Trapper Urshifu is by far the best one of the bunch for me.
I would have loved to vote for Thunder LO Clefable, but without special attack investment the damage is really incosistent, especially when every toxapex run both knock off and haze. I feel like for cm thunder clefable to be reliable, it needs to threaten an ohko to a reasonable threshold, else between knock off and haze it's easy for a bulky team to pp stall those thunders and tbolt is too weak without life orb anyway.

However it isnt impossible, so how do YOU think you can Lure This Threat?

Taunt + Natures Madness Tapu Koko can lure in Ferrothorn with preventing it from using entry hazards like Spikes or Stealth Rock and it prevents it from using Leech Seed, so 1 form of recovery gets shut down to whittle it down in the process with Natures Madness being always able to deal fix damage. This means Ferrothorn will get shut down during the games. Roost allows Tapu Koko to stay healthy and Thunderbolt is its STAB. However, be careful with this set, as Tapu Koko misses out Dazzling Gleam and U-turn to profit from it. But in overall this Tapu Koko can surprise Ferrothorn, as Ferrothorn is one of its best checks in general. Furthermore, this Tapu Koko set allows to whittle down Lando-T, Garchomp, and Hippowdon still, which is nice. It can also shut down other Pokemon with Taunt, like Toxic / Stealth Rock Heatran upon the switch.

Slowbro is an interesting Pokemon with a surprisingly good movepool. As most gen 1 Pokemon, it has access to a wide variety of coverage options and a lot of useful utility moves. Its main niche in SS OU is to act as a physical wall and a very reliable slow pivot thanks to the well-known combo of Regenerator and Teleport. Most Slowbro thus run Slack Off as an extra recovery option alongside with Teleport and Future Sigh. The last move is often Scald because of its burn chances and decent damage. Sometimes, Ice beam or Body Press can be used instead to surprise some threatening breakers like Garchomp, Dragonite, Weavile and Bisharp. However, none of these options threaten much Ferrothorn as even Body Press won’t do impressive damage on it. Thus, most Ferrothorn won’t fear Slowbro whatsoever and will try to benefit from it being on the field to setup a layer of Spike or to Knock Off its Heavy -Duty-Boots as it teleports away.

That’s where the fun part begins cause little do they know that this Slowbro carries Flamethrower and is ready to burn them down. Flamethrower is an interesting coverage option on Slowbro as it threatens most Grass types who may think the can come in safely as well as things like Bisharp and Weavile (even thought all these Pokemon rather not come on a potential burn form Scald). This set benefit from Slowbro excellent movepool and good physical defense to make it a decent wall on both side thanks to the Assault Vest boost and even if it relies on Regenerator to heal itself, it remains not that much passive as it can threaten a lot of threats with its coverage. Even if Flamethrower can’t OHKO Ferrothorn, it will leave it sufficiently low in health to not be a threat anymore (calc is just below). 90% of the time the opponent won’t except Flamethrower at all and will just stay thinking your trying to pivot out without getting Seeded. That’s the main reason why I think Flamethrower Slowbro is an efficient Ferrothorn lure. The Spread used here has the Speed to outspeed Toxapex with enough Defense investment to take a Black Glasses boosted Knock Off from Bisharp as well as a Knock Off from banded Kartana. The rest is put in Spa to improve a bit its damage output.

This is the heat stuff. Specs Bro is a good breaker for two reasons: it has an amazing coverage and people don’t expect it to be a threat and may end up letting die very important mons. Psychic can catch Toxapex (if you got a good roll)

ferrothorn will never not switch into swampert to chip it with its iron barbs, so why not using that against it with a neat focus punch to the face? the move is also facilitated by yawn - much like flip turn. this set will not remove ferrothorn, but it will without fail put it into range for one of its teammates. in matchups without ferrothorn, focus punch can hit corviknight on the switch unlike earthquake, while still working on its roosts (in fact it's the same base power as stab earthquake). swampert will only click flip turn and rocks anyway, especially amongst offensive teams like grass spam which swampert loves. lastly, focus punch will trigger a potential chople berry aimed at other threats like kartana.

Sub bulk up lando can easily 1v1 ferro as u just sub on its leech seed and then start bulking up.The ferro cant break the sub as bulk up will boost its defense and power whip will not break the sub and the best the ferro player can do is spike up then switch out but even then lando will get a very hard hit off to the mon that switched in.This set can also put corv on a very unfavorable situation as because you can just click smack down then click eq or sub or even bulk up.
(This is mostly to troll the opponent really)Defog can used this if u really want to ruin the ferrothorn users day as i mentioned sub+bulk up can 1v1 ferro so the ferro player will most likely switch or prioritise getting up hazards so with defog you can just defog away the hazards.personally i like smack down to catch corv and other flying types but defog is a decent option if u want to.

Ferrothorn is usually a great way to stop Blissey, since it can freely set up spikes against it due to its Toxic immunity, while shrugging off Seismic Toss due to the huge Leech Seed recovery it gets. With Flamethrower, it's a different story. With 76 Sp. Atk investment, Flamethrower will always 2HKO Ferrothorn after Leftovers, denying it its point of entry. You can replace either Seismic Toss or Toxic depending on your preferred method of dealing damage with Blissey.

