Our winners for this round VOTW are:

Mega Sableye by Dinesh Raj Gujjula
Skarmory by Vittorioso
for counters.

And for checks our winners are:
Unaware Clefable by KaiserKaiba
Mega Slowbro by OmBrArch

Our Week 4 Victim of the week will be none other than Charizard-Y

:ss/Charizard-mega-y:
Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Timid Nature
- Flamethrower

- Focus Blast
- Solar Beam
- Roost

A fearless flying wallbreaker with the asset of having a massive SpA stat and a solid enough Speed tier with 159 and 100, respectively. Charizard-Y also capitalizes from its good ability in Drought and can therefore use a boosted Flamethrower or a 1 turn Solar Beam to break through most Pokemon in the tier in conjunction with Focus Blast which can deal massive damage onto Pokemon such as Tyranitar and Heatran. But how can this Pokemon be checked and countered? let us find out how to deal accordingly with this hard-hitting Wallbreaker.

Submission deadline ends on Sunday, have fun everyone :)

:ss/chansey:

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Soft-Boiled

The satan's back with its defensive capabilities. Chansey, as mentioned before in week 2, gives a hard time to special attackers in general. Even without any investment in spdef, it can switch in to any move of zard, and then toxic stall it to death (seismic toss + soft boiled recovery too)

Calcs:

252 SpA Charizard Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 146-174 (20.7 - 24.7%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
252 SpA Charizard Flamethrower vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 84-99 (11.9 - 14%) -- possible 8HKO
252 SpA Charizard Solar Beam vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 73-87 (10.3 - 12.3%) -- possible 9HKO

Altaria-Mega (F) @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 92 Def / 36 SpA / 76 SpD / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Toxic
- Roost

One of my favorite Charizard checks in general (as it checks both formes); it is almost a counter, but sometimes a lucky crit + burn from fire blast after rocks chip, or if Char-Y has air slash and gets lucky enough to flinch you a few times, is enough to drop Mega-Alt. Generally though, you come in and roost off damage, and if you get a toxic on them you win long-term.

252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Flamethrower vs. 248 HP / 76 SpD Altaria-Mega in Sun: 114-135 (32.2 - 38.2%) -- 96.9% chance to 3HKO

Latias-Mega @ Latiasite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Ground] / Thunder
- Thunder Wave
- Roost

Pretty obvious one: Mega Latias possesses a reliable recovery, resists any of Mega Charizard Y's attacks, outspeeds it and threatens with Thunder Wave, effectively countering it. Has to be careful with Pursuit trappers, which aren't a rare sight on Mega Charizard Y teams, however.

Kommo-o @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 116 SpD / 140 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic/Rock slide
- Protect
- Drain Punch
Submitting kommo-o as a counter to zard y
Spdef kommo is eaisly able to come in on zardy's moves as flame is a 9HKO fb does nothing due to bullet proof and solar beam bounces off of kommo-o and kommo-o sets up rocks which heavily cripple's zardy due to its 2X weakness to rocks.
Here are some calcs
Edit:The calc for some reason didnt add the sun because the calc has balze before mega so thats why the calc is worng thanks to KaiserKaiba for pointing it out:) so here's actual calc:252 SpA Charizard Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 116+ SpD Kommo-o in Sun: 76-90 (21.4 - 25.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Charizard Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 116+ SpD Kommo-o: 45-53 (12.7 - 14.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever
Also if ur not running bullet proof on kommo-o for some reason then here's the FB calc:252 SpA Charizard Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 116+ SpD Kommo-o: 90-107 (25.4 - 30.2%) -- 0.2% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Haze
- Recover
- Toxic
Toxapex is a counter to zard y as it takes any hit from zard nd can recover the damage off or switch to get regen. It is also able to check other threats in tier such as ash greninja.
252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 85-101 (27.9 - 33.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex in Sun: 72-85 (23.6 - 27.9%) -- 13.8% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

I'm not a big fan of your calc. Zard-Y do much more damage on Kommo-o SpeDef because of Sun:
- 252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 116+ SpD Kommo-o in Sun: 101-119 (28.5 - 33.6%) -- 95.9% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Also, I do think Rock Slide (over Toxic for example) is very important on Kommo-o to really fully check Zard-Y/Volcarona.

SpDef RockSlide Rest (Camerupt-Mega) @ Cameruptite
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 248 HP / 136 SpD / 124 Spe
Calm Nature
- Rock Slide
- Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Rest

Nominating SpD Camerupt-Mega as a check to Zard Y. By virtue of its typing, Camel is not weak to any of Charizard's options, allowing it to safely switch into it, eating up Zard's attacks for breakfast.
Rock Slide being Sheer Force boosted will always OHKO Zard, and help Camerupt check Volcarona as well. Its spread allows it to outspeed speedless Toxapex, while maximizing its bulk. This set isn't limited to checking Charizard tho, Camerupt's typing makes it one of the best Magearna switch in in the game, whether it's an offensive or defensive set. It also completely blanks Electrics not named Rotom, being part-Fire, thus not being weak to any common Hidden Power. Rest is there for longevity, as Camerupt can very easily burn a turn of Sleep on the aforementioned Electrics, or be paired with a Cleric on bulkier teams. If it's not as consistent of a check as Latias can be, it's a great underrated pick on Balance teams looking for a Pokemon that does what Camel does.

