Project SS PU Victim of the Week | Week 2 - Sneasel (Submissions)

Glaceon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Ice Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Shadow Ball
- Hyper Voice

Slapping a choice scarf might seem like a lazy thing to do, but if it checks, it checks. The combination of nature and amped speed stat allows Ice Beam a guaranteed KO. If you're feeling gutsy enough to have her step in on one of its attacking moves, it takes ~half from Flamethrower, a bit more from Multi-Attack. Freeze-Dry's there to krump things like Ludicolo, other benefits include outpacing everything up to +speed Liepard, which also includes Manectric

252 Atk Silvally-Flying Multi-Attack vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Glaceon: 145-172 (53.5 - 63.4%)
0- SpA Silvally-Flying Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Glaceon: 116-138 (42.8 - 50.9%)
(and just because it was there first) 0- SpA Silvally-Flying Surf vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Glaceon: 58-69 (21.4 - 25.4%)

252+ SpA Glaceon Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Silvally-Flying: 338-398 (102.1 - 120.2%)
252+ SpA Glaceon Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Silvally-Flying: 264-312 (79.7 - 94.2%) (KO after stealth rocks)

Basculin @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Aqua Jet

this thing hits like a truck. 252 speed naive on basc hits 324 and outspeeds vally guaranteed. scald, hydro, and ice beam all guarantee a 2hko, so vally cant switch in on you. pump also has a high chance to ohko with rocks up. but it only serves as a check. it can switch in on multi-attack once if vally has no boosts, but dies at +2. basc also tanks surf/flame.

252 SpA Life Orb Adaptability Basculin Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Silvally-Flying: 234-278 (70.6 - 83.9%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Life Orb Adaptability Basculin Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Silvally-Flying: 234-278 (70.6 - 83.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Adaptability Basculin Scald vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Silvally-Flying: 174-205 (52.5 - 61.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Basculin Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Silvally-Flying: 192-229 (58 - 69.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Silvally-Flying Multi-Attack vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Basculin: 150-177 (53.3 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Silvally-Flying Multi-Attack vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Basculin: 299-352 (106.4 - 125.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0- SpA Silvally-Flying Surf vs. 0 HP / 4- SpD Basculin: 50-59 (17.7 - 20.9%) -- guaranteed 5HKO after Stealth Rock

Stonjourner @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Power Spot
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Heat Crash
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Check. Cannot manually switch into Flyingvally at all due to have Surf which might as well OHKO it:

0- SpA Silvally-Flying Surf vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Stonjourner: 340-402 (99.7 - 117.8%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

However, thanks to neat looking scarf, Stonjourner can outspeed it and OHKO with Stone Edge, barely (somehow):

252 Atk Stonjourner Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Silvally-Flying: 332-392 (100.3 - 118.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Type: Null @ Eviolite
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- U-turn
- Crush Claw

Type: Null somehow is only a check to Ludicolo, as rain boosted Hydro Pump 3HKOs it, but Type: Null can easily handle Ludicolo if rain is not yet set up. Outside of rain, Hydro Pump is only a 4HKO (and has to rely on shaky accuracy). Meanwhile, Crush Claw is a guaranteed 3HKO and U-turn has a chance to 2HKO it. If your HP drops close to 30%, all you have to do is Rest up and stall out some turns. imo in practice, Type: Null is basically a counter to Ludicolo due to inaccuracy of Hydro Pump, but on paper it's as close as a check can be to countering it.

Reserving Pincurchin I had thought that spdef Pincurchin could survive some hits and click Recover but with LO and Rain it is quite impossible.

So I will be writing about a check/soft counter defensively (as you know I love to play stall and so on). This Pokémon is Sliggoo that with a RestTalk Toxic and Outrage could tank Ice Beam with a 0.2% of 3HKO. If it can Toxic it then you need to sack other Pokémon and with this you can avoid the final sweep of your entire team.

Sap Sipper would be the normal/standard ability but Hydration could be cool to better check specifically Ludicolo being then a total counter.

