Hello everyone, I was reminded that there were no public post addressing this so here you go.

In the past whenever there has been multiple people with the same ELO in last place on a cycle this has been solved through a tiebreak like other qualifications do, like Smogon Tour. However, this ignores the fact that ELO is a continuous scale and there are fractions to every rating you see. When PS displays your ELO as 2150 that is actually a rounded value from some decimal, like 2150.15, 2150.49, or otherwise. PS tracks this for many decimal places, so the chances of being tied in ELO is very, very low.

This is also represented in the ladder rankings. In a situation where multiple alts are displayed as being 2150, the alt with the highest fraction will always be listed first. So even if the value looks rounded in the rankings PS always knows your true rating with decimal places and sorts based on that.

What this means in practice going forward is that there will be no tiebreakers this year. If multiple alts are tied for the 8th spot whoever has the higher position will get the 8th spot instead.

Re: Storm Zone, Mimikyu Stardust, and Agentkeval

The TD team has received evidence beyond shadow of a doubt that Storm Zone, Mimikyu Stardust, and Agentkeval were in call while laddering in the first cycle of OLT IX. This has been and continues to be strictly prohibited regardless of the nature of the call due to the potential implications it may have, thus constituting it as a form of ghosting.

As per the tournament rules and general guidelines:
Playing a game while in a voice call with someone else will always be treated as ghosting of the highest severity.
Result: Storm Zone, Mimikyu Stardust, and Agentkeval will all be tournament banned for one year. Storm Zone will be removed from the pool of players who qualified through the first cycle of OLT IX; Corazan, who finished ninth, will now qualify as a result of this.
