Is there a way to change your avatar to another b/w gif without the sprite bleeding through halfway into the animation? For example i'm using slowbro right now and its fine because its my default avatar but when i go onto bwani and take a sprite from there it ends up losing like half of the animation in the second half
The issue is with the transparent background, xenforo doesn't like those for some reason; it (sometimes, not 100% sure how it works) pulls some voodoo magic to auto-fill those on png avatars, but when it tries to do the same with gifs, you get... what you're seeing here. It's not limited to BW sprites, many gifs with a transparent background get messed up. If you want to use a BW sprite as your avatar, you can edit the gif to have a white background and it'll work fine.

Honestly I have no idea why it does not choke on actual default avatars, but those are absolutely an exception.

I am a tad worried about conversations and previous posts going unanswered.

How am I able to get in touch with a moderator please?
It would be best to contact a super moderator or admin about this as they are the only ones who can do this for you. They are the members who appear in the "Online Staff" list on the main forum page.

I apologize for phrasing it badly, I was curious about which (forum or discord) is more active.
I'd say the forums are definitely more active, you will find a broader range of topics discussed here and stuff that you can't find on the Discord. The Discord can mainly be used for casual chatting, talking about competitive mons, the Pokemon games, sports, and video games.

I'm putting a fangame together and I wanna ask for Smogon's advice on building fakemons that'll be fun to play with.
What forum would I ask a question such as, for example, "What's the best possible typing for an assault vest user"?

There isn't really a forum dedicated to this type of conversation since Smogon doesn't endorse fangame discussion (the closest place is Orange Islands which talks about in-game, but talking about fangames is fairly restricted there). The precedent of TPCi sending C&Ds to forums in the past means it's better to be on the safe side, and TPCi is vocal about how much it hates fangames.

However, with good knowledge of Pokémon I think you can work most of these types of questions out yourself. Perhaps read some of the threads in CAP (Create-A-Pokémon) on this site to see how the community works out how to optimise Pokémon designs for battle use, since they're pretty much pros at it over there. You could also try bringing it up in Smogon discord channels since conversation topics are lax there, but I'm unsure which one it would best fit into.

For your particular query, I'd argue the best typing for an Assault Vest user is one with good physical resistances that best needs to supplement its natural physical bulk with stronger special bulk. Then, look at the most common types used by physical attackers (Ground, Fighting, Normal, Rock, Dark, Dragon & Bug seem to be the standouts). The best type to counter this setup seems to me to be Ghost/Fairy, which only leaves a neutrality to Ground-, Dark- and Rock-Type and no weaknesses to anything. You could even include Levitate to alleviate its Ground-Type neutrality, which would fit flavour-wise since it's a Ghost-Type. Another option is Ghost/Steel, but that has a weakness to Ground- and Dark-Type in exchange for being immune to or resisting the other 5.

Another route you could take it is to have a heavily specialised special sponge. That means addressing the types most commonly used by special attackers (Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Psychic, Ice, Ghost, Fairy I'd say are all common enough to be worth addressing. Maybe Flying too.) This is a more difficult type combination to come up with since these types don't share many resistances, but Grass/Steel is perhaps the best. This resists Water-, Grass-, Electric-, Psychic-, and Fairy-Type, while remaining neutral to Ghost- and Ice-Type but having a quad weakness to Fire-Type. Water/Steel is another option, exchanging its 4x Fire-Type weakness for 2x Electric-type weakness, which I think is less favourable because being weak to Volt Switch will hurt it in its role of eating special hits.

There are a few directions you can take Pokémon design and there usually isn't a "best" type to make a certain Pokémon. Use a bit of reasoning like I've done here, find some good options, and then just pick your favourite type that you want to design around. This reasoning is also over-generalised and it may be easier and more lucrative to design around specific Pokémon you want your OCs to beat, since otherwise I wager most of your Pokémon would end up sharing a type since some are simply better than others when speaking in grand terms. Good luck with making the game.

Smogon has a subforum called Pet Mods where people can make custom battling formats and sometimes add new Pokemon. If you like fakemons, then you should definitely check it out. Ask this question in their dedicated SQSA thread and read some of their threads.

I've written a total of Seven analyses. Two are currently in the first stages of Quality Control while the other 5 have been uploaded to the smogon Dex. All of these analyses have been written for ZU, an Unofficial Metagame. It seems kind of backward that writing Analyses for these result in nothing towards badges.

As Kala put it via IRC "why would we have a c&c section that just straight up doesn't amount to anything badge-wise"

My question is why do UM analyses on Smogon dex not contribute to earning a badge? People put a lot of effort into them and I'm almost positive that If I had ended up writing for another official tier say UU, for example, I would most likely have the same number I do now.

EDIT: this question was resolved via Smogon Discord

They do, not sure who is spreading / where it'd be listed that they don't. If there's any guides / stickies out there that mention anything to this effect lmk and I'll edit it out.
That was me :blobpensive: from back in the days when there were unofficial OM analyses that were superficially the same but didn't count...

Is there a place on the forum where I can seek help for competitions like "break this team", "next best thing", and "victim of the week"? I'm quite confident in my teambuilding and battling skills, but I'm not very good at these competitions. Sometimes my submissions get rejected, and when they don't, I usually get no votes. Sometimes I can't even think of a submission.
