1v1 Slaking (QC 3/3) (GP 2/2)

[OVERVIEW]

Slaking’s obscene power enables it to deal with some of 1v1’s bulkiest threats like non-Will-O-Wisp Mega Charizard X, Kommo-o, Primarina, and Tapu Fini. It also has a great movepool with coverage against other common metagame threats including Zygarde, Heatran, and Genesect and can utilize alternative spreads to beat bulkier Pokemon like Mega Gyarados. However, Slaking’s awful ability in Truant leaves it open every other turn, which is taken advantage of by Protect or Substitute users and Pokemon that are able to survive Slaking's first hit and have the means to KO it back like Aegislash and Mega Gyarados. It also faces competition from Pokemon like Diggersby, which swaps bulk and greater power on Giga Impact for a more powerful Earthquake and a better ability.

[SET]
name: Bulky Choice Band
move 1: Giga Impact
move 2: Ice Punch
move 3: Hammer Arm / Earthquake
move 4: Fire Punch / Earthquake
item: Choice Band
ability: Truant
nature: Adamant
evs: 68 HP / 232 Atk / 100 SpD / 108 Spe

Moves
========
Giga Impact is usually Slaking's most used move with its high Base Power and STAB, OHKOing foes that aren't overly bulky like Tapu Fini, Primarina, and non-Will-O-Wisp Mega Charizard X. Ice Punch is used against Pokemon like Zygarde, non-Substitute Garchomp, and non-bulky Dragonite. Hammer Arm is useful against Heatran and Mega Tyranitar. Fire Punch is mainly for matchups against 4x super effective targets that either Slaking outspeeds or can't knock it out in one turn, like Ferrothorn, Genesect, and Kartana. Earthquake is useful in matchups where Giga Impact is resisted, such as against Excadrill, offensive Mega Metagross, and Choice Band Zeraora.

Set Details
========

68 HP EVs in combination with 100 Special Defense EVs allows Slaking to tank attacks from Choice Specs Genecect and Choice Specs Greninja, as well as letting it take a Head Smash from Choice Band Archeops. 108 Speed EVs are particularly for outspeeding maximum Speed Breloom, as well as fast Dragonite and fast Mega Venusaur. 232 Attack EVs along with Choice Band and an Adamant nature guarantee an OHKO on fast Dragonite with Ice Punch and on Pokemon like Primarina and Tapu Fini with Giga Impact.

Alternatively, you can run 72 HP and 248 Defense EVs, with the rest of the EVs invested into Attack with an Adamant nature, to survive two +1 Waterfalls from Mega Gyarados and 2HKO in return, as well as beating non-Bulk Up Zeraora. Alternatively, you could run maximum Speed and Attack investment with a Jolly nature for outspeeding Tapu Lele and Normalium Z Porygon-Z.

Usage Tips
========

Try to send Slaking against weaker foes that don't have the best offensive prowess like Breloom or, if you are running the bulkier EV spread, Mega Gyarados, as you can 2HKO it safely. Remember not to send Slaking against Fake Out, Protect, and fast Substitute users such as occurring Incineroar, Aegislash, and Substitute Mega Charizard X or Landorus-T. Giga Impact is the move you’ll want to spam, unless the opposing Pokemon resists it or is 4x weak to another move, including cases like offensive Dragonite, Landorus-T, and Genesect. You should also use 100% accurate moves like Ice Punch and Earthquake whenever applicable instead of Giga Impact, so you don't risk the 10% chance of missing against foes like Choice Band Garchomp and Victini. When Slaking is up against stall foes that it can't beat otherwise, the optimal play is to either use Giga Impact if a critical hit can OHKO the opposing Pokemon or spam Ice Punch to attempt to freeze it.

