ORAS NU Some Type of Way

This stall team got you feelin' some type of way

Intro
Hello guys, I got here a stall team. I don't normally build stall, so I'm looking forward to seeing your guys's feedback. The main focus of this team is to setup hazards and force things out, slowly widdling the opponent down. Imma keep this intro short and start with the team.

The Team
:)
Audino│Leftovers│Regenerator
252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD│Careful Nature
Knock Off / Wish / Protect / Heal Bell

I feel like there are a couple must have Pokemon for stall teams, and Audino is one of them. Audino serves as the team's cleric. Although My team is pretty resilient to status effects, I still feel like having heal bell is necessary so that if Quagsire gets status'd I have a means of healing it, heal scald burns on Xatu, and heal sleep from Mantine's rest. Audino's wish support is really great for Rhydon and Garbodor, my hazard setters that don't have recovery. The reason I prefer having regular Audino over Mega Audino is because Audino's ability Regenerator helps with wish passing, which is Audino's main role on the team. Regenerator means that Audino can reliably switch into Heliolisk's volt switch without getting worn down.

:]
Quagsire│Leftovers│Unaware
252 HP / 104 Def / 152 SpDRelaxed Nature
Scald / Earthquake / Recover / Curse

Quagsire is a really great new drop we got. I feel like Quagsire is the sole reason stall teams are any good now. Quagsire can stop a majority of setup sweepers and haze them so that another team mate can handle them if need be. I know haze is weird on Quagsire since it has unaware, but I can use haze on Malamar, erase its boosts, then switch to garbodor to get hazards up. I replaced Haze with Curse and it's very helpful so that the end-game goes a lot quicker. Quag handles a lot of things that can give stall trouble such as Malamar, Feraligatr, Mega Steelix, Klinklang, and more. The speed evs are for speed creeping mega steelix. I decided against speed creep, it's honestly irrelevant.

:^
Xatu│Leftovers│Magic Bounce
200 HP / 132 Def / 176 SpeBold Nature
Psyshock / Giga Drain / Roost /Calm Mind

Xatu is used to switch into those grass types that can setup on Quagsire, mainly Virizion. Giga Drain is used as coverage to get past Quagsire. Alternatively you can use Stored Power and use a different coverage move such as Heat Wave, but you end up losing to Quagsire if they carry Haze. Giga drain is also useful for Seismitoad, that way to can deal with it immediately and not have to worry about it getting up rocks. Xatu acts as my way of keeping hazards off the field. The speed EVs outspeed adamant Sawk.

:o
Garbodor│Rocky Helmet│Aftermath
172 HP / 240 Def / 96 Spe│Impish Nature
Gunk Shot / Spikes / Toxic Spikes / Drain Punch

Garbodor lays down spikes and toxic spikes, and acts as my fighting resist. It has great defensive synergy with Audino, being able to take Sawk's banded CC and able to reliably switch into Hariyama. The speed allows me to outspeed Cacturne so I can fire off a gunk shot or setup hazards. Absorbing toxic spikes helps out Quagsire a ton.
:I
Mantine│Leftovers│Water Absorb
248 HP / 88 SpD / 172 Def│Calm Nature
Scald / Air Slash / Rest / Sleep Talk

Mantine is my switch in to Typhlosion and general special wall that also has some offensive presence, unlike Audino. I decided on rest-talk so I can heal Mantine and Defog would be redundant with hazard stacking anyways. Using rest while the opponent suffers from toxic spikes is p cool too. The EVs let Mantine live 2 specs blaze Fire Blast from Typhlosion after rocks.
:J
RhydonEvioliteLightning Rod
136 HP / 16 Atk / 252 SpD / 104 Spe│Adamant
Rock Blast / Earthquake / Stealth Rock / Toxic

Rhydon is my stealth rocker. Although Swellow is not common, it would easily be able to break this team other wise. Toxic is next level innovation by yours truly, it's meant to wear down Claydol so it can't keep spinning and eventually I'll win the hazard war. It's also cool for Toxic'ing Quagsire and Uxie on the switch, it lets Xatu setup along side Uxie late-game without losing. The spdef lets Rhydon take a freeze-dry from Cryogonal and retaliate with rock blast, letting me win the hazard war. The speed is to speed creep fast Mega Camerupt and Mega Steelix.

Conclusion
Again, I'm looking forward to your guys's feedback. I'm not the best teambuilder when it comes to stall, but I figured I'd open my mind and try different pokemon. The nicknames don't work on PS sadly. #FuckMegas

Threats
Virizion - I made sure that I can reliably have Virizion not destroy this team. Quag checks Zen, CC, Stone Edge variants; Xatu checks all variants but Stone Edge; and Garbodor checks CC, Edge, and Leaf Blade variants.

Perhaps the biggest problem with this team is opposing Xatu. If they have Giga Drain as coverage on a CM set I'm pretty sure I straight up lose. Magmortar is also a pretty big threat.

Use resttalk bronzor > mantine to check the threat

hey Davon cool team, it seems quite solid. I think you should use Mega Steelix over Rhydon because it is MegaLix and there's no reason not to use it. It also checks Giga Drain Xatu. :)

Nah I think Rhydon is more important as a backup check to offensive Fire-types. A well-played Typhlosion has the potential to tear this team apart with Mega Steelix over Rhydon. Giga Drain Xatu is also nearly completely irrelevant because everyone runs Heat Wave to hit opposing Mega Steelix. Virizion isn't a huge issue because as you mentioned, Garbodor beats Stone Edge dual STAB, Xatu beats Zen Headbutt dual STAB, and Quagsire beats Close Combat/Stone Edge/Zen Headbutt. Calm Mind sets are trickier, but at least you have Air Slash SpDef Mantine to check them.

