Surprise Sweeper Sun Team- First RMT

So, my first RMT. This was a sun team I came up with after several miserable failures with other user names. It started with a facebook post bashing Charizard and stating his uselessness. I made it a personal challenge to try making him useful in OU, and then I discovered something cool. Literally no one seems to expect being sweeped by Charizard. First time using it I OHKO'd a Starmie and it was a toss up who was more surprised, me or the other guy. Semi-ok with ditching Charizard, if we can find an out of nowhere Sun sweeper who does it better.

Ninetales @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Toxic
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flamethrower
- Pain Split

The obvious starter. Pain Split because I needed a fourth move and Will-O-Wisp does a great job of nerfing physical sweepers before switching in either Charizard or Dragonite for a kill and sweep start

Charizard @ Choice Specs
Trait: Solar Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Roost
- Dragon Pulse
- SolarBeam

The surprise killer. I more or less used a basic suggested set, but I almost always use fire blast, so it doesn't matter much. The weakness is, obviously that he can't swtich in without either nerfing support beforehand or switching into a non-sweeper like Blissey or something.

Venusaur @ Black Sludge
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- SolarBeam
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Sleep Powder

A great sweeper as long as the sun stays out. Frustrating useless against Politoad due to Ice Beam and Drizzle. Sludge Bomb works great and Sleep Powder makes another good set-up for Charizard or someone else. Generally my first switch-in if ninetails switches out or faints.

Starmie @ Absorb Bulb
Trait: Analytic
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd
Timid Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam

The spinner. Unless a fighting type or Dragon type comes out after I've killed Forretress or Hippowdon, he doesn't see much action. Since dragonite has ground covered well, i liked the type coverage here over Donphan.

Dragonite @ Fire Gem
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
- ExtremeSpeed
- Dragon Dance

Generally an anchor after someone faints. Multiscale lets him take a hit while he dragon dances, then go for the kill with a mega-boosted Fire punch. Also my rock and steel type killer + my only real counter for Heatran

Volcarona @ Charcoal
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 Spd
- Fiery Dance
- Quiver Dance
- Sunny Day
- Roost

The sixth Just Because pokemon. Such a pain in my ass, I figured he would be to others as well. Doesn't see much use unless things go wrong. Sunny Day replaced U-turn in case politoad or tyranitar countered and killed ninetails. Considering replacing him with Victini. Tried latias, results were not impressive, so I switched back.

My weaknesses as I see them.
1: Other weather conditions. Politoad is the bane of my existence. Starmie can kill it with Thunderbolt, but not quickly enough to keep my momentum going. Likewise with Tyranitar or Hippowdon. I couldn't find a place for a water move, and the few times I fought Tyranitar, he knew Ice beam to stop earthquake from Dragonite.
2: Big dragon-type sweepers. Outrage physical sweepers are devastating to my team. My only real options are Will o Wisp or Sleep powder, and they either miss more often than I'd like, or the other guy has a lum berry
3: Flash Fire. My team is useless against Heatran if something happens to Dragonite.
4. Stalling teams. I've encountered Truant-Protect-sub combos and sub-seed so far. No way to deal with those unless I predict it very quickly.
5. No second try. If Charizard fails to get his momentum going for whatever reason, Dragonite can't carry all the weight himself, and Venusaur isn't a threat without Sunlight. Starmie and Ninetails die semi-easily, and Volcarana walling needs to time. All in all, one piece of Bad Luck is killer, and I want to minimize that.

I'm a bit confused as to why you are using Roost on a Choice set, when Stealth Rock takes off 50% of Charizard's HP. I'm not seeing what you gain from the move.

As a method of dealing with Heatran, why not try Hidden Power [Ground] on Venusaur or Charizard.

I admit I couldn't really think of a fourth useful special attacking move, but hidden power huh? Yeah I can try it.

Ditch Sunny Day on Volc in favor of Bug Buzz, it needs the dual STABs. You can use Sunny Day over Pain Split on Ninetales, it can really mess up weather starters as they switch in. Leftovers or Lum Berry will generally be more useful on Dragonite. You lose to a large variety of Dragon-types such as Latios and Salamence, but this is tough to fix without totally overhauling the team. Use Hidden Power [Fire] on Venusaur, and Growth over Sleep Powder. This could help a lot. GL with the team.

charizard gets focus blast if we didnt forget alredy...starmie shud b max speed and u can use tobes tran to easily kill foolish politoeds.max spd max sp att wit sunny day solarbeam magma storm and earth power juss catch the politoed wit a magma storm thn sunny day and solarbeam