Team Options
========

Bulky special Psychic-types are generally good teammates for Slaking because they cover up its weakness to Fighting-types like Mega Lucario and Pheromosa and to common heavy-hitters that rely on their abilities like Donphan, Golem, and Dragonite. Alongside this, a physical / special attacker pairing is usually a good way to cover a variety of threats. In return, Slaking can be a effective Psychic-type partner, as it can smash frail Bug- and Ghost-types like Mega Heracross and Blacephalon fairly well. While Dark-types like Mega Sableye can often be a problem for Slaking, Fairy-types like Tapu Lele, Mega Gardevoir, and Clefable generally have a good matchup against them. Teammates that cover Slaking’s ability and beat Protect and fast Substitute users include Pokemon like Volcarona, Serperior, and Greninja. Volcarona and Serperior benefit from Substitute and their Special Attack-boosting moves to pressure opposing utility Pokemon, not to mention Volcarona can hit through Substitute with Bug Buzz, while Greninja's great movepool, power, and Speed typically grant it a great matchup against most Protect and Substitute users like Jumpluff and Mega Swampert. In return, Slaking deals with bulky offensive Pokemon that can survive weaker attacks and OHKO back like non-Will-O-Wisp Mega Charizard X and Kommo-o. Sturdy users like Crustle and Magnezone often pose a threat to Slaking; naturally, Pokemon that beat them can fit well with it. These would include Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, fast Donphan, and special Dragonite. In return, Slaking covers up most faster frail foes that intimidate them like Mega Diancie and Tapu Bulu.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

While Slaking’s main set is Choice Band, there are also two other variants you could run. A Choice Scarf set takes advantage of the gained Speed to OHKO fast frail foes like offensive Mega Gardevoir and Choice Scarf Porygon Z. However, this set comes up short of OHKOing bulkier threats like Tapu Fini and Kommo-o. The other set, which is less common, is stall. This set takes advantage of Slaking’s ability and natural bulk to PP stall Pokemon like Mega Slowbro and Type: Null. This usually runs Amnesia / Bulk Up / Rest. However, this set lacks power to KO threats and relies too much on its bulk to survive multiple hits.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Protect and Fast Substitute Users**: Protect and faster Substitute users completely nullify Choice Band Slaking because of its Truant ability. Pokemon that take advantage of these moves are Whimsicott, Landorus-T, Groundium Z Garchomp, Mega Blaziken, Jumpluff, Mega Swampert, Serperior, and Aegislash.

**Fake Out Users**: A Fake Out flinch turn 1 triggers Truant the next turn for Slaking and allows the foe to freely use a super effective attack or boosting move. This makes most matchups against common foes like Mega Lopunny, Incineroar, Mega Medicham, and Zeraora completely unreliable and an uphill battle for Slaking.

**Steel-types**: Most Steel-types can tank Slaking's attacks fairy well and overwhelm it either through boosting or simply by KOing it within a few turns. Some Steel-types worth mentioning would be Magearna, bulky Mega Metagross, Celesteela, Mega Mawile, and Registeel.

**Bulky Offense**: While most Steel-types also fit into this category, generally Pokemon that can withstand attacks and have a followup can beat Slaking. For example, Mega Gyarados, bulky Dragonite, and Kyurem all have some way to combat Slaking after its first attack while it's loafing around.

**Bulky Stall**: Bulky stall Pokemon such as Mega Slowbro, Mega Sableye, and Type: Null usually can easily deal with Slaking's attacks and gain the initiative to set up because of Truant.

**Sturdy Users**: Pokemon like Donphan, Magnezone, Crustle, Sawk, and Carracosta can take advantage of their ability in Sturdy to usually get the edge over Slaking because it needs at least three turns to KO them.

**Fighting-types**: Most Fighting-types have the advantage not only typing but also in Speed. This allows Pokemon like Mega Lucario and Pheromosa to easily gain a win over Slaking.

