(from last week)

47 out of 69 so far. predicting pretty well it seems
SM OU: Eternal Spirit vs CTC - 35/65. Gama has not been performing spectacularly but he is definitely a better player in my eyes. Judging off the builds I've seen from the two in SM, I trust gama's more. Setup HO in ditto meta is no longer viable
ORAS OU: Luigi vs CrashinBoomBang - 60/40. Luigi (the idiot TD) has actually been good and CBB has been looking pretty exposed. I've generally liked Luigi's team selections too I guess, as I have had a few of them in my own builder.
BW OU: Steve Angello vs John W - 55/45. Steve has a proven higher ceiling of play in general, and vs an opponent who has looked REALLY shaky in john w, that's enough to edge out a favorite. Despite the win last week, I still don't think he really played better than his opp.
ADV OU: McMeghan vs Gilbert arenas - 50/50. Very hype MU. Both have been playing well. I can't really pick a favorite. McM has bad luck and marcop has a penchant for crazy teams, so it evens out.

SM OU: Sabella vs Trosko - 40/60. I really didn't like Trosko's team choice vs Kanto this week, but he plays good pokemon from start to finish most weeks. Sabella has been a bit below average, could probably be playing better than he has been. Team wise he's fine, but I have to pick Trosko for playing here.
ORAS OU: Santu vs reiku - 60/40. Santu has been surprisingly very good. Not that I had low expectations, but they were lower than his 4-1. Reiku has been OK in general. Good team selections too, but gotta favor santu here.
BW OU: Frania vs Posho - 45/55. WTF I bolded Posho??? Well... I've seen him play BW and haven't seen Frania play it specifically, but I know he is at least good at the tiers he does touch. I'll give him good odds for the skill I know of, but favor Posho because still need to see if it translates to a fast paced meta like BW (although doubles aint too far off).
ADV OU: eden vs pasy_g - 40/60. Eden has been subbed out since W2 and I don't personally know if it was his choice or performance based. I think that pasy has played notably better in the games he's played than Eden has in his own.

SM OU: ZoroDark vs Welli0u - 55/45. Probably an upset to go with Zoro here, but I like how he plays and I think welli0u may be slipping a tad, given these last 2 showings. Just stop using cringe teams zoro.
ORAS OU: Adri vs Sjneider - 40/60. Always good to see newcomers like Adri get on the board in a nice way their first game (and prove the predictions wrong). I think Sjneider will be a tougher challenge than Persephone, as he has been fairly good this season + brings good teams.
BW OU: zf vs Pearl - zf hasn't been doing too hot, but I think if there was any opponent for his crazy builds to pan out against it would be Pearl, who has been very very 1-dimensional in his team choices. Pearl's play has been good, but I'll take zf to get a win back after a few tough weeks.
ADV OU: CyberOdin vs BKC - 40/60. BKC is better as a player. Odin has been reaaally overly reliant on the same style most weeks. He will either have to be on something more uncomfortable or suffer a cteam from the best player in the pool.

SM OU: frisoeva vs Relous - 55/45. Friso hasn't been spectacular in my eyes, whereas Relous has has a really unfortunate run. I would've rated Relous a bit higher than friso before the tournament, so I'll give a slight edge to the one of them who has grabbed a few wins so far.
ORAS OU: Erzengel vs Persephone - 45/55. I'd say both have been performing about on par, so I'll go with my mental gut which tells me that Persephone ends up playing better. Another close one, but not in the overly competitive-close type of way.
BW OU: SoulWind vs Raiza - 65/35. SW has been unstoppable, and while it seems like Raiza has mostly been playing well... there's more than can be done by him to win these games I feel like. I think the team SW goes with will end up with a favorable MU here, too.
ADV OU: Blightbringer vs Tamahome - 45/55. I was definitely not a fan of blight's team choice this week (neither was he, by his own admission). I think he has a high ceiling of play, but he's gotta be using something good to enact it. Tamahome doesn't make bad team choices imo, and while I have only witnessed his ADV through a few callous cup sets, I know his non-preview ceiling is among the top of the pool.

