Hello everyone!

1618184812977.png

I think standard physical pivot zera is a great partner for this particular melmetal set. As Finch said, Chomp and Lando need to be chipped, and these are two Pokemon that always come into Zera. Zera can toxic them, hence rendering their ability to reliably check melmetal. In case you run into rest chomp, that still gives you a free switch. Moreover, zera can chip phys def ferrothorn with close combat, which would put it in range of superpower from melmetal.
Here's the set
Zeraora @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Plasma Fists
- - Toxic
- Volt Switch
- - Close Combat/knock off
As said before, cc is there mostly for ferrothorn, but it is replacable with knock, which gives it general utility, way to revenge pult, while removing lefties from chomp or Lando, you can still just volt switch on ferrothorn. Moreover, it naturally pressures waters like pex, slows etc. which wall melmetal, and can switch into zapdos stabs safely, even blocking volt switch. It also pressures corv and skarm, 2 prevalent melmetal checks. Rillaboom can also be found sometimes switching into or trying to revenge kill zera, which gives you a free melm switch on glide,as well as valuable recovery.
Another point in CC's favour, is that in conjunction with superpower,it helps bring down the new Zamazenta Crowned, which is often seen on stall builds that this core might struggle against. Here are some calcs.
252 Atk Zeraora Close Combat vs. +1 252 HP / 20+ Def Zamazenta-Crowned: 102-122 (26.2 - 31.4%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ Atk Melmetal Superpower vs. +1 252 HP / 20+ Def Zamazenta-Crowned: 136-160 (35 - 41.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Melmetal Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 184-218 (52.2 - 61.9%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Zeraora Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 142-168 (40.3 - 47.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Hope y'all have an amazing day,and until next time, Goodbye !

flamethrower helps it deal with other steels that superpower cant hurt. Looking into the future is helps the melmetal get a much easier kill 2 into the future. eq is good for covering tran since it can live 2 hits and a little amount of chip can put it in magma range, sludge bomb is for, umm, you know, just for stab ig.

Pretty boring pick, but it's phenomenal alongside Finchinator's Melmetal set. From a defensive standpoint, Landorus-T covers Ground and Fighting type attacks and Melmetal covers Ice, which leaves Fire (basically only Heatran, which Landorus-T outspeeds unless it's Timid and OHKOs with Earthquake) and Water (Slowking has already been listed and it's an amazing partner and takes on both of these weaknesses).

These two also sinergyze well when making progress. Landorus-T can put Ground types on a timer with Toxic and appreciates this Melmetal's ability to pressure metal birds. U-turn and Toxic are the main moves I put in, U-turn because momentum is always appreciated and Toxic due to the aforementioned reasons. Knock Off is a valid alternative to U-turn, because it removes items from metal birds, Ground types and Ferrothorn, which Melmetal greatly appreciates. These two also happen to effectively spread status on the opposing teams, which greatly helps with Hex Dragapult (whether it's Specs or Sub or HBD), another phenomenal teammate that's already been listed. Dragapult also resists Water and Fire and has all of its Dragon related weaknesses covered by Melmetal.

Hello there :afrostar:

Really cool submissions!!
Time to vote,

The voting system used is the Ranked Pairs format (the same as CAP uses). To vote you basically order your options like this: C>B>A>D, like this A>B=C>D, or like this D>C, assuming there are 4 partner options (A, B, C, and D). If you choose not to vote for all partners, the last partner(s) will be assumed to be last and valued equally if more than one got left out. Additionally, don't vote for your own submission. If you have any questions, by all means, ask me.

Banned deucer.
Hello there, voting period is over!!
But there is currently a tie between the two Slowkings and because of that my co-host Abhi would like to log in his own vote to break the tie.
B>E>C>D>A=F
Time to count the votes.
B>F=C=E>A=D
B>C=A>E>D=F
E>A>C=B>F=D
C=E>D>B>F=A
B>E>C>D>A=F

Now if we put these votes here, we can see who the winner for the second slot is.
And the winner is.....

You have 72 hours to submit good teammates to this duo.

