cracked 3 atks lo clefable

:gs/clefable:

Clefable @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 80 Def / 112 SpA
Quiet Nature
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Knock Off
- Thunder / Thunderbolt

idea is to bluff cm which is a pretty good application on fat sand teams with a spikestacking defensive core or other fat archetypes. this is good information to use especially on more defensive teams which makes the lure effective, as galarking is one of the best switch-ins to clefable and will always be free.

Whirlpool Glowking

Mantra (Slowking-Galar) (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 164 SpA / 44 SpD / 48 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Whirlpool

- Flamethrower
- Sludge Bomb

This set was originally optimized by my buddy sz to trap opposing toxapex. But it works wonders against opposing glowking as well providing they don’t have earthquake.

176 SpA Slowking-Galar Psychic vs. 252 HP / 80+ SpD Assault Vest Slowking-Galar: 64-76 (16.2 - 19.2%) -- possible 6HKO

With Whirlpool chip, this should be around a 3-4hko if you get any spdef drops. Great set really not that gimmicky, give it a shot!

:ss/magnezone:
Magnezone @ Assault Vest
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 28 Def / 252 SpA / 76 SpD / 152 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flash Cannon
- Discharge
- Mirror Coat
- Volt Switch

I’ve seen AV Mirror Coat Zone mentioned a few times in regard to luring Heatran, so I decided to apply the same concept to luring Glowking. Glowking doesn’t really care about most Zone sets, being able to eat special hits while 4x resisting Body Press, but AV Mirror Coat can take Flamethrower easily and do massive damage back with Mirror Coat. This spread is designed to always take 1 uninvested Heatran Earth Power after rocks, while at the same time having minimum Spdef investment to ensure that Glowking’s Flamethrower does enough that Mirror Coat does as much as possible back. This allows this set to not only lure Glowking, but also bait Heatran as well if at full health. It also traps standard Zone prey like Corv and Skarm. The speed is for faster Corv sets, Spatk is maxed to ensure maximised damage output, the rest is dumped in defense to let Zone handle physical moves better without further increasing its special bulk.

124 SpA Slowking-Galar Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 76 SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 106-126 (37.7 - 44.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 76 SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 220-260 (78.2 - 92.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

(This set is not entirely my own idea, as mentioned, although I have switched up the EV spread to handle Glowking specifically)

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald / Stored Power
- Block
- Calm Mind
- Rest

Might as well get another Slowbrother in here with a hilarious set straight from Gen 7 UU: BlockBro. It lures in Glowking in the same way the others do, but it takes a thematically slower approach by setting up to +6/+6 instead of going straight for the kill - and steamrolling through the rest of Glowking's team when it's done. Rest over Slack Off laughs at Sludge Bomb, Speed creeps Pex to heavily dent or OHKO it (depending on the attacking move chosen) before it can Haze your CMs away.

EDIT: H/T to dunderguy for letting me know it gets Stored Power now.

Glowking is a tank, and I mean really; it takes any special attackers with ease. With Heatran, it is supposed to beat Glowking 1v1, but it can easily Hydro Pump it making it an unfavorable trade. However, with this new Heatran tech, it can punch major holes in teams.

Introducing...
CHOICE BAND HEATRAN

Heatran @ Choice Band
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Heat Crash
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Explosion / Crunch

With a decent Attack stat and hard-hitting physical moves, it can predict Glowking in the switch and nails it with an Earthquake.

252+ Atk Choice Band Heatran Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 12 Def Slowking-Galar: 330-390 (83.7 - 98.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Although it doesn't OHKO, with Stealth Rocks it has a 75% chance to OHKO. And even when Stealth Rocks aren't up, it still forces Glowking out, letting its team finish it off when it switches back in.

This Heatran works as a lure for other pokemon as well, such as Blissey, Tapu Fini, and others with the right move.

252+ Atk Choice Band Heatran Heat Crash (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 454-535 (63.5 - 74.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Heatran Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Tapu Fini: 222-262 (64.5 - 76.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

The fourth move correlates with that your team needs. Explosion is good for a high BP move that does massive damage to mons such as Swampert, while Crunch is good for the other Slowking in the tier.

