Entry Submission
: Post your team with explanation and importable. Please try to avoid having to slash moves/items - the finished build should be the variant you like the most. If you want to give another option for a move or item, put it in the explanation.

Disputes/Copying: Don't copy another team. If your team has the same pokemon and similar moves to an earlier entry, yours will be disqualified. In addition, if someone tries to abuse this by reserving an early post in the thread for their entry, please bring this to my attention and they will be disqualified. Either way, if you violate either of these you may be barred from the competition in general for some time.

Discussion and team changes: A part of this thread is talking about the teams. While this thread is not meant to be (and I do not want it to be) a RMT thread, suggestions of changes to submitted teams are allowed. If you've already submitted a team however, please do not change the pokemon in it. In general, just make sure that you're happy with the team you send in.

Voting: This competition will use simple voting. just write the name of the builder who built the team you liked the most. You cannot vote for your own team.

WEEK 1: Blaziken

Blaziken is one of the best wallbreakers and sweepers in the tier, due to it's great power and speed boost. Let's see what y'all can craft with this!

The submission deadline is the 12th of June, 2023
 


This team attempts to use choice band Rillaboom and choice specs Dragapult to open up holes in the opposing team so Blaziken can sweep late-game. Grassy terrain greatly assists Toxapex and Heatran in fulfilling their defensive duties while Landorus-Therian is responsible for checking the strong ground types that overwhelm the two alongside Rillaboom. The Dragapult set takes advantage of the status that Toxapex inflicts with scald and toxic while spreading status of its own via thunder wave, which may allow Rillaboom and Blaziken to outspeed certain threats without relying on priority or speed boosts. Heatran is equipped with an air balloon to ease the matchup against Nidoking.

Side note: Landorus-Therian can opt for toxic over knock off if the extra status to boost hex is preferred over item removal.

Blaziken + Healing Wish Jirachi Offense
(Featuring Galarian Moltres)

Been quite a while since I've last used Blaziken, so I figured I'd stop it from collecting dust in my builder for a bit to try this out!

This team is generally centered around the combined efforts of Galarian Moltres, Jirachi, Volcanion, and even Blaziken itself pressuring Bulky Waters extremely hard so that either Gmolt or Blaziken can go for the game, often maintaining a strong matchup into both offensive and bulkier teams alike with how easy it becomes for one of the two to spiral out of control, and the fact they could potentially go at it a second time with Jirachi's Healing Wish, and Trick to lure and cripple Pokémon like Zapdos, Toxapex, Slowbro, and Ferrothorn, so that Moltres and Blaziken can more easily gain able set up opportunities.

Blaziken and Galarian Moltres also provide some very nice defensive qualities to offensive teams that the teamstyle tends to sorely lack normally. Blaziken being able to function as a strong Offensive check to Weavile alongside Volcanion, and Galarian Moltres providing an important Ghost Resist so as to not crumble so easily in the face of Dragapult, Aegislash, and Blacephalon. Jirachi's Healing Wish not only allows for Blaziken and Moltres to be a looming threat even if they've been weakened, but also makes it much easier to take advantage of their defensive utility to better position yourself and not let up on the pressure this team is so good at putting on.

Fire Punch is an option over U-Turn on Jirachi if you prefer a better matchup into Swords Dance Kartana, however, U-Turn in many cases is crucial for maintaining momentum VS the many Bulky Waters that usually come in for free on Jirachi.
Sitrus Berry is chosen on Galarian Moltres as a solid midground item between Heavy-Duty Boots and Weakness Policy, potentially allowing Galarian Moltres to activate Berserk Twice, and makes it slightly more durable in the face of Stealth Rock.​

Blaziken BO



Swords Dance + 3 attacks Blaziken with max HP to better stomach Grassy Glide, Shadow Ball & Moonblast from the likes of Rilla, Pult & Clef. Slowking, Zapdos, Tyranitar & Toxapex form the main defensive backbone of the team.
  • Slowking provides Future Sight & pivot support which helps in breaking opposing fat. Ice Beam on Slowking improves the SD Garchomp & Dragonite matchups
  • Shed Shell on Toxapex improves the Heatran matchup by making it easier to dance around and wear down
  • Tyranitar provides some weather control & is useful against Zapdos, Pult & Volcarona and tanking various hits in general. DD is just cheese into teams that are weak to CB Tyranitar and rely on switching around to deal with it
  • Zapdos is mainly there to punish Kartana, Rillaboom, Tornadus and potentially Melmetal with Static & to be used as a pivot
  • Double dance Landorus is to cheese some KOs or more vs unprepared teams

Bulky Nasty Plot Hydreigon + Thunder Wave Melmetal Bulky Offense

Hydreigon is always a Pokemon I've held in extremely high regard in the context of this meta, and this is a team I've been holding on to for a while now.

