move 3: Hidden Power Ice
move 4: Sleep Powder
item: Rocky Helmet
ability: Regenerator
nature: Relaxed
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Tangrowth's immense physical bulk in conjunction with Regenerator makes it a very sturdy check to Pokemon such as Rillaboom, Kartana, Mega Lopunny, and Landorus-T without Flyinium Z. It also has access to useful utility moves such as Sleep Powder and Knock Off, which can punish Pokemon such as Heatran, Zapdos, and Kyurem that would switch in rather freely otherwise. Unfortunately, Tangrowth doesn't effectively deal with some very common physical attackers, such as Victini, Mega Scizor, and Weavile, and its terrible special bulk leaves it open to threats such as Kyurem, Tapu Lele, Life Orb Clefable, and Heatran. A lack of reliable recovery also leaves it open to very powerful physical wallbreakers such as Dragonium Z Garchomp, Mega Mawile, and Mega Medicham. Knock Off cripples common switch-ins such as Heatran and Zapdos. Hidden Power Ice is the preferred coverage move, dealing big damage to Landorus-T and Garchomp while also working together with Giga Drain to force Gliscor to spam Roost in order to avoid fainting. Hidden Power Fire can also be used, however, to force immediate damage onto Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Kartana, but losing pressure on the aforementioned Ground-types is very detrimental. Sleep Powder allows Tangrowth to put a foe out of commission completely, therefore giving a teammate a free switch in and punishing a threat such as Mega Latias, Corviknight, or Clefable. Rocky Helmet allows Tangrowth to chip down physical attackers such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Mawile, and Kartana, therefore making it less passive overall. A Relaxed nature is preferred, as Tangrowth uses both of its attacking stats and its Speed is already very low.

Tangrowth fits on balance teams that need a very sturdy check to physical attackers such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana, and Rillaboom. Ground-types work well with Tangrowth, as they appreciate Tangrowth taking on Water- and Grass-types like Rillaboom, Kartana, and Mega Swampert. They are capable of blocking Volt Switch from the likes of Tapu Koko and Magnezone, as Tangrowth is not a suitable check to any of these on its own. Examples such as Garchomp and Gliscor work well to check the aforementioned while also switching into Heatran. These Ground-types can also can set Stealth Rock, which is important for Tangrowth, as it allows its team to better pressure dangerous Fire-types such as Mega Charizard Y, Victini, and Heatran. Tangrowth's special bulk is meager, so having a very bulky specially defensive wall is recommended. Specially defensive Heatran pairs well with Tangrowth, as it can take on threats such as Zapdos, Life Orb Clefable, and Tapu Lele. Mega Tyranitar can also help Tangrowth out against Heatran, Reuniclus, and Mega Latias. Slowking can deal with threats such as Heatran and Tapu Lele. Tapu Fini also pairs well with Tangrowth due to it taking care of Ash-Greninja as well as Heatran, while Blissey can also act as a general sponge to Ash-Greninja, Kyurem, Tapu Koko, and Mega Charizard Y. These teammates appreciate Tangrowth taking care of dangerous physical attackers, such as Landorus-T, Gliscor, Mega Lopunny, and Rillaboom. Tangrowth needs good entry hazard removal on its side, as hazard damage can put it in range of some of the tier's stronger wallbreakers, such as Weavile and Swords Dance Mega Mawile. Zapdos, Tapu Fini, and Excadrill are all potentially good partners as a result. Additional checks to physical attackers Tangrowth can't deal with are also beneficial; Toxapex or Melmetal can take care of Weavile, while Corviknight can work with a revenge killer that can finish off Ground-types, such as Weavile or Ash-Greninja, to deal with Swords Dance variants of Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. Teammates like Swords Dance Garchomp and Mega Mawile appreciate Sleep Powder giving them a setup opportunity.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Sludge Bomb can be used over Sleep Powder to hit opposing Grass-types such as Rillaboom, opposing Tangrowth, and Serperior, but most of them dislike Knock Off and Hidden Power Ice anyway or have a secondary typing that removes their weakness to the move. A set utilizing Infestation and Worry Seed can trap Gliscor and remove its Poison Heal. This also allows Tangrowth to more easily run Hidden Power Fire. Earthquake can be used over Sleep Powder to surprise Heatran, Tapu Koko, and Magnezone on the switch while allowing Tangrowth to more effectively check Excadrill. Stun Spore can also be used to push paralysis onto threats such as Mega Charizard Y, Heatran, and Corviknight. Rock Slide can be used over Sleep Powder, as it nails Mega Charizard Y, Moltres, and Volcarona as they switch in, but Tangrowth's other moves tend to be more consistently useful.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Mega Charizard Y easily breaks through Tangrowth and takes minimal damage from anything bar the extremely rare Rock Slide. Mega Charizard X, Heatran, Victini, and Moltres are threatening as well, but the latter three dislike Knock Off, and the former three have to be careful to not blunder into an Earthquake.