Slaking takes advantage of its speed tier to act as a powerful hitter that also has decent bulk as well. Its obscene power is able to deal with some of 1v1’s bulkiest threats like Mega Gyarados, Charizard X, Primarina, and Tapu fini. Slaking also has a great movepool with coverage thats good against other common 1v1 metagame threats including things like non-bulk up Lando-t, Heatran, and Jirachi. However, Slaking’s awful ability in truant leaves it open every other turn, which is taken advantage of by protect/ sub users. It is also rivaled by mons like diggersby which swaps bulk for a more powerful eq and a better ability.
This needs to be in bullet points, and the rest of the analysis format has to be here as well

-68 Hp in combination with 100 Spdef allows Slaking to tank Specs Naganadel.
-68 Hp alone allows you to bulk Band Archeops, and +44 bulky Mega Gyarados.
-108 Spe is for things Breloom, speedy Dragonite, and fast Mega Venuasaur.
-232 Atk, adamant along with band guarantees a OKHO to 0/0 speedy Dragonite with Ice Punch, alongside Pokemon like Primarina and Tapu Fini.
-Alternatively, you can run 72 Hp, 248 Def what nature? what about the other evs? to beat offensive Mega Gyarados, and 100% beat non bulk up Zeraora. Or you could run max speed and max Attack with a Jolly Nature for Tapu Lele/ Z, Porygon Z.

Usage Tips

-Typically you’re going to want to send Slaking against mons that you can OKHO/ Possibly 2 hit KO because its left vulnerable half of the turns in a battle. such as? what mons fall under this

A few things
the grammar needs work, you should read over https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/spelling-and-grammar-standards.3588427/ this for your article. Basically, you need to make these all into complete sentences.

you also need more examples, and to capitalize proper nouns. Tag me when this is done.

-Ice Punch is used in matchups such as non-Bulk Up Landorus-T, Garchomp, and non-bulky Dragonite.
-Hammer Arm is useful in the case of Heatran or generally Rock-types like Mega Tyranitar. Either delete this or find another Rock-type that Slaking can beat.
-Fire punch is mainly for the x4 super-effective matchups where either you outspeed the opponent or they can't knock you out in one turn, like Ferrothorn, Genesect, or Kartana.

-68 HP in combination with 100 Special Defense allows Slaking to tank both Choice Specs Naganadel, Choice Specs Genesect, and Greninja, as well as letting you live an attack from Choice Band Archeops. I'd mention being able to tank a Choice Specs Genesect's Bug Buzz, too. (+1 252 SpA Choice Specs Genesect Bug Buzz vs. 68 HP / 100 SpD Slaking: 385-454 (84 - 99.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO)
-108 Speed is for things like particularly outspeeding max speed Breloom, while also outspeeding at the same time fast Dragonite, and fast Mega Venuasaur.
-232 Attack, Adamant along with Choice Band guarantees a OKHO to speedy Dragonite with Ice Punch, alongside Pokemon like Primarina and Tapu Fini with Giga Impact.

Some good examples of this are non-Charm Defensive Mega Venuasaur, or if you are running the more bulky Slaking spread, Mega Gyarados. I'd give a different example than MVenu, there are too many exceptions for Slaking to be a reliable counter
-Remember to try not to send Slaking against Fake Out, Protect, and fast Substitute users. Some common examples of this are the occurring Aegislash, Zeraora, and Incineroar. Replace either Zeraora or Incineroar with a Substitute user.
- Giga Impact is the move you’ll want to spam, unless cases where the opposing Pokemon resists, or is 4x Super Effective weak to another move. These would include some things I’ve already mentioned like offensive Dragonite, Landorus-T, and Genesect. You should also use 100% accurate moves, like Ice Punch or Earthquake, whenever applicable instead of Giga Impact, so you don't risk the 10% chance of missing, against foes like Choice Band Garchomp and Victini.
- When against stall that you can't beat otherwise, the optimal play is to either use Giga Impact if a critical hit can OHKO the opposing Pokemon, or spam Ice Punch to attempt to freeze the opposing Pokemon.

