hai, these are all of the teams I used over the course of this most recent spl (weeks 1-8, and will update after the tourney ends). I was scrolling through other forums looking for the "creative sets thread"/"post tour dump" threads, but only really found a good load of them in doubles :(

so, since i found myself with some free time (and only now ,_,), i made my own! hopefully some of the other OU players who see this are inspired to post a dump as well :) always a good read
big big thanks to ayevon for doing the images for me

also last minute fun fact, as of week 9, i have a 100% winrate with my own teams and 0% when borrowing one :O

i actually didn't build this team, not sure what happened between the three weeks i shouldve used to have a team ready, but i ended up overstressing the night before and having to use a team my boy psychicmewtwo gave me last minute. i changed it around a bit, from m-gyara to z-move, scarf latias to mega latias, and whatever lando set was originally there into scarf. i also changed the order up to try and bluff m-gyara and scarf latias (as people generally lead off with their megas when building). it's a pretty basic bulky offense fwg + mega/sweeper/pivot (s/os undisputed for making the formula) which is a little too reliant on gyarados to sweep, and honestly is the one team i regret using this whole tournament. it's not a bad team, but it's not my style really and is a little too passive (will not be in a good MU vs a lot of offenses if you cant get gyara to sweep).

i had a revelation sometime shortly after week 1 ended that chansey offense was the best team style and i wanted to use it. i put together a team where i have 3 "semi-sweepers"(?) which benefit from the backup option of hwish chansey + double pivot (because kart and lele hit hard af). the mlatias spread gives a really good chance to 2hko ttar with hp fighting on the switch, and guarantee 2hko with rocks up. i had a feeling that john would want to bring cbtar as most of my snake teams were generally weak to it, but didnt end up happening. the basic idea is pretty good in that you just break through teams with lele+kart, blanket check stuff with zap/chansey/lando, and clean with mlatias.

week 3 i made the repeat mistake of not spending enough time prepping, and had to rely on my boy Will of Fire 's team. knock off mzam + trick room mag + ash gren in theory just overwhelm most teams, while the other 3 mons are just defensive support. in my game against empo, i found myself in a pretty tough MU between the mamo+mega pinsir, and I ended up calling him on his misplay turn2 when he volt'd into mamo, but unfortunately missed (had an 80% roll to kill ;_;) and pretty much just got steamrolled through the rest of the game, as im just too pinsir weak + i couldnt keep rocks off with the mamo at full and my defogger being lando.

my week 5 team vs p2 was the last of the teams that I didn't build myself, and it was actually made by my boy ADVANTAGE , who showed me the 6 with some bad sets and asked me if i could make it viable. after some magic, it turned into one of my favorite teams to play with, and i've still only ever lost 2 games with it out of like 20-25 played (too bad one of them was for spl ;_;). it borrows the same rock z lando+sweeper idea from the last team, but with better support all around, because a well supported pinsir is just incredibly hard to stop. unfortunately, i found myself in one of the worst MUs i've ever had to play, and just got mollywhopped by 4 attack protean gren, which breaks through my 2 special walls, on top of a z-move kommo-o and a pursuiter for my scarfed revenge killer.

i came to the conclusion that i was becoming quite predictable in my builds, all some generic variation of bulky offense with a different sweeper attached to the front, and wanted to change it up so i wouldnt find myself in another devastating MU like week 5. ultimately, i found myself in a stall vs stall game, which gondra and I agreed to tie (there were ways to open up the game and go for a win, but it also left me vulnerable to losing so i opted for a tie instead). buzzwole on stall is really cool because you hard stop some of the more "lazy" breakers like Kart, sd bulu, and all zygarde variants. it also gives me a late game wincon and extra reliable way to 1v1 sd scizor. i went with relaxed because too many times in tests, scizors would come in and uturn on me into lele/magearna/whatever and i just got forced out, and i can definitely say underspeeding uturn is the way to go. i added curse quag as my 2nd wincon as it basically does the same thing as buzzwole while beating different things out 1v1. i chose to use mean look/pp stall sableye to compliment these 2, because being able to trap pex (denies my cursers), tran (bugs the whole team as it does to a lot of stalls), and just other things that may be obnoxious to play against like amoonguss or venu. the only other thing worth mentioning is the magearna set (which Eo Ut Mortus came up with), which is a reliable lele+clef answer that wont be rocks weak. wish chansey works well because i often have to keep it healed up, and chansey is always healing to 100% with its wishes.

taking the tie in the first game ended up being one of the best things i could've done, as the game that followed was one of my favorite games ive ever played. i actually made a rough version of this team sometime last spring, with gengar>koko and all of the sets were different (pre-defog tornt). the idea is trap shit (mainly pex) with magma tran and overrun my opponent with koko+cune+tornt. the tornt set is good because being able to spam knock off and have a reliable defogger makes games a lot easier for cune, as it draws in things like avs from magearna and bsludge from pex (forces pex to recover when burned by cune). i didnt feel a need for uturn with this team really, so i went with superpower +80 attack just to be able to avoid being trapped by ttar if it came to that. suicune is very underprepared for generally, and just with the rest of the mons to remove the few suicune answers that actually are in the tier, it becomes so incredibly hard to stop for almost all teams. this is probably my favorite team i made this spl.

