if only cinderace could be a check in this weeks voting, a choice banded or life cinderace has a guarenteed okho on max hp spectrier as long as it does not have evs in defense.

But my vote is dragapult as a check, incineroar as a counter.

As for the checks, things got a little tricky. There was a tie between Incineroar and Obstagoon as counters, with 2/7 votes each. SO I did a coin flip.

is a great check to nidoking, as it can come in and when nidoking has no taunt in its arsenal it can easily seismic toss + soft boiled stall nidoking out, otherwise it can use a slow teleport and bring in a dangerous offensive threat in, which threatens nidoking. furthermore blissey tanks nidokings attacks with ease and therefore is a great check to it.​

You can opt for more special defense if its your primary nidoking check but defense > spdef lets it be a better check to chomp, lando-t so it has a more all around purpose.

Earth Power kills after some chip and can just Recover off the dmg.

Boots can be used over Lefties to avoid TSpikes and unnecessary hazard damage. Sticky Hold can be used over Storm Drain for Trick Clef and Mag while absorbing Knock Off. Clear Smog to beat CM Clefable, Volcarona and CM Fini, Toxic to inflict status on Chomp, Torn, Rilla and Kyurem.

It pains me to say this. But as much as Lunatone completely shreds Nidoking like a Toxapex catching an Earth Power, Lunatone sadly is not ranked. You'll have to choose a different pokemon :psysad:

This set is Hasty nature → Flip Turn : but I always take a scald burn on lil'pony ...
Yeah, don't break without Mystic Water (so no boots for pivoting) ; can't play life orb + flip turn,
This set is half break half pivot as keldeo isn't able to break thought all meta (pex total wall it),
So I can use it a way or another depending machup ! Don't know if this set run this meta post-urshi'ban
Those flip-turns damages are same ranges as stealth rocks

Swampert is a fantastic counter to Nidoking on balance, as it can live any hit Nidoking dishes out, kills it back, and preserves momentum through Flip Turn. Protect can be used if you want to heal up as much as possible to counter Nidoking even more consistently, while Toxic can help weaken other mons such as Zapdos and Landours-T. Even better if you use with Grassy Terrain for more health regeneration.

Nidoking is most likely never going for E-power anyways, most of the time its going for Sludge Wave or Flamethrower (unless you have too many steel types) and Swampert can easily switch into these moves. On a proper balance if you play right you only need to switch into swampert 2-3 times at most to regain the momentum.

Nidoking is so damn threatening for sand to face because it can dismantle sand's defensive core with ease. It destroys common mons in that archetype like Tyranitar, Toxapex, Buzzwole, Tangrowth, Ferrothorn, etc; meaning the usual counterplay sand has against it is revenge killing with Excadrill or Dracozolt under sand (120+ LO EQ OHKO Nidoking after one round of rocks).
Excadrill is a good check to Nidoking in general, it can revenge kill it in almost any scenario that doesn't involve Nidoking behind a Sub and with It having Flamethrower in its arsenal. The tech in Air Ballon Excadrill can switch-in if you can predict the Earth Power or Sludge Wave; however it loses 100% if it clicks Sub as you switch-in and it has Flamethrower; nonetheless, if Nidoking has Ice Beam, Air Balloon Excadrill wins even if they Sub on the switch. Also, this set is actually very decent in sand because it can alleviate a bit the fact that the archetype can be weak to Ground-type moves in general.

Ah Slowking the other King of the metagame, how nice of a buff has Teleport and removal of Pursuit SS has gave you. Well Slowking is one of the best answers out there to Nidoking, probably considered it as a hard counter where it is capable of tanking any hit fired by Nidoking and not fearing the 2HKO and recovering the damage with Slack off or switching out and gaining back 33% of it's HP thanks to Regenerator.
Slowking not only has good defensive capabilities but also has potential offensive pressure firing off powerful super effective Scalds very freely or setting up a Future Sight and then using Teleport for a teammate to take advantage of the momentum gained for even more pressure.
Note: Although I put a Calm nature here, Sassy Nature with 0 IVs in Speed allows you to take advantage of slow Teleports and help in a Slowking vs Slowking / Slowbro situation having them teleport out first into a pokemon and then your slowking teleport after into an appropriate answer.
