries, to switch in on it? Also, SitrusRecycle isn't a terrible idea, merely suboptimal...on Blissey.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258746894
Lugia wars (feat. Shadow Ball Lugia), using Origin Pulse under harsh sunlight, and spamming Dark Void on a paralyzed mon. And Outrage Lando-T.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258745374
Ditto spam (with Lefties), Whimsicott trolling Vaporeon but then using both Stun Spore and Leech Seed on a Grass-type. And Mega Absol sweep. No Own Tempo Petal Dance? Okay. And I see what Whimsicott was going for the second time with the Encore/Torment...turns out Hydration affects volatile status too. And why is Aggron switching into (Ditto-)Vaporeon in the rain? Also Sash Delphox with Shock Wave (yes, we know you don't get Thunderbolt), switching into Vaporeon, again, in the rain.
Additional comments in blue.

Additional comments in blue.
Sorry I went quick through them so I skipped some things.

And got a couple or so more from today's BH laddering:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-258815514
- Bulk Up / Roost / Dragon Pulse / Spore Pressure Dialga. With Leftovers. And using Spore on my PH Mega Gyarados.
- Pressure Ho-Oh.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-258817055
And those Sturdy mons (FEAR Aron and Sturdinja) got ruined by my Turboblaze Deoxys-S. Also shitmons we can't see in action.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-258821501
Mono-Dragon: Reshiram & Zekrom, all Kyurem formes and Zygarde. The Kyurem's set was Quiver Dance / Glaciate / Sacred Fire / Spatial Rend.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258958432
A team of 6 Arceus formes, including Arceus-Bug and Judgment+Draco Meteor Arceus-Dragon, against a Snorlax attempting to PP stall, only to get set up on (by Bugceus, of all things). Also, lots of Perish Song, including by CM Fairyceus.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258962025
Drifblim vs. Never-Melt Ice Lapras, an apparent itemless Brave Bird+Sky Attack Dodrio, and the infamous non mega mixed Charizard.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogontriples-258962159
Left:
All three genies in Incarnate formes.
Air Cutter Charizard-Y (just use Heat Wave or something).
Physical Nidoqueen with Double Kick, and actually being able to use her Lum Berry courtesy of Flame Body (and got the KO thanks to 2 crits).
Fly Power Herb Landorus and Tornadus.
Thunder Shock+Thunderbolt Thundurus.

Right:
Zapdos using Discharge, getting three para's out of four hits (Nidoqueen laughs at that). It later used Thunder Wave on Nidoqueen.
Energy Ball+Grass Knot Cofagrigus.
Bubble Beam+Dive Starmie.
Tyrunt at all, let alone with Dig, and targeting Thundurus (only trying to hit Tornadus thanks to a shift).
Clamperl.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258962670
If you're gonna BP, make sure you actually click it instead of getting too greedy.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-258961505
Flame Orb Draco Meteor Arceus-Normal. Okay then. Oddly, it's their opponent that forfeits after some Primal Kyogre-inflicted hax.

So I decided to try something in the Other Metas room today, and I had a lot of fun with it. Basically the room collectively made a 1v1 team and then laddered with it. How did this work? Strawpoll. Basically, I would ask people to nominate things and I'd put them in a poll and we'd decide on which things to use.

In the beginning, people were taking it relatively seriously. We ended up with a team of Chansey, Kyurem-Black, and Mr. Mime. Besides Mr. Mime, the team looked like it could possibly be viable. Of course, that just depends on what sets we decide to run...........

Chansey's was the first moveset we made, and we started to get a bit silly with it. I decided to have us be Serene Grace because it was the only one that could possibly have an effect in 1v1. Our moveset ended up being Softboiled, Thunder Wave, Seismic Toss, and Charge Beam.
However, it was Chansey's item that was really the kicker. The poll was a tie between Wide Lens and Assault Vest. ASSAULT VEST. CHANSEY. (NEW META)

So, with that terrific start, we decided to choose a moveset for Kyurem Black. Now, we came up with the very creative and original and amazing moveset of Hail, Roost, Fly, and Sleep Talk. As you can see, we have come up with a next-level Kyurem Black set that everyone needs to begin to prepare for immediately. Next, we chose the item. Nominations included things such as: Master Ball, Focus Band, Sticky Barb, Lagging Tail, Air Balloon, and Never-melt-ice. So, of course we chose Sticky Barb.

Next, we focused on Mr. Mime. Arhops demanded that we use Tickle as one of the moves. Other nominations included Fake Out, Hidden Power Dragon, and Follow Me. Our final moveset ended up being Tickle, Healing Wish, Baton Pass, and Fake Out. Naturally, those are the best moves to run in 1v1 on anything, so why not slap them on the best pocket monster in the whole tier, Mr. Meme? Item choices included Haban Berry, Focus Band, and Bright Powder. Focus Band allows it to reliably beat things that OHKO it, so that was logically what we chose.

http://pastebin.com/iP5FThgf

I tried to ladder with this, but it didn't turn out as well as the teambuilding. It was hard to get people to vote before the timer ran out, so I soon stopped laddering. Anyways, I just wanted to share that amazing 1v1 team that we created and encourage you all to try it out and post replays! I know that Kit Kasai was able to get 5 wins using it, so it may very well top the ladder if you play it right!

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/1v1-259369057
I don't know if Last Resort Mega Lopunny is a thing, but why you spam Fake Out?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/challengecup1v1-259369519
That Fly crit was about to win you the game... but Staravia had Endure.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-259368625
Diglett makes an awesome performance, and then Dugtrio comes in to the same more or less.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/challengecup1v1-259371430
You've got Floette Eternal Flower, cool! Until you end up facing Light of Ruin Metang: the monster.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-259369458
Sap Sipper Azu, getting outplayed but discoraging Mega Charizard Y from spamming Solar Beam.

So is Last Resort a thing? Seriously, it is powerful, but leaves you with poor coverage and easily stalled.
I remember it was a thing with Ambipom that some people did. Normal Gem Technician Fake Out in Gen V is kinda powerful and has a bit of a surprise factor. I guess people thought it could transfer to an even stronger normal type Pokemon.
