Finals Smogon Champions League V - Finals [Won by Showdown Shoguns]

The last time I won a team tour trophy was 2019 and I never expected to get another one until the SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOGUN franchise began. something insane about how I won my 3rd wcop, my 2nd spl, but this damn green trophy took me 9 tournaments from being a cancer in snake 1 to scl 5 as a manager main. this feeling is insane because it's the culmination of many people putting their best efforts forwards

to keep the personal yap short: I've long realized that competitive mons brings out the worst side in me. my right brain goes ooga booga wah wah hax too much. I of course don't bring it into the team anymore, but throughout the years, I've said things I regret saying and I'm always shocked by how toxic this game can be. I'm very glad that this will be the last tournament I'm physically and emotionally capable of caring about to this extent, so ending on a win is an amazing mood. of course, my fomo will likely make me sign up for spl and run it down, but something just hit different managing this tour and I always knew it'd end with this + wcop

in my previous team tour wins, I only shouted out the helpers bc of how important they are to the team dynamic/prep

I truly can't believe it. we started in this franchise THREE YEARS AGO!!!! this being our 4th attempt. lode decided to drop 50k on me + blunder combined and I proceeded to have genuinely the worst performance of my life. throughout the years, the franchise has been trolled and memed for always being the Potential Team, but I truly believe we drafted two of the strongest teams in mons history the past two years. we've been through terrible circumstances and a ton of losses, but I'll always appreciate that we kept going forward and got to right now. I'd definitely not be playing mons as much without this group, so much love and thank you. words can't describe how much this friendship means to me
we kind of always knew our general chat wouldn't be super popping (besides on game weekends) cuz that's how we drafted + needing a side server. we picked up individual players who we knew would be extremely tryhard and care about their own records. along with those players came fantastic helpers that became instrumental in our victory and I don't know if we could do it without em, truly

RU: Txunt! Heatranator had to put yall first cuz the synergy with HIGH JUMP KICK HIGH JUMP was through the roof. the cooking and sheistening that happened in this chat was inspiring to me to put more effort into nu and ou. I see you're in ru premier leagues, so hopefully managers will take the chance on you come next SCL bc you're truly the goats

OU: CTC is top 5 SV OU simply through existing and building. he might be banned and busy, but nobody on this website has a stronghold of the meta as the GOATC does

DOU: 5ft5 Xrn Feyy thank you three for adding even more hype and hard work to our dou core. the amount of effort yall put in as a group is something I'm always gonna be grateful for even if we didn't use my patented shuca berry Okidogi or Slowking Galar

OU: Baddy Mako 3d trust the fucking process... very pleasant group to work with and a lot of faith put into our supporting capabilities. I didn't build that much, but each time my teams were used you all used em with complete trust in the crack and I'm grateful for that level of faith
Overall, I'm very happy to have ended up with all of you as players and I could see the growth that was happening on a weekly basis. as manager, I saw the lows, but I also saw the highs and would get EXTREMELY hyped. 5-5 7-3 8-3.. 20-11 let's fucking go. nobody ever stopped wanting to improve and that's really all you can ask for in an ou core.
- Baddy: you may have been cursed to wlwlwl, but I mean it when I say that lead sequence in semis is not something I would've done and it directly contributed to the W. your w1 + semis games were my favorite, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of that energy and confidence in the future. pleasure to work with and always wants to learn
- Mako: a lot of games made me go HUH but then you'd pull some crazy double and insane hard reads and it'd remind me of why we drafted you. your game this week was genuinely flawless and you worked hard and executed a team you weren't initially comfortable with at all. it's funny to think your initial response to being drafted was "why'd you do that?", but I obviously know that sentiment has changed LMAO. my fortnite squad..

Ubers: Frito I really really appreciate your perseverance and commitment despite difficult and infuriating games. you still showed up and gave it your all despite everything, so I hope you can enjoy the ring

UU: Fogbound Lake - my favorite player ever.. despite the absolute heart attacks from your zap cannon addiction, there were so many instances that reminded me why people need to respect you just as much as they respect mind. one of the funniest teammates I've ever had and also one of the best teammates ever. I didn't know you had these cooks in ya. good eats
SoggyDoggySage - idk how we came to this insane plan to put you in uu, but I'm glad we did. a lot of potential shown despite a busy schedule and it makes me proud to be a Draft supporter. very happy you got your wins!! enjoy your first taste of smogon tour lyfe

RU: hjkhj this was actually an impromptu buy LOL.. we were originally planning on fog in RU, but I saw you nommed and going for cheap and made the baws call that we needed you on our team. lots of hard work, effort, and insane playing and team techs. this is a future retain if he signs up again 100%. another #DRAFT player goobing the field

NU: Plague - ABSOLUTE CLUTCH GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAT. you know that you're the most clutch SCL 3k in history. thanks for showing up when we absolutely needed it my shoguns franchise player. can't put enough words to describe your role in our team from being a tester/support to one of the players I relied on the most.
Ninja sorry for giving you a terrible team the time you subbed in lol... we did not account for the Lizard. thank you for all the tests and support you provided to our starters and I'm glad we were able to win with you. I can't believe you played that many games with plague jesus christo #ANOTHERSHOGUNFRANCHISEPLAYER

PU: mind gaming - terrible teammate. if he signs up for SPL, he should only be 9k max. not drafting again.

LC: Eniigma - this man's mienfoo usage is fking 20% or something diabolical. loved watching your cooks and absolutely RIDICULOUS squads, but that's why you're the lc goat you don't bend to the norms. shoguns franchise player getting his getback with MAJOR wins. love having you

DOU: SEA eragon - amazing DOU core. even if the record might not feel like it, I've never seen a prep core work this cohesively and actively together. we started with that super sheist valiant tech that was an absolute robbery, but I was very glad to see that the hard work and dedication never tapered off. you both absolutely deserve this W
This only breaches the words I have for our team. special shoutout to all the past Shoguns as well. I always thought of this team as Stockholm Syndrome :skull: because most of the players only have positive things to say despite disastrous seasons, but that curse ends here... I like to think that we won for all the previous Shoguns as well

Gonna hijack the thread to shoutout some people that have helped me this season. Without them, I would not have done nearly as well as I did, and I owe a huge thank you to all of you.

Firstly, to every single person on my team and the managers lax ima Giannis Antetokommo-o Eniigma Mako 3d Fogbound Lake Baddy mind gaming SEA Frito Plague SoggyDoggySage Hayburner Ninja eragon : Thank you for believing in me and allowing me so much control over my slot. I know there was a bit of a rough patch in the middle where both my prep and play were lackluster, and that was evident in the record. Despite that, you guys continued to believe in and support me fully. Thank you so much! <3

Next, I want to specifically thank all the people that helped me out in RU with builds, testing, and ideas.

Heatranator I have to start with you, because you were basically the best teammate I’ve ever had. You were literally putting in just as much effort as me, and some weeks even more than me, to the point where you were effectively a teammate and not just support. You are by far the greatest teammate I have ever had in any tour ever, and I don’t think you will ever be topped in that regard either. Literally every week, as soon as I said I needed help, and sometimes even before I got the chance to ask, you would be there immediately to offer any form of support I needed. I literally could not have done this without you. This record and trophy is as much yours as it is mine. Thank you so much!

Txunt! You were the first person I wanted to invite into our server as I knew you were a great player, and if I could gain your support I knew I could do well. And you did not disappoint. Almost every week, you had good insights that helped me build, and your test games helped me optimize both the team structures and the way I played. Sometimes you go a little crazy with the (unviable) ideas, but even then it’s always valuable to see your thought process, and it often helped me open up to a new idea. Without your help, I have no idea what my performance would’ve been like, but I do know it would be nowhere near as good. Thank you for everything!

Canard My HO goat. I’ve stolen (sometimes with your permission) your builds and ideas for a good part of this tour, and they have been mostly very, very good. I owe a lot of my wins this season to you and your builds. Additionally, you also helped me ensure my team was safe against opposing HO because pretty much every week, we would run a lot of games where you just absolutely beat me down with HO until I tweaked the build to no longer lose to it. Thanks again for all the help :]

Hoops I asked to add you into our server pretty late into the season because we were never really that close, but I am so glad I did. There were a couple of weeks when I sought out your help with testing, and you provided high quality test games that helped me prepare for the real one. In addition to that, there was one specific week when you made a suggestion after a test game that completely shifted my perspective of the team I was going to bring, and that shift helped me win that week. Though we did not communicate that often during the season, when we did, it was always super insightful and useful. Thank you!

hi.naming is hard Hey boss man, I pretty much relied on you for test games whenever no one else was around during the random times I was able to be online. Every test game was useful, and I'm glad you decided to help me out this season. Thanks a bunch friend :)

Ming549 OK not gonna lie, sometimes I felt like you were ragebaiting me with the amount of times we argued about random stuff this season LOL. That being said, it helped me stay grounded, and having opposing views helped me a lot with ensuring that any and all concerns with my build were noted and taken into consideration. I'm also super greatful for you helping me out with test games so many times throughout the season. I appreciate everything you have done for me during this tour, thank you :D

For anyone else that has helped me this season with test games or suggestions or anything of the like, thank you so much. Every little thing counts, and it was part of the reason why my season went the way it did.

And finally, I just want to say to everyone I’ve mentioned above that if you ever need anything, let me know and I will try to be there and support you as much as I possibly can, and I would be honored to work with any and all of you in any capacity. Thanks again everyone!!!