-Bulky special Psychic-types are generally good teammates for Slaking because they cover up its Fighting-type weakness, and the common heavy hitters that rely on their abilities like Donphan, Golem, and Dragonite. Along with the fact that a physical-special ratio is usually just good, to cover a variety of threats. While Slaking can be an effective Psychic-type partner as it can smash frail bug, and ghost types like Mega Herracross, and Blacephadon fairly well. Whilst Dark Types can often be a problem for Slaking, many common Psychic-types with a second typing or powerful coverage in the 1v1 metagame can handle them. Some good examples of ideal special psychics are Tapu Lele, Mega Gardevoir and Singal Beam Necrozma.
-Pokemon that cover up for Slaking’s ability / beat Protect and fast Substitute-users are also typically good teammates. These may include Pokemon from like Volcarona, Serperior, to and Greninja. Volcarona and Serperior benefit from Substitute and their Special Attack boosting to pressure opposing utility users, plus Volcarona can hit through Substitute with Bug Buzz, when while Greninja profits from its great movepool, power, and speed that typically has a great matchup against most Protect and Substitute users. What does Slaking do in return?
-Sturdy users often pose a threat to Slaking. So naturally, Pokemon that beat them can fit well with it. These would include Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, fast Donphan, and special Dragonite. In return, Slaking covers up most faster frail Pokemon that Intimidate them like Greninja or Tapu Bulu. Choose a different example than Greninja, 2/3 of the examples don't always lose to Greninja

-While Slaking’s main set is Choice Band, there are also two other variants you could run. Choice Scarf, being the main other one which takes advantage of the gained speed to OKHO fast frail mons like offensive Mega Gardevoir, and Scarf Porygon-Z. Mention what Slaking loses out on with this set.
-The other set which is least common is stall. This takes advantage of Slaking’s ability and natural bulk to PP stall the opponent. This usually runs Amnesia / Bulk Up / Rest / Attack. Mention what Slaking loses out on with this set, and also specifically what this set beats.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Protect or fast Substitute users**: Protect or faster Substitute users completely nullify Choice Band Slaking because of its Truant ability. Pokemon that take advantage of this are Whimsicott, Torrent Greninja, Mega Alakazam, and Aegislash.

**Fake Out users**: Fake Out flinching turn 1, triggers Truant the next turn for Slaking. This makes most matchups completely unreliable and is a up hill battle for it Slaking. Specification Some common Pokemon you'll see on the ladder using Fake Out are Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, and Zeraora which can Fake Out into a super-effective attack or a boosting move.

**Bulky Ghost-types**: They usually can easily deal with Slaking's attacks, as they are immune to Giga Impact and hit neutrally otherwise. An example of this would be Mega Sableye. This is the only Ghost-type that is really bulky other than Aegislash, though Aegislash is already mentioned. I'd change this category to stall Pokemon.

**Sturdies**: Mons like Donphan, Magnezone, Crustle, Carracosta can take advantage of their ability in Sturdy to usually get the edge over Slaking because it takes at least 3 turns for it to kill the Sturdy user. This gives them the opportunity to move 2-3 turns on an unboosted Pokemon Slaking.

**Fighting Types**: Most Fighting-types not only have the advantage of typing, but stats in speed. This allows mons like Mega Lucario and Pheromosa to easily gain a win over Slaking.

