I admittedly didn't listen to a ton of music this year (15k minutes) but I also wasn't paying much attention to my stats, so the results surprised me a good amount. Very happy Asobi Seksu is still high up for me, and pleasantly surprised Little House of Savages cracked my Top 5!
Also glad to see some amount of Joanna Wang rep. I guess in hindsight, Hotel La Rut really is my album of the year after all (says the guy who has had it as his avy for many months)
Unfortunately, my Spotify wrapped is super skewed by what music my group uses for Dungeons and Dragons (which is Skyrim’s music done by Jeremy Soule)… though that really just goes to show how much we’ve played this year!
Outside of that outlier, I’m extremely surprised to see Serafin breaking out into my top 5, let alone also taking my top song of the year. I “rediscovered” them this year (I listened to them a lot in high school, stopped, then came back to them now). No surprises on the other 3 though. Fruit Bats has been a big discovery for me this year, while Tame Impala and X are perennially in my top 5. However, I’m pretty sure this is my first year ever where The Beatles did not get into the top 5. Taste is ever-changing!
Been a really big music year for me tbh, got introduced to tons of new artists through friends, which is why In This Moment isn't higher, despite GODMODE being my favorite album of all time. Special shoutouts go to ABR and Sabella for introducing me to Pendulum (which makes up more than half of my total listen time this year) and PVRIS (of which BURN THE WITCH is easily 90% of my PVRIS listen time), respectively.
Well there's pretty much one throughline in my Spotify Wrapped 2024, and that's that it was K-Pop through and through.
I guess this is my way of outing myself as a K-Pop listener and K-Pop fan, and listening to lots of modern K-Pop groups. Though I'm also Korean myself so I guess I have an excuse. NMIXX being in my Top 5 is a pleasant though, they're kind of the dark horse among the 5 that I listened to most according to my Wrapped. NewJeans, aespa, and IVE are pretty popular and among the most popular 4th Gen girl groups and Stray Kids has been killing it among the boy bands and their music is always a treat to listen to.

now i wait patiently for the new inaba song to come to streaming
