SwSh Battle Facilities Discussion & Records

Sure there's basically zero interest in the Tower nowadays, but I decided to get into it and hit my 50th win in the Classic ruleset (no Dynamax) last night! This is an ongoing streak, I'll try to update as I progress.

garchomp.gif

Garchomp @ Lum Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
Jolly Nature
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Scale Shot
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang

The glue of this team, Garchomp has always been great and the SwSh Tower is no exception. Thunder Wave immunity, good dual STAB, good base stats, and nice options make it able to sweep so often. One thing that’s really nice about Jolly Scale Shot Garchomp is that after the +1 boost, the only Pokémon that outspeeds you is Leon’s Cinderace-5 (normal Cinderace-5 is a speed tie), but its best move against you is Focus Blast which does a max of 35.5%, and even without Swords Dance you guarantee OHKO it with Earthquake. It’s also Scarfed, and so is locked into whatever it chooses against you. Even in the worst case of you fighting it, locking into something else means it won’t Electro Ball Toxapex, or if Toxapex is out and it locks into that, Garchomp gets a free switch. That is to say, once you get +1, you outspeed anything that even resembles a threat.

Swords Dance and Earthquake are pretty standard for Garchomp. There are plenty of options for Dragon STAB but I go with Scale Shot for the speed boost, ability to ignore sash, and because Outrage is too risky in my opinion since it locks you and guarantees a confusion. Fire Fang isn’t often needed, but provides nice coverage against Grass types who may not take a guaranteed OHKO from either other move, as well as hit some tricky Pokémon like Corviknight. Lum Berry is a pretty old-school item, but it still works well to prevent unfortunate statuses which might try to cripple its sweeping capabilities.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
Calm Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
- Baneful Bunker
- Icy Wind
- Scald
- Sludge Wave

Toxapex and Garchomp have great synergy. Its typing and bulk allow it great switch-ins to Ice and Fairy moves, with Sludge Wave hitting the latter type hard. This synergy is reciprocal as well, since Garchomp gets a free switch-in to any Electric attacks. Scald is standard Water STAB that can shut down physical attackers, while Baneful Bunker is an extremely versatile tool: guaranteed poison on a contact move, stalling to allow Black Sludge healing or poison chip, or just as a Protect to scout an enemy set. Icy Wind rarely gets used, but is instrumental in neutralizing certain sweepers (most notably Dragapult-2, which threatens both Garchomp and Azelf but is outsped by both of them at -1) and keeping speed boosters in check. Regenerator is also invaluable in a 3v3 format, since it gives Toxapex very strong longevity if an ally can come in safely. But even on the offensive, 252 SPA allows Toxapex to chip down anything that doesn’t immediately threaten it, and even get some serious damage in against things that do. Garchomp may be this team’s sweeper, but Toxapex has soloed plenty of matches.

azelf.gif

Azelf @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
Timid Nature
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic

Azelf sees less action than the previous two Pokémon, but is an important revenge killer with wide coverage the others lack. Levitate lets it get a free switch-in on Ground types that threaten Toxapex, and its typing means Psychic attacks don’t do much to it either. Choice Specs means it does not have to spend time setting up Nasty Plot and can just attack, having good coverage or simply STAB Psychic to muscle through opponents. While Choice locking is unfortunate, having an ally with Regenerator means that switching out to reset Choice is often a very viable move as Toxapex often takes less damage than it has recovered via Regenerator.
While this team doesn’t have a ton of weaknesses, it certainly does have them.

Mr. Rime: this is probably PTSD since my first streak was ended by this thing doing massive damage to my team, but this Pokémon counters quite a lot of my team. Set 1 packs Freeze Dry, Set 2 packs Icy Wind and Psychic, Set 3 packs Sucker Punch to threaten Azelf, and Set 4 packs Blizzard and Psychic. Despite threatening Azelf, Set 3 is actually the least dangerous here since it gets poisoned off of Baneful Bunker, and the only switch that does any real damage is Toxapex -> Azelf, since it will Zen Headbutt Toxapex. It will Sucker Punch Azelf (free switch to Garchomp) and Ice Shard Garchomp (at worst, Toxapex loses 1 HP after Black Sludge), which are not threatening. Thankfully, Mr. Rime is slow and all things considered not *that* strong, so Toxapex can figure out how to chip all the other sets before Azelf can Shadow Ball it, or even get in Garchomp and use Earthquake depending on the situation.

BoltBeam: The Holy Grail of coverage can be very difficult for this team, especially if it is a special attacker carrying it since it cannot be stalled with Baneful Bunker as effectively. Azelf usually has to take a hit on the switch in these sorts of scenarios, which is unfortunate and often leaves it vulnerable to statuses which completely cripple it.

Priority: this team relies on natural speed to win fights, and again while priority moves that can threaten the team are uncommon, they do exist. Any priority user gets to hit first unless it’s going into Baneful Bunker. Most priority is not overly dangerous, but can be if a Pokémon is weak, or Ice Shard which still forces Garchomp out in many cases.