Vay vs The Grand Babido - Both great players don't let Vay's record make you think he's a bad player, I do think babido has a slight edge though.
Fakes vs ToF - ToF currently has the best DPP record this SPL and I've been loving his team selection.
Kevin Garrett vs BIHI
Emeral vs shawyu 1313
DeepBlueC vs Excal - Excal is looking very strong in DPP atm, though DBC is good too and I am looking forward to this match definitely the highlight of the week for DPP OU.

SS DOU: MajorBowman vs marilli ass
SS LC: Osh vs Luthier Osh looking fire to me
SM OU: Eternal Spirit vs CTC well, i think ctc is a better player but looking a bit coinflip in his games with bad choice of teams, gama is always a threat
ORAS OU: Luigi vs CrashinBoomBang I hate not bolding cbb but im not feeling him this tour, unlucky las week with the stall team facing an impossible matchup tho, on the other hand im a Luigis believer so giving him the edge on this one

DPP OU: Vay vs The Grand Babido i just coinflipped cuz both are not great to me
ADV OU: McMeghan vs Gilbert arenas mcm is sweepin' everybody with cool teams, marcop is insane as well so 55/45
GSC OU: Zokuru vs gorgie dunno who zokuru is but he won last week against conflict so probs he is good!
RBY OU: Kaz vs Heroic Troller top 1 on the tier besides metalgross i guess

Indie Scooters (5) vs (6) Wi-fi Wolfpack

SS OU: Lopunny Kicks vs 1 True Lycan im a big fan of Lycan tbh, lop kicks doesnt look at the best form to me rn, small edge
SS OU: Leo vs Star Star is actually a fire player on SS getting good matchups and playing his odds well, Leo is good as well tho but not enough
SS OU: Jayde vs The Hallows not a Jayde fan but hes playing well, Hallows on the other hand is cool to watch and he brings good teams, 51/49 one
SS DOU: Memoric vs SMB ass
SS LC: tazz vs Jytcampbell tazz is not looking like the best lcer but the other guy doesnt even play the tier so..?
SM OU: ZoroDark vs Welli0u highlight of the week for me, i really like both players, giving well the egde cuz hes playing SO well but zoro can win without doubt, looking to watch this one
ORAS OU: Adri vs Sjneider Adri plays looked great to me, Sjneider is good at ORAS as well, small edge
BW OU: zf vs Pearl Pearl believer here, zf is just struggling a bit so
DPP OU: Kevin Garrett vs BIHI can actually god kg wins 2 games in a row, cant wait to see
ADV OU: CyberOdin vs BKC Kevin is just smashing everyone but he has to care vs Odin tbh, its not an easy one
GSC OU: Fear vs sulcata he just gonna luck and sulcata played really bad last week
RBY OU: Bedschibaer vs rozes well, i think rozes is more cool

Alpha Ruiners (3) vs (8) Cryonicles

SS OU: FLCL vs soulgazer sg fan since 2011 or so, he at least knows which are his wincons, fooly is good too
SS OU: Twixtry vs Eo Ut Mortus I think eo's better but Twixtry fishing matchups is legit like a coinflip so
SS OU: Empo vs Sacri' in sacri's boat since i was born, empo is gonna dracovish or something
SS DOU: qsns vs Tman ass
SS LC: jake vs ggggd well hes undefeated, lily outplayed him last week a bit and hustle gave him the win tho, hes still the best anyway
SM OU: Gondra vs Updated Kanto alright, second highlight of the week, Gondra is a monster and playing like he never did but im still a true kanto believer, like he played really good against the best (Trosko) so I'll give him a small edge here, insane game tbh
ORAS OU: xImRaptor vs Garay oak garay is in a good mood, played well vs me last week, confident on his W this week too, raptors good too
BW OU: Caetano93 vs Finchinator finch lookin' unstoppable, he just lost vs Borja cuz Borja is the best so bolding him like every week i guess
DPP OU: Emeral vs shawyu 1313 dunno who the other guy is
ADV OU: Hyogafodex vs z0mOG zom is playing well so psure he'll continue winning most of weeks
GSC OU: FriendOfMrGolem120 vs Mr.E i guess hes just better
RBY OU: Alexander. vs HML am alexs fire

