Randbats Spotlight Tournament
Welcome to the twelfth bimonthly Spotlight Tour! This iteration will feature the recently elected Gen 7 Apex Abilities format. This tournament is your chance to showcase your skills in Gen 7 Apex Abilities in a single elimination best-of-3 series.
What is Gen 7 Apex Abilities?
Here in the randbats community we like to create extreme versions of some standard formats from time to time, and Gen 7 with powerful abilities is the latest example of that. In this variant of Sun and Moon, the pokemon will get only strong abilities, randomly selected from a restricted pool created by us. If you have ever dreamed of getting Huge Power Bibarel or Tinted Lens Sunflora and plow through the competition, this might be the perfect Spotlight for you!
Prizes
The winner of the Spotlight Tournament will receive the Room Prize Winner rank in the Random Battles room for a month and the possibility to pick a format for the next Randbats Spotlight poll!
How does the tour work?
It’s simple:
1. Contact your opponent on their Smogon wall and decide on a time to battle.
2. Battle each other in the format “[Gen 7] Apex Abilities”. This format can be found under 'Randomized Format Spotlight', at the top of the third column. Alternatively, use /challenge [Gen 7] Apex Abilities. You can also run the entire series and keep track of the results of each game with /challenge [Gen 7] Apex Abilities @@@bestof=3
3. The first player to 2 wins advances to the next round.
Note that this tournament will end before the next Randbats Spotlight Ladder commences, i.e., before March 2025. This will determine the pace of the tournament.
Please note:
1. All scheduling attempts MUST be done publicly on Smogon Walls. No other proof of communication will count for act calls regarding scheduling attempts.
2. You MUST post replays of your wins.
