Project SS NU Matchmaking: Week 23 - Sirfetch'd

Reserving Indeedee

indeedee-female.gif

Indeedee-F (F) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Hyper Voice
- Mystical Fire
- Psyshock

Sawk and Indeedee have amazing offensive synergy together. While physical walls like Cofagrigus would normally stuff any of Sawk's attempts to break through them, Indeedee has no trouble piercing their defenses via its strong special STABs. In return, Sawk breaks through Psychic- and Normal-resistant walls like Ferroseed and specially defensive Togedemaru and can also smash Dark-types with a super effective Close Combat. Overall, these two form a devastating offensive core, destroying each other's checks and counters to create a truly terrifying duo.

Reserving skuntank

:ss/Skuntank:
Skuntank @ Black Sludge / Life Orb
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot / Toxic
- Dark Pulse
- Sludge Bomb
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower

One ability a good Sawk partner should have is beating its arch nemesis, Cofagrigus. Skuntank is really good at this job (Ghost types in generell); it doesn't care about Will-O-Wisp since it is a special attacker, isn't hit super effectively by Body Press and hits Cofagrigus on its "weaker" special side. Additionally it can come in on Psychic types that would threaten Sawk by coming in on Close Combat. Skuntank also pressures, at least offensively, other common switchins like Fairy types and Poison types that resist Close Combat.
In return Sawk helps dealing with Steel types and special walls that Skuntank tend to struggle with.

darkvally

:ss/Silvally-Dark:
Silvally-Dark @ Dark Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- Psychic Fangs
- U-turn

:silvally-dark: & :Sawk:

Darkvally makes for an excellent teammate for Sawk as it can check e plethora of pokémon in the NU-Tier such as Hattrem, Indeedee-F and the
not so common Musharna. Furthermore it can help against ghost-type pokémon, which can be troublesome for Sawk such as
Froslass and especially Drifblim and Cofagrigus and also Garbodor with its move-option in Psychic Fang.
It can also bring Sawk in with a U-turn thus Sawk is able to threaten a large potion of the NU-Tier with its strong move-options.
Sawk on the other hand can help against pokémon, which might cause trouble for Silvally-Dark such as Skuntank, Alcremie and Clefairy as
it has the moves to threaten Skuntank with Earthquake and Poison Jab to hit Alcremie and Clefairy. Darkvally can also bring in
Sawk with its U-turn on Shiinotic therefore Shiinotic gets threatend with eitehr Ice Punch or Poison Jab.
In overall Sawk appreciates a teammate which can switch into the many mons, which threaten Sawk such as psychic- and ghost-types and
the ability that Darkvally weakens the mons in the long-term for Sawks late-game-cleaning abilities and speed-control.

Wishiwashi-School @ Leftovers
Ability: Schooling
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake / Toxic
- U-turn
- Protect
Sawk struggles to break through a lot of physically defensive mons such as Garbodor, Cofagrigus, and Sanaconda. Wishiwashi can beat most of those 1v1 and can make them tempted to wear it down in exchange for taking damage for a scarf close combat sweep from Sawk for example. Wishiwashi can chip away at Eldegoss with toxic damage, as well as Alcremie, both of which can be annoying for Sawk to break through. With some hazard support in the other slots of your team, this combo can do very well :D

Stunfisk-Galar @ Leftovers
Ability: Mimicry
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Yawn / Thunder Wave

:ss/stunfisk-galar:

Nominating stunG as a partner.

Although Sawk is not terribly helpful to Stunfisk defensively, Stunfisk can eat up all that threatens Sawk with resistances to Flying, Psychic and Fairy as well as being able to counter Indeedee with Mimicry. Sawk is usually quite threatening on its own, and so Stunfisk-G can be used in response to the checks and can regain momentum for you through yawn and paralysis.

Klinklang @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shift Gear
- Gear Grind
- Wild Charge
- Substitute

Klinklang is one of those Mons that you may not see often but can put in some work. Sawk's biggest threats are Alcremie and Femdeedee, none of which will want to hit a Klinklang after 1 Shift Gear. Klinklang's biggest threats are the Fighting types which usually don't have the room to do something to Sawk.

