Garchomp @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 248 Atk / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Substitute
- Swords Dance

Swords Dance Garchomp is a terrifying threat in SM OU, utilizing its solid bulk and defensive typing to set up easily in front of common threats such as Heatran and Toxapex. Substitute trades in the standard Stealth Rock to take advantage of defensive Pokemon that Garchomp forces out such as Toxapex and Magearna, and it eases prediction, as this set is reliant on its Z-Move to break through its checks. Said Z-Move is a powerful Devastating Drake, which tears through would-be checks such as Tangrowth, Mega Latias, and Slowbro. Due to Garchomp's lack of recovery, this set requires pivots such as Tornadus-T and Rotom-W to bring it in safely. Magnezone is also a great partner because it easily removes Skarmory, which Dragonium Z Garchomp struggles to break past. Protean Greninja can lure in and remove Tapu Bulu, which walls Garchomp completely.

Swords Dance Garchomp is a terrifying threat in SM OU, utilising utilizing its solid bulk and defensive capabilities (unclear and seems to overlap w "solid bulk"; if you mean smth like "defensive typing", that's fine, just specify that) to set up easily in front of common threats such as Heatran and Toxapex. Substitute trades in the usually utilised Stealth Rock for the ability standard Stealth Rock (optional: "...Rock for taking advantage...") to take advantage of defensive Pokemon that Garchomp forces out such as Toxapex and Magearna, and it eases prediction, (AC) as this set is reliant on its Z-Move in order to break through its checks. Outrage in combination with Dragonium-Z allows Garchomp to throw out a powerful Devastating Drake, letting it tear Said Z-Move is a powerful Devastating Drake, which tears through would-be checks such as Tangrowth, Mega Latias, and Slowbro. Due to Garchomp's (added apostrophe) lack of recovery, this set requires pivots such as Tornadus-T and Rotom-W to bring it in safely. Magnezone is also a great partner alongside it as because it easily removes Skarmory, (AC) which Dragonium Z Garchomp struggles to break past. Protean Greninja works well alongside Garchomp as it can lure in and remove Tapu Bulu for it, which walls Garchomp completely.