Stark Sharks (7) vs (4) Congregation of the Classiest

SS OU: xray vs suapah third highlight of the week, both playing their heart out, bolding xray cuz i think hes more creative with the teams, suapah is destroying everyone as well so really interesting one here
SS OU: bro fist vs blarghlfarghl john is just better and surprised me he used cheese last week, i didnt expect that from him so maybe hes going to the devil side to get Ws
SS OU: teal6 vs Insult insult is actually playing really good, teal as well, small edge
SS DOU: Kiichikos vs stax ass
SS LC: EviGaro vs Serene Grace probs shes just better? idk
SM OU: frisoeva vs Relous not a big fan of noone of both but idk i just pick sharks guy cuz they have better support on the team
ORAS OU: Erzengel vs Persephone persephone teams are actually nuts he just needs to play better to success
BW OU: SoulWind vs Raiza going undefeated for sure this season, last week game vs steve was the best bw game ive seen in my entire life
DPP OU: DeepBlueC vs Excal hes just better i guess
ADV OU: Blightbringer vs Tamahome tama played so bad last week so hes on adv now, i belive in his skills but not in his mental
GSC OU: Conflict vs KratosMana well is too hard to not bold conflict BUT im Antis fan so yeah
RBY OU: Genesis7 vs Amaranth idk, mdrag/sw support

good luck bigs!

ORAS OU: Erzengel vs. Persephone
DPP OU: DeepBlueC vs. Excal
GSC OU: Conflict vs. KratosMana

I'm looking forward to these three games - all six players like to push the boundaries of their respective metagames.

Blight vs. Tama also has a lot of potential if M Dragon stops giving Blight such awful, passive teams that can't do anything without a perfect matchup. Raiza has shown himself to be a strong BWer and I think it'll be quite a game but SW looks unstoppable.

Go Wolfpack

Steve Angello (45) vs (55) John W - John W bounced back with a win last week, even if it perhaps should have been a bit less close at the end. Steve gave SoulWind another close game, which was impressive in its own right. He is unpredictable and pretty dangerous as an opponent because of this. It is hard to anticipate what he will use or how he will execute during the battle, but he has a decent chance here. Going with John W in a close one because I think he is a little ahead in the metagame knowledge and consistency departments, as depicted by his teams thus far, but it could go either way.

Frania (40) vs (60) Posho - Posho's biggest opponent is not Frania or the Bigs or even his crippling tendency to bring fringe viable Pokemon and sets like Virizion, Alomomola, and the infamous SubPunch Tyranitar. Much on the contrary, his biggest opponent this and every future week has to be himself. He manages to claw his way into winning positions through crafty maneuvers more often than not, which is a testament to his abilities as well as there being some sign of his old, more dominant form still being in there. However, some small detail or sequence tends to be overlooked or mishandled and the game slips away more often than not. Posho has to take his time, consider all opportunities for both himself and the opponent, and simply play his game without any interruptions and he is clearly the superior BW player here. He is very accomplished in the tier after all. As for Frania, he is no slouch in singles tiers, but he is far from a BW main and even in WCOP he needed some fortune to pull through in SM vs weaker competition. I think you have to favor Posho here, but he can easily crumble under pressure or when faced with complicated mid-late game situations.

zf (49) vs (51) Pearl - Big names with big price tags that are facing big struggles and are worth about half of the Bigs' bench. zf is back in BW after a rough week in LC and Pearl is sticking in BW despite recent struggles. His struggles have at least been interrupted with a few wins; zf, on the other hand, has lost his last four games unfortunately. Coming into the tournament, I figured zf was ranked a little too confidently due to his price tag as he still lacks a ton of official experience in BW, but he is solid nevertheless. Pearl, on the other hand, was a wild card in the tier with a ton of support and a ridiculously high ceiling. Things have not been working out for either though. Now is a chance to get things back on track and turn the season around, but I think zf and the Scooters may just not be positioned well enough to generate consistency in BW. Pearl is someone who I will favor here simply because I think he is a tad less mistake prone (yea, the Tyranitar into Latios last week was not ideal, but he was almost definitely losing that regardless) and he has superior support.

