Also, if you're vengeful, remember that Whimsicott can learn Stun Spore and Swagger, so a set with Sub, Stun Spore, and Swagger could work too.

Personally though, I think Leech Seed is a great move on Whimsi, and I would slash it with protect, sub, or taunt (Taunt and Sub on the same set is a tiny bit redundant imo). It can also give you more momentum.

Even though we already have a clear winner this week, I wanted to post this anyway because I’ve already played around with the calcs while writing this so might as well :D
I think Avalugg is a great check to SwagPlay users, thanks to his ability Own Tempo which prevents confusion, it can safely switch into any SwagPlay users.
STAB Avalanche will OHKO more than half the listed pokemon.
Rest is necessary to prevent Toxic stall, or be crippled by Burn.
Sleep Talk is there so Avalugg is not a sitting duck during sleep (or Spore).
Curse rounds off this set nicely giving boosts in both atk and def, so that Foul Play will not be able to completely overpower Avalugg at +6, it’s also needed to set up against Klefki who won’t be taking much from Avalanche.

I need to give Mega Sableye a shot, the thought of beating down SwagPlay, Kangaskhan and Breloom in one teamslot is really appealing...
 
bobochan due to surprise factor. Though swagplay has luck elements, vs things like offensive phys attackers it is a big no if you are using swagplay legitimately which would be for having relatively passive mons like walls kill emselves. That is why Avalugg vs Dnite, I'd pick the avalugg even w/o own tempo but own tempo really makes it more interesting. Safeguard is sweet tho especially for the team, but ditto will come in and copy your boosts etc. soooo Id rather it be a more passive n lol choice scarf lol avalugg
 
I'm voting for Freekhoorn's Whimsicott, having used it in AG with great success. I'd replace protect with leech seed though, as protect seems like a waay too specific move that leaves whimsy nearly useless after stoping the swag-player.

One of the best things with whimsy is it's ability to force out swag-play users with taunt, and then start sub-seeding on the switch :) it also doesn't take an incredibly valuable mega slot.
Btw, mega sableye is weak to persim-berry play rough swagger substitute klefki.

GroudonEmpire because Mega Sableye just holds the middle finger to SwagPlay and T-Wave. Not to mention that it's the only viable Magic Bouncer to take on pokes who use SwagPlay.

Bonus points to bobochan for a really unique and eye-catching set for Avalugg. I would've voted for you, but para hax is always a thing =/
 
Well I'm sure it comes as no surprise that GroudonEmpire's Mega Sableye set won this week. If you really hate SwagPlay and can spare the slot, Sableye really screws it up for the opponent! Just remember that you don't have Magic Bounce before mega-evolving, so don't go switching it into a Taunt or Swagger in regular form!

Onto the next victim. I'm surprised we actually haven't done this one yet since it's a super popular mon and causes headaches for many offensive teams. We're gonna talk about ways to stop Smogonbird Talonflame! I suppose the reason we haven't done Talonflame yet is because it has some pretty obvious counters, but not everyone wants to put a Rotom on their team, so try to be creative with your nominations!

More or less any viable Rock-type is capable of switching in on Talonflame, unless it has a secondary type that compromises its resistance to Fire or Flying. Tyrantrum doesn't have that problem, so it can pretty safely come in on any of Talonflame's attacks (besides Will-o-Wisp T.T) and obliterate it with a Head Smash. It also discourages switches because Head Smash obliterates most other things too n_n The other moves are just for hitting the things that maybe could switch in on Head Smash: Outrage donks Garchomp and acts as a secondary STAB for when Tyrantrum is cleaning up but you don't want to risk Head Smash's terrible accuracy, Earthquake hits Aegislash, Metagross and Excadrill, and Fire Fang hits Skarmory, Ferrothorn and Scizor. A decent Garchomp replacement for when you have a Scarf Garchomp but Talonflame sweeps you [:

Nominating Mega Ampharos as a great check to Talonflame~

A Bold nature and defensive spread is necessary to take a possible banded Flare Blitz before mega evolution, still preventing a 2OHKO after mega evolving.
Volt Switch offers nice momentum and Power Gem to hit the likes of Talonflame and Volcarona.
HP Ice gives near perfect coverage along with Volt Switch which OHKOs those 4x weak to it.
Finally Focus Blast for Mega Kang, Heatran and Tyranitar.

