[SET COMMENTS]
Silvally-Steel distinguishes itself from the other Steel-types in the RU tier with its high Speed, possessing two great pivot move options in U-turn and Parting Shot while being a Defogger. Silvally-Steel checks prominent Psychic- and Dragon-types such as Gardevoir, Indeedee-F, and Dragalge, and can therefore find opportunities to remove entry hazards against them; however, Silvally-Steel has to be wary of their coverage moves. Silvally-Steel also tends to get quickly whittled down by repeatedly switching in on attacks coupled with damage from entry hazards, especially Spikes. For the choice of pivot move, U-turn is the preferred option because it deals chip damage to its switch-ins like Bronzong, and unlike Parting Shot, it cannot be blocked by Magic Bounce and does not trigger Defiant. But, Parting Shot has its merit as it provides excellent utility by softening the incoming blow for its teammates. Toxic punishes Water- and Fire-types such as Seismitoad, Mantine, and Centiskorch for switching into Silvally-Steel. Flamethrower is another option to hit Bewear, Steelix, and Escavalier. The 176 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature are to outspeed non-Scarf variants of Indeedee-F with the remaining EVs invested in Special Defense to supplement its bulk.
VoltTurn teams notably appreciate the team compression that Silvally-Steel provides with its unique trait of being a Steel-type, which can Defog and keep up the momentum. Dragalge, Heliolisk, and Rotom are VoltTurn partners that can take advantage of bulky Water-types such as Milotic, Mantine, and Vaporeon, which tries to switch in on Silvally-Steel. Likewise, Passimian, Barraskewda, and Braviary deal with Steel-types such as Steelix, Copperajah, and Bronzong. Special walls such as Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro, Gigalith, and Porygon2 are necessary to aid Silvally-Steel in checking Psychic- and Dragon-types like Gardevoir, Indeedee-F, and Dragalge, as Silvally-Steel gets quickly worn down due to its lack of recovery. Galarian Slowbro uses Silvally-Steel as setup fodder, so Pokemon such as Golurk, Scrafty, and Choice Band Seismitoad that threaten Galarian Slowbro make for great teammates. Fighting- and Ground-type checks such as Galarian Slowbro, Golisopod, and Tangela are vital to check threats like Bewear, Passimian, and Golurk. Silvally-Steel can do very little in return to Fire-types such as Salazzle, Centiskorch, and Charizard, so it appreciates the aid of Fire-type answers like Barraskewda, Dragalge, and Gigalith.