**Flying-types**: Flyinium Z Landorus-T can lure in and dispose of Tangrowth as it switches in, but it can't set up on it due to the threat of Hidden Power Ice. Hawlucha, Zapdos, and Mega Pinsir can also use their STAB moves to break through Tangrowth. Tangrowth also can't do much to defensive Flying-types like Corviknight and Zapdos except remove their item or potentially put them to sleep.

**Ice-types and Ice-type coverage**: Weavile and Kyurem are capable of busting through Tangrowth with their powerful STAB moves, although Weavile will take heavy damage due to Rocky Helmet if it uses Triple Axel on Tangrowth, and neither wants to eat Knock Off. Ice-type coverage from Slowbro and Mega Latias can also prove problematic.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Tangrowth's meager special bulk means that strong special attackers such as Mega Latios, Kyurem, and Tapu Lele can all break through it with relative ease, although they must watch out for Sleep Powder and coverage moves, and they should confirm that the Tangrowth is not a rarer Assault Vest variant. The lack of special bulk also leaves Tangrowth wide open to Future Sight from the likes of Slowbro and Slowking, which can prevent it from effectively dealing with physical attackers like Mega Lopunny and Tyranitar.

**Grass-types**: Mega Venusaur completely walls Tangrowth and can threaten it with Sludge Bomb. Amoonguss doesn't love taking Knock Off but also effortlessly forces out Tangrowth. Certain offensive Grass-types, such as Swords Dance Kartana and Serperior, are also capable of taking care of Tangrowth once they boost up.

**Mega Sableye**: Mega Sableye takes virtually no damage from any of Tangrowth's standard moves, denies progress-making by absorbing Knock Off and Sleep Powder, and proceeds to cripple it with a burn.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Tangrowth makes use of its excellent bulk in conjunction with its decent defensive typing and access to Regenerator to become one of the best defensive pivots in National Dex.
  • Tangrowth's typing and bulk allows it to check several extremely threatening breakers, such as Mega Metagross, Zygarde, Kartana, and Dracovish with a physically defensive spread. (Merge the Pokemon it checks with the first bullet points, as you are repeating its qualities unnecessarily here)
  • Alternatively, Tangrowth can run Assault Vest to shore up its otherwise mediocre special bulk. This allows it to check threats such as Mega Blastoise, Ash-Greninja, and Magnezone.
  • Tangrowth's access to Knock Off also gives it use in the effort to wear down the opposing team allows it to cripple switchins such as Rotom-Heat and Volcarona, while access to useful coverage for huge threats such as Zygarde and Heatran allows it to pull its weight in the vast majority of matchups.
  • Unfortunately, Tangrowth's Grass-typing also gives it several exploitable weaknesses that can be taken advantage of by common Pokemon such as Genesect, Volcarona, and Galarian-Darmanitan.
  • It also doesn't hit especially hard if it isn't hitting something Super Effectively, which can be taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Corviknight, Mega Scizor, and Rotom-Heat. (Explicitly state that it is passive at times due to this)
  • Both sets also dislike Knock Off, with the Assault Vest set especially losing its ability to consistently check the Pokemon that it is usually tasked with dealing with.

