As Purple Boss prepares for the toxins to take out Murena, the platform spins again, throwing both Pokemon back into the pit! Purple Boss winces slightly as the spikes pierce him even through his intangible state, and Murena is simply knocked unconscious.

Sol blasts a patch of ground up and hits Purple Boss hard, but the real sucker here is that Purple Boss' resilience to these types of attacks goes down a bit! To make matters worse, the spikes dig into Purple Boss again, dealing even more damage!
While Purple Boss gets up out of the pit, Sol blasts the ground underneath the Gengar again, dealing heavy damage and lowering his Special Defense again! Purple Boss shakes off the blows and sprays toxins all over the Sunflora, poisoning her, but she retaliates with an even bigger ground burst, causing Purple Boss to... blast off again. But what's that? It seems that the attack lowered Purple Boss' Special Defense as well! Talk about overkill.