This again. It actually works well with those two, provides SR, ground and electric immunities, another fight resist to relief pressure on Slowking (which already has to deal with fire types, water types and nidoking/lele) and a Zamazenta check, all in one slot. You know Lando-T is a good mon and it slots quite nicely in this core.
Melmetal has TWave - Slowking has Scald - Landorus-T has Toxic... you know what I'm thinking for the next mon.

Hullo again everyone!!
The first 2 slots have been bangers, here's my suggestion for a third.

1618666449751.png
(don't even need to show my face to look cool ha)

This is more of a partner to slowking than melmetal, but it helps the big guy too by providing another fire resist. Melm can, in return, switch in on grass, psychic, fairy, flying types and threaten them with its powerful attacks.
Now I'll acknowledge the real reason Urshifu is here - Future sight + Urshifu Rapid is broken. Simple as that. To go in depth, some of the best urshifu answers like toxapex and amoongus, get destroyed by future sight. Others that can take it, like the slow twins, get u-turned on. Perhaps the only reliable answer to this is tapu fini, which is a free switch to melm, as scald can't burn in misty terrain.
Urshifu also patches up the duo's weakness to volcarona , who takes a bunch from aqua jet.
Urshifu also appreciates melmetal's ability to 1v1 the birds, especially corvinight, for it can pressure stall urshifu's low pp stabs. Urshifu also pressures kyurem, which does well against the duo. Urshifu can weaken tank chomp looking to kill it with chip, which would put it in easy range of melmetal. Urshifu could also force damage on zapdos, which walls melmetal. The team was in need of a breaker , and this is one of the best ones.

Thunder punch is also an option over jet, which vastly improves the fini matchup, as well as slowbro. Here are some calcs worth knowing -

252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Tapu Fini: 101-119 (29.3 - 34.5%) -- 77% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
(Factoring this in with future sight and hazard chip, it can help you break fini).

252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Aqua Jet vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Volcarona: 276-326 (73.9 - 87.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO.

252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight on a critical hit: 198-234 (49.5 - 58.5%) -- approx. 57% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 40 HP / 104 SpD Melmetal: 530-624 (125.8 - 148.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 96+ SpD Slowking: 288-342 (73 - 86.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Surging Strikes (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 200 Def Garchomp on a critical hit: 237-282 (56.4 - 67.1%) -- approx. 2HKO
(it does a lot but it takes a lot in return so it could be a fair trade for the opponent)

252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 192+ Def Tapu Fini: 170-200 (49.4 - 58.1%) -- 64.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 166-196 (42.1 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

That's all I have for now. Until next time, goodbye, and have a great day!!

Team struggles very hard vs zapdos, koko, regieleki, and zeraora. In comes garchomp, it can scare all of them out with stone edge and choice locked tapu koko which otherwise is a free switch for melmetal to come into a dazzling gleam. It gives the team move speed so it is not on the back foot against pokemon such as Hydreigon, Tapu Lele, and Nidoking. Garchomp appreciates the ice resistance that slowking and melmetal from Pokemon such as kyurem and weavile, alongside the dragon resistance against pokemon such as Dragapult, Lati twins, and Hydreigon. Garchomp also provides breaking power with SD and edge quake coverage backed up by future sight slowking to assist it even further against Pokemon such as skarmory, clefable, hippowdown.

Asked Abhisdn417 permission for different set to be submitted compared to the sub hex physical Dragapult, Specs Dragapult serves as a threatening special attacker which can break past through majority of team that aren't fully prepared for it and the lack of ghost resist in the tier. For the few ghost switch that can check do struggle against Melmetal being able to break past through Tyranitar and Blissey easily, and can even spread Thunder Wave crippling them while making them more vulnerable from Specs boosted Hex which Dragapult greatly enjoys mons being crippled from Thunder Wave. Melmetal compliments Dragapult in being brought in safely with U-Turn and handle the Fairy-types that annoy Dragapult, while in return being able to check Slowbro and Zapdos for Melmetal. Slowking compliments Dragapult with slow teleports, Scald burns for more statuses being spread, and being able to check Heatran and Tapu Lele for it.

The main reason why Specs Dragapult works well here is the ability to abuse the statuses that are being spread through Melmetal and Slowking boosting the power of Hex while appreaciting the removal of most it checks that Melmetal can break past through, while Slowking can check things for Dragapult defensively with the bonus addition in making Dragapult and Melmetal's moves even more threatening with Future Sight for there to be lots of pressure.