Sliggoo @ Eviolite
Ability: Sap Sipper / Hydration
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Outrage
- Toxic
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

4 SpA Sliggoo Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ludicolo: 79-94 (26.2 - 31.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Sliggoo: 99-117 (29.1 - 34.4%) -- 3.1% chance to 3HKO

reserving Shedinja

Shedinja

Shedinja @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- X-Scissor
- Shadow Sneak
- Will-O-Wisp

Ludicolo's impressive coverage and devastating STABs can absolutely wreak havoc in the tier, however Water/Grass/Ice and the occasional Fighting (Focus Blast) are simply not enough to even deal 1 HP of damage to the dancing pineapple's worst nightmare: Shedinja. Shedinja is quite literally, a counter to Ludicolo thanks to Wonder Guard. And thanks to the new item Heavy-Duty Boots, the Ludicolo player cannot even pressure the Shedinja player with the Stealth Rock or Toxic Spikes OHKOing Shedinja on switch-in. Shedinja is also able to pressure the Ludicolo player even more because Ludicolo is forced to switch, therefore Shedinja gets a free Will-O-Wisp every time they decide to switch.

In regards to the VOTW Ludicolo set, the only possible way Ludicolo can even attack Shedinja is by using Weather Ball (which is not a move Ludicolo ever runs) in the Sun (which again, is not a teamstyle Ludicolo should be played on).

Regardless of what Ludicolo wants to do, Shedinja will 100% always rain on its parade (pun intended).

Munchlax @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Toxic
- Body Slam
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

While either rain-boosted Hydro Pump and Weather Ball 3HKO, Munchlax also 3HKOs Ludicolo with Body Slam and can easily recover its HP with Rest, which can also help to stall out rain turns. Outside of rain, Hydro Pump only 4HKOs, and there's also the fact that Ludicolo is damaging itself as it takes on Munchlax because of Life Orb. All of this comes together in allowing Munchlax to solidly check Ludicolo.

Fraxure @ Choice Band
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- First Impression
- Poison Jab
- Stomping Tantrum

Fraxure is a unique check to Ludicolo as the best user of super effective priority First Impression which cleanly OHKOs it.

252+ Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Fraxure First Impression vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Ludicolo: 400-472 (132.8 - 156.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Katy

Banned deucer.
mareanie

:ss/Mareanie:
Mareanie @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Scald
- Recover
- Haze

:mareanie: is a check to ludicolo as it can come into any of its attacks and threaten it with a super effective sludge bomb and even when ludicolo freezes it with its coverage-move in ice beam
it can easily thaw out because of its access to scald which melts the ice away. Also mareanie can recover the damage it took and has a 30% chance to sludge bomb poison ludicolo,
which renders ludicolo useless for the rest of the game as it doesnt like to get poisoned.

calcs:
0 SpA Mareanie Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ludicolo: 102-120 (33.8 - 39.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Mareanie in Rain: 105-125 (34.5 - 41.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Mareanie: 97-114 (31.9 - 37.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Mareanie: 39-45 (12.8 - 14.8%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock

I nominate Roselia as an offensive check.
:Roselia: @ Eviolite
Modest Nature
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Spikes
- Synthesis

I was just really sad when I realised that the eviolite set loses to ludicolo due to the lowest roll. That makes my job harder but here's the set.
Oh well. I guess dumb low rolls dont matter :)
s/o royesk

252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Roselia: 174-205 (57.4 - 67.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Roselia Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ludicolo: 270-318 (89.7 - 105.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO (After 1 turn of LO recoil)

So obviously the very lowest roll matters but that apparently is okay because you get a double KO against ludi, and to be fair, trading a roselia for the strongest win condition in the metagame under rain is very, very worth it in my opinion.

Aw, sheeit, here we go again
lapras.gif

Lapras @ Assault Vest
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 208 HP / 252 SpA / 48 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Psychic

I swear, the three ice-type suggestions in a row are a coincidence. I wanted to think of something that could at least check this thing while the rain was up. Unorthodox, yes, but this setup gives her the chance to NOT be 2HKO'd if you so choose to bring her in on a ballsy switch-in, and KO back with a Freeze-Dry. It also gives her a bit more longevity against the likes of other hard hitters such as Manectric long enough to put a dent in him, while outspeeding everything up until Roselia

252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Giga Drain vs. 208 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Lapras: 190-226 (41.9 - 49.8%)

252+ SpA Lapras Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ludicolo: 376-448 (124.9 - 148.8%)