Seismitoad has been having a successful generation 8 considering its previous lower tier career, our fat frog friend has helped us during the dark times of :dracovish:'s reign-- even after that, since his dad, :swampert-mega: has left for a very long work trip, it has established itself an oddly good pokemon on rain, due to its incredible typing, Swift Swim and decent offenses that sting under the raind as well as access to Stealth rock allowing it to ease pressure off of Ferrothorn, or allowing Rain to have the funny pebbles without having to use Ferrothorn as their steel type.
That being said, Seismitoad is a picky toad, and Swampert has always struggled to get it to eat its veggies- And one thing it just couldn't digest is :Ferrothorn:.
Onions may make you cry due to their water getting into your eyes, but Ferrothorn makes you cry due to its sheer bullshittery-- access to Leech seed, knock off, Iron barbs, spikes and the occasional Thunder wave has been a nuisance for many teams especially since Seismitoad risks dying to its furious Power whips.
Seismitoad spent all night thinking, how could it defeat such a menace? Unable to sleep, he took a walk throughout the town, and stumbled into a shady street.
"I've got what you're looking for" A mysterious voice implied "Follow the source of my voice, and I'll give you what you need."
Desperate, Seismitoad followed orders, entering a back alley... He was met by a :Smeargle:.
"I'll strike a deal with you, I will teach you a technique to beat Ferrothorn-- And you have to take care of it. It has been disrupting my Spore antics and it's pissing me the fuck off. Should you fail, I will send a :Leavanny: hitman to hunt you for the rest of your life."
Nervous, Seismitoad nodded-- singing a contract using Smeargle's tail.
A long night spent training later... Seismitoad found itself against Ferrothorn, despite it barely having any facial features, it looked very smug trust me on this one.
It's Seismitoad's turn to shine, it tightened its focus as Ferrothorn thought it was clever to set up spikes on what it thought would be a forced switch.
And just like that, half of its health is gone, dying to the following Earth power before it could react.

Moral of the story? Vegetables are our enemies, we must punch them to death just like our chubby toad friend.

Even a banded Knock Off from Azumarill will only do 40% max to the Ferro spread listed here, making it a fairly safe switch-in. Superpower is fairly rare nowadays (as is Azu generally) so they probably won't expect it.

The Ferro may be around after your first attack, but it won't be after basically any of your other ones. If that was your opponent's main physical wall, then Aqua Jet is probably going to clean up late game. Bonus points for a Wish passer to heal up the chip damage from Barbs.

One quick side-note: This set functions as a lure once the opponent believes you are a standard offensive Azu. If they are under the impression you are Trapper Azu they may not want to lose their Ferro to Perish Trap.

Crawdaunt is my lure of choice for enemy Ferrothorn while using rain teams. It boasts the strongest Knock Off in the game and no one is switching Ferrothorn out of Crawdaunt. Also, Crawdaunt’s Knock Off is preferable over the 50/50s you find when using something like Urshifu-R to deal with Ferro. Nothing likes taking a knock from Craw…

This can be accomplished by aggressively switching Crawdaunt in on when Ferrothorn hits the field. Ferrothorn seldom uses Body Press or the odd Power Whip on turn 1. Both Crawdaunt sets work, so I’ve included them.

Ferro is usually unfazed by any Dragonite set, with Defensive DD being unable to really break through the durian without multiple boosts and is generally annoyed by Leech Seed and Knock, and offensive sets facing the same issues, with the added 'benefit' of having to play mind games if the opponent has a Weavile or Scarfer in the back. However, Fire Punch lets Nite break through Ferro without much effort while providing a way to take on steel birds and Scizor.

THE MOVES

The moves will allow Koko to trap and beat Ferrothorn. First off mean look. Perma trapping move. Absolutely necessary here. Ferrothorn wont be able to switch. Then we have TAUNT. Taunt forces Ferrothorn to attack us, so it doesn’t get extra pp for its non attacking moves, and so it has to waste its attacking moves. Then we have Roost, our recovery move. Ferrothorn will always be attacking us, so we need a way to heal. And then we have screech. I choose it because it has lots of pps (64) so we can pp stall Ferrothorn once we have it taunted, and it’s non contact so Koko won’t get chipped by iron barbs. Then, once Ferrothorn runs out of pps, it will struggle to death.

Summary
  • NO ONE I mean NO ONE will think you’re using this set, even if you switch Koko into Ferrothorn.
  • Once Ferrothorn gets trapped, it’s dead.
  • Ferrothorn gets pp stalled and taunted to DOOM.

Withdraw is a better move on Koko since it also has 64 pps like screech, but it raises Koko’s defense too so you can beat Ferrothorn even if Koko gets leech seeded.

Defensive Ferrothorn knock off does about 20% to itemless Dhelmise. The Ivs are to reduce gyro ball damage while still outspeeding standard ferro.

Even if this set is known, it still has a lot of utility.

Unlike fire attack lures, it isn’t hindered by rain.

Ferro likes to come in on thundy as because tbolt bounces off and best Thundy can do is focus blast but it as u know focus blast has a very crappy accuracy.But with incinerate it can cleanly 2HKO ferro without having to fear missing and after a Nasty plot boost it will always 1HKO ferro
Here is the calc:+2 252 SpA Thundurus-Therian Incinerate vs. 252 HP / 72+ SpD Ferrothorn: 428-504 (121.5 - 143.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO.

Normally phys def ferro is a great check to scarf lando-t as it takes 38 from its strongest move, Earthquake. With superpower you can easily overwhelm it over 2 turns and make it regret trying to stay in.

252 Atk Landorus-Therian Superpower over 2 turns vs. 252 HP / 184+ Def Ferrothorn: 298-352 (84.6 - 100%) -- 37.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