SoulWind (60) vs (40) Raiza - SoulWind won another close game, advancing to an impressive 5-0 in a tough pool. He has lived up to all of the hype thus far. Raiza, on the other hand, has to be fed up at this point. He has gotten unfortunate in consecutive weeks and has nothing to show for it. He did mess up at the end against KG, costing him the win after he pushed through three misses and a critical hit to get there, which is less than ideal as well. I still have faith in Raiza, but bouncing back against undefeated SoulWind in the middle of a playoff race is going to be one of the biggest challenges Raiza has ever faced. Because of this, I think it is pretty impossible to favor him here. He has the ability to generate a favorable match-up, especially if SoulWind uses something within his comfort zone, but capitalizing on that within the game against a player like SoulWind is a bit of a different story.

Misc.

ADV OU: McMeghan (55) vs (45) Gilbert arenas - Favorite non-BW old generation game of the week. McMeghan looks quite good in ADV and Marcop is solid ofc. I think that McMeghan's natural diversity and flare for innovation actually plays to his advantage as Marcop tries to pin-point opponents to a general archetype or range of styles, which will enable some techs or niche Pokemon on his own end as we have seen over the last few weeks. I do not think this will be as possible against McMeghan, so I wonder if he will default to something more standardized and if that will impact his ability to pilot at such a high level as it is not actually his default approach. With this said, Marcop is still a well-versed ADV player, so I do not think there is too much concern there so much as you want to be at your 100% best and have as much information as possible against someone as good as McMeghan and I am not sure if those conditions will be met. Favoring McMeghan slightly because of that and his strong play thus far (even in GSC, his losses were in part due to being less fortunate). Should be a good one, excited to see it.

DPP OU: Fakes (45) vs (55) ToF - Clash of DPP titans here, more or less. ToF continues to bring in wins after all of these years and I have a lot of respect for that consistency. Fakes is an activity risk, but when he shows up, he is the real deal. I favor ToF if he picks a team before last second and is able to pilot the team at the same level he has been doing recently. There are going to be some "ifs" in the equation on either side as both have been going for so long and probably are removed from their primes, but there is no true sign of gameplay crust for either, so I still have high hopes and am excited to see this one.

SM OU: ZoroDark (40) vs (60) Welli0u - I'm convinced that one, if not both, teams used will be disgusting. And I kind of am excited to see how that will be the case. Zoro is a solid SM player, finding success and consistency in the tier over the last year, but Welli0u has been one of the top SM performers in recent memory and this tournament is no exception. He has been pretty lucky overall, but he has ABR support and he is not afraid to pull some triggers, so I have to give him some credit. I think this game will be drawn-out and perhaps decided by bulky win conditions matching up well against a certain build or not, which I tend to associate as a positive for the ABR side given how he prepares.

SS OU: bro fist (65) vs (35) blarghlfarghl - One of the biggest trap games of the season. Whoever uses the Pelipper will win, probably. Excited to see how SS players adapt to the Rain wave this week in general, but I think bro fist is a step ahead of things whereas blarghlfarghl is more likely to use a solid team with a dynamic win condition like Cloyster or double dance Corviknight, praying that it pulls through if he faces a bulkier core that he otherwise cannot break easily. I give the edge in teams and playing to john, but something about this game just feels like it will end up getting out of hand and that leaves me wondering what kind of chaos we will encounter this time around.

