[OVERVIEW]

Silvally-Steel's the only specially bulky Defogger in NU that can pivot. It can also handle one of the more common Stealth Rock setters in Diancie and the rare Gigalith, discouraging them from setting entry hazards. It's also able to eat up STAB moves from common special wallbreakers like Exploud, Indeedee-F, and Dragalge. Unfortunately, Silvally-Steel lacks any form of recovery and must rely on Wish passers like Vaporeon and Sylveon for this. Additionally, Silvally-Steel often finds itself pivoting out of many defensive threats like Mudsdale, Vaporeon, and Guzzlord and thus can struggle to find opportunities to use Defog.

Defog is best used once Pokemon like Mudsdale and Rhydon are out of commission, since both of them reliably set Stealth Rock on Silvally-Steel. Flamethrower hits opposing Steel-types like Copperajah, Doublade, and Escavalier, as well as Rotom-C, for decent damage. Parting Shot lets Silvally-Steel pivot on Silvally-Ground, Mudsdale, and Copperajah to bring in a wallbreaker and force them out. Alternatively, U-turn stops Magic Bounce Xatu from blocking Silvally-Steel's pivoting and gaining momentum. The given EV spread with a Jolly nature allows Silvally-Steel to outspeed Jolly Tyrantrum.

Since Silvally-Steel lacks any kind of recovery, Wish-passing partners like Vaporeon and Sylveon are appreciated to give it more longevity. Talonflame, Ninjask, and Heliolisk form a VoltTurn core with Silvally-Steel to lure in and pivot on Diancie. Fighting-types like Choice Scarf Passimian and Toxicroak offensively pressure Silvally-Steel with their respective STAB moves. Therefore, having a partner like Vileplume or Garbodor to eat up said moves is appreciated. Wallbreakers like Starmie and Machamp can take advantage of Mudsdale and Copperajah by coming in via Silvally-Steel's pivots. Conversely, special wallbreakers with Fire- or Fighting-type coverage, like Exploud and Choice Specs Dragalge, can be problematic for Silvally-Steel if they predict it switching in. A teammate like Diancie or Vaporeon can give you more leverage when switching around their attacks.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
====

An alternate EV spread of 252 HP / 216 SpD / 40 Spe to outspeed Timid Exploud works as well at the expense of Speed. Silvally-Steel can forgo Flamethrower for Rock Slide to nail Talonflame and Salazzle, but it loses out on hitting opposing Steel-types. Silvally-Steel can also run another utility move like Toxic or Thunder Wave to cripple opposing teams.

Checks and Counters
====

**Fire-types**: Talonflame, Salazzle, and Arcanine force Silvally-Steel out with their STAB moves.

**Stealth Rock Setters**: Common Stealth Rock setters like Mudsdale and Rhydon can keep setting up Stealth Rock with little to no issue while also pressuring Silvally-Steel offensively.

**Fighting-types**: Passimian and Toxicroak are among the Fighting-types that offensively pressure Silvally-Steel with their respective STAB moves. Even against slower Fighting-types like Machamp and Sirfetch'd, Silvally-Steel can do little but pivot out with Parting Shot unless they're sufficiently weakened.

**Fire-type and Fighting-type Coverage**: Special wallbreakers like Exploud, Indeedee-F, and Choice Specs Dragalge can carry super effective coverage to nail Silvally-Steel.

