Project SV LC Teambuilding Competition - Cycle 4 : Color Coordination (Building Phase)

this is the easiest challange so far
just add a timburr and wingull on any existing team

https://pokepast.es/540795bdaba74797
Built this during lcpl. Dodou is underrated by it hits p hard. oran is a good item for bb and sub, tera blast hits glim and tink qa is a nice prio. Timburr is the powerhourse instead of foo and its not cause of this competiton, timburr was indeed used originally. I wanted a bit more priority and something that hits foongus hard but using defog is a valid option if hazard is annoying. Dig a is good in any team since bro hits everything hard. Foogus is the fight and spore switchin . Chinchou is actually p good as it hits hard a lot of stuff and it can really annoy a team thats underprepared for it. i sort of used it incase opp had mareanie and timburr cant really abuse it like it can do foongus. Also chinchou is a good electric switchin especially elekid and i like sucker punch but tbolt is completely fine as well. Lastly for rocks mudbray does its job of being a ground, vullaby switchin alongside being a rock setter.

RIVALRY WEEK THEME TEAM
(Hook em horns) (Kowasabii claims the throne as best HO builder)

:SV/Rhyhorn::SV/Grookey::SV/Shellder::SV/Glimmet::SV/Diglett-Alola::SV/Nymble: (Click the pokemon for team)

This team features two rivals which are EQ + Grookey, (which was getting some hate in this thread earlier lol, what a coincidence). This is very much an anti meta team that matches well into standard teams. It straight up loses to some less common stuff, a major one is bulk up timburr, if you fight bulk up timburr you will get 6-0ed. It is really good into standard balance teams though that feature the S ranked mons we are building around. I wanted to build around rhyhorn which I was I made the team. I added grookey, shellder, numel and a FWG core. Added diglett for rocks and momentum, added glimmet to be a grounded poison, check vullaby, and give momentum via memento. Later I swapped numel for nymble as it was a much better picked as it helps stop setup and numel wasnt doing much. Honestly might be worth swapping grookey for salandit too.

Replays to prove the team isn't as shit as it looks:
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9lc-2489014453-xuvh6pcfu6e9ey4jtk2mrqu2m6fchv3pw?p2
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9lc-2489045788-obgr7j35i68afjjx00x3rsra6fchbe9pw?p2

HO is really good in LC and I am on a mission to prove it with the team building competition. This tier is way more diverse than many realize, and there are good number of underutilized threats in LC. Double dance rhyhorn is one of those, if I can have success with this shitbox corolla of a team, I really think it is worth looking into and building around. Tera Ground runs through the tier, 2hkoing almost everything even without a SD boost.

rest talk roar bray + chespin spikestack
https://pokepast.es/986415bb9e4d4f1d
had a similar idea with bub by coincidence haha. the elekid set might be unorthodox but it beats toed chou and bray and you have chespin for foong. thats all i can write in fear of deadline
Nice! I like ice & fire punch on elekid pretty well. Super fang feels a tab off but I would try this one out! As for deadline, I think they missed the time so you get to slide in :boi:

Okay I am late this week, I blame the holidays and not having laptop. Thank you to everyone who submitted teams and supported this thread. Here are this weeks teams:

Team 1 - Meowth Hazard Stack by Winterbub :meowth::mareanie::tinkatink::toedscool::stunky::mudbray:

Team 2 - Scarf Sandile by xzeroxman :sandile::chinchou::sandshrew-alola::foongus::grookey::wingull:

Team 3 - Dodou Offense by Eniigma :doduo::timburr::diglett-alola::foongus::chinchou::mudbray:

Team 4 - Hook em Horns by Kowasabii :rhyhorn::grookey::shellder::glimmet::diglett-alola::nymble:

Team 5 - RestTalk Bray and Chespin Stack by mmtaccos :mudbray::tinkatink::stunky::mareanie::elekid::chespin:

Trying a new thing where I have linked the post with the writeup in the team name so it's easier to find. I would recommend reading the writeups above.

To vote, please post with the three teams that you think should win. For example, if I thought that Team 735, Team 90 and Team 129 were the best, I would post this:

Team 735, Team 90, Team 129

Very simple. After voting is finished the team(s) with the most votes will win. Good luck!

I will extend the deadline till morning since I was late. The voting period will end on Monday 10am GMT -8

The voting period has now ended and I'm happy to announce that the winner is...

Team 2 - Scarf Sandile by xzeroxman
:sandile::chinchou::sandshrew-alola::foongus::grookey::wingull:

Sandile is the super cool, glad to see it winning.