YAHALLO AND WELCOME BACK TO THE UNBIASED PREDICTIONS

Lessons learned in Week 5:

1. The Wolfpack season is in REALLY dire straits right now. They can't stop letting down the goat, and multiple tiers look like a disaster right now. They still have the tools to make the playoffs, but things look like a pretty uphill battle from here, with duels with the Cryos and Tyrants still on the schedule. They really might be out

2. The Tyrants are still in it. Last week against the BIGs was basically a must win, and the team managed to take diwn a surging squad even with CBB and blunder both losing. ctc looks like a trainwreck, though, so therr are still some flaws here. I think they'll make playoffs, though.

3. Speaking of the BIGs, their season is back to being a mess. It's gonna be a real struggle for them from here, especially with Charmflash still being squandered in GSC for whatever reason, Fakes not showing up for his games, and Leftiez hitting the bench already. Well, at least they tilted the Sharks lol.

4. The Ruiners are still fire. I ranked them 3rd in my mids PRs, and they seem to be unstoppable now.

5. The Tigers are basically eliminated LOOOL They aren't getting 7 points in 4 weeks bros
RIP

Circus Maximus Tigers (5) vs (6) Dragonspiral Tyrants

SS OU: Kebab mlml vs blunder | this guy's definitely a meme LOOL people kept asking me to add him to the undrafted frogs team, but who the hell is this bro?
SS OU: Eeveeto vs Christo | christo's been solid lately and I'm not a huge eeveeto fan
SS OU: Rexus vs TDK | tdk's been pretty solid and I'm definitely not bolding some meme pu main against him
SS DOU: MajorBowman vs marilli
SS LC: Osh vs Luthier | I think osh is the best lcer and he's more proven in individual oturs
SM OU: Eternal Spirit vs CTC | the basedlord looks pretty bad right now LOL I'm sure if he's the answer in 2020 bros...gama has also looked pretty fucking sketch, but i'll trust him in this one
ORAS OU: Luigi vs CrashinBoomBang | LOOOL pretty sure this is the first meeting between these two since

CBB's struggled with matchup and has had made some misplays. He's not 1-5 bad, though. And while I am a Luigi fan, I don't think he's 5-1 good LOL That being said, it wouldn't be surprising if GB took this one home; however, I'll trust CBB for one more week.
BW OU: Steve Angello vs John W | haven't really been convinced by john w as of late and steve's more proven
DPP OU: Vay vs The Grand Babido | bab hasn't really been that impressive, but I was never really a vay believer and didn't really understand the hype. he's been pretty bad too so
ADV OU: McMeghan vs Gilbert arenas | marcop's solid, but mcmeghan's an ADV legend and is definitely better
GSC OU: Zokuru vs gorgie | this is a weird one LOOL I don't know, honestly. There's just no conceivable way that floppy is going to be 5-1; I can't see it. Zokuru's more of an unknown quantity to me, and he is 2-0 in GSC with a nice win against Conflict, who I think very highly of. Miniscule edge
RBY OU: Kaz vs Heroic Troller | troller's the best rbyer bop