Landorus-T is already taken so here's the next best Ground-immunity that isn't super passive.

  • Ground immunity
  • Breaker / Win condition to make progress or sweep
  • Regenerator core with Slowking that also appreciates Teleport support
  • Somewhat appreciates Melmetal spreading Paralysis and catching out certain Steel-types depending on which Torn set you use.
  • Soft check to Fighting-types (like the ones that annoy Slowking)

What do you think pairs well with this trio?
Deadline is 72 Hours, Happy Posting!

Right now, the team is looking really good!! Although there are some issues obviously, one of them being - wallbreaking. Sure, specs pult is decent, but there's just so much you can do with a 100 spatk, not even modest. Hence my suggestion for the 4th team member is
1619272073137.png

Kyurem @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Draco Meteor /Earth Power
- Focus Blast/Earth Power

In my eyes, this thing has 0 switch-ins in ou. The absolute best wallbreaker. The ultimate dino monster. Ice is really good in this meta offensively, and kyurem exploits that to the fullest with it's perfect coverage in moves like freeze dry pressuring pex, fini, slowking, swampert, gastrodon,rotom-wash, basically bulky waters in general. Next is focus miss blast, which gives it coverage on Blissey and Chansey, while nuking heatran, melmetal, ferrothorn etc. More options are earth power , which reliably kills heatran , melm without risking a miss. It also gives it coverage on niche but existing mons like Aegislash and Jirachi, with the former becoming better if Zamazenta stays in the tier. Hell, I'll even go ahead and say it doesn't need Draco, just because of how spammable ice beam is with this bonkers coverage, but I'll let it pass for now I guess.
Perhaps most importantly, Kyurem forms a double dragon core with Dragapult, which means they together pressure dragon resists/immunities like Clefable, ferrothorn, corviknight, fini etc. Another thing is that they're both special attackers, hence both pressure special walls like blissey, glowking etc.
Dragapult can u turn on its checks like mandi, spdef heatran, etc and bring in Kyurem , who will get a kill guaranteed if predicted correctly. It's high hp stat allows it to swich into zapdos, zeraora (bar cc)which do well against this team.
I have to admit tho, rn this team doesn't have the best defence,so that could be considered as well.
That's it , have fun, have a good day, and stay healthy (not looking at Abh):psysly:

We need a ground immune Pokémon. Landorus-t is the perfect fit for the team since it checks Pokémon that are a very big threat to the team such as garchomp, landorus-t, excadrill, and zeraora. It provides the team with knock off which helps the team's breakers in weakening pokemon such as mandibuzz, toxapex, clefable, etc. Stealth rocks do not need an explanation and give chip to any pokemon which makes them easier to wear down. This is defensive landorus-t to help check pokemon better and this team has enough speed control and breaking power so it can afford to be more passive

:ss/tapu lele: :choice specs:

This team definitely needs a powerful special breaker, and I believe Tapu Lele would be a great fit to this team. Tapu Lele’s huge SpA stat and good Speed stat, wide movepool, and ability to brainlessly click Psychic and Moonblast repeatedly, would make it a great addition to this team. Tapu Lele also checks common Dark-types like Bisharp, (on the switch-in or SD) Hydreigon, and Mandibuzz, who are huge threats to the team if not dealt with properly.
Tapu Lele also synergizes very well with all the aforementioned team members. Tapu Lele has trouble breaking through SpDef walls like Blissey and CM Clef, and Melmetal easily checks these mons. Melmetal struggles with steels like Corviknight and Heatran, who Tapu Lele could hit with either Thunderbolt and Focus Blast (don’t miss) respectively. Tapu Lele also appreciates Slowing’s Future Sight, which provides extra damage on non-dark types, and Teleport, which brings Tapu Lele in safely.
Additionally, Tapu Lele’s Psychic Terrain negates priority moves, such as Azumarill’s Aqua Jet, Bisharp’s Sucker Punch, and Scizor’s Bullet Punch. This helps Dragapult a lot because priority move users (especially Sucker Punch users) can easily revenge kill Dragapult.

Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
