Hello i'm soviet and this is my walrus. You submit one song for each category fitting the criteria I've outlined and I grade you on them from 1 - 10. I will reveal all of the songs and give my ratings + impressions at this discord at preset times (which i will post on said discord). I think one of the best parts of music is sharing something you really like with someone else so I'd rather you send me songs that you like instead of trying to pander to me. As such I wont be posting a top 50 list or anything but if you really are about the pander lifestyle I like all of my example songs.

Categories :

music that relaxes you, making you feel warm and comfortable

Examples : Manuel Göttsching - Gemäßigter Aufbruch | Edgar Froese - Maroubra Bay

submit music that has a frantic vibe or sense of urgency to it

Examples : Public Image Ltd. - Memories | Coil - Red Birds Will Fly Out of the East and Destroy Paris in a Night

music from current or former socialist states as indicated by this map. tell me which country its from along with your submission

send in music that is electronic or contains electronic elements

music that incorporates nature in some way, be it through field recordings or themes and imagery (animals, running water, the wind, etc)

Examples : Biosphere - Uva Ursi | Chris Watson - The Lapaich

give me a song that tells a story about a character or characters

Examples : Dead Can Dance - Xavier | Tom Waits - Rain Dogs

songs that you think push a genre into new directions that it hasnt yet seen or explore new ideas

Examples : Lil Pump - Gucci Gang | Pickle Rickers in the House

send a song where the topic is death. maybe a character in the song dies or the song is about death itself

Rules :
  • Send your submissions via smogon pm. You only have to send me the artist and song name, not a youtube link. If you want me to listen to a specific performance then send that via a youtube link, otherwise I dont care.
  • My scoring system will be 1 - 10 with 5 being an "average" score. I like music a lot though so the actual average score might be a bit higher than that (especially if everyone submits good songs).
  • I'm going to be very loose with some of the more vague cats so don't expect to catfail those or anything. If you do catfail however i'll notify you in time to resubmit if you want to before I reveal.
  • Dont submit any of the examples.
  • Bonus points will be given out amounting to your base score times 1.05 (an extra 5 percent) for songs that I've never heard before. A score of 5 would get you a 5.25 and a score of 10 would get you 10.5

Here are the standings after round 1. I'll be revealing cat 2 in approximately 1 week on tuesday the 8th at 3pm central time (5 hours ago).
