It's worse in the sense that town fruit vendor should always use ability, while scum would want to potentially carry the night kill or use some of the abilities

unless recruit doesn't get informed until some time after daystart, which seems like a bad way to resolve it, then i can confirm i wasn't recruited
re: fruit vendor, it probably doesn't get selected on a mafia team that didn't use a recruit given the caveat
By the way, Samoyed WAS a magia fruit vendor in the last game. But that game demonstrated perfectly why its a bad choice for mafia. And jalmont confirmed the FV couldnt use a factional block or cop either, which last game Im not sure that was even enforced

honestly one of the roles i least expect mafia to pick is governor, but maybe that's too rooted in what i think would be too -ev with minimal upside

writing this out makes it look a little sillier than it seemed in my head, so i'm not gonna give it much merit for now
to add to this: think of the use cases for governor as mafia
if you use it on a partner that's at risk of being voted, you basically chain yourself to your partner if they flip and vice versa unless you can play it off as too outrageous to be partner behavior. or you could use it on a partner that's not at risk, but to pretty much no benefit
so then you're looking at a role that mafia would have to spend 10 credits on just to probably wind up using on a villager
it flat out sucks for mafia, there's no reason to choose it and it's not a role that conventionally makes you look better in thread. while i won't rule anything out on roles alone, that's the role i'm least suspicious of by defaut

Governor was picked by DS last game and they actually did successfully self-govern. I agree that role would be way low on my list to draft.
Trackers make sense because you deny town possible red checks and can sclut healers with them. One healer makes sense so you can prevent them from cross targeting forever. Otherwise, I think any low cost role other than FV is fine. I agree with M2H the restless spirit is a pretty stilted pick for mafia.

ah neat, i didn't see the mafia team outside of the universal backup due to the role being flipped in the thread recap post
agree on both the tracker & healer fronts, though both seem like the most obvious choices in my eyes. though i know not everyone's gonna see through the same lens as me or factor that in the same when choosing roles, so it levels out
the cynic in me wants to find out mafia chose the double voter because i think that's a boss move