Dragon Leads: ironic, given I’m using a Dragon lead. But Scale Shot is relatively low power, meaning it’s not always a safe guess at an OHKO before Swords Dance. It also gives -1DEF, meaning physical attackers following them may force a switch to protect Garchomp as it wants its Swords Dance. These leads can sometimes be hit or miss, since Toxapex has some very good matchups into some of them, but Scale Shot’s BP being fairly low does mean that unboosted it is fairly weak.
I try to keep a live commentary of some matches, namely all Leon ones and any that I almost lose so I can review them (spoiler, pretty much all the time it's due to me misplaying). Here are a couple from my current streak:

Battle 12: Second Leon fight (my previous streak ended the battle before him, so battle 2 of this streak was my first Leon). I was streaming on Twitch, but was my first time and didn’t remember to turn on saving broadcasts so this is going to be going off of memory mostly. He leads Mr. Rime, and I switch to Toxapex and it’s Rime-4. This is pretty bad for me — Blizzard will OHKO Garchomp if it connects and Chomp can’t unboosted KO Rime, Pex will be worn down to Psychic, and Azelf can’t OHKO with Shadow Ball (which isn’t a move I necessarily want locked in anyways). I get Rime low with a couple Sludge Waves, then send in Azelf and lock Thunderbolt for Charizard: but miraculously, he switches to Inteleon-4 on the first turn Azelf attacks, so the Sash is broken and it can’t outspeed me and it has no priority so it goes down next. I’m not 100% sure of the order of everything else (I intended to have a video…dumb me). I remember him using Overgrowth/Strike/Airstream with Charizard, and Hurricane missing on Pex so I can Scald for the KO. I still definitely had Garchomp. What I *believe* happened is that for some reason I switched out Azelf when Charizard came out instead of just sticking to Thunderbolt, which would be a bad move but I wasn’t thinking straight. Thunderbolt + Scald should be a guaranteed 2HKO there, and Rime was out anyways so long as someone that wasn’t Toxapex was still standing. Regardless of what happened, this was a scary fight because of Mr. Rime.

Battle 39: Rachel. I had a rough run-in with Galvantula a few runs ago: only one set can outspeed me (Galvantula-2, which is both a speed tie and a pretty non-threatening set) and I OHKO all of them with an unboosted Earthquake, but on one of my previous attempts I Swords Danced against Galvantula-4 but then went for Scale Shot instead of the free Earthquake and got KOed when Scale Shot missed. Needless to say, I absolutely did not learn my lesson to just Earthquake turn 1. She leads Galvantula-3 and I whiff Scale Shot while she uses Lunge, so I switch into Toxapex since Lunge is a guaranteed OHKO on Azelf. I bunker the first Volt Switch then it Volt Switches into Jolteon-4 but I hit it with Scald and get the burn. I Bunker a Thunder, but then Thunder connects next turn and Toxapex is down. In goes Garchomp, and I risk the Scale Shot just to get some boosted speed (since now Icy Wind is gone) and thankfully get it, taking Jolteon out after a Hyper Voice, but now Garchomp is in the yellow and +0 ATK. Braviary comes out, I Scale Shot for damage and it KOs me with Brave Bird. Thankfully, the damage is enough for Psychic to get the KO, and Psychic is a guaranteed OHKO on Galvantula-3.
Wow, this run lasted a...*shockingly* short time after this. Final tally comes in at 54 wins, with Battle 55 being the one to do me in.
Battle 55: Wilde. Out first is Froslass, which instantly forces a switch because it’ll OHKO Garchomp with any Ice move. It hits Toxapex with Ice Beam on the switch, and I Bunker to scout and it uses Spikes so Set 2. This is also unfortunately the set that outspeeds Garchomp and has a Salac Berry, so I hit it with two Icy Winds to get it slow and in EQ range, and it sets up another Spikes layer and then a Shadow Ball. Switch back to Garchomp and KO it with Earthquake, but I then have to switch again as Togekiss-3 comes out. I go into Toxapex, assuming I’ll take a Fairy move which I do (Play Rough). Thankfully this set is physical, so I can Bunker a Zen Headbutt next turn to poison it and get some free damage. Then comes Sludge Wave before a final Bunker before switching Azelf in on a ZH and KOing with Psychic. Unfortunately, the run-killer is out next: Mimikyu-4. I switch to Toxapex, and this is my mistake here. I don’t know what Mimikyu set is out yet, but the only one that can move before Azelf is Mimikyu-4, which couldn’t have OHKOed with Shadow Sneak here. So, I should have stayed and used Psychic to break the Disguise, but I don’t. Toxapex takes the Shadow Claw that is an OHKO on Azelf, and another probable misplay as I go for Baneful Bunker to try and poison but instead it uses Swords Dance. I’m actually completely boned now, as I have no priority and +2 Shadow Sneak will KO my entire team. Which it does. 3 Shadow Sneaks, 3 KOs, 1 ended streak.

Memo to self. Check the damage calculators. I would’ve seen that Azelf can take the Shadow Sneak from Mimikyu-4, which may not have guaranteed a victory but at least made one possible.
Was fun, and will be back in the Tower to try and get some more streaks.

Check your damage calculators, kids. Might just save your run!