One of the biggest unsung traits of Hydreigon in this meta is easily its deceptively impressive defensive profile. While it is true it is weak to a lot of the type chart, and many common attacks in the meta, it resists essentially the entire other half and makes progress off of it with great efficiency.
This team consists of what I believe is to be one of the best overall synergies in the entire tier, that being Hydreigon and Melmetal, with two sets that compliment each other extremely well. Hydreigon is able to switch in on Pokemon that would otherwise threaten Melmetal like Offensive Heatran, Volcanion, Blacephalon, and Victini, and begin to threaten most of the opposing team back by using it as an opportunity to set up a Nasty Plot and force them to either make an aggressive play to keep it from firing off a powerful hit, or attempt to trade blows. Meanwhile Melmetal is able to switch in on many of the Pokemon that would normally threaten Hydreigon, such as Weavile, Clefable, Tapu Lele, and Tapu Fini, all while being able to Paralyze much of the opposing Team to give Hydreigon much greater ease in setting up Nasty Plot. Creating a dangerous combination that has no trouble keeping on the pressure into many structures as they try to dance around the combine efforts of the two.

This team can essentially play in two different modes due to the "divide and conquer" style that the defensive integrity of the team is spread through. All Pokemon on this team are capable of checking something (including Melmetal who only Offensively checks certain Pokemon, but is still worth mentioning). So take full advantage of it to bring in Hydreigon and Melmetal as much as possible, as they're the main heavy hitters of the team. If Protective Pads is not needed in a game VS team structures with very little to no contact punishment methods, don't be afraid to let Melmetal stay in and absorb a Knock Off if it means preserving a more valuable item on a teammate.

Body Press is chosen on Ferrothorn to allow it to better pressure Kartana and opposing Ferrothorn, It is also on Slowbro to not allow Kartana, and Weavile free turns of setup, while Toxic on Tapu Koko allows it to status and put Pokemon like Hippowdon and Gastrodon on a loud ticking timer, which Hydreigon abuses incredibly well.​

I legitimately do not understand how forum inclusions work so I drew the team to compensate.



Taking heavy inspiration from the teams showing up towards the end of CG SS, this team utilizes Hydreigons's unique niche as a Heatran and Blacephalon answer to defog late in the game while maintaining a healthy level of longevity into most teams relying on Future Sight + Breakers by spamming hazards in the early game to force progress and make up for the lack of concise win con that other stall teams can afford to run. Due to Hydreigons great bulk the EVs are heavily tweakable: Here they serve a function of outspeeding and potentially KOing a weakened Lele towards the late game, which this team can force by virtue of the amount of hazard spam available.

Hydreigon forces some nasty hard predictions for Lele while going up against most psychic types in the tier trying to aim for early sweeps, thereby giving Pex room to set Light Screen freeing up room for Skarmory and Hippowdon to set rocks and spikes. Due to the lack of a Blissey the team compensates by using key resistances to win the war of attrition: Storm Drain Gastrodon and Pex act as the splashable (ha.) tanks that spam recover and snipe statuses on mons that would otherwise butcher the lineup such as Volcanion and Urshifu Rapid Strike. The cleric in this case is an Unaware Clefable: Clefable alleviates the teams' weaknesses to setup sweepers towards late game and helps close out games once the hazard war has been won by Skarmory and Hippowdon.

Roar Hydreigon Fat


This team attempts to take advantage of the switches Hydreigon forces to phaze opponents and rake them through hazards so they can be slowly chipped down for Regieleki to clean up late game. A solid defensive backbone of Landorus-Therian, Ferrothorn and Clefable allow the team to soak up hits and pivot around/harass offensive threats while setting up hazards (or keeping them off in the case of Landorus-Therian). Regieleki provides speed control, pivoting and rapid spin support if hazards are up on both sides of the field while acting as a ground-type lure for Crawdaunt to take advantage of via double switches. Speaking of the crayfish, it gives the team some breaking power against bulkier teams and a Volcarona revenge killer, which can run riot against this team if Landorus-Therian is out of commission. Clefable is equipped with thunder wave to paralyse faster threats that like to come in on it (e.g. Kartana) since this team is very slow outside of Regieleki.

I like both but going with Neon: Team uses a lot of modern traits in SS to force a win con which I like to see.