252+ Atk Choice Band Heatran Explosion vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Swampert: 379-446 (93.8 - 110.3%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Heatran Crunch vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Slowking: 268-316 (68 - 80.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I love this, I seriously might use this, but I'll try it w Stored Power

Physical Tapu Koko
:ss/tapu-koko: :heavy duty boots:
Tapu Koko @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wild Charge
- U-turn
- Brave Bird / Quick Attack / Toxic / Assurance
- Roost
Although Tapu Koko has a much better special movepool, it has a higher physical attack stat. Since Tapu Koko normally runs special moves like Thunderbolt and Dazzling Gleam, this set works as a great lure not only to Glowking, but to other specially defensive tanks like Blissey and AV Tangrowth as well.

252 Atk Tapu Koko Wild Charge vs. 252 HP / 12 Def Slowking-Galar in Electric Terrain: 208-246 (52.7 - 62.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Tapu Koko Assurance vs. 252 HP / 12 Def Slowking-Galar: 284-336 (72 - 85.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock (double power if it switches in and takes SR damage)
252 Atk Tapu Koko U-turn vs. 252 HP / 12 Def Slowking-Galar: 84-99 (21.3 - 25.1%) -- 99.2% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
252 Atk Tapu Koko Wild Charge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey in Electric Terrain: 318-375 (44.5 - 52.5%) -- 21.5% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Tapu Koko Wild Charge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey in Electric Terrain: 318-375 (44.5 - 52.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
252 Atk Tapu Koko Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Tangrowth: 148-176 (36.6 - 43.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Tapu Koko Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 8 Def Tangrowth: 198-234 (49 - 57.9%) -- 96.1% chance to 2HKO
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
252 Atk Tapu Koko Wild Charge vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Corviknight in Electric Terrain: 264-312 (66 - 78%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

INTRODUCING THE LATEST STALL INNOVATION

:sm/tOxapex:
Light Screen Toxapex

Toxapex @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Haze / Toxic
- Scald / Knock Off
- Recover
- Light Screen

Future sight from Slowking-G allows breakers that are walled by Toxapex to get past it.
Some examples: :Weavile: :urshifu-rapid-strike: :Kartana: :Blaziken:

In many cases, people will go Slowking-G and spam future sight everytime pex comes in. This is extremely annoying and one of stall’s biggest problems.

However, by using light screen, not only do you beat Slowking-G on its own, you beat the breakers that come with it because you can just spam recover or toxic them.

Calcs

:Slowking-Galar: Beats Slowking-G no matter what set 176 SpA Slowking-Galar Future Sight vs. 248 HP / 144+ SpD Toxapex through Light Screen: 100-118 (33 - 38.9%) -- 99.5% chance to 3HKO
:Weavile: Beats FS+ Weavile u lose item too 252+ Atk Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 120 Def Toxapex: 105-124 (34.6 - 40.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
:urshifu-rapid-strike: Beats FS+ Urshifu-R 252 Atk Choice Band Urshifu-Rapid-Strike Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 120 Def Toxapex: 93-111 (30.6 - 36.6%) -- 64.2% chance to 3HKO
:kartana:
Allows banded kart to be checked. 252 Atk Choice Band Kartana Leaf Blade vs. 248 HP / 160+ Def Toxapex: 160-189 (52.8 - 62.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
:Rillaboom: easens Corv switching into FS + Rillaboom. 176 SpA Slowking-Galar Future Sight vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Corviknight through Light Screen: 46-55 (11.5 - 13.7%) -- possible 8HKO

Light screen Toxapex is simply amazing. Take this team for example. https://pokepast.es/45c14f5e81a74ba6. This team should beat like every stall team with Pressure + Rocks and FS + Adamant Weavile and Urshifu. But with light screen pex, it just loses. Ask Coolcodename. Screen Pex won in a Trainer Academy tournament against it and a team with LO SD Terrakion.

Conclusion: Light screen Toxapex is a viable and effective way to switch into future sight. It works on stalls, balances, bulky offenses, and semi stalls. ABR used it and other people used it in WCOP.