Ever Grande BIGS (5) vs (7) Team Raiders

SS OU: Adaam vs Lusa | haven't really seen much of adaam in ss ou. the fact that he hasn't played it this entire time is a bit concerning, since it's not like the bigs lineup is rife with talent or anything...lusa's been solid enough so.
SS OU: Sage vs Simia | well, before this tournament i had negative confidence in sage LOL she shattered expectations with a 3-0, but took her first loss last week. simia is on a nice 2-0 run, so I guess in this case, I'll go with the hot hand.
SS OU: aim vs Vulpix03 | the vulpix guy is definitely a meme so.
SS DOU: Ezrael vs Lunar | you know the drill.
SS LC: idiotfrommars vs LilyAC | ifm looked WASHED in gsc like LOL I'm not sure how he's gonna suddenly turn into an SS LC mastermind overnight. Lily's hyped and I think she's decent. solid edge
SM OU: Sabella vs Trosko | GODSKO is gonna go 7-2 in this tour after bein stuck in ss ou for the first 2 weeks. solid edge
ORAS OU: Santu vs reiku | reiku's looked lost at times, but has had some nice showings. Santu's surprisingly been pretty good, though, and currently sports a 4-1 record. I like his odds of winning this
BW OU: Frania vs Posho | LOOOOOOOL fucking posho omg. he's looked completely unviable in this tour, but I do still think he's solid at BW OU. I don't know why the hell FRANIA IS STARTING OVER LEFTIEZ??? but whatever. no faith in him so. solid edge for posho
DPP OU: Fakes vs ToF | ToF has had some luck on his side so far. I'm a big Fakes fan, so hopefully he shows up for this game LOL small edge
ADV OU: eden vs pasy_g | the fact that that EDEN is back in just highlights how dire the BIGs situation really is. If you've watched this guy play in the past few tournaments, you would definitely think he's unviable. Not really a pasy g fan, but he should easily take this
GSC OU: Charmflash vs dice | bro, put charm in sm LOOL jesus the gsc situation is so dire. charm's looked absolutely terrible this tour, and timed out last week as well. I honestly don't know how good dice is at GSC, but I'm a big fan of his talent as evidenced by the fact that I bold him every week. solid edge
RBY OU: Nails vs MetalGro$$ | I think Nails is a hair better.

Indie Scooters (5) vs (6) Wi-fi Wolfpack

SS OU: Lopunny Kicks vs 1 True Lycan | the baron's had some nice wins against empo, but I still don't think he's that great. lop kicks has struggled a bit, but he's far more proven over the past few tours.
SS OU: Leo vs Star | bro who the hell is this LOOL I didn't even know Leo played pokemon, I just thought he was one of the armchair spectators like me. wild. massive edge for star
SS OU: Jayde vs The Hallows | jayde's bounced back the past 2 weeks and he definitely has way more skill than the hallows, who has looked pretty terrible this SPL. I don't really think he's viable.
SS DOU: Memoric vs SMB
SS LC: tazz vs Jytcampbell | LOOOL NOOOOOOOOOOO my boy ht is finally benched. what a tragedy. jesus ht for 3k really was one of the worst moves of the auction considering how low the average lc price was. I don't really think jyt is a viable player, especially in LC. tazz has been pretty lackluster, but I'll trust his experience for this one
SM OU: ZoroDark vs Welli0u | zoroclick is above average, but the well has been a machine since the start of snake. I like his odds here
ORAS OU: Adri vs Sjneider | the other guy probably isn't viable, although he did win last week I guess. sjneider's like decent or like slightly below average maybe? idk but he does have abr teams and has won some games lately so just off that he can have the edge,
BW OU: zf vs Pearl | Pearl was definitely a massive overpay, but I never drank the zf kool-aid before so. He's struggled pretty mightily this tour, and I don't expect Pearl to do that badly in bw. small edge
DPP OU: Kevin Garrett vs BIHI | wow we're really flexing kg everywhere LOOL jesus. He's definitely crust like come on people LOOOOOOL bihi has the goat's teams so. small edge
ADV OU: CyberOdin vs BKC | odin's been p heat this SPL, but BKC's looked otherworldly. He's playing the best Pokemon of his career. solid edge
GSC OU: Fear vs sulcata | time to bold Fear again and watch him luck the milk to 1-5 bop
RBY OU: Bedschibaer vs rozes | beds is a bit more solid and way more experienced

