[SET]
Booster Energy (Speed) (Walking Wake) @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 4 HP / 60 Def / 192 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Draco Meteor
- Chilling Water
- Hurricane / Flamethrower
[SET COMMENTS]
* With a Speed boost, Walking Wake is able to catch faster Dragon-types like Dragapult and Choice Scarf Haxorus off guard. Notably, it also has a strong matchup into Iron Valiant, which is an extremely common and powerful partner with many Pokemon that Walking Wake handily wins against, such as Volcanion and Ursaluna.
* Hydro Pump scores crucial KOs against Assault Vest Ursaluna and Spectrier. As this set lacks a damage-boosting item, the power of Draco Meteor against Dragon-types makes it necessary over other options.
* Chilling Water is crucial against Ursaluna. It also allows Walking Wake to safely chip Chien-Pao, Meowscarada and Urshifu-R into range of one of its STAB moves.
* Hurricane is threatening to Iron Valiant and Urshifu-S. While favored against most sets, Walking Wake will still lose to faster Spirit Break variants of the former and Assault Vest sets of the latter.
* Running Flamethrower stifles Walking Wake's anti-meta traits but does increase its general consistency, providing a clean 3HKO against Assault Vest Metagross.
* The EVs are meant to survive an Adamant Choice Band Ursaluna Giga Impact after Chilling Water. It also survives -1 Earthquake into -2 Giga Impact from Assault Vest Ursaluna.
* Because of Hurricane's flimsy accuracy and losing matchups, it is highly suggested to not run Walking Wake as the only answer to Iron Valiant and both formes of Urshifu. Fairy-types such as Sylveon and Alolan Ninetales counter these Pokemon while taking advantage of Walking Wake's reliable coverage of Fire-types.
* This Walking Wake set is ineffective against most Pokemon that rely on bulk, such as Corviknight, Cresselia, and Pecharunt. Special Attack Booster Energy Iron Crown is able to muscle past these threats while matching up well into Primarina, Walking Wake's most prevalent counter.
