item: Leftovers
ability: Regenerator
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Scald is used for its secondary burn chance, which potentially cripples switch-ins like Tapu Bulu and Tangrowth. Ice Beam allows Slowbro to beat Zygarde and Hawlucha, two Pokemon that this set is supposed to beat, and hit Grass-types like Tapu Bulu and Tangrowth super effectively. Toxic is valuable for hitting Pokemon that don't take much damage from Scald or Ice Beam, such as Tangrowth, Greninja, and Mega Alakazam, on an expected switch. Thunder Wave can be used over Toxic if the team prefers the additional speed control, hindering fast Pokemon like Mega Alakazam, Serperior, and Greninja. Flamethrower is another alternative that allows Slowbro to hit opposing Steel-types, primarily Ferrothorn, Kartana, and Mega Scizor, for a big chunk of damage. Protect can be used in the last slot to scout against opposing Pokemon like Greninja, Ash-Greninja, and Pursuit trappers like Tyranitar and gain additional recovery from Leftovers.

Set Details
========

A physically defensive EV spread is used to better check physical attackers like Zygarde, Hawlucha, and Mega Medicham. Regenerator allows Slowbro to function as an effective pivot, allowing it to repeatedly switch into strong physical attackers like Zygarde and Mega Medicham without losing momentum to recover via Slack Off every time.

Usage Tips
========

This set is best used as a defensive pivot, coming into Pokemon like Zygarde to scout for their sets. Avoid Toxic from Pokemon such as Heatran, Gliscor, and Toxapex, as this will severely hinder Slowbro's longevity throughout the match. Toxapex can also cripple Slowbro with Toxic Spikes, so make sure that they're removed from the field before bringing Slowbro in. Slowbro doesn't appreciate taking a Knock Off, as losing its Leftovers cripples its longetivity. Don't hesitate to click Scald even on predicted switches, as its 30% burn chance can cripple opposing Grass-types like Tapu Bulu and Kartana, two Pokemon that can beat Slowbro easily if not burned. Use Toxic or Thunder Wave when the opponent has a Pokemon that would be more crippled by Toxic poison or paralysis than a burn, such as Mega Alakazam, Ash-Greninja, Tangrowth, and Tornadus-T. Use Protect against Pokemon that tend to be Choice locked and threaten Slowbro out, such as Ash-Greninja, Magnezone, and Tapu Lele, as them locking into the wrong move can give Slowbro the opportunity to fire off a free attack. It also alleviates prediction against Pursuit trappers like Tyranitar and Weavile.

Team Options
========

Slowbro's defensive utility is beneficial for bulky offense and balance builds that tend to struggle switching into Pokemon like Zygarde, Heatran, Mega Medicham, and Hawlucha. Ash-Greninja hard counters this set outside of a possible status move, so having a reliable answer for it is vital. Tapu Bulu and Tangrowth possess good defensive synergy with Slowbro and can usually handle Ash-Greninja outside of the rare Ice Beam or Gunk Shot, as well as Tapu Koko; Tangrowth also forms a Regenerator core with Slowbro. Heatran possesses good defensive synergy with Slowbro and can help against opposing Grass-types, such as Tapu Bulu, Tangrowth, Ferrothorn, and Serperior, that scare out Slowbro. Heatran also helps with Mega Scizor and Magearna, two Pokemon that could potentially use Slowbro as setup fodder. Toxapex hard walls this set and can badly poison Slowbro with Toxic or set up Toxic Spikes. Having teammates that can pressure Toxapex, primarily Psychic- and Electric- types like Mega Alakazam and Tapu Koko, is important for this set. Entry hazard removers are very helpful for Slowbro to ensure that it recovers as much HP as possible while pivoting and doesn't get poisoned or badly poisoned from Toxic Spikes. Tornadus-T deserves a special mention, as it can remove entry hazards, pressure Grass-types with Hurricane, and form a Regenerator core with Slowbro.

a few things i noticed on discord, was told to post here too

Indigo Plateau "Toxapex hard walls this set and can badly poison Slowbro with Toxic or set up Toxic Spikes."
you didnt name any team options to beat pex lol(edited)

