Stinkin Wallrein.. [WARSTORY vs Dragontamer]

So this is Shoddy Gym battle #2 for me vs Dragontamer. Last time, his wallrein got set up. I don't think I ever got him out. But he does have a really great team, even before i can manage to get to Walrein.

Here's the lineup: SiriusBlack

Standard rules (Evasion Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause)

dragontamer sent out Abomasnow (lvl 100 Abomasnow ?).
SiriusBlack sent out Fawkes (lvl 100 Skarmory ?).
Abomasnow's Snow Warning whipped up a hailstorm!
Hail began to fall!
(Abomasnow = 100%)
(Skarmory = 100%)

I knew ahead of time that this is a hailstorm team, so I'm not surprised by this matchup. I also know that while drill peck will do some dmg to Aboma, he has 100% accurate blizzard that will smack me harder.

SiriusBlack switched in Hagrid (lvl 100 Registeel).
Abomasnow used Blizzard.
It's not very effective...
Hagrid lost 14% of its health.
The hail continues to fall.
Hagrid is pelted by hail!
Hagrid lost 6% of its health.
(Abomasnow = 100%)
(Registeel = 80%)

Abomasnow used Substitute.
Abomasnow lost 25% of its health.
Abomasnow made a substitute!
Hagrid used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
The hail continues to fall.
Hagrid is pelted by hail!
Hagrid lost 6% of its health.
Abomasnow's leftovers restored its health a little!
Abomasnow restored 6% of its health.
(Abomasnow = 81%)
(Registeel = 74%)

Priority #1, set up rocks. Check. Now my problem is that he's behind a sub, which renders my toxic useless. There's nothing I can do to him.

SiriusBlack switched in Fawkes (lvl 100 Skarmory ?).
Abomasnow used Leech Seed.
Fawkes was seeded!
The hail continues to fall.
Fawkes is pelted by hail!
Fawkes lost 6% of its health.
Abomasnow's leftovers restored its health a little!
Abomasnow restored 6% of its health.
Fawkes's health was sapped by leech seed!
Fawkes lost 12% of its health.
Abomasnow regained health!
Abomasnow restored 13% of its health.
(Abomasnow = 100%)
(Skarmory = 82%)

Again, I know blizzard is coming for sure this time, and it's a definite 2KO. Gotta get rid of it.

Abomasnow used Blizzard.
Fawkes lost 63% of its health.
Fawkes used Roar.
dragontamer switched in Swampert (lvl 100 Swampert ?).
Pointed stones dug into Swampert.

Fawkes is pelted by hail!
Fawkes lost 6% of its health.
Fawkes's health was sapped by leech seed!
Fawkes lost 12% of its health.
Swampert regained health!
Swampert restored 10% of its health.
(Swampert = 98%)
(Skarmory = 1%)

Well, I'm glad that Skarm is still alive after the roar, but it's a bit of a moot point at this time. Any attack will kill it, and it can't switch back in. Here is mistake #1. I switch. Honestly I was hoping to use skarm as a sacrificial switch later on, but I didn't expect DT to switch here.

dragontamer switched in Froslass (lvl 100 Froslass ?).
Pointed stones dug into Froslass.
Froslass lost 25% of its health.
SiriusBlack switched in The Bloody Baron (lvl 100 Dusknoir ?).

The hail continues to fall.
The Bloody Baron is pelted by hail!
The Bloody Baron lost 6% of its health.
The Bloody Baron's leftovers restored its health a little!
The Bloody Baron restored 6% of its health.
(Froslass = 75%)
(Dusknoir = 100%)

Froslass hits hard, and I know this. If i'm lucky, I might be able to 2KO, or 1 if I crit.

