Tangela @ Eviolite
Bold Nature
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Sleep Powder

This post was made in honor of our spaghetti boi rising up to RU these shifts. Tangela gives zero shits about any of barraskweda's attack's and can kill with leaf storm, then switch out with regenerator to heal off the small damage barra did to it.

252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Liquidation vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Tangela: 48-57 (14.3 - 17%) -- possible 6HKO

Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover

- Taunt

:Jellicent: is a check to Barraskewda as it can come in on Flip Turn, Liquidation, Close Combat and Double-Edge, while absorbing health from the first 2 moves it is completly immune to fighting- and normal-coverage from Barraskewda. The only hit, which Barraskewda can go for to hit Jellicent is Crunch. Jellicent can also burn Barraskewda or annoy one of its incoming team partners with a taunt or scald-burn.

252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Crunch vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Colbur Berry Jellicent: 138-163 (34.1 - 40.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Heliolisk @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Volt Switch
- Surf / Grass Knot
- Hyper Voice

Thanks to dry skin, heliolisk as an water immunity making him able to freely come on Barraskewda's water moves and easily ko it with either thunderbolt or volt switch. Sadly, that's where the good things end because Heliolisk frailty makes that even crunch has a chance to ohko the lizard boi, making him only a check to Barraskewda.

:heliolisk: 252 SpA Heliolisk Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Barraskewda: 354-416 (134.6 - 158.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Jolly Nature

Virizion is a strong check to Barraskewda, as it can survive any 1 hit and OHKO back with Leaf Blade. Only a check as Close Combat and Double-Edge both 2HKO so it can’t switch in.

252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Double-Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 272-320 (84.2 - 99%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

reserving golisopod as check

:ss/golisopod:
Golisopod @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Emergency Exit
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Atk / 48 Def
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Liquidation
- Knock Off
- Spikes

212+ Atk Golisopod First Impression vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Barraskewda: 231-273 (87.8 - 103.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
212+ Atk Golisopod First Impression vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Barraskewda: 231-273 (87.8 - 103.8%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Double-Edge vs. 248 HP / 48 Def Golisopod: 149-176 (42.2 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Liquidation vs. 248 HP / 48 Def Golisopod: 79-93 (22.3 - 26.3%) -- 17.3% chance to 4HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Crunch vs. 248 HP / 48 Def Golisopod: 100-118 (28.3 - 33.4%) -- 0% chance to 3HKO

Golisopod is able to take hits from Barraskewda very reliably and threaten an OHKO with First Impression, which is guaranteed if it takes any entry hazard damage (or recoil from Double-Edge). Being able to threaten a priority OHKO forced it out, which is very useful because you're still able to force it out even at low HP.

Nothing Barraskewda can do really threatens Golisopod; Double-Edge hits the hardest, but a little Defense investment ensures it will never 2HKO you.

ugh yall took the mons i wanted anyway i will reserve plume

Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
- Strength Sap
- Sludge Bomb

Vileplume resists both Water and Fighting attacks, and its physical bulk allows it to comfortably come in on close combat or a crunch before forcing Barraskewda out with either of its STABs. While its unique typing puts it in a hard position against Barraskewda's that use psychic fangs. Vileplume can use the nearly free switch-in to Barraskewda offers to put one of the foe's pokemon to sleep, or it can cripple whatever switches into it with it stabs. Also, Vileplume has Strength sap to get recovery with also Effect spore which can status the foe's Barraskewda. This EV spread maximizes Vileplume physdef and to take as much hits Barraskewda can provide. Vileplume as a counter.
Calcs:
252 Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Double-Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Vileplume: 151-178 (42.6 - 50.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Mantine @ Heavy-Duty Boots

This Water Absorb user has the distinct check as the best matchup vs the Barraskewda coverage moves out of the WA pokemon in the tier. Where Jellicent uses the crutch of a colbur berry and Seismitoad doesn't resist any coverage moves, Mantine at least has the distinction of resisting close combat. Therefore, Mantine forces a 50/50 on most variants with the dilemma between using a water move and either crunch or double edge (depending on the variant). Running 244 defense instead of speed allows Mantine to always live 2 crunches and gives it a pretty good chance to live 2 jolly double edges (adamant will always 2hko, but adamant Barraskewda would miss the chance to outrun scarf Decidueye, Jolteon, other Barraskewda, etc). Adamant double-edge is a slight problem for Mantine to handle, but in my experience Barraskewda wants the fighting coverage more - and locking into double edge usually doesn't provide a great long term option for a player. In conclusion, having this mon on your team will permanently discourage the Barraskewda player from clicking water type moves. Both psychologically and mathematically, Mantine checks Barraskewda.

252 Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Double-Edge vs. 248 HP / 244+ Def Mantine: 171-202 (45.8 - 54.1%) -- 47.7% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Double-Edge vs. 248 HP / 244+ Def Mantine: 188-222 (50.4 - 59.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Milotic @ Leftovers / Flame Orb
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Flip Turn / Haze
- Toxic

Check. Milotic eats up any hit at least once including Double-Edge. It is a small chance to 2HKO (5.9%) but Milotic can just recover any lost HP right back. So, ideally you'd want to bring this in safely to avoid any chance of a 2HKO. Coming in safely to activate the Flame Orb and thusly, Marvel Scale only helps it out. Milotic will then allow Barraskewda to kill itself from Double-Edge or just watch it tire itself to death through other means or die from Scald hits.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Heatproof
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam
- Rest
- Psychic

Bronzong is an Exploud Counter. For example, Bronzong can relatively switch-in to all of Exploud's attacks. Heatproof allows it to halve fire attack damages dealt against it, which is a key part of walling Exploud because you can take minimal damage from a fire blast while threatening them with a psychic. Rest allows Bronzong to longer livelihood and wastes its boomburst pp. This spread basically maximizes Bronzong's SpDef, heavy slam is mainly for Gardevoir, the rest is pretty basic.
Calcs:
252 SpA Choice Specs Exploud Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Heatproof Bronzong: 92-110 (27.2 - 32.5%) -- 57.3% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Copperajah @ Assault Vest
Ability: Heavy Metal
EVs: 252 Atk / 172 SpD / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Heavy Slam

:copperajah: is a check to exploud. It can come in on boomburst and hydro pump rather easily and threaten exploud in return with a STAB heavy slam or one of its coverages especially superpower. Copperajah has to be careful about switching into fire blast or focu blast as these moves will 2HKO copperajah directly. But in overall copper does a great job in checking exploud, when it is locked into its normal-type STAB.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Exploud Boomburst vs. 0 HP / 172 SpD Assault Vest Copperajah: 107-126 (27.7 - 32.7%) -- 14.3% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
