[OVERVIEW]
- Versatile and powerful offensive Pokemon that makes use of it's great speed and coverage to clean.
- Great speed tier that just jumps 120s and below, notable Kerfluffle, Serperior, Latios, and Keldeo.
- Good mixed offensive stats combined with a very wide movepool to act as a competent lead, spike stacker, revenge killer, and cleaner.
- Ice, Ground, and Bug coverage hits the entire metagame for at least neutral damage, and allows Syclant to threaten out a variety of top threats such as Landorus-t, Zygarde, Colossoil, Tomohawk, Jumbao, and Mew.
- Mountaineer is Syclant's signature ability and negates Syclant's 4x Stealth Rock weakness, which makes Syclant one of the best U-turn abusers in the tier, as well as a competent Focus Sash user.
- Limited by how frail it is and it's poor defensive typing, as well as it's liability to faster revenge killers such as Greninja, Ash Greninja, Mega Manectric, and Tapu Koko.

item: Life Orb / Focus Sash
ability: Mountaineer
nature: Naive
evs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Moves
========

- Ice Beam is Syclant's most reliable STAB move, and importanly scores the OHKO on all Landorus-T, Colossoil and Zygarde.
- Ground-type coverage is great for Heatran, Tapu Koko, and Mega Crucibelle. Earthquake gives some important KOs on Pokemon such as Toxapex and Assault Vest Magearna. Earth Power allows Syclant to OHKO offensive Tapu Koko, while also breaking Magearna and Naviathan with a 2HKO on both sets while outspeeding.
- U-turn allows Syclant to pivot in the early game to help soften up the opposing team before it can clean.
- Similar with Greninja, Syclant is an excellent spike setter. You can guarantee getting up a layer if you run Focus Sash.
- Hidden Power Fire lets you beat Ferrothorn and gives you teeth against Celesteela and Cawmodore.

Set Details
========
- Naive nature is preferred to allow Syclant to outspeed Kerfluffle while retaining damage output.
- You could run Modest, but you will be slower than Latios, Kartana, and Mega Crucibelle.
- Life Orb gives Syclant consistent damage and helps net kills on Naviathan, Magearna, and guaranteed OHKOs max HP Jumbao and offensive Pajantom after Stealth Rock damage.

Usage Tips
========
- U-turn when your checks are alive and you predict a switch.
- Ice Beam and Earth Power later in the match when your checks are weakened.
- If you're running a Hyper Offensive team, don't be afraid to sack Syclant for a layer of Spikes.
- If you're facing Hyper Offense, consider keeping Syclant in the wings to serve as your emergency plug on their set-up sweepers.

Team Options
========

- Volt Turn teammates, notably Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, Magearna, and both Greninja formes. Greninja formes are especially relevant since they can set up Spikes for Syclant to take advantage of, and both Pokemon put a lot of pressure on common hazard removers in conjunction with Syclant. Heatran absorbs Fire-type attacks and appreciates Syclant's ground resist. They can both set up a good set of hazards together. Also pairs well with bulky Grass-type Pokemon like Jumbao and Tangrowth since it OHKOs both Zapdos and Tornadus-T with Ice Beam.

[SET]
name: Tail Glow
move 1: Tail Glow
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Earth Power
move 4: U-turn
item: Focus Sash / Icium Z
ability: Mountaineer
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

- Tail Glow is the focus of the set. Give you mind-boggling power with an amazing speed tier.
- Ice Beam and Earth Power provide amazing coverage that will only truly struggle against Mega Scizor, Arghonaut, and specially defensive Pokemon.
- U-turn lets you scout a double switch, before or after you boost. Lets you escape Arghonaut and Pursuit trappers.

Set Details
========
Maximum speed is required. Syclant is so frail that it really needs to run Focus Sash. If you're looking to nuke, Icium is a moderate choice, providing the ability to break through Mega Scizor.
Bug Buzz is available for STAB if you're looking to OHKO Aurumoth or take on Slowking. Ice Shard isn't entirely wasteful if you need a form of priority on your team, but it isn't particularly powerful without Life Orb.

Usage Tips
========

Set up Tail Glow and click Ice Beam.