Aerodactyl can take 2 banded BB's if necessary. It outspeeds talon so you can KO it with Rock Slide without worrying about will o wisp shenanigans. It's a pretty safe check with roost since you can roost off any damage you took from brave birds. You can use stone edge too but for beating talon, rock slide is fine and safer. And if you want to be really safe you could even run rock tomb, doesnt matter much for this purpose.

Bog standard defensive rotom-h. Resists both of talonflame's STABs and can hit back hard with its own thunderbolts. If talonflame U-turns out, you can maintain your momentum by volt switching. Pain split and chesto-resto are also options if you need more recovery.

Rotom-H's typing + ability makes it a great blanket check to many pokemon, so it's pretty easy to fit it on a team. Just watch out for rock moves and mold breaker excadrills!

I don't really know too well if this actually works well in Battle Spot itself, but I thought it would be a fun idea nominating it. :D This set counters all versions of Talonflame, although watch out for switching into boosted ones. Omastar can even take advantage of Talonflame by setting up Rain Dance if you don't have a rain setter (which you most likely won't since rain teams are medicore in BSS) and attempt a sweep with its doubled speed. Hydro Pump is for STAB and Talonflame, Ice Beam is for Dragons, Shell Smash can be used if you're using a rain team with Omastar, rain dance otherwise, and HP grass is for coverage since bulky waters wall this set. Earth Power can be used too, but you miss out on coverage for Rotom-W.
This poke does best on Rain teams, but if you're just planning to just slap it onto your team, make sure that you use rain dance.

Magcargo had shown to be somewhat of an interest to me a few days ago fiddling with it as of recent. I know it's quite underrated, but Magcargo can really wall Talonflame given that its Rock / Fire typing resists both Brave Bird and Flare Blitz. With Magcargo being 4x resistant against Fire and 2x resistant to Flying and Bug moves. Not to mention, Magcargo is immune to burn so Will-O-Wisp is useless. I even forgot that it has access to Recover as well. The fiery slug is pretty overshadowed, but it can hold its own against certain Pokemon in battle. Lets get started with the moveset.

Recover gives Magcargo a reliable way to replenish HP after taking damage. With that in mind especially 1v1 (even when Talonflame is the only remaining Pokemon left on the opponent's side), Magcargo can just stall out Talonflame's Brave Birds and Flare Blitz, as it takes damage from recoil. Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple predicted switch-ins for physical attacks if they choose to switch Talonflame out. Toxic can be an alternative to increase residual damage every turn while stalling with Recover. Lava Plume can be a choice to use to attack at a chance to get possible burns as well. Fire Blast can be used as an alternate for more power but with less accuracy. It can get rid of Grass-, Steel-, Ice-, and Bug-types. Ancient Power is another STAB move for Magcargo hitting Bug-, Fire-, Flying-, and Ice-types such as Volcarona, Charizard, Salamence, Thundurus, and Glalie. Also if you're lucky enough, Magcargo would get a possible increase in Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed!!! For the given EVs, 244 HP and 252 Defense with a Bold nature maximizes Magcargo's defensive capabilities. The remaining 12 Special Attack gives Magcargo a little damage output. Flame Body can get burns on Pokemon that make contact with it.

Be careful of Ground-, Water-, and Fighting-types and moves.

I didn't expect to actually find much in the way of usage stats for this but there's quite the assortment of items here. Choice Band is solid given that Relicanth is one of the five Rock types that gets Head Smash, and really Talonflame can't do anything to Relicanth regardless thanks to base 100 HP and 130 Def. Even a burned Relicanth is going to smash the bird so that's a nonfactor when it comes to just beating Talonflame. Waterfall is the obligatory safe secondary STAB though Aqua Tail works if you're not afraid of missing already with Head Smash. Earthquake rounds out coverage with Head Smash and also lets it hit grounded Electric types and Mega Lucario (good luck surviving special hits though), and Zen Headbutt lets it hit Fighting types like Conkeldurr, Breloom and Mega Lopunny on a switch-in. Really the only other option would be Double-Edge to abuse Rock Head but I can't think of anything that hits.

Alternatively you can go for a Brave nature built as a countermeasure to Trick Room or if you want Relicanth to have a chance to outspeed anything, though Relicanth kinda struggles to beat opposing Trick Room Pokemon so that could run into trouble against other Trick Room builds. Relicanth could be kinda fun and options like Rock Tomb, Yawn and Stealth Rock gives it some nice utility beyond Choice Band but this is something that really needs team support if you're using it to beat Talonflame over another Rock type.
