[OVERVIEW]
Gliscor has proven to be one of the most defining Pokemon within the metagame, owing to its great typing, vast movepool, and incredible ability in Poison Heal, which not only grants it incredible passive recovery but also prevents it from being statused due to its constant state of being poisoned. These traits allow it to act as a valuable check to the prominent Heatran and to freely switch into Toxapex's Scald, not fearing a potential burn. Gliscor's Swords Dance variant is a premier setup sweeper, using its naturally good bulk and passive recovery to be difficult to pressure by defensive Pokemon. The aforementioned qualities also make it a utility powerhouse, being a great, consistent user of both Stealth Rock and Defog, as well as supporting its team with the momentum-grabbing U-turn. The downside to Gliscor's typing is its glaring 4x weakness to Ice leaving it threatened out by both Ice-types, like Kyurem-B and Weavile, and Pokemon carrying Ice-type coverage, like Mega Latias and Mega Latios. Additionally, Gliscor faces competition from the omnipresent Landorus-T, which is much more versatile due to being able to hold many different items like Rocky Helmet, Choice Scarf, and various Z-Crystals, unlike Gliscor, which must hold Toxic Orb.

Moves
========
Gliscor is an incredible Swords Dance user, owing to its incredible recovery and pseudo-status immunity, allowing it to set up boosts on the many Pokemon that cannot threaten it while also never being threatened by burn. Earthquake is Gliscor's strongest STAB move, hitting Steel-types like Magearna and Heatran super effectively. The Poison Heal and Toxic Orb combination gives Gliscor the benefit of a perpetually boosted Facade, letting it hit Pokemon not threatened by Earthquake, like Rotom-W, Landorus-T, and Zapdos. Ice Fang can be used with an EV spread of 248 HP / 64 Def / 44 SpD / 152 Spe to hit Landorus-T, Garchomp, and opposing Gliscor harder; however, there is a drop in power compared to Facade against targets that it doesn't hit 4x super effectively. The given EV spread for Ice Fang Gliscor allows it to survive a +1 Mega Charizard X Flare Blitz when at full health and, most importantly, outspeed neutral-natured Kyurem-B and Tapu Lele, with the added benefit of outspeeding most opposing Gliscor and Landorus-T variants. Roost allows Gliscor to stay healthy and compounds on its already great passive recovery, letting it easily shrug off Scald from the likes of Toxapex, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon.
Set Details
========
20 Speed EVs in combination with a Jolly nature allow Gliscor to outspeed Modest Heatran. The rest of the EVs are put into special bulk to help Gliscor take super effective special attacks, such as Tapu Fini's Scald and Landorus-T's Hidden Power Ice. Alternatively, a Careful nature allows Gliscor to have extra comfort when taking the aforementioned attacks while also letting it survive Ice Beam from uninvested Magearna and Mega Slowbro. Additionally, it can help Gliscor handle neutral hits, letting it always avoid the 2HKO from Mega Alakazam's Psychic and always survive Modest Heatran's Inferno Overdrive.
Usage Tips
========
Once Gliscor has completed the crucial early-game task of activating its Toxic Orb, it can and should be switched into passive Pokemon like Toxapex and Chansey as much as possible, threatening to set up multiple Swords Dance boosts and spiral out of control. It can utilize Facade to efficiently chip away at common checks that have limited longevity, such as Rotom-W and Landorus-T. Even in the case where the opposing team has a counter to Swords Dance Gliscor, such as Mega Latias, Gliscor can still chip away at it with Facade and pressure its recovery moves, which is even more effective when Stealth Rock is present on the opposing side of the field. Many Pokemon that seemingly check Gliscor due to their typing, such as Celesteela and Tangrowth, can fail to pressure it in a meaningful way and can lose the one-on-one, as it can boost its Attack to +6 and use Roost to stay healthy enough to break them down slowly with Facade. When using Gliscor, you should always be mindful of Ice-type coverage from the likes of Magearna, Tapu Koko, Mega Tyranitar, and Mega Alakazam and scout these attacks out before being confident to let Gliscor stay in against them.
