Project SM OU Lure That Threat v2 Round 45 - Heart Swap Magearna

Not open for further replies.
Breloom @ Steelium Z
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Iron Tail
- Spore

This set of Breloom can easily lure Bulu, because the opponent will think it can easily switch-in Breloom to absorb its Spore, while Breloom can easily
OHKO Bulu with Iron Tail.

252 Atk Breloom Corkscrew Crash (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Tapu Bulu: 350-412 (102 - 120.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Azu, max atk dian and and Bb koko win

For this next cycle, I’m gonna take a different approach to this. Normally it’s defensive threats that need removing for teammates, but this time around we’re going to be looking at an offensive threat that is extremely hard to stop once it generates a boosting opportunity:

Round 6: Hawlucha

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 152 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD / 96 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Roost

I’m kinda interested to see how people approach this. Best of luck!

Reserving ElectriumZ Ferrothorn

Ferrothorn @ Electrium Z
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip / Knock Off
- Thunder

The idea is simple; Ferrothorn usually comes in on Koko, the Koko pivots out into the Hawlucha, and either thinking its safe and SD's or the Ferrothorn is healthy enough to live a HJK, Ferrothorn unleshes a deadly Electric Terrain boosted Gigavolt Havoc, removing Hawlucha from the game, and hopefully catching the nice insta forfeit. Hawlucha can also be caught on the switch with the Z-Move too. This is not 100% reliable, as Ferrothorn is quite easily put into range of HJK and hard to keep healthy but also terrain turns can work against you as well, though terrain will always need to be up to give Hawlucha the boost. Thunder is used over Thunderbolt for extra para chance w/o Zmove.
0 SpA Ferrothorn Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 104 HP / 0 SpD Hawlucha in Electric Terrain: 336-396 (104 - 122.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Hawlucha High Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 88+ Def Ferrothorn: 248-294 (70.4 - 83.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Just to note, Z-Thunder isnt hitting any other targets, even 4x SE hard enough to rely on, unless paired with your own Terrain then even still:

0 SpA Ferrothorn Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 228 SpD Pelipper: 312-368 (96.5 - 113.9%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

0 SpA Ferrothorn Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 124+ SpD Mantine: 192-228 (51.4 - 61.1%) -- 94.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Ferrothorn Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 124+ SpD Mantine in Electric Terrain: 288-340 (77.2 - 91.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Ferrothorn Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 124 SpD Celesteela: 136-160 (34.1 - 40.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

0 SpA Ferrothorn Gigavolt Havoc (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 124 SpD Celesteela in Electric Terrain: 204-240 (51.2 - 60.3%) -- 90.6% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 220 SpD / 40 Spe
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect
- Stealth Rock

Heatran traditionally runs a more offensive set with Magma Storm + Earth Power + Taunt to shut down Toxapex, but a more defensive set with Protect allows Heatran to lure in Hawlucha and make it crash with Protect. This results in mindgames being present at all future turns, as it pretty much always gets out by Lava Plume after crash damage.

Fuck it it's my game but I wanna play too

Defensive Flyinium Landorus-T

Landorus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Fly
- U-turn / Protect / Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stealth Rock

Generally speaking, when a Hawlucha player sees a defensive Lando-T, their first instinct would be to try and engineer a situation where Lucha sets up on Lando and proceeds to clean up. This is where this set comes in; Lando-T fears very little from an unboosted Hawlucha unless it has been weakened substantially, and when Hawlucha comes in to set up Lando-T reveals Supersonic Skystrike, which OHKOs Hawlucha through the boost from Electric Seed. The move isn't only useful for Hawlucha either–it also allows Lando-T to effectively lure a number of important Pokemon; it targets bulky Grass-types such as Tapu Bulu, Mega Venusaur and Tangrowth while also allowing Lando-T to nail a number of offensive Pokemon that otherwise have a good or decent matchup, namely including Kartana and Mega Pinsir.