252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Solar Beam / Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 136+ SpD Camerupt-Mega: 117-138 (34 - 40.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 136+ SpD Camerupt-Mega in Sun: 99-117 (28.7 - 34%) -- 1.1% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Hidden Power Water vs. 252 HP / 136+ SpD Camerupt-Mega in Sun: 116-140 (33.7 - 40.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0- Atk Sheer Force Camerupt-Mega Rock Slide vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Charizard-Mega-Y: 360-428 (121.2 - 144.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Mantine @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 36 Def / 220 SpD
Calm Nature
- Roost
- Scald
- Defog
- Toxic

Nominating :mantine: as a counter to :charizard-mega-y:. Its typing and SpDef bulk allows it to stomach any attacks thrown by :charizard-mega-y:, none of which comes close to 2HKOing it even with Stealth Rocks up (which can be removed by its own Defog). Moreover, Roost for longevity allows it to consistently wall :charizard-mega-y: throughout the whole game, and Toxic puts it on a timer & outdamages :charizard-mega-y:'s consecutive Roosting attempts. Due to its more passive nature and inability to threaten :charizard-mega-y: back immediately, :mantine: fits more on bulkier builds where it also compresses an answer to other threats such as :greninja:,:greninja-ash:,:volcarona:,:latios-mega:♂, & non-Toxic :heatran:.

252 SpA :Charizard-Mega-Y: Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 220+ SpD :Mantine: in Sun: 75-88 (20 - 23.5%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA :Charizard-Mega-Y: Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 220+ SpD :Mantine:: 44-52 (11.7 - 13.9%) -- possible 9HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA :Charizard-Mega-Y: Solar Beam vs. 252 HP / 220+ SpD :Mantine:: 89-105 (23.7 - 28%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

This thing isn't listed on the VR, but there's a page of it on the smogdex, so surely it has legitimate viability? Clueless.png if not then I'll use drizzle mantine pelipper instead eShrug.png

We are back after a week hiatus

The Week 5 Victim of the week is Flyinium-Z Tornadus-Therian!
:sm/tornadus-therian:

Tornadus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- U-turn/Taunt
- Defog

With access to a wide attacking movepool which includes: Knock Off, U-turn, Hurricane, Heat Wave, Focus Blast. Regenerator and a high base speed stat. Tornadus-Therian ranks among one of the most annoying mons to consistently deal with. On top of that, access to Defog and Taunt makes it a consistent mon for hazard control. For the players who enjoy using bulkier or aggressive team structures, counterplay to this mon is paramount. How do you check or counter it?

Submissions will remain open until Saturday, November 21st at 11:59 Pm GMT -5.

Zapdos @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Static

EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Volt Switch/Discharge
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Roost

The perfect counter to Tornadus-Therian:Tornadus-Therian:. Due to zapdos's bulk and defensive typing, zapdos can eat literally any move that torn can dish out without any investments in SpDef so it can be ableton play a physical wall role, And with an amazing 125 SpAtt, it is able to dish alot in return with either Discharge or Volt Switch. But only these features isnt what makes this the perfect counter. The way tornadus is good is due to his high speed and being able to pivot with U-turn from any pokemon that threatens him and is able to Recover with Regenerator(recovers 33% every time the pokemon switches out) while doing so. What makes this good is his high speed. Zapdos can punish that with its ability static(30% chance to paralyze the attacking pokemon if the attack is a contact move), being able to cripple the biggest thing that makes torn good if he ever tries to pivot with U-turn or tries to Knock Off its item.

252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 87-103 (22.6 - 26.8%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Supersonic Skystrike (185 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 147-173 (38.2 - 45%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

If someone is this desperate In Beating zap with torn, Z Icy Wind

252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Subzero Slammer (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 214-252 (55.7 - 65.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 SpA Zapdos Discharge vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 228-270 (76 - 90%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

0 SpA Zapdos Volt Switch vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 200-236 (66.6 - 78.6%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

0 SpA Zapdos Discharge vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 228-270 (62.9 - 74.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

0 SpA Zapdos Volt Switch vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 200-236 (55.2 - 65.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- U-turn
- Roost
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Thanks to his double-type, Tapu Koko is able to switch-in correctly on every offensive options fromTornadus-Therian. Moreover, possessing both enough speed to outspeed Tornadus-Therian, a stab able to OHKO him and a recovery move in the form of roost (giving him much more staying power), Tapu Koko is thus a honorable check to Tornadus-Therian. Finally, it should be noted that Tornadus-Therian is not currently running Toxic at all, thus avoiding the reduction on staying power induced by Toxic.

Some calcs:

- 252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Supersonic Skystrike (185 BP) vs. 40 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Koko: 170-201 (58.4 - 69%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