Set Description
========

  • Giga Drain is the preferred Grass STAB due to its reliability and its added benefit of healing Tangrowth a little bit. No need to explain
  • Knock Off allows Tangrowth to annoy just about everything (Be specific; give examples) , scout for Z-Crystals, and cripple Pokemon such as Tapu Fini, Ferrothorn, and Chansey, all of whom rely greatly on their item. (This amounts to the same thing)
  • Hidden Power Ice allows Tangrowth to become one of the few relatively consistent checks to Zygarde. It also hits Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor.
  • Sleep Powder gives Tangrowth the ability to put anything that isn't a Grass-type (This is quite frank) the foe out of commission for a few turns, which can preserve momentum by allowing one of your Pokemon to set up, or preventing the opponent from doing so, in addition to preventing things such as Toxapex and Clefable from setting up hazards.
  • Earthquake can be used over Sleep Powder in order to allow Tangrowth to threaten more damage onto the likes of Mega Metagross and Z-Move Aegislash, as well as potentially surprising Heatran on the switch.
  • Rocky Helmet is used to chip down Pokemon such as Mega Metagross, Mega Lopunny, and Kartana.
  • A Relaxed Nature is preferred, as Tangrowth doesn't want to decrease either of its attacking stats and its speed is already very low.

Usage Tips
========

  • Don't be afraid to directly switch this Tangrowth into physical attackers it is supposed to beat, such as Mega Lopunny and Mega Swampert. Do be wary of blundering into a stray Toxic from the likes of?, however, as Tangrowth dislikes being hit with the status condition that often sacrifices its staying power against Pokemon it otherwise checks reliably. (This way, it is imminently clear why Tangrowth dislikes Toxic; don't reference other sets)
  • Knock Off is generally a very safe move to use on this set early-game, as virtually nothing really wants to lose its item. This can also be used to let Tangrowth's team know where the opponents Z-Move is.
  • Sleep Powder should usually be used after Tangrowth has forced something out in order to incapacitate what switches in. Try to make sure that whatever switches in is a big threat to your team so you can potentially take advantage of said threat being neutered for the time being. After putting something to sleep, pivot into a teammate that can take advantage of the situation, or use the opportunity to Knock Off another item.
[Definitely mention the fact that you need to avoid most special attackers at all costs, unless you are absolutely positive you can take them on (e.g. Rotom-Wash)]

Team Options
========

  • Tangrowth is an excellent choice for balance teams that need a defensive backbone to back up their damage dealers.
  • Something with significant special bulk is appreciated, as Tangrowth really struggles with strong special attackers. Specially Defensive Heatran in particular has amazing defensive synergy with Tangrowth; Heatran beats threats to Tangrowth such as Genesect, bulky Volcarona, and Dragapult, while Tangrowth returns the favor by dealing with Zygarde, Mega Metagross, and Dracovish. Heatran also sets up Stealth Rock for Tangrowth as an added bonus, allowing it to really take advantage of its role as a defensive pivot.
  • Water-types in general pair very well with Tangrowth thanks to their great defensive synergy. Tapu Fini is a great partner that can check strong special attackers like Mega Blastoise and Ash-Greninja while also providing Defog and Misty Terrain support. Toxapex also pairs well with Tangrowth, as its Toxic Spikes can really take advantage of Tangrowth's ability to force switches while also having considerably more bulk on the Special side. Tangrowth, in the meantime, can take Electric- and Ground-type attacks aimed at Toxapex, all the while forming a difficult to break Renegerator core.
  • Tangrowth usually finds its home on balance teams, where many users of Volt Switch and U-turn fit well. These naturally synergize well with Tangrowth thanks to their pivoting abilities allowing it to get in with greater ease. Partner's such as Rotom-Heat, Greninja, and Tornadus-Therian work well as a result. (Tangrowth really doesn't need VoltTurn support; it is quite capable of directly switching into what it checks)
(Explicitly mention entry hazard removers, as Tangrowth can be put into 2OHKO range quite frequently without.)

Set Description
========

  • Knock Off has the always useful benefit of removing items and scouting for Z-Moves, as well as being a generally safe move to throw out in most situations.
  • Hidden Power Ice hits Zygarde while still hitting Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor hard as well.
  • Earthquake is largely used to lure and destroy Heatran. It also hits other Steel-types, such as Aegislash and Mega Metagross, pretty hard.
  • 12 Defense EVs prevents Tangrowth from being 2HKOd by Mega Swampert's Ice Punch and Mega Metagross's Meteor Mash. The rest is dumped into Special Defense to allow Tangrowth to take full advantage of Assault Vest.
  • A Sassy Nature is used so that Tangrowth can bolster its Special Defense while not impacting either of its attacking stats.

