LC Squirtle

[OVERVIEW]
Squirtle's diverse movepool, including support moves such as Fake Out and Rapid Spin, makes it seem appealing, but its lackluster stats hold it back from ever being useful in Little Cup. All of its possible sets are outclassed by other, better Water-types such as Staryu and Corphish, with any niches it has over these Pokemon being small or insignificant. Squirtle is a pretty terrible Pokemon in general and doesn't fit on nearly any team.

[SET]
name: Rapid Spin
move 1: Rapid Spin
move 2: Fake Out
move 3: Waterfall
move 4: Aqua Jet / Ice Punch / Yawn
item: Eviolite
ability: Torrent
nature: Impish
evs: 84 HP / 52 Atk / 156 Def / 84 SpD / 92 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
That being said, Squirtle does have a few niches over other Water-types; it's one of only two Pokemon in LC with access to both Fake Out and Aqua Jet, and it's also bulkier than Staryu, meaning it can avoid a 2HKO from Vullaby's Brave Bird and Pawniard's Knock Off as well as other attacks. Keep in mind that Squirtle is quite weak, so its priority moves won't do much damage. Staryu is still an overall better choice for a spinner due to its access to reliable recovery and its wider array of coverage options.

[OVERVIEW]
Squirtle isn't really a classic noob trap, starter teams are their own beast. This sentence doesn't really fit the tone tbh, please remove it. Specify what exactly is diverse about Squirtle's movepool (the support moves mostly). Replace Tirtouga with Corphish. The last sentence is a bit too positive, make it clear that Squirtle fits on nearly no teams.

[SET]
Do not run Foresight. Not only is it not unique (Kabuto also has access to the move), Squirtle can't really afford the free damage it's going to take on the turn it uses Rapid Spin. Just because it was on last gen's analysis does not mean it's good. Replace it with Yawn, which also serves the purpose of getting ghosts out of the way and is much more generally useful. Fix the way you've written the move slashes, they need a space much like the EVs do.

[SET COMMENTS]
This is too positive. Remove the mentions of Foresight, explain in one sentence that Squirtle's niche is that it's bulkier than Staryu (keeping the examples is ok) and has access to Fake Out and Aqua Jet. Follow up with a sentence about how Squirtle does very little damage with its priority moves and then go into the Staryu fits on more teams due to ...

Good point, I forgot Kabuto got Foresight lol. But yeah, the more I look at this thing the more I wonder why anyone would even use this.

the only thing i can think of that might be better than the current setup is mirror coat, since he lives anything short of a max roll snivy leaf storm or max roll magnemite thunderbolt, but that seems just as suboptimal as everything else since you'll do nothing but trade one for one with another pkmn. (probably a net positive to trade squirtle for anything tho.) if anybody else on qc team supports mirror coat over the current set let's rock it, otherwise it's ok by me