CYCLE FOUR
COLOR COORDINATION

"Any Color You Like"

Okay I'm going to stray away from VR based prompts for this week for a change but I want to thank a few people who provided great suggestions I will use in later weeks. I encourage others to dm me with any ideas they have as well. That's why your prompt for this week is "Build a team with UPTO 3 colors of Pokemon only" Apart from this, there are no restrictions.

Here's a list of the pokemon sorted by color
You can also type
Code:
/ds, color, lc... for eg. /ds, red, lc would give you all red LC mons
in any ps room and just insert one of the 10 colors to get all LC Pokemon of that color

As usual deadline for the building phase of this cycle is Saturday midday PDT

Axew & The Green Machines
by winterbub

:bulbasaur:
Bulbasaur is our mandatory fighting resist and one of our two Knockers. Tera steel can help live a hit from Brave Bird Vullaby or make you immune to poison moves from mons like Stunky.

:axew:
Axew is our only Pokemon that is not grass type. Which also means it is our only fire resist. Most games will come down to whether or not Axew can find a Dragon Dance and get enough value. I opted for Scale Shot over Outrage or Dragon Claw because I like gambling, however you can slot whatever dragon move you like best. Stomping Tantrum gives us coverage for Tinkatink and Tera steel Pokemon. Protect lets us block Fake Out from Mienfoo and can also scout for Teras.

:cottonee:
Cottonee is a great support Pokemon for this team. Providing some speed control with Prankster Stun Spore and just having a respectable speed tier of 17. Tera fairy Dazzling Gleam will put Vullaby in the ground which this team very much appreciates. Memento allowed for Axew Dragon Dance setup.

:grookey:
Grookey provides a lot for this team. We get priority in Grassy Glide, item removal in Knock Off, and pivoting from U-Turn.

:skiddo:
Skiddo is a pretty cool setup Pokemon that can steal matches under the right conditions. With Grassy Pelt, Eviolite, and the healing from Grassy Terrain Skiddo has a lot of longevity. It can come in on grounds like Mudbray and Toedscool to Bulk Up. I have Tera steel to again resist Vullaby.

:sprigatito:
Choice Scarf Sprigatito is our speed on this team. I like to greed Adamant, but you can use Jolly if you don't want to speed tie Choice Scarf Growlithe Hisui. Protean allows Sprigatito to actually do damage with a STAB boost.

This team features a balance from the color wheel
but not a balance on typing or weaknesses.

Colorful at a Glance

:Corphish: :Litten: :Mareanie: :Chinchou: :Elekid: :Mienfoo:

:Corphish:

This overachiever packs extra damage with his adaptive ability to progress versus teams,
providing a wallbreaker & win con all in a neat shell.

Code:
Corphish @ Eviolite
Ability: Adaptability
Level: 5
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 196 Atk / 76 Def / 236 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Crabhammer
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off

:Litten:

This is a purr-fect addition to the team, providing immediate speed that Corphish was lacking,
as well as crippling foes and creating setup opportunities with Will-O-Wisp & Parting Shot.

Code:
Litten @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze
Level: 5
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 SpD / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Will-O-Wisp
- Parting Shot

:Mareanie:

Litten dislikes drawn out battles so the regen eases the pressure and stops the bleeding.
3 attack + recover helps to focus on keeping the tempo & pressure on.

Code:
Mareanie @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
Level: 5
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 116 HP / 100 Def / 252 SpA / 20 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Mud Shot
- Sludge Bomb
- Ice Beam
- Recover

:Chinchou:

With Corphish & Mareanie both sharing a weakness to electric,
having an immunity that offers decent speed & pivoting options for the team is huge.

Code:
Chinchou @ Eviolite
Ability: Volt Absorb
Level: 5
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 132 Def / 148 SpA / 220 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Volt Switch

:Elekid:

Even more speed, even more pivoting & coverage & even more ground type weakness! :boi:

Luckily we have tera to band aid fix this!! :worrywhirl:

Code:
Elekid @ Eviolite
Ability: Vital Spirit
Level: 5
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 12 Atk / 236 SpA / 236 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Punch
- Psychic
- Volt Switch

:Mienfoo:

It's another tera hog that helps pressure and clean. Could you guess it also pivots?!?!
Plus we get to fake a double regen core!! :v4:

Code:
Mienfoo @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
Level: 5
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 236 Spe
Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Close Combat

Closing Thoughts

This primary-school color wheel might be inaccurate to how pigmitation,
addative or subtractive light mix, but it is easy to explain to crayon eaters!

