Spectrier [QC 1/2]

[SET COMMENTS]
Lucarionite Spectrier is one of the most potent wallbreakers in Mix and Mega, with a blisteringly high speed and the ability to fire off powerful Shadow Balls. Most Pokemon cannot readily switch into its attacks, and those that can rarely OHKO back, granting it no shortage of opportunities to power up yet further with Nasty Plot. Dark Pulse is Spectrier's strongest option for hitting Blissey, allowing it to bypass them given sufficient chip, and allows Spectrier to fish for a flinch against Pokemon it might normally struggle with like Ho-Oh. Taunt blocks status moves, which allows Spectrier to block troublesome options like Defog and Toxic that would otherwise cede momentum or give Spectrier's teammates a more difficult time switching in. Substitute can be used over Taunt to allow Spectrier to take advantage of overly passive defensive pivots live Corviknight while still dealing with Toxic, but does not prevent recovery moves or hazard management. Maximum Speed investment and a Timid nature allows Spectrier to outpace nearly the entire unboosted metagame, including powerful offensive threats like Metagrossite Kartana, Zacian, and Salamencite Noivern.

Spectrier is extremely helpful to Pokemon such as Zygarde or Entei that struggle with physical walls, as few of them are capable of standing up to Spectrier's attacks; in return, they're often capable of taking on specially defensive walls like Blissey and Mandibuzz for Spectrier. Slow pivots such as Slowbro and Corviknight are very useful for bringing in Spectrier safely, as it needs to be nearly at full health to take common attacks like Dragonite's Extreme Speed. Eternatus is another particularly good partner, as it is extremely good at wearing down shared checks and counters with Sludge Bomb, while in return Spectrier can handle Pokemon like Slowking-Galar that would otherwise hard-wall Eternatus, although the pair will still struggle with the likes of Gyaradosite Toxapex. Knock Off Kartana is also very helpful, as it can readily lure in Ho-Oh and remove its Heavy-duty Boots with Knock Off and thereby allow Spectrier to sweep.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Gyaradosite Spectrier with Taunt, Will-o-Wisp and Hex is an option to bypass Sablenite Blissey and Gyaradosite, who otherwise hard walls Spectrier, but the loss in power and speed is very noticeable. Glalitite or Gardevoirite may be used to better take on the likes of Ampharosite Blissey and Mandibuzz with -ate boosted supereffective attacks, but the drop in power means that it can often be incidentally checked by other Pokemon on many teams.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Blissey**: Between its normal typing and extremely large special bulk, Blissey can shrug off almost everything Spectrier can throw at it. Even a boosted Dark Pulse does not do particularly exceptional damage, leaving Sablenite Blissey free to Heal Bell, recover health with Softboiled, spread Toxic, or simply Teleport out to gain momentum. Ampharosite sets take a bit more damage and can be prevented from recovering with Taunt, but they typically run Shadow Ball to KO Spectrier regardless.

**Ho-Oh**: Ho-Oh has phenomenal special bulk and isn't weak to any of Spectrier's moves, making it difficult to handle. Thanks to Regenerator and Heavy-Duty Boots, it's extraordinarily hard for Spectrier to wear down, and while defensive sets can run into issue should they switch into a Nasty Plot, they often run Whirlwind to force Spectrier into a 50-50 regardless and in a worst-case scenario can simply switch out to a sacrificial Pokemon to regain enough health to take it on.

**Dark-type Pokemon**:Bulky Dark-type Pokemon such as Gyaradosite Toxapex, Mandibuzz, and the occasional Yveltal are a serious issue for Spectrier. They resist all of its common attacks, and even without investment they can do serious damage with supereffective Dark-type STAB moves.

**Extreme Speed Users**: While Spectrier is bulky enough to take a single hit from any Extreme Speed user not named Genesect, only a little bit of chip damage is required to change that, which can be difficult to completely avoid. Thanks to its +2 priority, it allows even slower pokemon to revenge kill Spectrier safely, and is a common appearance on many teams.

**Fast Offensive Pokemon**: Spectrier has an excellent speed tier, but a few Pokemon such as Zeraora and Pheromosa can still outspeed it, and are capable of taking it down after a bit of chip damage - damage they can themselves provide by using U-Turn and Volt Switch, if they have to.

Lucarionite Spectrier is one of the most potent wallbreakers in Mix and Mega, with a blisteringly high speed and the ability to fire off powerful Shadow Balls. Most Pokemon cannot take even a single hit, and those that can rarely OHKO back (feel like this sentence could be misinterpreted as most offensive mons-entei/zera/dnite/terrakion etc can actually live a hit and either OHKO or have a roll to ohko so changing this to either "with decent chip most pokemon.." or wording it entirely different by saying most pokemon don't want to/cant switch in would be better imo), granting it no shortage of opportunities to power up yet further with Nasty Plot. Hex may be run alongside Toxic or Will-o-Wisp in the last two slots to allow Spectrier to bypass Ho-Oh or Gyaradosite Toxapex more easily, but is generally inferior.(feel like this set is way more relevant to the gyaradosite set so ig this should be talked about in the other options para) Maximum Speed investment and a Timid nature allows Spectrier to outpace nearly the entire unboosted metagame, including powerful offensive threats like Metagrossite Kartana, Zacian, and Salamencite Noivern.
(also talk about sub here)

Gyaradosite Spectrier with Will-o-Wisp and Hex in its last two slot is an option to bypass Sablenite Blissey and Gyaradosite Toxapex , who otherwise hard walls Spectrier and can freely pivot out with Teleport to gain momentum, but the loss in power and speed is very noticeable. Glalitite or Gardevoirite may be used to better take on the likes of Ampharosite Blissey and Mandibuzz with -ate boosted supereffective attacks, but the drop in power means that it can often be incidentally checked by other Pokemon on many teams. The spread is trivial and does not need explanation, so I believe that the structure does not need to be followed here.

Consider mentioning Manectite Spectrier as an alternative option, but add that this set mostly has competition with Lunala.

Tyranitarite users (mostly Rhyperior) are worth a mention somewhere here, although it may be worth compressing this into a section about special tanks anyway

**Dark-type Pokemon**:Bulky Dark-type Pokemon such as Gyaradosite Toxapex, Mandibuzz, and the occasional Yveltal Tyranitar are a serious issue for Spectrier. They resist all of its common attacks, and even without investment they can do serious damage with supereffective Dark-type STAB moves. I don't think Yveltal has been seen in months. We have a few Tyranitar uses so I believe this is at least worth putting down

**Extreme Speed Users**: While Spectrier is bulky enough to take a single hit from any Extreme Speed user not named Genesect, only a little bit of chip damage is required to change that, which can be difficult to completely avoid.
