Project SS Ubers UU Teambuilding Competition

1000034237.jpg

This week we have Moltres! This fiery (chicken) bird has been making waves in the tier with it's fantastic defensive set, making use of its solid bulk, Ground immunity, Steel resist, fighting resist and flame body to switch into the plenty of Close Combats, Double Iron Bashes and Earthquakes in the tier. It further combines that with a fantastic offensive STAB combination and a powerful STAB Hurricane that prevents the many Dragons from switching into it for free. It can choose to run either Will-O-Wisp or Toxic to ruin its few checks or even use Scorching Sands to dispatch off Heatran itself. Which way would you choose with it? Would it be an offensive flavour or a standard defensive set?

Submission Requirements:

-Must be a legal team in SS Ubers UU
-Must Include 2 replays that show the team

Deadline for the submissions is Sunday June 29th, 11:59 pm -4 and voting will begin later.

Hello ya'll, Ive come to make the first post of the extension. Now, Moltres sets are pretty standard, and while i tried to change the mold, I'm not built to break the mold that much. So instead I built around one of Moltres's traits that I really like, its ability to be an incredible pivot.

KyuUrsh Balance
:kyurem-white: :urshifu: :clefable: :moltres: :solgaleo: :chansey:

Kyurem-White and Urshifu are meant to be the main center of damage for this team. However, as you will come to see, the true power of this team comes from Life Orb Solgaleo. Clefable, Moltres, and Chansey make up the defensive core of the team. The pivoting core of Clef and Molt can being in the powerful threats consistently and safely, while also providing utility in the form of Wishpassing and Defog respectively. Chansey is tasked with handling the rest of the threats in the format, with its massive special bulk and HP. Neither Kyurem-White or Urshifu were really used in these replays, but they were made to be the main damage core of this team. Kyurem-White with subroost gives it longevity and the ability to punish pivoting around it, where Scarf Urshifu provides powerful speed control for the team. Solgaleo, oh Solgaleo, a wholly unoptimized mixed set that still put in so much work. While the suprise mixed set definitly helped, Solgaleo has a good speed tier to make light work of some of the tier staples. That along with its Rock resistence gives it extra longevity which helps it get away with Life Orb, that along with the ever reliable Morning Sun. Okay okay, this isn't Solgaleo's week. Anyways, time to include the replays and a defense of my Moltres set (cause apperently its "too passive" and "objectively bad")

Versus Lyra Sand This both showcases the weaknesses and strengths of Moltres, while trading in Toxic and (more importantly )Fire STAB for Hazard Control and Ground coverage technically made me more passive and reliant on Burn odds, I was able to more effectively preassure Heatran and still keep the preassure high for Excadrill.

Versus Neimad BO? This showcases primarily Moltres's ability to pivot in and out of a game, but moreso the whole defensive core. Able to keep the opposing offensive monsters in check. (It also shows Neimads mistake of letting Tar go down but shh.

Moltres @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Scorching Sands
- U-turn

I still hear Lyra's voice ringing through my ear, "There is no glory for shitty moltres sets." Ah, well, I think this Moltres set is able to accomplish what this team needs. It can deal with Steel attackers with would otherwise give the team way more trouble than it currently does, between Clef and Kyuw, I felt that Scorching Sands helped to deal with Heatran, which was a very big deal to me. Either way, the team itself is not perfect, it could definitley be Evd better overall, and maybe iron out some picks. However, in its current state, I think this Molt works just fine.

Well, if you actually read all that, thank you! If you didn't I completely understand. Either way, thank you!
