Slowpoke @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 5
EVs: 196 HP / 236 Def / 36 SpA / 36 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave / Fire Blast
- Slack Off
Slowpoke may be slacking off, but that doesn't mean you should sleep on it. Slowpoke is still one of the metagame's most reliable walls, boasting huge HP and Defense stats that would even make Foongus jealous. It is one of the best pivots in the tier thanks to its great defensive stats and Regenerator, which it can fall back on when it is unable to Slack Off safely. This allows it to consistently check Pokemon such as Mudbray and Onix. Slowpoke can cripple foes with Scald or Thunder Wave, making it annoying to switch into, as well as having Psychic to deal with other walls in the tier such as Foongus and Mareanie. Unfortunately, Slowpoke finds itself susceptible to the very common Knock Off, as Slowpoke loses considerable bulk once its Eviolite is gone, making it lose to Pokemon such as Mienfoo and Timburr. Ferroseed and Vullaby make for good teammates defensively, as they can check Grass-type Pokemon and set up hazards. Offensively, Mienfoo and Snivy are a great pairing, as they can check Dark- and Electric-type Pokemon while also benefiting from Slowpoke's ability to spread paralysis.