The Bloody Baron used Shadow Sneak.
It's super effective!
Froslass lost 50% of its health.
Froslass used Destiny Bond.
Froslass is trying to take its foe with it!
The hail continues to fall.
The Bloody Baron is pelted by hail!
The Bloody Baron lost 6% of its health.
The Bloody Baron's leftovers restored its health a little!
The Bloody Baron restored 6% of its health.
(Froslass = 25%)
(Dusknoir = 100%)

Um, crap. I can't attack again, and he knows it. I'll have to sacrifice skarm sooner than I thought.

SiriusBlack switched in Fawkes (lvl 100 Skarmory ?).
Froslass used Blizzard.
Fawkes lost 60% of its health.
SiriusBlack's Fawkes fainted.
The hail continues to fall.

The Bloody Baron is exerting its pressure!
(Froslass = 25%)
(Skarmory = dead weight lost. gg skarm.)
(Dusknoir = 100%)

6-5 DT

Now I know that it's way too early in this fight to excuse froslass, as she's -so- fast and hits hard, so Shadow Sneak is out. I also know that most everything on this team will naturally resist ice, so Ice Punch is out. And I'm at full health, so Pain Split is out.

dragontamer switched in Tentacruel (lvl 100 Tentacruel ?).
Pointed stones dug into Tentacruel.
Tentacruel lost 12% of its health.
The Bloody Baron used Thunderpunch.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!

The Bloody Baron is pelted by hail!
The Bloody Baron lost 6% of its health.
The Bloody Baron's leftovers restored its health a little!
The Bloody Baron restored 6% of its health.
dragontamer switched in Swampert (lvl 100 Swampert ?).
Pointed stones dug into Swampert.
Swampert lost 6% of its health.
(Tentacruel = Dead Jellyfish)
(Swampert = 92%)
(Dusknoir = 100%)

5-5

Sweet action, my pseudo-prediction worked out, not to mention that there's no way I would have gotten that OHKO without that crit. Huzzah. I think it still would have been just fine if I hadn't got the crit, but he may have switched tenta out instead, and this would be a very different warstory! I am, however, less than thrilled to see Swampert. But being the efffective wall that dusk is, I don't forsee an EQ.

SiriusBlack switched in Hagrid (lvl 100 Registeel).
Swampert used Stealth Rock.
The hail continues to fall.
Swampert is pelted by hail!
Swampert lost 6% of its health.
Hagrid is pelted by hail!

The hail continues to fall.
Swampert is pelted by hail!
Swampert lost 6% of its health.
Hagrid is pelted by hail!
Hagrid lost 6% of its health.
(Swampert = 3%)
(Registeel = 21%)

Oh for the love of God, 3%!?! He couldn't have hit me 2% harder to counter back 4 extra percent? Bah! Being the rediculous wall that Registeel is, I knew he would survive the EQ and counter it back well. Regi can actually counter a lot of heavy hits, including CBChomp eqs, so I knew he would take swampert like a man. But damn, he's got me quite scrapped now. I could theoretically rest berry assuming he'd switch, but he won't. If only I had managed to salvage skarmory one more turn..

Swampert used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Hagrid lost 44% of its health.
SiriusBlack's Hagrid fainted.
The hail continues to fall.
Swampert is pelted by hail!
Swampert lost 6% of its health.
dragontamer's Swampert fainted.

A sandstorm brewed!
Pointed stones dug into Basilisk.
Basilisk lost 12% of its health.
(Weavile = 75%)
(Tyranitar = 88%)

Well crap. Weavile, one of the most predictable and dangerous pokes for my team.. I know at the very least he will have Brick Break, and I won't be able to take that at all.

(Garchomp = 38%)

2-1 DT

There was really nothing that could be done for him in this spot. The sub had to go. I knew TTar was going to take a big hit, but that was that. Ice Shard or not, it was Chomp's turn.