The listed EVs are just ripped from the analysis; they outpace adamant Tyranitar. However, faster EV spreads are also an option if you would prefer the added Speed in exchange for some bulk. 248 HP / 120 Def / 140 Spe Impish outpaces modest Heatran, which also beats out timid Magearna, adamant Tapu Bulu and jolly Tyranitar; 248 HP / 164 Def / 96 Spe Jolly outruns jolly Mega Tyranitar, whereas 248 HP / 116 Def / 144 Spe jolly outpaces timid Heatran. If running HP Ice, 248 HP / 76 Def / 184 Spe Jolly is an option to outrun adamant Zygarde (and, by extension, adamant Lando-T) or 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe Jolly can be used to speed tie with opposing jolly Lando-T.

Oh btw I've added a bullet point to the rules in order to hopefully encourage activity throughout the entire cycle rather than just right at the start of it:
If you have posted a Pokemon, you may not post a second during the first three days of the cycle. However, you may reserve a second from the fourth day onwards. For example, if a cycle starts on Tuesday and you post a lure on the Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, you may reserve a second Pokémon from Friday onwards. One person can't reserve a third Pokemon in any given cycle.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers/Rocky Helmet/Yache Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 116 Def / 144 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn/Hp Ice/Protect
- Psychic
- Stealth Rock

you basically have psychic so you beat Hawlucha I'm not gonna say anything else about it it's pretty self explanatory. You can run a slower, bulkier spread. This one outspeeds Heatran but you can run different speed points like magnezone, AV Bulu, Zygarde, Bisharp, tyranitar or just 16 spe.

0- SpA Landorus-Therian Psychic vs. 152 HP / 8 SpD Hawlucha: 174-206 (51.9 - 61.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Red Card Jirachi lol

Jirachi @ Red Card
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 144 Def / 116 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 SpA
- Iron Head
- Body Slam / Toxic
- Wish
- Protect

I tried to reuse the old Wish Jirachi set and make it a mixed wall that takes special shits quite well, while wish passing to other members of the team. What is also good with this set is the fact that Jirachi can survive a +2 Adamant High Jump Kick from Hawlucha. It's mostly made to surprise many set-up sweepers by crippling them. You can move 32 EVs from SpD into Spe if you need to outspeed neutral nature 70 and 71 BS, such as Breloom, Bisharp, Mega-Swampert (before rain ofc) and Mega-Tyanitar.

+2 252+ Atk Hawlucha High Jump Kick vs. 248 HP / 144 Def Jirachi: 319-376 (79.1 - 93.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
Then, Jirachi's Red Card will phaze Lucha so it can lose its Unburden boost while Jirachi can Wish to regain health. Also, make sure you don't Wish right away so you can protect from Lucha's HJK and git that sweeeeeet crash damage. If you want you can also Body Slam or Toxic to cripple the opponent and make it less effective.

Kartana @ Chople Berry
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Aerial Ace
- Sacred Sword
- Leaf Blade

Kartana breaks everything without even needing a Z-move. Chople berry is cool cuz it let's you lure stuff like m-lop,lucha and set up on Bulu
pretty easily. The other part of this lure is aerial ace which not only OHKOs +1 Hawlucha at +2 , but also bops counters to standard set
(Buzzwole, M-hera and M-Pinsir).

I came in here trying to reserve defensive flyz lando rip. Its probably the best unexpected counter and does quite a bit of stuff outside of that niche.

Uh this also does it.

Toxapex (M) @ Icium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Haze
- Recover

Usually Hawlucha is able to pressure Pex by SD'ing on the switch and then constantly keeping it low with acrobatics using the fact that Pex cant go for Toxic and recover on the same turn. With this set Pex is able to brush off the +2 Acrobatics and set Hawlucha's atk back to +0 allowing it to get a toxic off and spamming haze recover afterwards thus Hawlucha is forced out losing its ability.