Usage Tips
========

  • Use Assault Vest Tangrowth to force switches onto check Pokemon such as Tapu Fini, Zygarde, and Rotom-Wash. (Ash-Greninja and Mega Blastoise are more important mentions than Tapu Fini and Rotom-Wash. Moreover, Tapu Fini cripples you with Knock Off)
  • Assault Vest Tangrowth needs to be played carefully, as it does not check or switch into a lot of what it is tasked with if it is not at near-full health. Staying as healthy as possible is imperative in it's quest to deal with Mega Blastoise and Ash-Greninja. Play carefully to make sure that hazards are off the field of play before you send in Tangrowth to deal with these threats.
  • Be wary to not overestimate Assault Vest Tangrowth's bulk on either side of the spectrum. It's Physical bulk, while still impressive, can be broken through by powerful attackers like Mega Medicham, Swords Dance Aegislash, and Dracovish. It also can't actually switch into deal with most powerful special attackers on the long term, as both Mega Blastoise and Ash Greninja can burst through it if it attempts to switch in, although Ash-Greninja needs hazards to confirm the kill overwhelm it eventually. This isn't to say that Assault Vest Tangrowth isn't an effective choice in the metagame, but it must be played cautiously around some of the more powerful breakers in the metagame. (This gives the wrong impression of how to use Assault Vest Tangrowth. It should be used to pivot into what it checks, and should generally avoid wallbreakers altogether.)
Explicitly mention the fact that you should use Knock Off liberally early-game in order to cripple as much as you can, while simultaneously scouting Z-moves. Also mention that you should strive to weaken the Pokemon it is supposed to check with super effective coverage; give examples here. Furthermore, you should definitely mention that it needs to avoid Knock Off.

Team Options
========

  • Assault Vest Tangrowth finds its home on balance and bulky offense teams that need a solid defensive core to back up the rest of the squad.
  • Water-types, especially ones that can take a hit from the physical side, are great partners. Slowbro is an exceptional partner for this set, as it can take on physical attackers that this set dislikes, such as Dracovish, Galarian Darmanitan, and Mega Medicham. Tangrowth in return can check special attackers such as Ash-Greninja and Mega Alakazam. Other Water-types such as Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Seismitoad make for good partners as well, with Toxapex in particular also checking Mega Charizard Y. Just be sure to keep in mind to pack a backup check to Rotom-Heat if the Water you are running isn't immune to Electric.
  • Heatran is once again a great partner, thanks to its excellent defensive synergy and its ability to set up Stealth Rock to capitalize on Tangrowth's ability to force switches. (Mention what Tangrowth does in return)
  • Assault Vest Tangrowth really appreciates hazard removal support, as it must be as healthy as possible if it aims to check what it is usually tasked with. Tapu Fini, Tornadus-Therian, and Corviknight make for good partners as a result. Tapu Fini is an especially good partner, as it aids Tangrowth in its quest to wall several special attackers by also taking care of Ash-Greninja and Mega Blastoise, while also giving it Misty Terrain support.

(Energy Ball and Power Whip on Assault Vest are notable for their ability to directly OHKO Mega Blastoise after Shell Smash. Power Whip also pressures the likes of Mega Alakazam and Tapu Lele much better than any other move)
  • Sludge Bomb can be used over what move? to hit opposing Grass-types such as Tapu Bulu and Serperior, but most of them dislike Knock Off anyway or have a secondary typing that makes them immune to or has them damaged neutrally by the move.
  • Rock Slide nails Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Rotom-Heat, but Tangrowth's other moves tend to be more consistently useful. Over what move?
  • Hidden Power Fire hits Ferrothorn, Kartana, Genesect, and Mega Scizor, but Hidden Power Ice is much too important to give up in most scenarios. (State the fact that Hidden Power Fire should be used with Grass Knot in order to still break Zygarde's Substitutes)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-Types**: Mega Charizard Y has the muscle to break past even Assault Vest Tangrowth and takes minimal damage from anything bar the extremely rare Rock Slide. Rotom-Heat, Heatran, and Volcarona are all extremely threatening as well, but all of them dislike Knock Off, and Heatran has to be careful to not blunder into an Earthquake.

**Bug-types** Genesect, Mega Scizor and Volcarona all threaten Tangrowth with their STAB moves, and Genesect and Mega Scizor can gain momentum with U-turn. Both Genesect and Mega Scizor can set up on Tangrowth assuming that Sleep Powder has been used. They must watch out for the rare Hidden Power Fire, however, and Volcarona doesn't want to eat a Rock Slide.