- I feel like U-turn should be a second slash with Parting Shot since Xatu is pretty standard and Parting Shot can be pretty antiproductive when facing it
- Silvally-Steel's unique niche in NU comes from being the only specially bulky defogger that can pivot while still maintaining some sense of offensive utility with Multi-Attack. [I feel like its Defog + Pivot compression should be mentioned especially in line one. I don't even think the Multi Attack point is needed because most "defensive" defoggers have to run their STAB (re: mantine/talonflame/comfey) and it's just straight-up walled by a lot of stuff but you just run it regardless because its STAB.]
- It can also handle one of the more common Stealth Rock setters in Diancie and the rare Gigalith, discouraging them from setting such entry hazards. It's also able to eat up STAB moves from common special wallbreakers like Exploud, Goodra, and Rotom-C. [I feel like putting the longevity line right after this line makes a lot of sense and it flows well.]
- Unfortunately, Silvally-Steel struggles to find opportunities to Defog due to Mudsdale and Bronzong being common Stealth Rock setters that have nothing to fear from it. [Well Silvally-Steel does invite these Pokemon in but its a compression mon as stated before, if Bronzong and Mudsdale tend to come in on Silvally-Steel, I'd personally pair this with like Xatu or even something like Specs-user (decid/rotom/starmie) and pivot as you're expecting the switch. I think saying something like Silvally-Steel is often forced to pivot out of many defensive Pokemon is a more universal term since that also accounts for like Vaporeon/Starmie/Guzzlord and many offensive and defensive Pokemon in the tier. Flamethrower is also a decent way to touch levitate Bronzong]

[Set]
Flamethrower hits opposing Steel-types like Copperajah, Escavalier, and Bronzong as well as Rotom-C and Doublade for decent damage. [Doublade is a Steel-type and its mentioned as if its a non-Steel-type in the examples alongside Rotom-C]

[OO]
Other bulky EV options like 266 Speed for Tyrantrum or 259 for exploud to generally help with spa atks. This point is more generalized and it just points out a customizable spread pmuch. Rocky Slide, Toxic, & Thunder Wave are notable Other Options aswell.

Druddigon is a great partner to pair with Silvally-Steel to form a nice hazard core, since Druddigon hates Fairy-types like Diancie, Comfey, and Sylveon. In return, Druddigon can switch in on Fire-type moves for Silvally-Steel. Swords Dance + Flame Charge lets Silvally-Steel function as a setup sweeper to go along with its decent Speed tier. However, common Pokemon in the tier like Bronzong, Mudsdale, and Vaporeon are just a few issues that prevent it from doing its job reliably. An alternate EV spread of 252 HP / 192 SpD / 64 Spe with a Jolly nature lets Silvally-Steel outspeed Jolly Tyrantrum can be viable, while a spread of 252 HP / 216 SpD / 40 Spe to outspeed Timid Exploud also works. Defog is best used once Pokemon like Mudsdale and Copperajah are out of commission, since both of them reliably set Stealth Rock on Silvally-Steel (Copperajah is a bit shaky of a mention given most Stealth Rock sets drop Heat Crash/Superpower for Rock-type coverage. Rhydon would be a better mention imo). Flamethrower hits opposing Steel-types like Copperajah, Doublade, and Escavalier, as well as Rotom-C for decent damage. Parting Shot lets Silvally-Steel pivot on the aforementioned Mudsdale and Copperajah to bring in a wallbreaker and threaten them out. (niche Pokemon + niche Pokemon = generally impractical teammate suggestion) Since Silvally-Steel lacks any kind of recovery, pairing it with Wish-passing partners like Vaporeon or Sylveon is appreciated to give it more longevity. Talonflame works as a partner to form a VoltTurn core with Silvally-Steel to lure in or pivot on Diancie. (expand here on how in general pivot stacking is very effective and note others. Ninjask would even be an acceptable option here just because of the sample team where you get a really good example of VoltTurn offense) Fighting-types like Sirfetch'd, Machamp, and Passimian offensively pressure Silvally-Steel with their respective STAB moves. Therefore, having a partner like Comfey or Vileplume to eat up said moves is appreciated.(frankly none of these options are overly common at the moment, and Silvally-Steel outruns two of them anyway) Wallbreaking partners like Starmie and Sirfetch'd can take advantage of Mudsdale and Copperajah by coming in via pivot. Conversely, special wallbreakers with Fire- or Fighting-type coverage like Salazzle and Exploud and Choice Specs Dragalge can be problematic for Silvally-Steel. A teammate like the aforementioned Diancie or Talonflame Vaporeon (unsure frankly how I'd refer to a Dragalge check here because it's mostly just.. the other Steel-types. I guess once you know it's Choice Specs you can make these sort of reads though?) can switch into such moves.

**Fire-types**: Talonflame, Salazzle, and Arcanine force Silvally-Steel out with their STAB moves.

(I would rework this to be ordered as follows: Fire-types, Ground-types (this is where you could mention Mudsdale and Rhydon being good at keeping their hazard up against Silvally-Steel), Certain Wallbreakers. As said earlier, I think the point about Fighting-types is mostly moot given the examples you used because you outrun the two threatening ones)

An alternate EV spread of 252 HP / 216 SpD / 40 Spe to outspeed Timid Exploud works as well outspeeds Timid Exploud is there a trade-off to the lower bulk? if so mention that. Silvally-Steel can forgo Flamethrower for Rock Slide to nail Talonflame and Salazzle for decent damage, but it loses out on hitting opposing Steels Steel-types. Silvally-Steel can also run another utility move like Toxic or Thunder Wave to cripple opposing teams over what move?.

**Ground-type I think this makes sense, since the Ground STAB is what forces it out Stealth Rock setters**: Common Stealth Rock setters like Mudsdale and Rhydon can keep setting up Stealth Rock with little-to-no issue while also pressuring Silvally-Steel offensively.

**Fighting-types**: Passimian and Toxicroak are among the Fighting-types that offensively pressure Silvally-Steel with their respective STAB moves. Silvally-Steel may be faster than others like Sirfetch'd and Machamp, but it can pivot out on them via Parting Shot. this second sentence confuses me, is it saying Sirfetch'd and Machamp do not check Silv? if so it can be removed, and maybe update the title to **Fast Fighting-types**

**Fire- and Fighting-type Coverage**: Special wallbreakers like Exploud and Choice Specs Dragalge can carry coverage like Overheat or Focus Blast to nail Silvally-Steel.

Fighting-types like Choice Scarf Passimian and Toxicroak offensively pressure Silvally-Steel with their respective STAB moves. Therefore, having a partner like Vileplume or Garbodor to eat up said moves is appreciated. Wallbreaking partners Wallbreakers like Starmie and Sirfetch'd Machamp can take advantage of Mudsdale and Copperajah by coming in via pivot. Conversely, special wallbreakers with Fire- or Fighting-type coverage like Exploud and Choice Specs Dragalge can be problematic for Silvally-Steel if they predict it switching in. A teammate like the aforementioned Diancie or Vaporeon can switch into such moves gives you more leverage when switching around their attacks.

An alternate EV spread of 252 HP / 216 SpD / 40 Spe to outspeed Timid Exploud works as well at the expense of bulk. Silvally-Steel can forgo Flamethrower for Rock Slide to nail Talonflame and Salazzle for decent damage, but it loses out on hitting opposing Steel-types. Silvally-Steel can also run another utility move like Toxic or Thunder Wave to cripple opposing teams.

Checks and Counters
====

**Fire-types**: Talonflame, Salazzle, and Arcanine force Silvally-Steel out with their STAB moves.

**Stealth Rock Setters**: Common Stealth Rock setters like Mudsdale and Rhydon can keep setting up Stealth Rock with little-to-no issue while also pressuring Silvally-Steel offensively.

Even against slower Fighting-types like Machamp and Sirfetch'd, Silvally-Steel can do little but pivot out with Parting Shot unless they're sufficiently weakened.

**Fire- and Fighting-type Coverage**: Special wallbreakers like Exploud, Indeedee-F, and Choice Specs Dragalge can carry super effective coverage like Overheat or Focus Blast to nail Silvally-Steel.

Additionally, Silvally-Steel often finds itself pivoting out of many defensive threats in the tier like Mudsdale, Vaporeon, and Guzzlord and thus can struggle to find opportunities to use Defog as well.

Parting Shot lets Silvally-Steel pivot on Silvally-Ground, Mudsdale, and Copperajah to bring in a wallbreaker and threaten force them out. Alternatively, U-turn can be used to avoid letting Magic Bounce Xatu block stops Magic Bounce Xatu from blocking Silvally-Steel's pivoting and gaining momentum. The given EV spread with a Jolly nature allows Silvally-Steel to outspeed Jolly Tyrantrum. (removed extra period)