Team Options

Bulky special Psychic-types (AH) are generally good teammates for Slaking because they cover up its Fighting type weakness to Pokémon Fighting-type Pokemon like Mega Lucario or and Pheromosa (RC) and the to common heavy-hitters (AH) that rely on their abilities like Donphan, Golem, and Dragonite. Alongside this, with the fact that a physical / special ratio attacker pairing (if i guessed properly what was meant here?) is usually just a good way (RC) to cover a variety of threats. While In return, Slaking can be a effective Psychic-type (AH) partner, (AC) as it can smash frail Bug- (AH) and Ghost-types (AH) like Mega Herracross, Heracross and Blacephadon Blacephalon fairly well. Whilst While Dark-types (AH) like Mega Sableye can often be a problem for Slaking, Fairy-types (AH) like Tapu Lele, Mega Gardevoir, (AC) and Clefable generally have a good matchup against them. Mons Teammates that cover up for Slaking’s ability and beat Protect and fast Substitute users are also typically good teammates. These may include mons Pokemon like Volcarona, Serperior, and Greninja. Volcarona and Serperior benefit from Substitute and their Spatk Special Attack-boosting moves to pressure opposing utility users Pokemon, plus not to mention Volcarona can hit through Substitute with Bug Buzz, while Greninja's profits from its great movepool, power, and speed that typically has grant it a great matchup against most Protect and Substitute users like Jumpluff or and Mega Swampert. In return, (AC) Slaking deals with bulky offensive Pokémon that can survive weaker attacks and OKHO OHKO back like non-Will-O-Wisp Mega Charizard X or and Kommo-o. Sturdy users like Crustle or and Magnezone often pose a threat to Slaking; (SC) So naturally, mons Pokemon that beat them can fit well with it. While Slaking’s main set is Choice Band, there are also two other variants you could run. Choice Scarf, being is the main other one, (AC) takes taking advantage of the gained speed to OKHO OHKO fast frail mons foes like offensive Mega Gardevoir (RC) and Choice Scarf Porygon Z. However, this set comes up short of OKHO’ing OHKOing bulkier threats like Tapu Fini, or and Kommo-o. The other set, (AC) which is least less common, (AC) is stall. This set takes advantage of Slaking’s ability and natural bulk to PP stall the opponent Pokemon like Mega Slowbro and Type: Null. This usually runs Amnesia / Bulk Up / Rest / Attack. (mention the actual attacking movehere) This can be useful to out stall Pokémon like Mega Slowbro and Type: Null thanks to it’s ability in Truant. However, this set lacks power to KO opposing threats and relies too much on its bulk to survive multiple hits.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Protect or Fast Substitute Users**: Protect (remove slash) and faster Substitute users completely nullify Choice Band Slaking because of its Truant ability. Pokemon that take advantage of this these moves are Whimsicott, Landorus-T, Groundium Z Garchomp, Mega Blaziken, Jumpluff, Mega Swampert, Serperior, and Aegislash.

**Fake Out Users**: A Fake Out flinching turn 1 (RC) triggers Truant the next turn for Slaking and allows the foe to freely use a super effective attack or boosting move. This makes most matchups against common foes like Mega Lopunny, Incineroar, Mega Medicham, and Zeraora completely unreliable and is a up hill an uphill battle for Slaking. Some common Pokemon you'll see on the ladder using Fake out are Mega Lopunny, Incineroar, Mega Medicham, and Zeraora which can fake out into a Super Effective attack or a boosting move.

**Steel-types**: (AH) Most Steel-types can tank Slakings Slaking's attacks fairy well and then overwhelm it with either through boosting or having the means to kill you simply by KOing it within a few turns. Some Steel-types (AH) worth mentioning would be Magearna, bulky Mega Metagross, Celesteela, Mega Mawile, and Registeel.

**Bulky Offense**: While most Steel-types also fit into this category, generally Pokémon Pokemon that can withstand attacks and have a follow up followup can often beat Slaking. For example, Mega Gyarados, bulky Dragonite, and Kyurem all have some way combat Slaking after its first attack which leads to a Truant turn while it's loafing around.

**Bulky Stall**: They Bulky stall Pokemon such as Mega Slowbro, Mega Sableye, and Type: Null usually can easily deal with Slaking's attacks (RC) and then gain the initiative to set up because of Truant. Some good examples of this would be Mega Slowbro, Mega Sableye, or Type: Null.

**Sturdies Sturdy Users**: Mons Pokemon like Donphan, Magnezone, Crustle, Sawk, and Carracosta can take advantage of their ability in Sturdy to usually get the edge over Slaking because it takes needs at least three turns for it to kill the Sturdy user to KO them. This gives them the opportunity to move 2-3 turns on a unboosted Slaking.

**Fighting-types**: (AH) Most Fighting-types (AH) not only have the advantage of not only typing (RC) but stats also in Speed. This allows mons Pokemon like Mega Lucario and Pheromosa to easily gain a win over Slaking.

[OVERVIEW]

Slaking’s obscene power is able enables it to deal with some of 1v1’s bulkiest threats like non-Will-O-Wisp Mega Charizard X, Kommo-o, Primarina, and Tapu Fini. It also has a great movepool with coverage thats good against other common 1v1 metagame threats including things like Zygarde, Heatran, and Genesect. Or, it and can utilize alternative spreads to beat bulkier Pokémon Pokemon like Mega Gyarados. However, Slaking’s awful ability in Truant leaves it open every other turn, which is taken advantage of by protect/ sub Protect or Substitute users or if they and Pokemon that are able to survive your Slaking's first hit and have the means to kill you KO it back like Aegislash (RC) and Mega Gyarados. It is also rivaled by mons faces competition from Pokemon like Diggersby, (AC) which swaps bulk and a less powerful greater power on Giga Impact for a more powerful Earthquake and a better ability.