I find SwSh Battle Tower to be too easy, but no-Dynamax (and no Restricted) challenge sounds interesting. If nothing else I can get to play as my SwSh avatar, which I like way more than BDSP and SV avatars.
Come join me in necro-ing the SwSh Tower! It's...certainly not the hardest facility even with the restrictions of Classic, but still has some fun teambuilding options and can require some know-how in scouting, as most trainers can run any of a Pokémon's sets and are not locked into using that set for all of their Pokémon. I have fun with it, since not only do you need to know how to counter the sets but also many of them need to be handled differently and you have to decide how best to mitigate the risk that you may guess the wrong set to counter.

And of course, if you ever need to farm BP for mints, dynamaxing and having zero Pokémon restrictions makes it a breeze.

Tried out a Rain team... and failed miserably. I switched to a Sand team instead and got 99 wins.
This team is unable to beat Leon without Dynamaxing, so I make an exemption against opponents with Dynamax Bands (though weirdly not all opponents with Dynamax Bands use them).

Tyranitar @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Stream
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Rock Slide
- Crunch
- Superpower
- Protect
Sand setter. Air Balloon gives it more switch-in opportunities around Excadrill. It can OHKO GMAX Charizard with Max Rockfall, but I prefer to leave it to Excadrill instead.

Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sand Rush
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Protect
Tyranitar's co-lead. This is the most reliable set for me, though it can't OHKO GMAX Charizard without Life Orb or crit. I've seen Charizard survive Max Rockfall from Excadrill and 1 Sand chip.

Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Flamethrower
- Dragon Pulse
- Protect
A Flying Intimidator, and a Dragon with the 100 Speed benchmark. It serves as the anti-Fighting mon in the team. It can also outspeeds Haxorus, Charizard, and even Cinderace and Dragapult (seriously, who designed Leon's Dragapult?). Air Slash's 5% miss chance is kinda scary, since there's still a chance that a Fighting Pokemon can crit on Excadrill or Tyranitar.

Amoonguss @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Protect
- Giga Drain
- Rage Powder
- Spore
Doubling down on the Fighting and Water resist. Amoonguss is here to break down the Water/Ground Pokemon that the team has trouble breaking through., or at least leave them in Earthquake KO range. It is also a great anti-Trick Room measure in case I fail to KO Bronzong and the like.

The team's biggest weakness is Water/Ice Pokemon, since it has no Ice resist and Rock Slide is so unreliable outside of Dynamax. If Dynamax were allowed at all times, I'd give Life Orb to Excadrill so it can reliable score more KOs with Max Moves, especially against Charizard. Perhaps I could switch Amoonguss with a Rotom form but Rotom is also less-than-100% reliable.

I lost to Leon, who managed to win the weather War with Rain Dance Seismistoad, and his Haxorus used Dragon Dance twice. My Excadrill was unable to OHKO his Charizard leading to a loss. This loss is more on my lack of game knowledge than on the team's shortcomings, so I think they did well.

Made a [=SunRoom=] team for [=SwSh=] Battle Tower. This team is notably very strong and consistent. It always defeat Leon without the need to Dynamax, though sometimes I do have to Dynamax against other Dynamax opponents. The team has earned a 120 win-streak and still counting.

Hatterene (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Expanding Force
- Dazzling Gleam
- Mystical Fire
- Trick Room

The Trick Room setter and sweeper. It sets up Trick Room on Turn 1 and spam Expanding Force afterwards. Dazzling Gleam hits Dark-types and Mystical Fire hits Steel-types. Thank goodness no NPC uses Heatran. Hatterene mostly functions well without any item, but Lum Berry and Kebia Berry are the best. Lum Berry serves as insurance against Blizzard freeze and Kebia protects Hatterene from Sludge Wave which Indeedee can't redirect.

Indeedee-F (F) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Follow Me
- Expanding Force
- Dazzling Gleam
- Helping Hand

Hatterene's partner-in-crime. It sets up Psychic Terrain and keeps Hatterene alive on turn 1 to use Trick Room. Normally Helping Hand provides more damage output than just attacking, but Indeedee can also attack if I suspect the opponent has Sturdy or Focus Sash.

Hatterene's be

Torkoal @ Charcoal
Ability: Drought
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Eruption
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Protect

Sun-boosted Eruption is the hardest-hitting spread move on a non-Legendary. Torkoal can shred through any Steel-type that Hatterene struggles with. It's the prime target to bring out after either lead goes down (hopefully Indeedee).

Conkeldurr @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- High Horsepower
- Rock Slide

Conkeldurr serves as an answer against Dark-types in case Dazzling Gleam doesn't KO. High Horsepower is also there to take down Poison- and Steel-types. Mach Punch may be odd for a Trick Room Psyspam team, but both Trick Room and Psychic Terrain tend to run out at the same time, so Conkeldurr has a means to attack first outside Trick Room.

The team's greatest threats are Rock Slide spammers. If Hatterene gets flinched twice by Rock Slide, it will have a hard time surviving long enough to set up Trick Room. Wide Guard is also mildly annoying, but opponents don't tend to use it twice in a row.