Good luck to everyone else in the teambuilding competition,
and remember: if you can’t outplay them, out color them!

double cool offense
:diglett-alola::vullaby::toedscool::mienfoo::tentacool::chinchou:

looks like im early for once, so here's a write up. my goal for this week was to build a team that was relatively viable while still incorporating a somewhat unique idea. i decided that building around two of the jellyfishes would be a fun experience. the cool thing about them is that their colors contain a lot of high tier mons, so you can actually have good results in games if your team is coherent enough.

:diglett-alola:
was searching brown mons to use because there are many strong ones and decided on dig, currently the best wallbreaker in the meta and helps threaten opposing chou. sub is a goated midground move and sucker helps in the mu vs guys like shellder and elekid.
:vullaby:
my second brown mon. vullaby and dig work very well together with vull capitalizing on diglett's soft checks like toedscool and mienfoo and uturning on its own checks to bring in dig again. tera steel is an emergency click for the shellder mu and also helps 1v1 mare, opposing vull, stunky, and much more™
:toedscool:
yes, it's a yellow mon. my dedicated mudbray check, also does nicely in ttm mus spreading knock and having a good offensive typing into tink, mare, etc. decided to put spikes on it because my team would not have any hazard setters otherwise.
:mienfoo:
decided on a scarf set for speed control. this guy is very useful vs opposing offense flipping the mus vs elekid, diglett, stunky, etc. also gives me another pivot for diggy.
:tentacool:
this guy is lowk underrated. foo resist, pivot, and spinner all in one means that you have a lot more room to greed other things in an offense team. gunk shot hits pretty hard too for a defensive mon. id encourage experimentation with tentacool outside of this team for sure. tera grass is for diglett elekid and chou though you wont be clicking it much
:chinchou:
needed a check to vull and opposing chinchou, and flip turn chou was the best i could do at this point (just lose the tie Lul). flip turn is really cool because you can pivot out on virtually anything. set's pretty self explanatory otherwise.

heres a game with the team that got me to top 10 on ladder

I've been saying that I think tent has solid untapped potential! While I'm not completely sold on grass as its best Tera type, I find it quite reasonable. Personally, I am also really happy about another Scarf Foo this week! If I were aiming for a more competitive team, I feel like you've stumbled upon something I’ve been eager to explore. I can't wait to try it out and make some adjustments!

Team of Unrelenting Christmas Cheer
:snover: :Sandshrew-Alola: :Silicobra: :Litten: :Grookey: :Voltorb:
Hey guys, this is my first post. Right off the bat I will say this team is kind of jank and I've only been able to reach 1400 on the ladder. That being said, it works surprisingly well and I've beaten some highly ranked players with it. The colors for my team are red, green, and white, because Christmas. And yes apparently Silicobra is green so it counts shh.

:Snover:
Literally the standard smogon snover set. You mostly want to use him to allow shrew to sweep, but ive noticed hes also a great check to chinchou and toeds among others. Also counters spore. But yeah standard snover.

:Sandshrew-alola:
You know the drill. With tera, this guy can sweep into a lot of checks like mienfoo. Beware reveling your tera too early or unnecessarily though. But yeah main win con of this team.

:Silicobra:
This is my favorite find of this team. I've never seen anyone really use him, but I think it has its place in the meta as a solid lead rocks setter. Glare sets it apart from other leads such as mud bray and glim (both of which it actually matches up well into). I think Silicobra has some unexplored potential currently.

:Litten:
It was hard for me to find a solid mienfoo counter for this team other than foongus, and I thought using him would make me too centralized around grass type. I also hate using foongus. Bring in utility Litten. Obviously you can cripple mienfoo with intimidate, parting shot, wisp. I also brought along taunt on this set to block set up sweepers like shellder on risky plays. I think this mon is ok with some serious drawbacks, it would be better with knock off. Fits the team well though.

:Grookey:
Simple choice band grookey set. He hits quite hard with stab grassy glide. This alone nullifies most scarf users for you. Drain punch for Shrew-a.

:Voltorb:
I think this pokemon is quite awful. But my options were limited. Also he literally looks like a Christmas ornament. And I needed some form of speed control, however bad. explosion for chinchou. Can get some sneaky kills with tera blast ice.

Overall I hope you try this team out and use it to spread some compulsory Christmas cheer and ruin people's day on the ladder. Happy holidays, thanks.