[SET]
name: Bulky Choice Band
move 1: Giga Impact
move 2: Ice Punch
move 3: Hammer Arm / Earthquake
move 4: Fire Punch / Earthquake
item: Choice Band
ability: Truant
nature: Adamant
evs: 68 HP / 232 Atk / 100 SpD / 108 Spe

Moves
========
Giga Impact is usually your Slaking's most used move, having a with its high Base Power and STAB, (comma) This OKHO’s mons OHKOing foes that aren't overly bulky like Tapu Fini, Primarina, and non-Will-O-Wisp (AH) Mega Charizard X. Ice Punch is used in matchups against Pokemon like Zygarde, non-Substitute Garchomp, and non-bulky Dragonite. Hammer Arm is useful in the case of against Heatran and Mega Tyranitar. Fire Punch is mainly for the x4 matchups against 4x super effective matchups targets where that either you outspeed Slaking outspeeds the opponent or they can't knock you it out in one turn, like Ferrothorn, Genesect, or and Kartana. Earthquake is useful in matchups where Giga Impact is resisted, (comma) and is helpful with Pokemon like such as against Excadrill, offensive Mega Metagross, and Choice Band Zeraora.

Set Details
========

68 HP EVs in combination with 100 Special Defense allows allows Slaking to tank both attacks from all of Choice Specs Naganadel, Choice Specs Genecect, and Choice Specs Greninja, as well as letting you live it take a Head Smash from Choice Band Archeops. 108 Speed EVs is for are particularly for outspeeding maximum Speed Breloom, while also outspeeding at the same time as well as fast Dragonite (RC) and fast Mega Venuasaur Venusaur. 232 Attack EVs (RC) adamant along with Choice Band and an Adamant nature guarantees guarantee an OKHO to OHKO on speedy Dragonite with Ice Punch (RC) alongside and on Pokemon like Primarina and Tapu Fini with Giga Impact.

Alternatively, you can run 72 HP (RC) and 248 Defense EVs, with the rest of the EVs invested into Attack with an Adamant nature, (AC) to survive two +1 Waterfall’s Waterfalls from Mega Gyarados and 2 hit KO 2HKO in return, (AC) as well as beating non-Bulk Up Zeraora. Or Alternatively, you could run maximum Speed and max Attack with a Jolly nature for outspeeding Tapu Lele and Normalium Z Porygon-Z. (AH)

Usage Tips
========

Try to send Slaking against weaker mons foes that don't have the best offensive prowess like Breloom (RC) or, if you are running the more bulky Slaking bulkier EV spread, Mega Gyarados, as you can 2HKO it safely. Remember to try not to send Slaking against Fake Out, Protect, and fast Substitute users. Some common examples of this are the such as occurring Aegislash, Incineroar, Aegislash, and Substitute users like Sub Mega Charizard X or Landorus-T. Giga Impact is the move you’ll want to spam, unless cases where the opposing Pokemon resists (RC) it or is 4x weak to another move, (comma) These would include some things i’ve already mentioned including cases like offensive Dragonite, Landuros-t Landorus-T, and Genesect.(space)You should also use 100% accurate moves (RC) like Ice Punch or and Earthquake (RC) whenever applicable instead of Giga Impact, so you don't risk the 10% chance of missing (RC) against foes like Choice Band Garchomp and Victini. When Slaking is up against stall foes that you it can't beat otherwise, the optimal play is to either use Giga Impact if a critical hit can OHKO the opposing Pokemon (RC) or spam Ice Punch to attempt to freeze the opposing Pokemon it.

Team Options
========

These would include Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, fast Donphan, and special Dragonite. In return, Slaking covers up most faster frail mons foes that intimidate them like Mega Diancie or and Tapu Bulu.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

===================