Alpha Ruiners (5) vs (6) Cryonicles

SS OU: FLCL vs soulgazer | flcl's been pretty impressive this tour, and won last week even after missing power whip on seismitoed. sg, meanwhile, is pretty unproven in ss ou, and won last week off of flinching 905834 times with togekiss LOL solid edge here in the clash of nu titans
SS OU: Twixtry vs Eo Ut Mortus | eo's struggled more than I thought, but I still think he's pretty fire. twixtry's been a bit better than I thought, but I'm not really a believer yet. solid edge
SS OU: Empo vs Sacri' | finally, I can confidently bold against empo LOL I think he's definitely overrated, and I really like how Sacri has played.
SS DOU: qsns vs Tman
SS LC: jake vs ggggd | pablo's been amazing this tour, and no reason to predict against him now
SM OU: Gondra vs Updated Kanto | damn, what a game LOOL I really want to bold Kanto, but man GONDRA'S BEEN SO GOOD SOMEHOW WTF he's ascended. he really might 9-0 oml. this should be a very tough match for him, but I'll give him a very slight edge.
ORAS OU: xImRaptor vs Garay oak | still don't really know how viable garay is outside of lower tiers, and raptor's been pretty impressive. solid edge
BW OU: Caetano93 vs Finchinator | the doctor has somehow lit the world on fire so far, but finch has matched him in terms of record and is way more experienced. solid edge
DPP OU: Emeral vs shawyu 1313 | bro who the hell is emeral LOL he's french I think? anyway, he's probably unviable, but it is dpp so he might win anyway. that being said, shawyu's been solid and has osgoode support so, small edge
ADV OU: Hyogafodex vs z0mOG | man, just put prinz back in adv like seriously LOL being weak in adv when u could just be weak in rby is retarded. hyoga is unviable like have you seen his past games??? z0m's been lucky as fuck to be 4-1, but he's definitely more talented. solid edge
GSC OU: FriendOfMrGolem120 vs Mr.E | mre's been worse than I anticipated and fomg's ben trending a bit upwards. small edge
RBY OU: Alexander. vs HML am | prinz is way better.

Stark Sharks (6) vs (4) Congregation of the Classiest

SS OU: xray vs suapah | xrays been good, but suapah's in contention for best performer of SPL so far, going 4-1 against a ridiculous stretch of eo / blunder / flcl / star / lop kicks. he's been amazing snd no reason to expect him to slow down
SS OU: bro fist vs blarghlfarghl | i bold blargh a fair amt but i bold john every week lol
SS OU: teal6 vs Insult | both these players started hot before cooling off lately. teal needed luck to win his last game and insult misplayed a fait amount in the endgame against jayde. this game is a straight tossup to me
SS DOU: Kiichikos vs stax | stax has been heat and sharks doubles is a meme and a half
SS LC: EviGaro vs Serene Grace | these ppl are probably equal in skill and i don't really have a read here
SM OU: frisoeva vs Relous | i RARELY ever bold frisoeva, but he has been serviceable and relous has been a disaster this tour. small edge
ORAS OU: Erzengel vs Persephone | Persephone's been making me question his viability lately and erz is on a slight upswing
BW OU: SoulWind vs Raiza | raiza's definitely better than 1-4, but he's almost assuredly gonna be 1-5 after this LOL
DPP OU: DeepBlueC vs Excal | not a big dbc fan, but it will take more than 1 thinking gen victory for me to think excwl is viable
ADV OU: Blightbringer vs Tamahome | blight was clearly a big overpay, although he hasn't played that bad honestly. tama's amazing, though, and should wash most people in this tier. he even made me good at adv for a while after tutoring me
GSC OU: Conflict vs KratosMana | anti should only get bettet at gsc as the season progresses, but I'm a huge conflict supporter and think he will overwhelm anti
RBY OU: Genesis7 vs Amaranth | tin's been hot, which is enough for a small edge in the joke tier

ORAS OU: Luigi vs CrashinBoomBang (49/51): a big issue for cbb the last 5 weeks was how difficult his opponents were to pin down, all of them being people not particularly well known for their oras other than persephone, who is a complete wildcard in terms of teamchoices. as such, cbb opted for comfort picks, hoping that his superior play would carry him. luigi is one of the best players in the ORAS pool in terms of overall skill, and lately he's shown himself to be a fan of the tier. still, he is a pretty flexible player, which could cause some strain for the boomerang. regardless, it's clear that luigi prefers pretty typical teams with 1 or 2 interesting choices like mega alakazam, serperior, volcanion... cbb only likes to use good pokemon, so the question in this matchup is whether that breaker luigi picks will be sufficient enough or not.