power

uh-oh, the game in trouble
How's everyone forgetting about the best one

Toxic Lando puts Hawlucha on a timer and leaves you free to spam Hidden Power while the Toxic Damage racks up. Hidden Power Ice deals with Sub Zygarde, whereas HP Fire nails Kartana. Has a fuckton of utility outside of Hawlucha while also preventing Lucha from just clean sweeping through you. Helmet punishes scarf kart whereas leftovers gives passive recovery to better deal w other stuff like zyg

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 192 Def / 28 SpD / 40 Spe

Ok, got ur lure right here :

Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Def / 96 SpA / 92 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Flamethrower
- Protect
- Leech Seed

Ok, so, hawlucha packs roost atm so it can set on landorus, celesteela and etc... not on this one kid, this in fact acts as both a lure and a check to hawlucha. The Defense EVs allow you to aways take a +2 HJK, either be after switching into it on rocks and playing a lil mind game with protect / SD (switchin, regain +6%, protect +6% or air slash) or be it at full. The spa evs allow u to have a rly good shot at just straight KOing it from full after rocks ( 96 SpA Celesteela Air Slash vs. 104 HP / 0 SpD Hawlucha: 272-324 (84.2 - 100.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock ). The lure thing about this is, hawlucha will see you as a passive mon it can sit on and set up, but u aint lol, they are gonna come in, think ur helpless, set up to +2 and get bopped. Quite simple but quite efective

Edit : image to be prettier :]

Crawdaunt works similarly to most of the rest of the lures for Hawlucha, utilizes the move counter to put a dent on the falcons hawks eagles seriously what type of bird is hawlucha. Able to take the HIgh Jump Kick thanks to chople berry, and smack the bird back with counter. The rest of the crabs moveset is the usual stuff the crab usually runs

Calc:
252+ Atk Hawlucha High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Chople Berry Crawdaunt: 211-249 (79 - 93.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Edit: ^@&* just realized that Nature Power Whimiscott is the ultimate Hawlucha lure and I didn't think about it. Well, hopefully someone else can make use of it.

Most of these are really bad...

The winners are me and sedertz because I’m a nazi host. No Fun Zone! Special mention to Protect Tran by Littlelucario tho for actually being viable, and I liked the concept behind Icium Z Toxapex even tho it’s realistically pretty impractical+pointless outside of Hawlucha and one other setup sweeper that I’ve forgotten, so props to Za Meowdo on that one.

This week we’re going to lure the new Big Boy Defogger on the scene, my man Gliscor:

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 152 SpD / 112 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Earthquake
- Knock Off / Taunt

You know the drill.

Reserving Firium Z Heatran

Heartbeat (Heatran) @ Firium Z
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

This is an interesting take on the standard trapper-tran, except with Inferno Overdrive instead of Tectonic Rage, which can lure in different targets, including gliscor. Gliscor is known for its ability pivot into heatran and subsequently beat it, as all sets bar scarfed variants are outsped by it. However, gliscor can easily be nailed by a well-timed Inferno Overdrive if it switches into the heatran and rocks are up on the opposing side. Coupled with the fact that one of heatran's most common partners includes Tapu Bulu, which means that in certain scenarios, heatran can afford to trap the opposing gliscor when it switches in(assuming it hits) and then proceeds to kill with Z-Magma Storm. This means that heatran can either proceed to chip away at the opposing team, set up rocks or even both once gliscor is down. Furthermore, as teams that incorporate gliscor generally don't tend to run a secondary ground type, this makes the likes of other pokemon which can capitalize on the lack of electric immunity such as specs tapu koko and AV magearna more annoying for opposing teams to face.

