Can a pokemon gain EV's if they aren't getting EXP?
That'd be awesome. Redis rights mean nothing to me, as I don't trade to up-trade. ;)
In 5th and 6th gen., yes. Gen 3 and 4, no.
I just tried EV training my pokemon and it gained no EV's... am I doing something wrong? :/
EV points are only given if exp is also given. The person above is wrong, unfortunately, which is why I chose to keep the EVs on my level 100 Shiny Vaporeon, even if they weren't perfect. You'll have to Super Train or grind the sod out of vitamins.

Actually hes not wrong...you can still ev the pokemon (definitely by supertraining if nothing else) but as of gen 5 you could redo evs, you just had to put it in the pc afterwards or something like that

This is no longer the case; they are now calculated after each battle. What this means is that it is now possible for you to EV train a level 100 Pokemon, if you so choose.
As long as the wondercard language matches your game, it should be okay.

so i am about to MM breed for a shiny donphan. But i noticed on the recomended sets for donphan is to have sturdy rapid spin but doesn;t sturdy seem superfluous since study will be broken once it switches in? sand veil isn't that breat either but it seems kind of redundant for a spinning donphan to have sturdy? any thoughts?

Yeaa Machamp is Outclassed by conkeldurr between Conk's drain punch and mach punch, but Machamp is cool. Is Machamp still a good idea considering he'd be hard to kill between assault vest and dynamic punch's confusion?

Usually donphan has lefties that will restore sturdy if sr is it's only damage coming in
Sturdy isn't necessarily for Rapid Spin, it's convenient in other situations as well. Basically, it's a free Focus Sash, allowing you to run another item, and giving Donphan another turn to inflict damage, or whatever. Compared to Sturdy, Sand Veil is utterly useless.
Personally, I lead with it, its good to SR on turn 1 and Sturdy prevents KOs from Greninja and such. Lefties also heal off the smidgen of SR damage it takes.
Its also really funny to Custap Berry + Endeavor something right before going down. Sand veil is only ever relevant in Sand; Sturdy is good everywhere else.
Also good to park in front of a set up Pokémon that can't survive a hit, while Sturdy says "lol, I can". Forced to die or switch out and lose boosts.
Hey guys im willing to iv breed or ev train for your legendaries! you can name 3-4 pokemon that you need depending on how hard they are to get for me to breed, with egg moves and nature, for your legendary. OR you can give me 6 of your pokemon that still need to be ev'd, and i will do that for you, just give me the spread that you need. I most likely already got the pokemon that you need the ev's on and you dont need to trade me all 6 at once, so dont worry about scams. The reason im doing this is that im going for all ubers, but i dont really have any good pokemon to trade you back.

well lefties can recover the health lost from your SR switch-in and there are other ways you can recover health back to 100%, like with wish support. Sand Veil needs sand support and with limited turns of sand plus the unreliability of sand veil kinda makes sand veil a bad choice for donphan
Also, I'm sure you know but Level Ball with sand veil isn't legal.