Sure there's basically zero interest in the Tower nowadays, but I decided to get into it and hit my 50th win in the Classic ruleset (no Dynamax) last night! This is an ongoing streak, I'll try to update as I progress.

MY OFFICIAL SMOGON INTRODUCTION

Hi everyone! I'm Christian, also known as Chris, so feel free to call me that or just use my username haha. I'm from Spain, so please forgive any English typos or grammar mistakes in advance; I’ll do my best to keep my posts as clear and readable as possible. This is my very first time posting in such a prestigious competitive Pokémon community. I've been a huge fan of this amazing franchise since I was a kid, and I mostly play 6v6 Singles. However, I recently decided to push myself competitively in Restricted Sparring, largely thanks to all the help, advice, and teams from top players available on this forum. That's why I'm here today: to share all my personal records, which I've achieved with a lot of hard work over a long period of time. I won't be posting all 18 types, but I do have 14 of them ready. I decided to drop the types I struggle with the most or those where the team comps didn't fully convince me, even though I managed to break the 20-win barrier with every single type as a personal goal!

In some cases, I used teams from other top players or based my builds on theirs with a few modifications. I will always give credit where credit is due by tagging those players, and I won't go too deep into explaining their exact teams. Instead, I want to focus on interesting nuances, such as my personal experiences, tips to help others, speed tiers (what can outspeed your lead or sub-lead), and how to handle specific threats

Since posting on forums is completely new to me, I'm not entirely sure if I can post all 14 records together in a single thread (or even alongside this introduction), or if there is a character limit per post that requires me to split them into 14 separate messages to upload them one by one. I also don't know how to insert Pokémon sprites or formatting yet, so I apologize in advance for any formatting mistakes due to my lack of experience. I hope to learn the ropes quickly so I can get everything properly formatted and ready as soon as possible!

I am incredibly excited to finally have the chance to be featured in those leaderboards that I’ve spent years checking to learn from. I've always dreamed of seeing my name up there next to all the top players I admire and thank so much for their passive help. AND FINALLY, MY DREAM IS COMING TRUE!

· EXPLANATION OF THE TEAM AND MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS:

For this challenge I used a team that is based on the one from sb879, but with some change of Pokémon as a personal nuance. I replaced her Salazzle with the Incineroar I learned from SilverstarStream's new WR, as it feels more solid and easier to handle. It balances the team by providing the option to intimidate opponents, boost its own stats, knock off the rival's items, and use Rest to recover both HP and status conditions like paralysis or badly poisoned.

· EXPLANATION OF THE TEAM AND MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS:

For this challenge I used a team that is based on the one from Jumpman16, but with some change of Pokémon as a personal nuance. Instead of Magnezone, I preferred to run a Special Attacker Raikou with its great Speed, Electric-type coverage for STAB, and Water-type coverage to cover its Ground weakness among other threats. It can also cause burns with a 30% chance to halve my opponent's Attack, along with the option to boost its stats with Calm Mind and recover HP and potential bad poisoning with Rest.

· Electric Immunity (Volt Absorb, Lightning Rod or Motor Drive):

May have this or another ability: Dedenne, Lanturn, Pikachu, Seaking and Emolga

PS: Rhyperior is already immune to Electric-type moves due to its Ground typing. However, it can possess the Lightning Rod ability. You should only worry about this in extremely niche scenarios, such as when using a team with Soak or attempting a Trick/Switcheroo strategy with a Ring Target; otherwise, you wouldn't be able to hit it with Electric-type moves anyway.

· EXPLANATION OF THE TEAM AND MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS:

For this challenge I used a team that is based on the one from sb879, but with some change of Pokémon as a personal nuance. In addition to giving Krookodile an Adamant nature to hit harder and ensure certain OHKOs without boosting—or even more with Moxie or Max Knuckle boosts, despite the risk of being outsped by faster threats—I also included the option to increase my Speed with Max Airstream. Furthermore, I decided to run Gastrodon to gain greater Special Defense bulk, even though I cannot heal upon switching into Water-type moves like Quagsire would.

· Ground Immunity (Levitate):

Always have the ability: Lunatone, Rotom and Solrock

· LEAD AND BACKUP LEAD TOTAL SPEED AT LEVEL 50 AND WHAT OUTSPEEDS YOU:

· Krookodile (144): Comfey (speed tie), Volcarona (speed tie), Kommo-o (after a Clangoroul Soul), Rotom, Zoroark, Drapion, Obstagoon, Dedenne, Emolga, Lopunny, Mienshao, Mantine (Swift Swim in rain), Froslass, Tauros, Whiscash (after a Dragon Dance), Swoobat, Cinccino, Starmie, Garbodor (after Blunder Policy), Kingler (after Agility), Salazzle, Alakazam, Boltund, Ribombee, Weavile, Scolipede (after a Speed Boost), Beartic (Swift Swim in rain), Barraskewda, Lilligant (after a Quiver Dance), Klinklang (after a Shift Gear), Accelgor, Sharpedo (after a Speed Boost), Cloyster (after a Shell Smash) and Sandslash (Sand Rush in sand)

Take advantage of the fact that you can boost your Speed by one stage every time you use Max Airstream while Dynamaxed!

