I don't think I've touched any of the tiers I signed up for for more than 2.3 nanoseconds (actually, I played like 10 games of OU), but I am infamous for going toe to toe with mainers after making teams that follow no conventional building standards. Also called: heat. Bounce ideas or feed me teams and I'll be fine lol.

Alright y'all, with three days left until auction, I thought I'd put together another predictions form. Last time I did one of these was for SPL, when jacob got a whopping 11 predictions right on the nose and won a sweet ass trophy.

Got some thoughts on who the most expensive player will be? Pretty sure you know who's gonna get ranked #1 in the Power Rankings? Think you can guess who will be the first player to be sold back, or how many tourbans there will be? Enter them here!


Form will stay open until Saturday at some point. If I'm feeling motivated, I'll make another sweet trophy to even put jacob's to shame!

Hello,

The Blanket would like to recommend Confide to the wonderful managers in this tournament. This last WCoP was his first big team tour in a long time (effectively his first ever), and he was a phenomenal teammate in basically every regard. Prior to the start of the tour, I was worried about how involved he would be given he’s a pretty quiet guy in public, but he blew all of my expectations away. As a manager it’s always great to see a player who is receptive to criticism and willing to put in effort to genuinely improve. Confide was always breaking down his games and analyzing them, even when he won. Despite not being in one of his main tiers and facing many tough opponents, he always had a confident attitude and put in the work needed to do his best. Whether that was prep, practice, analysis, etc., he clearly has a great approach to things. Also he was just a chill social presence in general. Beyond WCoP, his results in lower tiers have been really impressive lately… that success is what made us decide he was ready to play on the big stage in OU, so I’m sure he will be even better in the tiers he actually mains.

I really don’t know about the perceptions of lower tier players/the pools as of late, but I still wanted to make this post since Confide consistently goes under the radar. Also, if he’s capable of success on our crazy team, then surely he will be great anywhere he lands. Please give the guy a shot, it’ll pay off well.

With that, The Blanket would like to wish good luck to all those participating in this tournament, especially the managers. While I may not be into lower tiers myself, I sincerely hope this tournament acts as a competitive and fun experience for your communities. I am looking forward to watching the draft and hopefully seeing some new faces break into the tournaments scene. Have fun everyone.

With ~3 hours until the auction, I've gone ahead and closed the survey. Thanks to the 85 people who participated! Here are some key highlights:

  • Not a surprise given Tony's history as a manager, but the Indigo Platoon seemed to be a clear favorite among many of you. The Platoon took the lead in most likely to be ranked first in Power Rankings (where they completely demolished the competition with a whopping 60.5%), most likely to be ranked best OU (29.3%, beating out the Spartans at 22.7% and Studio Gible at 21.3%) and most likely to win the whole tour (37%, standing well ahead of Studio Gible's 19.2% and the Arena Spartans at 12.3%).
  • Meanwhile, consensus seems high that the worst performing team will be the Uncharted Terrors. 28.4% of you voted it most likely to come in last place, beating out the Showdown Shoguns (20.3%) and the Orange Islanders (18.9%).
  • More than half of all participants (46) believe Eo Ut Mortus will be the most expensive player in auction. Punny was a distant second, with 14 votes.
  • Sorry Stone_Cold; no one fell for your bait. Not a single person voted Bushtush as most likely to be first nomination. Most people think it will be Eo again (24 votes), with Punny (12 votes) and talah (10 votes) coming in behind.
  • Most of you expect this to be a less dramatic tour than previous iterations, with the average number of expected tourbans hovering at 1.78. Only four people expect to see 6 or more tourbans this year.
  • Opinions were incredibly divided on who the biggest steal of the auction will be. In the end, it was a tie between Charmflash and Skypenguin with three votes each. Everyone else received two or fewer.
  • On the other hand, the most overpriced player had a much clearer consensus: Finchinator with 17 votes was the clear favorite. There MAY have been some ballot stuffing, though, given how many times Finchinator, NOT FINCHINATOR, Grinchinator, TRYHARD FINCHINATOR, et al. voted, all of whom seemed to love sticking Finch in this category. Behind Finch was talah (6 votes) and a three way tie between SoulWind, M Dragon and Eternal Spirit (5 votes).
  • It's nice to have constants in this ever-changing world: in a repeat of the SPL X survey, dice reprises the role of most likely to get sold back for cancering with 22 votes. Nat was a distant second with 7 votes.
  • The real loser of this survey? The state of the modern education system. Five separate people listed someone as most expensive player in the auction, then included someone else with a higher bid when putting in expected totals.
Anyhow, I'll release the full survey results once the final winners are announced and I'm motivated enough to clean up the spreadsheet (Google Forms is GARBAGE, the spreadsheet last time was a mess too), but for those of you with curious souls, here are the average prices you all expect players to go for:

  • Bushtush - Avg. 12309.2, Median 12000
  • Charmflash - Avg. 8805.6, Median 8000
  • dcae - Avg. 12130.1, Median 11500
  • dice - Avg. 12608.1, Median 11500

wondering why the hosts didn't redo the lusa nom since one of the managers typo'd a bid amount in it, considering that that has been done every other time this has happened, ever, and it happens like once per spl.

was it not doable cause the auction wasn't paused fast enough and someone got nommed right after? i'm pretty sure the bot lets you relocate funds and players freely so i doubt it's this, but if so, the bot should be changed to fix that in time for next spl

or was it a deliberate change in the policy, if so you should probably post about it in admin decisions so we know before spl (though i wonder if you'd enforce it if the typo'd amount had been 30k or if the manager in question had been someone with more clout)

its because bouff overruled the tournament directors and denied the redo. let me know if you need anything else cleared up