Garbodor @ Black Sludge
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe
Impish Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Stomping Tantrum
- Toxic
- Spikes

Sawk and Garb do share a Psychic weakness but Garb can switch into the likes of Fairies like Alcremie (Body Press or Mystical Fire) and deal nasty death to them with Gunk Shot, provide Toxic support to wear down foes, or give it Spike support for the same reason.

Oh man, MonkeySniper just passed up Corthius for the lead with 3 weeks left to go in this run. Meanwhile, Katy joins the leaderboard. And now.........

THIS IS A 2X POINTS WEEK!!! I REPEAT, THIS IS A 2X POINTS WEEK!!!

Week 8
The mon that needs some love this time is............

Flapple @ Choice Band
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Grav Apple
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn

Easily one of the most dangerous wallbreakers since coming down from RU. Flapple does have a habit of being blind sometimes with this set due to Hustle, but when it does hit, it hits hard since Band + Hustle is essentially a +2 to Attack. Let's see what you guys partner this up with during this DOUBLE POINTS WEEK!

:ss/Rapidash:
Rapidash @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Swords Dance
- Wild Charge
- High Horsepower / Morning Sun

Rapidash has great offensive synergy with Flapple by taking advantage of Flapple's strong pivoting potential with strong U-turns. Flapple's switchins are pretty limited and one wrong prediction can cause your Eldegoss to fall against Outrage. The safest overall switchins are strong physical walls like Cofagrigus (even tho it isn't even near to be a counter, but Rapidash appreciates the chip damage) and Steel-types like Ferroseed since they resist both STABs and U-turn. Rapidash can easily take advantage of them to set up with Swords Dance or fire of Flare Blitz.
Rapidash in return really appreciates Flapple's ability to threaten out Water-types like Wishiwashi and Quagsire while also being a good iffensive answer to Ground-types that soft check Rapidash like Sandaconda (don't get your Flapple paralyzed!).

silvally-water

:ss/Silvally-water:
Silvally-Water @ Water Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Defog
- Multi-Attack
- Psychic Fangs
- U-turn

:silvally-water: & :flapple:
unlike the other evolution-form appletun needs flappe sturdy ice- and fire-resists so silvally-water is a nice option as it can help to get flapple in
via its move-option in u-turn. silvally-water can also take on fire-type mons via a strong multi-attack and it can kill poison-types as well, which could
be troublesome or threatening for flapple like toxicroak and garbodor with a strong psychich fang.
silvally-water can also defog for flapple, which flapple really appreciates in the long term of the game, as it doesnt want to get worn down by spikes and stealth rocks.
flapple on the other hand can get rid of quagsire and other troublesome pkmn like lanturn and wishiwashi and is able to threaten cofagrigus and drednaw.
flapple is also able to threaten dragon-types with a strong hustle-boosted outrage, in overall these two pkmn appreciate each others ability
to threaten foes for the other and with the help of u-turn they are able to maintain the momentum and watervally helps flapple out with defog.

Wishiwashi @ Leftovers
Ability: Schooling
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Atk / 188 Def / 48 Spe
Relaxed Nature
- Protect
- Earthquake
- Scald
- U-turn

For all of Flapple's sheer power, it has a crippling weakness: Ice-types. More specifically, Piloswine. Often, Piloswine will be able to force Flapple out or stop it from getting onto the field in the first place. Enter Wishiwashi, who can easily take any hit Piloswine throws at it and retaliate back with a highly-damaging Scald. Wishiwashi's utility doesn't end there, though, as it can also provide a slow U-turn to get Flapple into the fray safely. In return, Flapple obliterates targets like Clefairy, who could normally stall Wishiwashi out with Toxic and their recovery.

Silvally-Fire @ Fire Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- Grass Pledge
- Flame Charge

Almost like Rapidash except no way to wear those nifty Boots. However, that doesn't mean it can't do its job in dealing with Steels that Flapple can't hit and would rather not get stuck in Outrage against. It can also work as Fairy check should it need to be there for Flapple. Not to mention, it can beat the Ice types that just destroy the apple worm with wings.