However, one of the risks of running an Adamant nature is that even at +1 Speed after an Airstream, you will still be outspeeded by a Cloyster that has used Shell Smash. Be very careful with that, because it will destroy your Krookodile otherwise!

If Cloyster switches in and you have enough HP to preserve your Dynamax while already at +1 Speed, the optimal play is to use another Max Airstream. This allows you to chip him down while reaching +2 Speed, ensuring you outspeed him even after his Shell Smash boost. From there, you can capitalize on his Defense drops and finish him off with a Fighting-type move, taking advantage of your own Attack boosts from previous Max Knuckles or Moxie (provided your stats haven't been lowered previously, of course).

Switch to your most reliable defensive Pokémon or a special attacker if you don't want Froslass to burn you with Will-O-Wisp, especially if you haven't boosted your Speed yet, as it outspeeds you.

· Landorus-Therian (136): Braviary (speed tie), Mandibuzz (speed tie), Passimian (speed tie), Sharpedo, Skuntank, Heracross, Kingdra, Lycanroc-M (after Salac Berry), Comfey, Volcarona, Kommo-o (after a Clangoroul Soul), Rotom, Zoroark, Drapion, Obstagoon, Dedenne, Emolga, Lopunny, Mienshao, Mantine (Swift Swim in rain), Froslass, Tauros, Whiscash (after a Dragon Dance), Swoobat, Cinccino, Starmie, Garbodor (after Blunder Policy), Kingler (after Agility), Salazzle, Alakazam, Boltund, Ribombee, Weavile, Scolipede (after a Speed Boost), Beartic (Swift Swim in rain), Barraskewda, Lilligant (after a Quiver Dance), Klinklang (after a Shift Gear), Accelgor, Sharpedo (after a Speed Boost), Cloyster (after a Shell Smash) and Sandslash (Sand Rush in sand)

Take advantage of the fact that you can boost your Speed by one stage every time you use Max Airstream while Dynamaxed!

Be careful if Passimian comes in and you haven't boosted your Speed with Max Airstream; it’s a Speed tie, and if it uses Fling with the Light Ball, you'll be paralyzed. Fortunately, you carry Rest in this moveset.

· EXPLANATION OF THE TEAM AND MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS:

The idea behind this team is to lead with Mimikyu, using its free Disguise turn to safely set up a Swords Dance or immediately Dynamax to apply pressure. I can boost my Attack with Max Knuckle, usually securing at least a 2HKO, or use Max Phantasm for STAB damage while dropping the opponent's Defense. Although it has less power than Shadow Claw, the advantage of using Shadow Sneak is having more PP and, most importantly, priority outside of Dynamax. This allows you to hit first regardless of the opponent's Speed or Trick Room. If you need priority while Dynamaxed, you can use Max Guard (via Swords Dance) to stall and return to your normal state. If Psychic Terrain is active, you can override it with Max Starfall to regain your priority. Additionally, Drain Punch provides recovery and essential Fighting-type coverage against Steel-types.

The team's bulk comes mainly from Galarian Corsola, which is an incredible physical wall thanks to Eviolite. The strategy is to drop the opponent's Attack with Strength Sap while healing, burn them with Will-O-Wisp, and use Curse to wear them down. Haze allows you to reset the opponent's boosts upon switching in or reset their Attack if it gets too low to get a decent heal from Strength Sap.

Finally, Gengar provides balance against special threats like Fairy-type moves (such as Misty Explosion from Alcremie or Slurpuff), which it tanks easily with the Assault Vest (AV). It serves as a great backup lead when Mimikyu isn't used. With its base 110 Speed, I chose a Modest nature to hit harder and be more lethal with Max Ooze boosts and its coverage moves. It can even slightly increase its longevity by setting up Grassy Terrain with Max Overgrowth, even if the healing is minimal.

Remember that you have access to priority with Shadow Sneak as long as you are not Dynamaxed and Psychic Terrain is not active!

Switch to your most reliable defensive Pokémon or a special attacker if you don't want Froslass to burn you with Will-O-Wisp. This is necessary if you haven't boosted your Speed and lack access to Shadow Sneak while at +2 Attack. Since Froslass outspeeds you, you need that +2 (from a Swords Dance or two Max Knuckles) to guarantee the OHKO with Shadow Sneak and avoid getting burned.

· EXPLANATION OF THE TEAM AND MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS:

For this challenge I used a team that is based on the one from sb879, but with some change of Pokémon as a personal nuance. Using his incredible strategy of keeping Aerodactyl in the back holding a Sharp Beak: when the feared Barraskewda goes for an Earthquake against Nihilego (which is 4x effective), you can switch into Aerodactyl due to its Ground-type immunity. Since you outspeed it by 2 points—having 200 Speed while he has 198, likely due to 15 IVs or incomplete EV training—you can secure a OHKO with Fly thanks to the Sharp Beak, even without access to Dynamax. However, the creator of the strategy stated that if that 5% chance of missing the attack occurs, Barraskewda will automatically sweep your team 3-0. In his case, Coalossal takes 4x damage from a STAB Waterfall, but I decided to run a physically defensive Drednaw instead. Although it would still be heavily damaged by Close Combat in that situation, it provides great defensive balance by neutralizing several Rock-type weaknesses thanks to its Water typing, helping to save a streak in an emergency.

· EXPLANATION OF THE TEAM AND MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS:

For this challenge I used a team that is based on the one from Jumpman16, but with some change of Pokémon as a personal nuance. The difference is that instead of that highly defensive Appletun, I decided to try an offensive and fast Ludicolo. It has the option to heal while attacking with Giga Drain and tanks special hits better thanks to the Assault Vest, especially in battles where you Dynamax it to act as a provisional lead once Rillaboom is fainted. Furthermore, in that state, it can activate its ability to double its Speed by setting up Rain with Max Geyser. It also has excellent Ice-type coverage to take down Grass-type rivals or cover this monotype's weakness against Flying-types, among other utilities.

Pro-tip: if Talonflame hits the field, play smart by baiting switches between Ludicolo and Ferrothorn. The key is to switch into Ferrothorn when Talonflame uses Fly to resist the hit and chip away at its HP with Iron Barbs contact damage. Since the opponent will likely follow up with Overheat, switch back to Assault Vest Ludicolo to tank it easily thanks to its Water/Grass typing. This forces Talonflame to drop its Special Attack to -2. If it goes for Fly again and outspeeds you, don't panic: just bring Ferrothorn back in and repeat the cycle. By the time it goes for another Overheat and you switch to Ludicolo, its Special Attack will be at -4. This strategy allows you to gradually wear it down while minimizing the risk of getting swept by the bird that still brings back nightmares from Gen 6.

· Grass Immunity (Sap Sipper):

May have this or another ability: Azumarill, Bouffalant, Goodra and Miltank

· Special care with Azumarill, where you must secure with Max Airstream:

When using Gigantamax Rillaboom against Azumarill, I recommend using Max Airstream instead of G-Max Drum Solo. This secures the 2HKO and prevents it from setting up a Belly Drum, which would make it a massive threat. If it happens to have the Sap Sipper ability, using a Grass-type move would not only boost its Attack but also grant it a free turn to use Belly Drum. This is especially dangerous if your Gigantamax is about to end, as you won't be able to rely on Grassy Glide priority since Azumarill would be immune to Grass; if you are within range of being KOed by a +6 Aqua Jet, you would be exposing yourself to extreme danger: or even without priority, using Steel Roller or Body Slam; you will never be able to 2HKO it with a single Acrobatics, let alone with Low Kick, which is not very effective. Your Ludicolo wouldn't be able to win either since all its moves are not very effective, but the worst part is that this Ferrothorn set cannot touch it at all. In other words, Azumarill would sweep your entire team just because of one misplayed turn.

The only miraculous way for Ludicolo to win is if the first Scald burns Azumarill with that 30% chance to cut its attack in half and the following happens: Azumarill drops to 103 HP from Belly Drum, and without Huge Power due to the burn, its Body Slam only deals 47% damage. Since Ludicolo is faster, its resisted Scald (17% damage) combined with the passive burn chip drains Azumarill's remaining health so quickly that Ludicolo wins on Turn 3 with a final hit before Azumarill can secure the 2HKO.

· LEAD AND BACKUP LEAD TOTAL SPEED AT LEVEL 50 AND WHAT OUTSPEEDS YOU:

· Rillaboom (150): Drapion, Obstagoon, Dedenne, Emolga, Lopunny, Mienshao, Mantine (Swift Swim in rain), Froslass, Tauros, Whiscash (after a Dragon Dance), Swoobat, Cinccino, Starmie, Garbodor (after Blunder Policy), Kingler (after Agility), Salazzle, Alakazam, Boltund, Ribombee, Weavile, Scolipede (after a Speed Boost), Beartic (Swift Swim in rain), Barraskewda, Lilligant (after a Quiver Dance), Klinklang (after a Shift Gear), Accelgor, Sharpedo (after a Speed Boost), Cloyster (after a Shell Smash) and Sandslash (Sand Rush in sand)

Remember that you have access to priority with Grassy Glide as long as you are not Gigantamaxed and keep Grassy Terrain active! And take advantage of the fact that you can boost your Speed by one stage every time you use Max Airstream while Dynamaxed!

Switch to your most reliable defensive Pokémon or a special attacker if you don't want Froslass to burn you with Will-O-Wisp. This is crucial if you haven't boosted your Speed yet and lack access to Grassy Glide priority under Grassy Terrain—especially without at least one Attack boost to guarantee the OHKO—since it outspeeds you.

Remember that you are twice as fast under Rain and you can set it up yourself with Max Geyser while Dynamaxed to become the fastest Pokémon on the field!

If Passimian comes in and you haven't set up the rain with Max Geyser yet, switch immediately to Ferrothorn to absorb the paralysis from the Light Ball or to tank an Acrobatics and punish it with contact damage. If it pressures you with Drain Punch, you will still win the 1v1 through Leech Seed and Iron Barbs damage; it’s a 3HKO, and you can stay healthy with Leftovers and Protect while draining its HP every turn as it wears itself down.

· EXPLANATION OF THE TEAM AND MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS:

To be honest, this was a rather crazy and risky team that I devised during my early testing, and I was satisfied with the result. It’s simple to use and follows a 'do or die' philosophy. My lead is Pheromosa because it is incredibly fast and hits very hard. It takes advantage of its dual STAB moves, great coverage, Beast Boost with an Adamant nature, and Max Knuckle to significantly boost its Attack, becoming a lethal and almost unstoppable beast. The only safe switch-in is Golurk, as Urshifu serves as the backup lead. This Urshifu is based on the Water-type World Record lead I learned from CuneH8sVappy; it can heal with Drain Punch, boost its power with Max Knuckle (utilizing the high PP of Low Kick to spam it), set up Rain with Max Geyser to increase its Water-type damage, and boost its Speed with Max Airstream.

The final Pokémon, Buzzwole, is a Special Tank that can increase its physical bulk and power with Bulk Up. It heals and hits hard, covering its 4x Flying-type weakness with Thunder Punch. However, I would highly recommend Ice Punch instead; otherwise, you might suffer the nightmare I did: being left alone with Buzzwole against a Golurk. In that scenario, you literally cannot touch it with Fighting or Electric moves, and you're finished. In contrast, there are no immunities to Ice, providing much more security in those situations.

· LEAD AND BACKUP LEAD TOTAL SPEED AT LEVEL 50 AND WHAT OUTSPEEDS YOU:

· Pheromosa (203): Klinklang (after a Shift Gear), Accelgor, Sharpedo (after a Speed Boost), Cloyster (after a Shell Smash) and Sandslash (Sand Rush in sand)

· Urshifu (163): Lopunny (speed tie), Mienshao (speed tie), Mantine (Swift Swim in rain), Froslass, Tauros, Whiscash (after a Dragon Dance), Swoobat, Cinccino, Starmie, Garbodor (after Blunder Policy), Kingler (after Agility), Salazzle, Alakazam, Boltund, Ribombee, Weavile, Scolipede (after a Speed Boost), Beartic (Swift Swim in rain), Barraskewda, Lilligant (after a Quiver Dance), Klinklang (after a Shift Gear), Accelgor, Sharpedo (after a Speed Boost), Cloyster (after a Shell Smash) and Sandslash (Sand Rush in sand)

Take advantage of the fact that you can boost your Speed by one stage every time you use Max Airstream while Dynamaxed!

Switch to your most reliable defensive Pokémon or a special attacker if you don't want Froslass to burn you with Will-O-Wisp, especially if you haven't boosted your Speed yet, as it outspeeds you.

· EXPLANATION OF THE TEAM AND MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS:

The lead of this team is Tapu Lele because it has decent Speed and hits hard on the special side. Additionally, it sets up Psychic Terrain upon entering, which benefits the entire monotype team. It deals great damage with its dual STAB moves; I run Extrasensory because it has more PP than Psychic, and both reach 130 power when Dynamaxed. It also covers its Ghost-type weakness with Shadow Ball and provides further coverage with Thunderbolt.

Galarian Slowking is a fantastic and reliable Special Wall that can tank almost anything thrown at it from that category. It can boost its stats, heal, and attack with its secondary Poison-type STAB, while also having good Fire-type coverage against Steel-types that resist Psychic moves. Its main weakness is the inability to boost its Physical Defense and its low Speed; however, if you are within range of being knocked out and cannot afford to use Slack Off, having a safe switch-in like Cresselia allows you to trigger Regenerator to recover HP. Cresselia has higher Physical Defense but can also become more resilient and powerful on the special side with Calm Mind, dealing massive damage with Stored Power while covering its Dark-type weakness with Moonlight—keeping in mind that Dark-types are immune to this monotype's primary type. It can also heal itself, of course, and serves as an excellent switch-in for Galarian Slowking since its Ground-type weakness is perfectly covered by Cresselia’s Levitate ability on the switch.

Bold Nature

IVs: 0 Atk

- Calm Mind

- Soft-Boiled

- Stored Power

With Galarian Weezing, you can tank hits, especially on the physical side, with the option to burn opponents with Will-O-Wisp, clear their boosts with Clear Smog, and heal while wearing them down with Pain Split. This is why you run low HP and focus your EVs on being a mixed wall. Furthermore, it can Dynamax to better withstand hits, maximize Black Sludge recovery by using Max Guard in a pinch, boost its Special Attack with Max Ooze, or set up Misty Terrain with Max Starfall.

Clefable is a life insurance policy thanks to Unaware, as it isn't affected by the opponent's Attack or Special Attack boosts. Fortunately, no opponent has Mold Breaker to ignore this ability, except for Pinsir, which doesn't carry boosting moves like Swords Dance. This Clefable has good Physical Defense and can boost its Special Attack and Special Defense to become difficult to take down, eventually sweeping rivals with those boosts and Stored Power, alongside its main Fairy-type STAB. It is also very versatile if you face annoying Pokémon that boost their Evasiveness, such as Drapion or Barraskewda when they get lucky with Acupressure.

· LEAD'S TOTAL SPEED AT LEVEL 50 AND WHAT OUTSPEEDS YOU:

· Mimikyu (162): Lopunny, Mienshao, Mantine (Swift Swim in rain), Froslass, Tauros, Whiscash (after a Dragon Dance), Swoobat, Cinccino, Starmie, Garbodor (after Blunder Policy), Kingler (after Agility), Salazzle, Alakazam, Boltund, Ribombee, Weavile, Scolipede (after a Speed Boost), Beartic (Swift Swim in rain), Barraskewda, Lilligant (after a Quiver Dance), Klinklang (after a Shift Gear), Accelgor, Sharpedo (after a Speed Boost), Cloyster (after a Shell Smash) and Sandslash (Sand Rush in sand)

Remember that you have access to priority with Shadow Sneak as long as you are not Dynamaxed and Psychic Terrain is not active!

Switch to your most reliable defensive Pokémon or a special attacker if you don't want Froslass to burn you with Will-O-Wisp. This is necessary if you have lack access to Shadow Sneak while at +2 Attack. Since Froslass outspeeds you, you need that +2 (from a Swords Dance or two Max Knuckle) to guarantee the OHKO with Shadow Sneak and avoid getting burned.

· LEAD AND BACKUP LEAD TOTAL SPEED AT LEVEL 50 AND WHAT OUTSPEEDS YOU:

· Ludicolo (122): Seaking, Gallade, Goodra, Lycanroc, Scolipede, Stoutland, Talonflame, Butterfree, Flapple, Mr. Rime, Pinsir, Toxicroak, Meowstic-M, Lilligant, Pikachu, Porygon-Z, Thievul, Vanilluxe, Braviary, Mandibuzz, Passimian, Sharpedo, Skuntank, Heracross, Kingdra, Lycanroc-M (after Salac Berry), Comfey, Volcarona, Kommo-o (after a Clangoroul Soul), Rotom, Zoroark, Drapion, Obstagoon, Dedenne, Emolga, Lopunny, Mienshao, Mantine (Swift Swim in rain), Froslass, Tauros, Whiscash (after a Dragon Dance), Swoobat, Cinccino, Starmie, Garbodor (after Blunder Policy), Kingler (after Agility), Salazzle, Alakazam, Boltund, Ribombee, Weavile, Scolipede (after a Speed Boost), Barraskewda, Lilligant (after a Quiver Dance), Klinklang (after a Shift Gear), Accelgor, Sharpedo (after a Speed Boost), Cloyster (after a Shell Smash) and Sandslash (Sand Rush in sand)

SilverKnight (Corviknight) (M) @ Bright Powder

Ability: Mirror Armor

Gigantamax: Yes

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 116 Def / 132 SpD / 4 Spe

Impish Nature

- Bulk Up

- Roost

· EXPLANATION OF THE TEAM AND MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS:

I decided to use the team of CuneH8sVappy. But I chose to try Corviknight with the Gigantamax factor despite sacrificing Max Airstream and not having that potential speed boost, but with the option to break through Substitute or screens; and I distributed its EVs like the steel-type WR of EightVelociraptors.

Wow, big results dude... Congrats!!

Well... I decided to give the Fire Course a shot...

This actually was my second attempt, turns out leading Blacephalon was a bad idea.

Cinderace was MVP for the first 10 battles, while Blacephalon was the MVP for the later half.

The loss was because Volcarona got poisoned by a Garbodor and I had a Lebron James Reportedly Moment and Giga Drained a Sap Sipper Boufallant as a last ditch effort to survive.

Made it to 61 wins with this Tailwind team in Dynamax Doubles. I pretty much used the same composition like Suspicious Derivative, except for not caring about IVs and not going after the hidden abilities of Gyarados and Chandelure, mainly because I was too lazy farming the Dynamite Ore for Ability Patches. I think it wasn't really necessary either, but would helped in 2-3 cases when Lightscreen was used by the opponents, just to make the fight a little bit more clean.

I don't know if Dragon Dance on Gyrados is really necessary. I used it just once because I knew the enemy would use protect, but most of the time it was better to attack and make damage right away instead of preparing Gyarados moveset.

I primarely used the Dynamax feature on my Gyarados and only if I struggled with my opponent or to OHKO the Charizard of Leon. I think that was my mistake in the end, because I hesitatet too long in my last fight and lost it in the end. I'm sure my streak would be longer if I didn't tried to utelise Dynamaxing as less as possible. The team is pretty strong and I mostely struggled if I couldn't OHKO Oranguru and preventing him from using Trick Room or Tyranitar came up with his Sand Stream ability to counter the Focus Sash of my Whimsicott and often OHKO it in the first turn.

In general, the strategy was simple, just using Whimsicott's Tailwind immediately to gain the speed advantage and OHKO with Chandelure the first enemy Pokemon. His moveset allows always constincent damage and his Energy Ball was often stronger then Whimsicott's one too, even without STAB. For me the MVP of this team, but quite fragile.

Maybe I try some more runs with this team to get more experience in utelising it and achieving a higher record.