Team Options
========
This set is generally only suited to teams ranging from balance to semi-stall, as it specializes in being a long-term threat rather than dealing immediate damage. Gliscor appreciates Stealth Rock support from the likes of Heatran and Clefable more than most Pokemon do, as the damage compounds with Facade to chip away at temporary checks, such as Landorus-T and Rotom-W, as well as providing additional pressure on Mega Latias. Additionally, Stealth Rock is especially effective against the Rock-weak Ice-types that check Gliscor. Pursuit support from the likes of Mega Tyranitar and Weavile can remove Mega Latias, Mega Latios, and Calm Mind Cresselia, which is incredibly beneficial, as they reliably check this set. Magearna is a good partner, as it can provide a slow Volt Switch, allowing a safe activation of Gliscor's Toxic Orb, as well as taking on Ice-types like Kyurem-B and Weavile. A bulky Water-type check that can handle the common Ash-Greninja, such as Toxapex, is needed due to Greninja threatening out Gliscor with an OHKO if it is brought in safely. Mega Latias can also make for a good partner, as it is able to check big threats to Gliscor such as Mega Swampert, Swords Dance Kartana, and opposing Ice Fang Gliscor.

Moves
========
Gliscor's advantage over Landorus-T in a utility role is its incredible longevity, meaning that it can either set Stealth Rock or use Defog throughout the game without worrying about being chipped at by entry hazards and status conditions. Gliscor is able to switch into Heatran, one of the premier Stealth Rock users, and remove its Stealth Rock via Defog as it is threatened out by a potential Earthquake. Gliscor's pseudo-immunity to status and incredible recovery give it a good matchup against passive entry hazard setters such as Seismitoad, Clefable, Chansey, and Toxapex. This longevity is also a great merit as a Stealth Rock setter, as it is able to set its own entry hazards against the aforementioned Pokemon and regularly outlast opposing Defoggers like Rotom-W and Landorus-T over the course of a long game. Earthquake threatens out Heatran and Toxapex and prevents setup threats like Mega Charizard X and Mega Mawile from taking advantage of Gliscor. Roost combines with Poison Heal to make Gliscor incredibly difficult to kill, even letting it shed its Flying typing to help out against Ice-type moves from slower Pokemon. Toxic allows Gliscor to efficiently threaten Pokemon that are not threatened by Earthquake, like Landorus-T, Rotom-W, Tapu Bulu, and Serperior, as well as Mega Latias and Mega Latios if it catches them switching in. This is especially good against opposing Defoggers, as they are put on a timer and will not be able to prevent Stealth Rock from Gliscor long-term. U-turn is a valuable momentum tool that can capitalize on Ground-type switch-ins, like Landorus-T, Rotom-W, Tornadus-T, and Mega Latias, both chipping away at them and gaining valuable momentum. Additionally, it utilizes Gliscor's ability to come in on status-inducing moves, like Toxic and Scald, to let it pivot out to a teammate that would have been threatened by them. Knock Off can be used to punish Tapu Fini, Ferrothorn, Celesteela, and Chansey in a permanent way, removing their important items and hurting their capability to take hits throughout the game.
Set Details
========
136 Speed EVs, in conjunction with a Jolly nature, allow Gliscor to outspeed positive-natured Hoopa-U, as well as Timid Heatran and Adamant Excadrill. 64 Defense EVs allow Gliscor to always survive a +1 Flare Blitz from Mega Charizard X at full health. The remaining EVs are put into Special Defense to help Gliscor more comfortably switch into Heatran's Magma Storm and Zapdos's Hidden Power Ice. Toxic Orb in combination with Poison Heal gives Gliscor very strong passive recovery, which grants it incredible longevity, as well as making it practically immune to status conditions while it is poisoned.