as far as play goes, both have played fine this tour, but luigi has definitely been playing better. still, cbb's play has been mostly good, and it's safe to say he's gonna be hungry this week. his aggressive playstyle also matches up pretty nicely against the bulky offenses and balances luigi likes to bring, especially considering he seems to like some do-nothing, "good on paper" type pokemon like alomomola, regular slowbro, and mega scizor. these are the types of teams cbb is happy to face, and this especially shows in his week 1 game. we will either see both resorting to their comfort zones, which would lead to a cbb win, or we will see more specialized prep for one another, which i think would lead to a just about even game.

ORAS OU: Santu vs reiku (60/40): both of these players are indicative of an issue with the oras pool at large this year: neither is a bigtime "mainer" of the tier, and as such they are wildcards. in recent times, reiku has been really unimpressive in oras. in this tour, he has a win with stall and a loss with... some ungodly mess. out of santu's 4 games, he's used two pretty well known builds (stall and that bulky offense), a mega latias spikes build that looked solid but had some horrific EVing, and a pretty weird bulky offense. the bit of variation here compared to some of the other guys makes him a bit tougher to predict; last week made it clear he is willing to deviate a bit from standard style and/or well known builds. in terms of their play, i can't say i'm the most familiar with reiku, but what i've seen hasn't been anything that inspiring. santu is someone i've always been kinda high on, and this spl he's shown that the respectable performances he had in stour were not just a one time thing.

ORAS OU: xImRaptor vs Garay oak (65/35): raptor's prep has been IMMACULATE. he and the ruiners have a fantastic eye for picking good teams, even though pretty much all of them have been known builds. it doesn't really matter that much at this phase in ORAS's life if you're bringing known teams or not because other than a few new trends here and there, the tier has largely been solved. one asterisk on this though, raptor's team pick last week was a bit more bold than prior weeks, but still clearly well calculated. like i said with santu previously, making picks like these separates the boys from the men in this pretty bland oras pool, as it shows raptor doesn't really have much of a comfort zone. garay's team picks have been fine overall, though i'm a much bigger fan of the stuff he's been bringing in recent weeks compared to what he was bringing at the beginning of the tour. the hit or miss nature of his prep + pretty average play has led to a not-so-great record for him, and i don't think that's going to change anytime soon vs raptor. raptor's play is extremely aggressive, sometimes to the point of being nonsensical, but most of the time effective and well done. garay's play came off to me as really safe and midground focused in the couple games of his i remember, and i don't think this will matchup well against raptor. more importantly though, i think raptor's team choices have been some of the best in the tour, even against less predictable opponents.

ORAS OU: Erzengel vs Persephone (60/40): erz has (mostly) proven my initial opinions about him wrong: his prep has been really well thought out, and his teams have been mostly solid. his play isn't amazing, but it's solid enough to pilot these really effective teams in good matchups, which just shows that he and the sharks are good at playing to his strengths. his team choices have an incredible amount of variety to them, with some being really standard / known and others really fitting that xray/xray drone mold of 5 good pokemon + 1 rogue breaker. perseph is fucking insane. the teams he brings are really out there, and it's clear that his goal is to fish for a top matchup. while i think this can be somewhat effective in ORAS, it's clear that it hasn't been working out /too/ well for perseph this tour. furthermore, erz has shown he can bring a wide array of teams to success, and like persephone, he's really knowledgeable about the tier. if perseph wants to win this one, he's gonna need to rethink his typical strategy. more importantly, he's gonna need to polish his play a little bit. i think building is one of the biggest parts of the battle, but perseph seemingly prides himself on being an "in-builder" player a bit too much. he needs to break some bad battling habits to more effectively pilot his freakish creations. still, a lot of his ideas are genius, just with kinda shaky execution...
