[OVERVIEW]Water
========
Providing a key immunity to Electric-type moves as well as walling Pokemon such as Regieleki, defensive Zapdos, and Zeraora, Swampert is a good addition to any Water team. In addition, Swampert has access to a wide variety of utility moves, including Stealth Rock and Roar. It is also able to take hits in order to reliably set Stealth Rock multiple times during a battle. Its Water / Ground typing may turn out to be its eventual downfall, as Swampert is 4x weak to Grass-type attacks from Rillaboom, Tapu Koko, and Thundurus-T. Swampert suffers from constantly tanking hits from foes due to having no reliable recovery and therefore has little longevity. This prevents it from switching in and out of battle constantly, making Defog users a nuisance. Swampert can generate momentum with Flip Turn, preventing it from becoming passive.

[SET COMMENTS]
Swampert is able to set Stealth Rock in order to reduce the longevity of Pokemon that do not run Heavy-Duty Boots such as Choice Specs Zapdos. Earthquake is used to prevent Swampert from being strictly passive, allowing it to hit Electric- and Poison-types like Tapu Koko, Zeraora, and Toxapex. Roar not only takes advantage of the aforementioned Stealth Rock, but it allows Swampert to phaze setup sweepers such as Dragon Dance Dragapult and Dragonite, preventing it from becoming setup fodder. Flip Turn takes advantage of Swampert's little Speed investment to allow the player to gain momentum by having switch advantage. Swampert's EVs allow it to survive a Grass Knot from Choice Specs Tapu Koko and KO it back with Earthquake.
Almost all Water-type Pokemon benefit from the presence of Swampert on the team, as it is able to shield the rest of the team from Electric-type moves such as Rising Voltage and Thunderbolt, as well as set Stealth Rock. Notable mentions of Pokemon that benefit from Swampert being on a team are Pelipper and Mantine, as they both have a 4x weakness to Electric-type moves. Pelipper and Mantine can also switch into Ground-type moves to prevent Swampert from taking unnecessary damage. Pelipper can set rain for Swift Swim teammates that Swampert can pivot in via Flip Turn, and Mantine can use Defog for its teammates. Due to the aforementioned immunity, Swampert and Toxapex form a defensive backbone together, with Toxapex being able to take on physical attackers for Swampert such as Dragon Dance Dragapult and Dragonite. Toxapex can also absorb Toxic Spikes and Toxic for Swampert. Swampert assists wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Keldeo and Barraskewda.These wallbreakers are able to take care of walls such as Blissey, Porygon2, and Skarmory, which Swampert struggles against due to its passive nature. Choice Specs Keldeo especially is an amazing teammate for Swampert, as Flip Turn can bring it in to obtain KOs on both physical and special walls such as Blissey, Ferrothorn, and Celesteela. Choice Scarf Urshifu-R heavily benefits from the presence of Swampert, as it not only provides an aforementioned immunity to Electric but a special wall to take the special hits that Urshifu-R cannot. In turn, Urshifu-R can handle Dark- and Steel-type Pokemon such as Hydreigon and Ferrothorn for Swampert, as well as being able to revenge kill threats such as Tapu Koko and Zeraora. Tapu Fini prevents Swampert from being statused and can help Swampert avoid entry hazard damage with Defog. Tapu Fini also deals with Dragon-types that can wall Swampert such as Hydreigon, Kyurem, and Latios. Slowking also appreciates the aforementioned immunity as well, and Swampert appreciates a switch-in for certain special attackers such as Tapu Lele. Suicune is an excellent partner for Swampert due to its ability to stall out many bulkier Pokemon that Swampert would otherwise be unable to hit such as Celesteela. Slowking can form a pivoting core with Swampert, bringing in teammates like Barraskewda safely and then having them wreak havoc.

Other Options
=============
Water
--------
A set with Rindo Berry and Mirror Coat is able to catch threats such as Alolan Raichu, Tapu Koko, and Thundurus-T off guard. However, it severely reduces Swampert's HP, making it harder to bring it onto the field. Furthermore, this set can be scouted for with any chip damage. Toxic can be run over Roar in order to put bulkier walls such as Mantine and Mandibuzz on a timer; however, this prevents Swampert from phazing setup sweepers such as Hydreigon.
Checks and Counters
===================
Water
--------
**Bulky Water-types**: Pokemon such as Mantine and Rotom-W are immune or resistant to both of Swampert's offensive moves, in addition to having the ability to get rid of Stealth Rock via Defog. Mantine is particularly dangerous, as Swampert is also unable to use Flip Turn against it due to its Water Absorb ability.
**Physical Walls**: Bulky foes such as Celesteela and Mandibuzz can Toxic stall Swampert while being immune to Earthquake.
**Grass-types**: Due to having a 4x weakness to the type, Grass-type coverage can easily break past Swampert.
**Knock Off**: Knock Off can be used on Swampert to remove Leftovers, meaning it has no way to reliably recover HP. This in turn diminishes Swampert's ability to act as wall somewhat effectively and prevents it from consistently being able to set up Stealth Rock multiple times during a battle.
**Powerful Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Zapdos, Choice Specs Keldeo, and Nidoking pose an immense threat to Swampert due to its lack of reliable recovery.
**Status**: Like most walls, status conditions such as burn and poison severely hinder Swampert's ability to wall its foes.