Rock Slide Mega Camerupt, Heliolisk, and a well-played Choice Band Sawk all look incredibly irritating for this team. These three are top-tier threats in the metagame, so there's really no way to make slight alterations to cover them. You can toy around with Togetic over Xatu for Sawk and SpDef RestTalk Hariyama over Mantine for Mega Camerupt and Heliolisk, but you lose out on your win condition this way. Still, with Quagsire to beat lastmon bulky setup sweepers, it's probably fine to lose out on that.

I also question how necessary it is to creep Mega Steelix with Quagsire. That's a pretty high amount of Speed investment because you're running Relaxed nature, and the only thing you want to do to Mega Steelix is burn it with Scald. Earthquake never comes close to a 2HKO on Quagsire without a crit anyways. I'd just run 252 HP / 252 Def.

Anyways, try out my suggestions and see how they work for you. Stall is really, really difficult in this metagame, so props on trying it out.

I appreciate the rates everyone!

Sorry Brawlfest I'm not on the next level of innovation that you're on. I don't think my body is ready for bronzor.

Thx for the suggestion scorpdestroyer .Like Hollywood said, Giga drain xatu isn't really a thing (yet), and using mega lix kinda just puts more pressure on mantine. I appreciate the suggestion tho, trust me I was definitely thinking if using mega lix while testing this team.

You're definitely right about CB Sawk, hollywood . Although I find that CB Sawk loses a lot of momentum against this team. Audino can just protect and scout its move, but if they play aggressively I can see it being a problem. I do have Rhydon that can switch into mega camerupt's rock slide if I need it to, so I don't think mega camerupt is too much of a problem. The only Heliolisk I feel like would be an issue for this team would be focus blast variants. I appreciate the input and I got rid of Quagsire's speed creep.

This is a really unique stall team and deviates from the standard stuff which I really like. Using stall in this meta is a ballsy move and hats off to you for that. One problem (more of an annoyance) I have with the team is the lack of a spinblocker seeing as how things like Sandslash and Claydol get an easy spin off. Idk if you can fit a ghost without considerably changing the team though. Also Haze on Quagsire isn't really needed because you have Unaware anyway. So I recommend Curse>Haze on it so you have an extra win condition that can set up on threats you mentioned above (Malamar, Gatr, Klingklang). Even though EQ is your only move benifitting from Curse, it seems worth it to hit those threats rather than to have a stalemate situation (in Malamar's case). Idk it's up to you though.

Davon try out a more specially bulky spread on Quagsire :O

252 HP / 104 Def / 152 SpDef with a Relaxed nature lets Quagsire avoid the 2HKO from Adamant Rhydon's Earthquake while taking on special attackers better, such as modest mesprit w/o energy ball and some random hp grass too. The spread works well with Curse :)

Also if you go Curse, keep Scald: Waterfall is just bad and crippling 'counters' with Scald is always nice :). Waterfall would also just give away that you are Curse tbh.

Do you really need all that Spdef on Mantine? iirc 248 HP 88 SpDef Calm with Leftovers lets Mantine take two Fire Blast in Blaze from Specs Typh after rocks and you should probably use that and the rest in Def just so Mantine can sponge a hit or two from Sawk better for your team if necessary.

Running a faster Xatu might be worth it too. Run enough for Adamant Sawk (or Jolly if its getting popular for some reasons). Also try diff items: Rocky Helmet is always nice to get some good recoil damage on physical attackers and can come in handy in multiple situations (ex: Ferroseed will take a ton of Dmg so you can easily just roost off the damage and cm up without having to care about ferrroseed being at full health if it ends up staying in :), helps get recoil on Sawk, etc). If you don't run Helmet, Colbur Berry probably would be still better than Leftovers just so that you can take Knock Offs better and not get Pursuit trapped, lose Xatu too early, and lose the hazards war.

Hope this was helpful :)

Thx for the suggestions Karane and Soulgazer . I changed Quagsire's EV spread to a more specially bulky spread and changed Haze to Curse. I also took the advice about xatu, giving it enough speed to outspeed adamant sawk and changing leftovers to rocky helmet.

Thank you everyone for helping me optimize the team. I'm on a 15 win streak on the suspect ladder right now, so I think it's doing pretty well. I'm still open to everyone's rates, even though I think the team has become near the best it can be without opening more weaknesses.

Here's some replays so everyone can see how this team plays:

just posting to say that I strongly agree with Soulgazer's changes. I've seen this team in action twice, once when I played against Karane using it and earlier when iplaytennislol faced marilli testing it out. In my battle, Karane was using the exact build in the OP, and in tennis's, marilli was using what I assume were Soulgazer's changes. I managed to win pretty confidently (with a bit of hax, but it's stall so hax is inevitable in longer games), but marilli eeked out the win over tennis because of the bulkier Mantine spread especially, which kept him from getting straight up 6-0'd by Sawk when Xatu got hit with a Knock Off and Garbodor got hit with an EQ. tennis probably would have won anyways if he didn't think Audino was Mega for some reason even after seeing Leftovers, but \_(:))_/

Anyways, point is that the changes are good. SD Torterra also pushes your shit in btw, but lol.
