[OVERVIEW]
Luxray might look appealing to newer players thanks to its great Attack and access to Guts; unfortunately, the lack of a good STAB move and its inability to threaten common physical walls such as Tangela make it outclassed by other physical wallbreakers such as Sawk and Lycanroc-N and other Electric-types like Rotom and Morpeko.
[SET]
name: Wallbreaker
move 1: Facade
move 2: Wild Charge
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Crunch
item: Flame Orb
ability: Guts
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
With its blistering Attack stat boosted further by Guts, Luxray might appear as a strong wallbreaker, able to dish out big amounts of damage with Wild Charge and its burn-boosted Facade. Unfortunately, Luxray is unable to significantly threaten common physical walls like Tangela and Palossand; it relying on Flame Orb also means that it gets worn down quickly by entry hazards and burn damage. Furthermore, it is outclassed by other Electric-types such as Rotom, which is a special attacker and thus can actually threaten the aforementioned physical walls, and Morpeko. Both have a good secondary STAB option, access to pivoting moves, and actual defensive utility.