I'm, at the moment, mostly interested in what sets we should list here. I'm thinking about combining the first two, since they're almost identical outside of Spikes and item choice. Tail Glow definitely should get its own set. Specs, imo, isn't good enough to have its own set. Same story with scarf. So am I fine to just do the two sets (Offensive and Tail Glow)?
Offensive and Tail Glow definitely should be the only two sets. Scarf should definitely go in OO. Not sure about specs or anything like that. These are the two sets:

Syclant @ Life Orb / Focus Sash
Ability: Mountaineer
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Spikes / Hidden Power Fire

For this set, Earthquake is actually much better than Earth Power, especially with Life Orb. There's no real benchmark for EVs after 4 Atk EVs, as they push low roll against Volkraken into an OHKO after Stealth Rock, and you need 252 SpA EVs for Life Orb Ice Beam to OHKO Tomohawk. Earthquake is helpful because most of targets Ground-type coverage hits is specially defensive; think AV Magearna, Toxapex, Volkraken, and Mega Crucibelle. Even with Focus Sash variants, Earthquake actually guarantees an OHKO on Mega Crucibelle. The only time I found Earth Power slightly more useful was against Tapu Koko, which is still a 2HKO, and against 252 HP Heatran with Focus Sash variants, because you need 88 Atk EVs for EQ to KO after Stealth Rock, but 252 SpA Earth Power reaches the same benchmark. Maybe that qualifies as a mention, but either way, Earthquake is usually better. Not sure if Taunt is particularly useful anymore, but Hidden Power Fire is pretty nice to catch Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor on the switch with. Spikes are definitely more useful though.
252 SpA Life Orb Syclant Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 133-156 (43.8 - 51.4%) -- 60.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery
4 Atk Life Orb Syclant Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Toxapex: 148-177 (48.8 - 58.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

252 SpA Life Orb Syclant Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 101-122 (27.8 - 33.6%) -- 33.3% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
4 Atk Life Orb Syclant Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 190-224 (52.3 - 61.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Syclant Earth Power vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Crucibelle-Mega: 296-352 (83.6 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 Atk Syclant Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Crucibelle-Mega: 416-492 (117.5 - 138.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Life Orb Syclant Earth Power vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Volkraken: 234-276 (68.4 - 80.7%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
4 Atk Life Orb Syclant Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Volkraken: 257-304 (75.1 - 88.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
Syclant @ Focus Sash / Groundium Z / Icium Z
Ability: Mountaineer
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- U-turn

Focus Sash is still usually the best item due to Syclant's frailty, but Groundium Z powers through most of Syclant's usual stops. Icium Z nukes basically anything in front of it though, so it can be useful. We're dropping Bug Buzz because U-turn is too useful for pulling out Arghonaut, the hardest stop to this set, and potentially having a teammate take it out or at least pressure it somehow. Bug Buzz really only makes a difference against Slowking, but it's vulnerable to Pursuit trap. it also hits Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar harder. Maybe a mention, but not really seeing it being too useful, especially with U-turn. Maybe also mention Hidden Power Fire, which OHKOs Ferrothorn without burning a Z-Move.

- Ground-type coverage is great for Heatran, Tapu Koko, and Mega Crucibelle. Earthquake gives some important KOs on Pokemon such as Toxapex and Assault Vest Magearna. it's important to be really specific about eq - seems weird to run it with only 4 atk evs so show why it's much better than ep, at least with LO Earth Power allows Syclant to OHKO offensive Tapu Koko, while also breaking Magearna and Naviathan with a 2HKO on both sets while outspeeding. AV mag is a 4HKO - ig you could put SG mag but you'd have to catch it on the switch
- U-turn allows Syclant to pivot in the early game to help soften up the opposing team before it can clean.
- Similar with Greninja idk if you should mention gren here, Syclant is an excellent offensive spikes setter. You can guarantee getting up a layer if you run Focus Sash.
- Hidden Power Fire lets you beat Ferrothorn and gives you teeth against Celesteela and Cawmodore. steela and cawm are hit harder by ice beam, what it does is hit ferro harder and catch mscizor on the switch

Maximum speed is required. Syclant is so frail that it really needs to run Focus Sash it's more that sash lets you set up more easily, while Z makes it easy to bust stuff up. If you're looking to nuke, Icium is a moderate choice, providing the ability to break through Mega Scizor.
Bug Buzz is available for STAB if you're looking to OHKO Aurumoth or take on Slowking. Ice Shard isn't entirely wasteful if you need a form of priority on your team, but it isn't particularly powerful without Life Orb. move Bug Buzz and Ice Shard to OO

explain EVs and Mountaineer