252 SpA Heatran Inferno Overdrive (180 BP) vs. 244 HP / 152 SpD Gliscor: 310-366 (88 - 103.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal

0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Heatran in Grassy Terrain: 196-232 (60.6 - 71.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Grassy Terrain recovery

Reserving Z Ice Punch Spdef Rocks Rachi

Jirachi @ Icium Z
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 148 SpD / 112 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Ice Punch / U-Turn
- Stealth Rock
- Healing Wish / Ice Punch

The best way to lure in a Defoger is with a Rocker it thinks it can beat. Gliscor doesnt usually care about the standard Jirachi sets, being both slower, tanking any hits it can go for, while Gliscor threatens with it out with a stab Earthquake, picking up an easy 2hko on Jirachi. However IciumZ lets Jirachi lure in these bulky Ground types looking to take advantage of it. Hitting LandoT, Zygarde, Gliscor for 4x damage, severely weakening them, or picking them off. Jirachis speed is very customisable to the team, with slower spreads relying on Gliscor defoging on the attack, or sniping it on the switch, but allowing it to better check Lele and Magearna. While faster spreads can be used to creep Zygardes and even Offensive Landos.

Its to note Z-Icy Wind can be ran to better hit Lando, but this will require a -atk nature, losing out on Iron Heads damage or dropping entirely. 52 Atk investment can also be ran on slower spreads, confirming the ko, stopping Gliscors from Roosting after being hit, allowing the Zmove to be used before chip damage.
0 Atk Jirachi Subzero Slammer (140 BP) vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 336-396 (95.4 - 112.5%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Poison Heal

Shuca Berry Tyranitar can Easily lure Gliscor, Landorus and Zygarde thanks to Ice beam, if u don't have a srocker sr > eq is a good option, the spa evs are to OHKO defensive landorus after rocks but it has a high chance of Killing gliscor too after rocks, and after a stone edge it's guaranteed ohko

power

uh-oh, the game in trouble
Me and ET3RN4M came up with this one, its lit.

Heatran @ Groundium Z
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power Ice
- Stealth Rock

This Heatran set gets rocks up vs Gliscor, beats CB tar and traps pex, and its the only one that does it! You can run Timid as it still does all of that but Modest improves the rolls a lot and no one runs Jolly Bulu anyway.

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fire Punch
- Crunch / Pursuit
- Ice Punch
- Stealth Rock

Considering the fact that Lati@s isn't the only great defogger anymore, Ice Punch is a really nice option on Mega Tyranitar. It destroys Gliscor (previously untouchable), while really chipping Landorus-T and Tapu Bulu, which is a real plus. Really simple change that I've been using as of late.

252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Tapu Bulu: 174-206 (50.7 - 60%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock, sandstorm damage, and Grassy Terrain recovery
-1 252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Landorus-T: 204-240 (53.4 - 62.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Ice Punch vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 324-384 (92 - 109%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam

Nothing really fancy. Gliscor likes to come into Clef a lot to Taunt for free damage, so you can just nail it with Ice Beam for some laughs. Fable's last slot is pretty much a flex-slot for whatever your team needs so it's not like as if the tradeoff is too significant or anything. Ice Beam does 75% - 88%, which KOs if Gliscor switches into Moonblast and uses anything other than Roost. Even if he starts spamming Roost, Ice Beam exerts enough pressure such that he can't reasonably Defog anything.

0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 244 HP / 152 SpD Gliscor: 103-123 (29.2 - 34.9%) -- 83.8% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal
0 SpA Clefable Ice Beam vs. 244 HP / 152 SpD Gliscor: 264-312 (75 - 88.6%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal

Reserving Swords Dance StallBreaker Gliscor

Ok, lets do this

Spooky Boi (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 44 Def / 68 SpD / 152 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Knock Off

This isn't really to innovative or anything. Most of the time Gliscor is a great answer to opposing Gliscor, as they are immune to opposing Earthquake, and don't mind Knock Off, as it most likely will have Toxic Orb activated before hand. This set utilizes that fact, by being able to use Swords Dances until Spooky Boi is able to beat up the Opposing Gliscor with Knock Off. The Knock Off variant of the Gliscor you posted is deadweight against this set, while the Taunt one will still lose thanks to this Gliscor being faster with the ability to Swords Dance first in the battle

This Gliscor
+2 0 Atk Gliscor Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 110-130 (31.2 - 36.9%) -- 36.6% chance to 4HKO after Poison Heal

+6 0 Atk Gliscor Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 220-259 (62.5 - 73.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal
