Welcome to the Draft League forum's inaugural tournament! This thread will contain links to all of the draft pool sheets, containing the pool assignments for all 960 players.

Here are the rules for the tour, they can also be found on the Rules tab on any of the sheets.
  • You have up to 90 points with which to draft 8 Pokémon. Costs are listed on your pool’s tab on the drafting spreadsheet.
  • If a Pokémon is picked by someone else, you make not pick it.
  • For the first round, there is a 12 hour timer. After the first round ends, there will be a continuous 6 hour timer within which you must pick, or you will be skipped, and will be required to make-up your pick when you are next online. All timers are off between 10pm-7am local time (check your pools pinned message for local time).
  • Your timer will halve every time you are skipped. It is recommended to leave picks (with backups) with your pool moderator to avoid this.
  • The following complex bans are in place:
    - No Pokémon may use the move Last Respects.
    - No Pokémon may use the move Shed Tail.
    - No Pokémon may hold the item King's Rock.
    - No Pokémon may hold the item Leppa Berry.
    - No Pokémon may hold the item Razor Claw.
    - Iron Valiant may not be a Tera-Captain.
    - Roaring Moon may not be a Tera-Captain.
  • The following Pokémon have access to all of their forms (although you may only bring up to 1 to each battle):
    - Oricorio
    - Toxtricity
    - Indeedee
    - Oinkologne
    - Squawkabilly
  • Smogon’s Species Clause applies to your draft.
  • Once the draft is over, you must declare 1 Tera-Captain. This is the only Pokémon on your draft that will be allowed to Terastalize.
  • All games must be played in the [Gen 9] Paldea Dex Draft tier on smogtours.psim.us.
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • SV cartridge win conditions are in place; there are no ties.
  • Each set is a best-of-one set.
  • The following clauses apply:
    - Species Clause: A player cannot have two Pokémon with the same National Pokédex number on a team.
    - Sleep Clause: If a player has already put a Pokémon on their opponent's side to sleep and it is still sleeping, another one can't be put to sleep.
    - Evasion Clause: A Pokémon may not hold an item, use a move or possess an ability that can increase their evasion stat.
    - OHKO Clause: A Pokémon may not have the moves Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, or Sheer Cold in its moveset.
    - Moody Clause: A team cannot have a Pokémon with the ability Moody.
    - Endless Battle Clause: Players cannot intentionally prevent an opponent from being able to end the game without forfeiting.
    - Baton Pass Clause: A Pokémon may not have Baton Pass in its moveset."
  • Any items unreleased in SV are banned.
  • Replays must be posted to the pool/round thread.
  • Restarts are prohibited under any circumstances.
  • Rankings within pools may not be 100% accurate as the spreadsheet does not track head-to-head results. Players are ranked based upon: most wins, head-to-head, battle differential.

In the event of a discrepancy between the threads, Google spreadsheets and Discord announcements, the ruling within this thread will be considered as final.

The drafting is currently taking place in the Smogon Draft Discord Server, to anyone who would like to be a sub, please fill out the form in the signup thread OP and make sure to join the Discord, anyone who is not in the Discord will have their signup discarded.

The following sheets are for the battle pools phase of the tour, along with a prep help document. The names of players as well as their drafts are being kept up to date on here, not the drafting sheets, use these instead.
To be used alongside these sheets, we have the following threads.
As well as this, there was a small edit to the rulings for this tour in the 6 battle pool sheets and threads, being that:
  • No Pokémon may hold the item King's Rock.
  • No Pokémon may hold the item Razor Claw.
The OP has been updated to reflect this.

While the form for subs has been closed, feel free to join the Smogon Draft Discord Server to watch games as they are linked live, and to competitors, a reminder that it is mandatory to post your replays to your respective battle pool's thread by the deadline or your game will be voided.

re: iPandaPanda vs. Death of Mimikyu - Battle Pool #144

During this match, Death of Mimikyu forfeited turn 0 and rechallenged, under the presumption that they had to use a Showdown! account that matched their Smogon name. This is not the case. After discussing this with the staff (and looking at the Smogon precedent set in this post - while it was not stated in the rules, we've been told by senior staff to follow it nonetheless), iPandaPanda will receive a 3-0 forfeit win. Regarding other games in the tour thus far that have been restarted, the staff team have been told that we cannot apply rulings retroactively and thus, they will stand. Restarts are prohibited under any circumstances. Apologies for this not being stated in the rules, it has now been edited into the OP of this thread.

re: iPandaPanda vs. Death of Mimikyu - Battle Pool #144

Apologies for the back and forth on this, but after discussing the situation within the TD team and with the draft staff, it needs another update.

In the match between iPandaPanda and Death of Mimikyu, Death of Mimikyu forfeited turn 0 and rechallenged due to a false understanding of the rules. However, iPandaPanda accepted this second challenge and thus agreed to a rematch before receiving guidance from the tournament staff on what he had to do. This situation is unfortunate but given this happened prior to the above ruling that "Restarts will be prohibited under any circumstances" and that both players inherently agreed to a rematch, the result of the rematch (Death of Mimikyu's 2-0 win) will stand.

To prevent any further confusion, restarts are still prohibited under any circumstances for future games. This will not be applied retroactively to any games where both players agreed to restart.

re: Games ending prematurely

If the game is forfeited before it starts, due to any reason (including activity claims), the result is 3-0 to the winner.

If it’s a loss in game, including at preview, due to rule break, forfeit, timeout, or due to other factors, the result is X-0, X being the number of Pokémon alive on the winners side at the turn of rule break/forfeit.

re: Bracket and round robin finals

The current system would lead to a round robin finals, we've instead decided to allow 128 byes in the first bracket round (round two of the tour) meaning that the bracket is structured as follows:

Round 2: 384 players, 128 will have byes and 256 will play
Round 3: 256 players
Round 4: 128 players
Round 5: 64 players
Round 6: 32 players
Round 7: 16 players
Quarters (Round 8): 8 players
Semis (Round 9): 4 players
Finals (Round 10): 2 players

We will be allocating byes to 128 of the first seeds in each pool.
If more than 128 first seeds are 4-0:
- We will randomly select 128 of them to get byes.

If less than 128 first seeds are 4-0:
- All 4-0s get a bye, and we randomly select 3-1 first seeds until we have 128 byes.

The timeline on the bracket threads and sheets (once released) will reflect this.

re: Myanmar vs. Ctrl Mage - Battle Pool #14

Due to Ctrl Mage bringing a Leppa Berry on their Pawmot, they will be forfeit, and Myanmar will receive a 1-0 win. Both players will receive a 1 point infraction due to the staff being shown evidence that they were both colluding to throw the game and thus manipulate the result (which is unsportsmanlike conduct).

EDIT: Due to more messages being provided, from private group chats, that show that their intent was not malicious and rather just both players being new, their infractions have been removed.

re: zioziotrip vs Greentea570 - Round Two; and zioziotrip vs Devoc77 - Round Three

During the round two match between zio and greentea, it was determined that the Garchomp used by zio had the ability Sand Veil. This is due to the Kingambit not taking Rough Skin damage when attacking the Garchomp with Kowtow Cleave on turn 12, despite not being Protective Pads. This ability is banned under the tournament rules, and therefore this game will result in a forfeit win for greentea. In light of this, the round three game between zio and devoc has been voided, as the correct matchup for this game is Devoc77 vs Greentea570. This game has automatically been granted an extension, if required, with the deadline for this game being Tuesday January 24th at 11:59pm GMT-5. We apologise for the confusion over this decision and for the delay in this ruling.

re: Evasion Clause

Throughout the tour, on multiple occasions, Evasion boosting abilities have been brought to games due to the format not checking for Evasion Abilities. While the format only banned Evasion Moves, to allow for draft leagues to customise it to fit their specific rulesets more easily, we've decided its to the benefit of all of our future tours to switch to Evasion Clause for all draft formats, banning all Evasion boosting moves, items and abilities.

If you would like to play with Evasion Clause removed, you can use a variation of the following challenge code:
/challenge gen9paldeadexdraft @@@ -Evasion Clause

Tagging Marty and Kris to implement this under the Draft ruleset please!