Hooray! No ice shard! Now we're down to it, and I knew what was coming, but this is a dangerous game. Please sand veil, come through for me. If he has any ice moves at all with this version of Stallrein, it's gg.

dragontamer: hmm
dragontamer: This is bad
dragontamer: gg
dragontamer: I think you won this

(Walrein = 37%)
(Garchomp = 3%)

Arg! 32% on previous hit, 37% to go, and I'm only taking one more shot, unless sand veil kicks in. I could go with fire fang, but the dmg will be less (no STAB + Expert Belt bonus), and no guaranteed flinch.. No pressure, chomp, but I need a crit or a high end dmg hit.

Chimaera used Earthquake.
Walrein lost 36% of its health.
Walrein used Surf.

it was such a good game.. I'll get you yet, dragon!!

pros
-Regi getting to surprise swampy with a nearly fatal counter
-TTar and Chomp being men among men
-Dusknoir killing Tenta and just being generally wallish

cons
-Regi getting to surprise swampy with a nearly fatal counter
-Skarm not getting to spike at all
-Starmie for lack of sexiness that she usually pushes

-losing such a big battle by 1%.

Wow that was so fun to read!~ Maybe I should breed some Walreins of my own! It is my favorite water/ice type with tusks! XD

I had a level 100 one in my sapphire version. Is it only good in the hail? Maybe I should make a hail team... I have problems deciding things. ^,^;

The nicknames were a pain for me. I had to learn them after scrolling up and checking the order of appearance, or simply by knowing some movesets. Might wanna clarify who is who somewhere at the start- otherwise, good job. DT is what I call a 'shitwrecker' in the hail.

Good read, Tamer is skilled.

I remember not long ago when hail teams were dubbed "novelty". Now they are hard to beat even when you're prepared for them.

I hate that (BAN ME PLEASE) of a Stallrein, effective though he is, he takes the fun out of it. That said, it was a fun Warstory and rather than Stallrein, Weavile did you in.

Please dont ever use nicknames in warstories. Even if you list them at the beginning its hard to remember them, and reading the warstory becomes a hassle.

Lol, I remember this battle well :-)

Very good job with the Tentacruel prediction btw. I wasn't expecting a Thunderpunch at all. But when you reason it out like that, it makes a whole lot of sense.

I should have gone with Swampert :-p

Some things that clearly you do not know about:

Expert Belt doesn't kick in when you use Earthquake to Walrein, seeing as how Earthquake is not indeed, super effective.

Second of all, why in the hell would you have ever switched out Garchomp from Abomasnow? If it did have Ice Shard, then you would have died anyways instead of one Poke later where you had to let Tar die. Btw, had you let Garchomp die to Abomasnow, Tar would had won.

Third of all, why don't you actually count moves...Up to that point, you had already seen Substitute, Leech Seed and Blizzard. Logic says that last move will NOT be Ice Shard.

Was going to point out that Abomasnow had already used all four moves when you were worried about Ice Shard but dude above me already did. Other than that, it was a good read, and emphasizes that Hail teams are a bit above their novelty status!

Also, just a suggestion: please don't use nicknames throughout your warstory. Make a note of them once and then leave them alone.

I started reading this one whilst eating my cereal, and I got so enthralled that my Weetos went soggy. :( The fact it was part of your mini-gym league added a bit more tension to it too.

Was a great story, was especially pleased to see a Hail team work so efficiently. I swear, I'm sure we're all sick of Sandstorm teams by now.

This battle should have been a draw. For some reason on Shoddy Battle, Sandstorm didn't come into effect at the end of the last turn. If it did, Walrein would have also been knocked out and you guys would have drawn. Nice story though.

The battle was over before the Sandstorm could take effect that turn. I'm pretty sure that D/P and PBR differ in that regard, but still...

Anyway, the battle was great--and no Blissey to boot. Woo hoo!

Are you 100% sure about that? I'm pretty sure in advance at least that the game would wait until the entire turn was over. Someone should follow up on this by testing it out on WiFi.

Edit: I checked myself in a DS wireless battle, and it seems that once a Pokemon deals the deciding blow, the match is over.