Usage Tips
========
An important early-game task is ensuring that Gliscor's Toxic Orb can activate by keeping it safe from Knock Off and non-poison status conditions until it is poisoned. One safe way to do this is by switching Gliscor into defensive Pokemon like Chansey, Skarmory, Reuniclus, and Celesteela that cannot threaten to remove its item or reliably inflict another status condition. This can also be achieved by pairing Gliscor with slow users of pivot moves that can take a hit prior to bringing Gliscor in safely. This means that prior to Toxic Orb activation, Gliscor cannot safely into Heatran and Toxapex due to its fear of the significant chance for Lava Plume and Scald to burn. However, once Toxic Orb is activated, Gliscor can easily switch into any defensive Pokemon lacking strong super effective coverage, and it is able to take advantage of this with its utility movepool. This allows it to very easily switch into entry hazard setters like Toxapex, Clefable, and defensive variants of Landorus-T and Heatran. If Gliscor is able to badly poison the opposing Defogger, like Landorus-T, Rotom-W, or Zapdos, then it will not be able to stop Stealth Rock long-term. U-turn makes Gliscor a great Stealth Rock setter to have against stall teams, as it is able to pivot out with U-turn against a Mega Sableye predicting Stealth Rock, both chipping away at it and preserving momentum. Make sure to get the most out of U-turn by having Gliscor use it liberally to preserve momentum against incoming switches like Landorus-T and Mega Latias and bring in threatening offensive teammates. Gliscor can be OHKOed by offensive Heatran's Inferno Overdrive and by a potential Ice Beam from Magearna, so it is useful to scout for these moves beforehand.
Team Options
========
Defog Gliscor can fit on all kinds of teams ranging from bulky offense to stall, as its longevity grants it consistency in removing entry hazards throughout the game that is widely appreciated by teammates with Stealth Rock weaknesses, such as Kyurem-B, Zapdos, both Mega Charizard formes, and Volcarona. Stealth Rock makes Gliscor a better fit for bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate Gliscor being able to set Stealth Rock freely in the face of many Pokemon that rely on status to avoid passivity, like Toxapex and Chansey. Additionally, powerful wallbreakers, such as Kyurem-B and Tapu Lele, appreciate Gliscor bringing them in safely via U-turn. Defensive Steel-types like Magearna and Jirachi are useful partners, as they can check both the threatening Tapu Lele and Ice-types like Kyurem-B. Toxapex can pivot into Water-type and Ice-type attacks and check Ash-Greninja, which outspeeds and OHKOes Gliscor. Heatran makes for a good partner, as it appreciates not needing to run Stealth Rock itself, and it can help out against the threatening Mega Mawile, as well as Grass-types like Serperior and Tapu Bulu, which take very little from Gliscor's Earthquake. When Gliscor is carrying Defog, it opens up move options for teammates like Rotom-W, Tornadus-T, and Zapdos, as they no longer need to run Defog themselves. Teammates with U-turn or Volt Switch, such as Tornadus-T, Rotom-W, and Magearna, can help Gliscor safely activate its Toxic Orb early-game. Mega Medicham and Hawlucha can threaten to OHKO Gliscor with Ice Punch and set up on it with Swords Dance, respectively, so it can be beneficial to pair Gliscor with a bulky Psychic-type such as Slowbro, Cresselia, or Reuniclus.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
An alternative EV spread for the Swords Dance variant is 248 HP / 80 Atk / 120 SpD / 60 Spe with an Adamant nature, as this allows Gliscor to always OHKO opposing Swords Dance Gliscor at +2 with Ice Fang and outspeed Timid Magnezone. Taunt can be slotted on instead of Roost on the utility variants to disrupt defensive teams; however, this set requires more careful play in regards to letting Gliscor take attacks, as it cannot manually heal.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Ice-types and Ice-type Coverage**: Ice-type Pokemon, such as Kyurem-B and Weavile, can threaten Gliscor using its dire 4x weakness to Ice. Additionally, Pokemon carrying Ice-type coverage, like Ice Beam Magearna and Slowbro or Hidden Power Ice Tapu Koko and Mega Alakazam, are similarly threatening and require careful scouting.
**Strong Water-types**: Strong Water-type attackers, such as Greninja, Mega Swampert, and Manaphy, can easily threaten Gliscor out with their powerful super effective Water-type attacks.
**Ground-immune and -resistant Pokemon**: Pokemon that are not threatened by Earthquake, such as Skarmory, Mega Latias, and Rotom-W, have a much easier time switching into Gliscor and cannot be threatened in return.
**Prevention of Toxic Orb Activation**: Gliscor needs to stay in for a turn to be able to activate its Toxic Orb, so opposing Knock Off or status move users can incredibly hinder Gliscor by removing its greatest attribute in Poison Heal recovery.
**Strong Wallbreakers**: Strong wallbreakers, such as Kyurem-B, Mega Medicham, and Choice Specs Tapu Lele, can threaten out Gliscor with a potential OHKO.