"Use Toxic when the opponent has a Pokemon that would rather be badly poisoned than burned, such as Mega Alakazam and Ash-Greninja."
think you need to change it to say pokemon that are more badly crippled by toxic poison
cause if they would rather be badly poisoned than burned then why are you badly poisoning them, wordings just a bit off. additionally, add twave to this point too bc they both hate being twaved and its slashed(edited)

id add hawlucha in to set details as something the defense helps with

the first two points of team options should be merged

"with Tapu Bulu only fearing the rare Ice Beam or Gunk Shot and Tangrowth forming a Regenerator core with Slowbro."
tangrowth also fears ice beam and gunk shot
you should add a point in team options what kind of builds it features on and why, might be nice to also say why its a good option to consider over mega (you lose flexibility but free up a mega slot but maybe this is too blatant to list thinking about it)(edited)

i'd mention hazard removers in team options too as spikes and stealth rock can make it so you're not getting much if any recovery from regen and t spikes are annoying as fuck for it, so list shit like torn which also helps with grasses and scarf lando

"Mega Scizor can beat Slowbro without Scald burns, so Pokemon like Heatran and Celesteela that can wall it are useful."

you already had a heatran dedicated point so maybe remove heatran for this point or try merge the two points together

[Moves]

  • Slack Off provides Slowbro with a reliable recovery move which, alongside Regenerator, ensures that Slowbro stays as healthy as possible throughout the game.
... allowing it to consistently check Pokemon such as Zygarde, Mega Medicham, and Hawlucha throughout the match.

  • Toxic is valuable for hitting Pokemon that don't take much damage from Scald or Ice Beam, such as Mega Alakazam and Ash-Greninja.
You would much rather Thunder Wave these Pokemon, mention other Pokemon such as Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu instead.

  • Thunder Wave can be used over Toxic if the team prefers the additional speed control to hinder fast Pokemon like Tornadus-T, Serperior, and Ash-Greninja.
Mention Mega Alakazam and Greninja here.

  • Flamethrower is also an alternative that allows Slowbro to hit opposing Steel-types, primarily Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor, for a big chunk of damage.
Slowbro also isn't complete Kartana bait which is nice.

Mention Protect.

[Usage Tips]

  • This set is best used as a defensive pivot, coming into Pokemon like Zygarde and Heatran to scout for their sets.
I don't think Heatran is the best possible example here.

Mention in what situations you could click Protect.

[Team Options]

  • Slowbro's defensive utility is beneficial for bulky offense builds that tend to struggle switching into Pokemon like Zygarde, Heatran, and Hawlucha.
Also mention balance builds, mention Mega Medicham as something Slowbro can pivot into aswell.

  • Tapu Koko can beat Slowbro pretty easily with Thunderbolt and Roost, so Pokemon like Ferrothorn and Tangrowth that can beat Tapu Koko are helpful.
You could probably just merge this into the bullet that was dedicated to Tapu Bulu and Tangrowth.

Protect can be used in the last slot to scout against opposing Pokemon like Greninja and Ash-Greninja and gain additional recovery from Leftovers.
mention scouting pursuit vs ttar+mention this in usage tips too
Avoid getting badly poisoned by Toxic, as this will severely hinder Slowbro's longevity throughout the match.
mention mons you should scout for toxic against and mention tspikes here too
  • Don't hesitate to click Scald even on predicted switches, as its 30% burn chance can cripple opposing Grass-types like Tapu Bulu and Tangrowth.
  • Use Toxic or Thunder Wave when the opponent has a Pokemon that would be more crippled by Toxic poison or paralysis than a burn, such as Mega Alakazam, Ash-Greninja, and Tornadus-T.
the first tip makes sense as a standalone bullet but considering you explain that some mons are more crippled by a toxic/twave than they are by a burn right after id replace the tang mention with something else cause thats a mon u wanna catch w tox on the switch rather than fishing for burns
Entry hazard removers are very helpful for Slowbro to ensure that it recovers as much HP as possible while pivoting.
+also get rid of tspikes cause that really hurts slowbro

Honestly re: fluff I think that there is a lot of things that could very easily be cut from here as of the recent change to "policy" (it's not technically new policy but I can't think of a better word). I've just gone down moves/set details because that's where the changes needed are the simplest conceptually, but give the whole thing another read over and if you think anything further down the analysis is either common sense or otherwise implied somewhere else consider cutting it/amalgamating it:

Add Remove Consider changing (comments/suggestions)

Moves

Scald is Slowbro's most reliable Water-type STAB attack and provides a useful used over Surf for its secondary burn chance, (AC) to which cripples switch-ins like Tapu Bulu and Tangrowth. (It's worth framing the sentence like this and making the comparison for two reasons: Slowbro doesn't have access to Hydro Pump, meaning that accuracy isn't a consideration (and therefore stating it as its "most reliable" is redundant), and at the risk of sounding really pedantic, Surf is technically Slowbro's most reliable Water-type move, making it sensible to put emphasis on your explanation of why the weaker Scald is preferred) Ice Beam is a crucial coverage move that allows Slowbro to beat Zygarde and Hawlucha, two Pokemon that this set is supposed to beat, and hit Grass-types like Tapu Bulu and Tangrowth super effectively. Slack Off provides Slowbro with a reliable recovery move which, alongside Regenerator, ensures that Slowbro stays as healthy as possible throughout the game to check the likes of Zygarde, Mega Medicham, and Hawlucha. (Slack Off's effect is common sense; the rest would be much better implied with a "keep Slowbro healthy" sentence in usage tips) Toxic is valuable for hitting Pokemon that don't take much damage from Scald or Ice Beam, such as Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu. (replace these with examples that aren't already mentioned as Scald burn targets or vice versa (or do a bit of both)) Thunder Wave can be used over Toxic if the team prefers the additional speed control, (AC) to hindering (current sentence implies that the speed control (as opposed to T-Wave) is what is hindering the fast Pokémon) fast Pokemon like Mega Alakazam, Tornadus-T, Serperior, Greninja, and Ash-Greninja. (cut this down to the 2-3 most important examples (and if Ash Greninja is chosen amalgamate it into regular Greninja) Flamethrower is also an alternative that allows Slowbro to hit opposing Steel-types, primarily Ferrothorn, Kartana, and Mega Scizor, for a big chunk of damage. Protect can be used in the last slot to scout against opposing Pokemon like Greninja, Ash-Greninja, and Pursuit trappers like Tyranitar and gain additional recovery from Leftovers.

Set Details
========

Max HP and Defense investment alongside a Bold nature maximizes Slowbro's physical bulk, allowing it A physically defensive EV spread is used (what max hp+defense+bold does mechanically is common sense, and explaining it in full takes the focus off of why it's used instead of other spreads) to better check physical attackers like Zygarde, Hawlucha, and Mega Medicham. Leftovers provides Slowbro with additional recovery each turn. (The PS teambuilder could tell me this) Regenerator is Slowbro's best ability, allowing it to gain 33% of its health back whenever it switches out. (Currently this sentence is just regurgitating what the teambuilder says Regen does; instead of telling us what it does, explain why Regen is preferred over Oblivious/whatever else Bro gets ("Regenerator improves its consistency as a pivot and helps it repeatedly check the stuff it's meant to check" <-- put that in better+more reader-friendly words))
Just as a general pointer when you read over this, the main thing I noticed when reading over those two paragraphs is that the analysis currently puts too much emphasis on the "what" and not enough emphasis on the "why". This, of course, gets the role of the write up wrong; the set that's listed already works in tandem with the teambuilder to tell me "what" everything does; the write-up is meant to elaborate on the reasoning so that a player who's nicking the set knows why the "what" is what it is and doing so as concisely as possible, built on the understanding that they presumably already play pokemon and, consequently, know that defense EVs increase defense, scald is 100% accurate, and Slack Off/Leftovers/Regenerator heal Slowbro.

yo, thanks for the feedback - I haven’t submitted this to the GP team yet bc I read over it last night when implementing last qc & realized all the fluff I had w the recent changes, so I’m going to go over this after class tomorrow & reword it

I know im SUPER late but 0 spdef on slowbro is garbage bc its actually useful for pivoting into a handful of mons like protean gren, specs ash on pump, random atks from zam so u can spread status, stuff from lele, etc. I'd probs go with like 96 bold rest spdef or smthn like that personally, but whether or not to change it this late is QC's prerogative.
