FLYGON BY Yourwelcomthank
congratulations!
in second place, we have: :incineroar: by Microwave Raccoon
congrats to you as well!
with that out of the way, the next pokemon for you to find a match is:
1617250764765.png
Flygon @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- First Impression
- U-turn
ever since zygarde 10%'s ban, people have been experimenting with banded flygon as a replacement. while it may not have the broken mover that is thousand arrows, it partially makes up for it using u-turn to pivot. can we find a way to make this as menacing as it's dog counterpart?
submissions end on sunday the 4th, gmt+5:30!

By virtue of being the only submission this week,
Yourwelcomthank wins this (totally not april fools) week!
congratulations!
now that the april fool's thing is done, let's move on to this week's pokemon!
DOUBLE POINTS WEEK
(points for this week's winners are doubled!)

Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

the most exciting (and only) RU drop these april shifts, barraskewda rears its head in RU once again! what can we pair with the barracuda to help it on its way in flip turning on everything?
(submissions for this week end on friday the 9th!)

reserving boots zarude

Zarude @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Jungle Healing
- Power Whip
- Darkest Lariat
- U-turn

Zarude's u-turn allows it to form a very nice volt-turn-flip core with the fish. Skewda flip turns out on electrics, non immune bulky waters and other additional mons that really fall into a category such as celebi. Zarude really likes coming in for free against many of these and can abuse the free turn it gets again with u-turn on a switch into something like incineroar which barra can freely abuse. Zarude also heavily pressures the main two water immunes (sorry volcanion) allowing skewda to do some real damage if the opponent fears a double switch. I know I basically just explained how volt-turn works, sorry about that.

Raikou @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Toxic / Extrasensory
- Aura Sphere

Raikou and Barraskewda form a potent volturn core against teams with Milotic as their water. Additionally, Raikou is able to toxic bulky waters like Gastrodon and Seismitoad, while also being able to pressure the bulky grasses like Tangela or Vileplume that can switch into Barraskewda. Finally, if you have another way of pressuring Gastrodon and Seismitoad, for example Incineroar, you can use extransensory on Raikou instead, which is able to chip at Vileplume and Dragalge instead.

Crobat @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Roost
- Taunt/Defog
Pivot Crobat is a phenomenal teammate for barraskewda. Crobat is great as it swaps into many of the grass types that would give barraskewda trouble. Countering roserade and with taunt vileplume. Zarude, Crobat is not 2hkod by darkest lariat and can u-turn to pivot out. iIf zarude eats a u-turn in an attempt to regain momentum its now in skewda Close combat range. Virizion, Crobat lives any hit on swap in even LO Stone edge and threatans it with an ohko, also after 3 rounds of LO recoil virizion is in range of barrewskewda guranteed. Celebi can be walled by crobat if it lacks psychic meaning if its a rocks pivot set or a plot set just lacking the coverage. of course even if celebi has psychic it is usually pretty easy to turn into momentum with a u-turn or brave bird it potentailly with LO recoil into skewda range.

Dhelmise is 2hkod by BB crobat just needs to be careful swaping into poltergiest you will beat it if Barreksewda brings Crobat in on Flip turn or it comes in on power whip. with hazards down you can chip down these grass types into skewda range in conjuction with taunt to stop healing and or u-turn chip. Crobat also is able to keep momentum with u-turn in fact some pokemon it u-turns on skweda can scare right back out. Rhyperior and steelix (as it lives EQ and body press) mainly and even stakataka thanks to CC with some prior chip. As you see they are ablt to create quite the momentum combo with flip turn and u-turn .Also some electric types crobat does invite in like raikou and xurkitree. So Crobat could chip them into liqudation range or to have skewda flip turn on them to then put them in range for sure. Asides slapping on toxic seismitaod and gastrodon wall these 2 but thats what the rest of your team is for.

Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Dazzling Gleam
- Energy Ball
- Volt Switch

Good partner for Barraskewda to either erase bulky Waters like Seismitoad, Suicune, Milotic, and even Volcanion (not so bulky). This allows Barraskewda more breathing room to spam Liquidation and all that. This should go without saying that Grasses will still be a problem, but that's what the other 4 teammates are for lol.

Roserade @ Black Sludge
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 160 HP / 28 SpA / 140 SpD / 180 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Spikes

Roserade is a good partner for Barraskewda. It threatens two of Barraskewda's best switchins in Seismitoad and Gastrodon with its grass stab. It can come in on both of them not having to be too concerned about a scald burn because of natural cure, and can switch into them reliably over the course of a game by recovering with synthesis. Roserade will typically force both toad and gastro out, allowing it to stack spikes making Barraskewda even more difficult to switch in to. Roserade is also able to switch into Raikou and Xurkitree, both of which threaten to ohko Barraskewda with tbolt or volt switch.

This Roserade spread allows it to psychic fangs from opposing Barraskewda. It speed creeps togekiss and can 2hko it with sludge bomb, with the rest put into spdef to help switch into Raikou and Xurk.

252 Atk Barraskewda Psychic Fangs vs. 160 HP / 0 Def Roserade: 254-300 (84.3 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
28 SpA Roserade Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Togekiss: 216-254 (57.7 - 67.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Darmanitan @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Toxic

Scarf Darmanitan is a pretty solid partner for Barraskewda overall, as it is able to pressure Grass-types like Zarude and Vileplume that threaten Barraskewda while also being able to wear down opposing bulky Water-types or forcing Toxic on them. While Darmanitan will not end up directly breaking the bulky Water-types such as Milotic or Gastrodon, being able to chip them down in tandem with Toxic damage can be quite nice as it is capable of overwhelming them quickly to the point where they can be KO'd by Barraskewda. Darmanitan can also do VoltTurn shenanigans with Barraskewda, which can run circles around your opponent in certain matchups.

Gastrodon @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Toxic
Gastrodon has recently risen to be one of RU's premier defensive water types with its great typing and ability allowing it to check a large amount of the tier's pokemon. What can we do to help cover its wekanesses?

deadline for submissions is 23rd april, gmt+5:30!

:Vileplume: @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Strength Sap
- Aromatherapy

Vileplume offers a much-needed grass resist for Gastrodon and an Aromatherapy variant can be very helpful as a lot mons try to beat Gastrodon long-term by poisoning it. Vileplume and Gastrodon form a great defensive backbone as they together beat 2 of our most prevalent Electric types in Raikou and Xurkitree.