for week 8, i went back to my favorite style of bulky fwg offense, *utilizing* the op undisputed formula of f/w/g/pivot/mega or fill/sweeper, and utilized some double grass op offense. poek asked me to play monday-wednesday, so i had a strong feeling i'd be facing some sort of cheese (if hes only taking a day or two to prep), so i made sure to consider both rain and stall specifically when putting the pieces together. this bulu set is fantastic, as you still take on things like koko/ash gren well (i had a 35% chance to die from that gunk even if it had hit stop calling me never unlucky haxor >_<), while being a fantastic late game wincon. it also breaks well for kartana and vice-versa, making the pair quite strong. the toxapex set is my method at beating hawlucha pretty comfortably (might have to use lando too) as well as volcarona. being able to put a timer onto lele or mlatios is also really useful on this team, as heatran isnt a good lele switch-in and the team is just a tad weak to mlatios. i went with hp fire latios > draco because i wanted a way to revenge bulu and lure scizor for my double grass, even if it seems redundant with a heatran and a pex (even tho pex is walled by scizor lel). this is another one of the teams i enjoy using the most, mainly because its so easy and just so good.

thanks for reading :), I'm going to update this with teams that I use in playoffs (hopefully 2 more wins and not just 1!!!). if you end up seeing anything you like using anything here in tournaments like ost/smogtour, please post replays in this thread, i'd like to watch them

my only other individual shoutouts besides ayevon are Ciele , Eo Ut Mortus , and BHARATH_THEBEST for always always always being there to bounce ideas / review teams and what not.

also, lazy creative set dump too (not from the above teams)

For my next game, I was really unsure about what to use. i was panicking all the night before, not trusting my judgment on the team i had planned, worried about stall etc., so i wanted to go with something that could give me a really safe MU in the event of being stalled or rained. the idea of this team is really awesome; double trappers + double calm minders. generally speaking, its very hard to stop mlatias and clefable from CM sweeping in the first place, but actually unstoppable when you pair it with heatran (pex, chansey, get free turns on steels like magearna/cele) and ttar (heatran mainly but getting chip onto everything is great, including things like sableye or chansey). I went with wisp tran to be able to lure ttar and allow latias to sweep through, and it ended up proving vital in my game though not for this reason. koko/tang are good fillers because koko is easily able to get off big hits and defog if needed, and tangrowth is just a catch all check to greninja, zygarde, and other koko, and i dont have to worry about keeping it more preserved (like a bulu/ferro) because of regen, even if i lose out on offensive pressure. overall this team is really great IMO, the only major downside is a lack of a volt switch immune, but that isnt taking too much away from the principle of this team.

for my next game, i was against an opponent who had literally (bar like 3 stour games) no track record in sm ou, and I had to go in completely blind. people were giving my ideas that my opponent was generally more leaning towards defensive builds with things like magearna/celesteela etc, so i went out of my usual comfort zone and tried out kyub, a mon i frankly dislike. i went back to the old offensive core of z-move lure breaker + aorb kart, but unfortunately wasnt able to show off the kart this time. chansey is a catch-all sponge for gren/koko/magearna (mag in particular was something that dice/rey were saying his team would likely push on him), which is why i used it over a more spongy grass like tang. i went with wish because i liked the idea of wish + 4 attack z kyub, cuz z kyub is often forced to run roost > earth power which is just lame. zone came next because being able to trap things like scizor/ferro is obviously great with kyub and kart, and it was an on-paper way to beat celesteela, which is generally tricky for the whole team (as seen in the replay). latios-mega and scarf lando were fillers because of how they fit defensively / pressured offensively in tandem with my 2 main breakers. i had punishment on lando and defog on latios because i was just way too afraid of reuniclus / cm mlatias, which i needed an out versus. punishment as my go-to anti measure actually worked surprisingly well in tests so i rolled with it in the 4th slot. the last thing worth mentioning is that i dropped sword on kart for smart strike because its more important for me to pressure clefable directly (chansey loses 1v1) and it just does the most damage to amoong/venu/magearna/bulu, so it felt like the right 3rd attack.

Thanks for reading again, still a little bummed I couldn't clutch my last game when my team needed me most, but there really was just nothing for me to do vs that weakness policy zygarde without having risked losing to other sets (iapapa/z-move if i eq'd instead).

Well, I'm not sure I should be posting here but, in the description of your team against -Tsunami-, you speak about the ability of koko to uturn in to trappers, but you're not running it so I was wondering I their was a mistake or if I misunderstood your point.