**Flying-Types**: Tornadus-Therian slams Tangrowth with Hurricane, and can use U-turn to pivot as it forces Tangrowth out. Hawlucha can break past with Acrobatics, and Flyinium Landorus can lure in and dispose of Tangrowth as it switches in, but it can't set up on it due to Hidden Power Ice. (This should definitely go over Bug-types)

Set Description

  • Knock Off allows Tangrowth to cripple Pokemon reliant on their item such as Ferrothorn, Chansey, and Tapu Fini Rotom-H, as well as scout for Z-moves. Tangrowth will never get to use Knock Off against Tapu Fini. Rotom-H makes much more sense as it's actually fairly reliant on its Heavy-Duty Boots to consistently switch into play.
  • Hidden Power Ice allows Tangrowth to become one of the few relatively consistent checks to Zygarde. It also hits Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor.
  • Sleep Powder gives Tangrowth the ability to put the enemy out of commission for a few turns, which can preserve momentum by allowing one of your Pokemon to set up, or preventing the opponent from doing so, in addition to preventing things such as Toxapex and Clefable from setting up hazards. Sleep Powder is useful because it punishes common checks such as Tornadus-T, Heatran, and Volcarona. This bullet point should focus on that, instead of vaguely glossing over it, as it is the main appeal to Sleep Powder.
  • Earthquake can be used over Sleep Powder in order to allow Tangrowth to threaten more damage onto the likes of Mega Metagross and Aegislash, as well as potentially surprising Heatran on the switch.
  • Rocky Helmet is used to chip down Pokemon such as Mega Metagross, Mega Lopunny, and Kartana.
  • A Relaxed Nature is preferred, as Tangrowth doesn't want to decrease either of its attacking stats and its speed is already very low.

Usage Tips
========

  • Don't be afraid to directly switch Tangrowth into physical attackers it is supposed to beat, such as Mega Lopunny and Mega Swampert. Do be wary of blundering into a stray Toxic, however, as that greatly inhibits its staying power against things it is supposed to beat. Zygarde should be mentioned; it's one of the main Pokemon that Tangrowth checks that commonly runs Toxic to cripple it. I'm not sure if either Mega Lopunny or Mega Swampert are great examples because they typically don't run Toxic and this bullet point insinuates they do and that it's common enough to worry about.
  • Knock Off is generally a very safe move to use on this set early game, as virtually nothing really wants to lose its item.
The player can't do a lot about what switches in. Presumably, it is a Pokemon that will try to take advantage of Tangrowth. Because of how little is in the player's hands, I don't think this is a worthwhile tip to mention. After putting something to sleep, pivot into a teammate that can take advantage of the situation, or use the opportunity to Knock Off another item.
  • Tangrowth's special bulk is mediocre at best, so avoid them at all costs unless it is one that you are confident that Tangrowth can deal with, such as Rotom-Wash. What is them referring to?

Team Options
========

  • Tangrowth is an excellent choice for balance teams that need a defensive backbone to back up their damage dealers. This does not give me a good idea of what teams Tangrowth fits best on. "to back up their damage dealers" is so incredibly unspecific it just doesn't help. Any balance team needs a defensive backbone. You should specifically mention that it fits best on teams looking for a sturdy Zygarde and Mega Metagross check.
How are you going to say Tangrowth needs a teammate with significant special bulk and then only mention Heatran? This doesn't give me a good general idea at all. Other Pokemon such as Gliscor and Mega Tyranitar should definitely be mentioned. Also, Stealth Rock does not make Heatran more notable as a teammate, so that's not worth noting.
  • Water-types in general pair very well with Tangrowth thanks to their great defensive synergy. Tapu Fini is a great partner that can check strong special attackers like Mega Blastoise, Heatran, and Ash-Greninja while also providing Defog and Misty Terrain support. Saying that Tangrowth can deal with Electric- and Ground-type attacks aimed at Toxapex is not worth a mention at all. Be more specific and mention the actual Pokemon you'd be switching Tangrowth into for Toxapex. Making a blanket statement like "Tangrowth can take Electric- and Ground-type attacks aimed at Toxapex" is like saying you should use Tangrowth as a Rotom-H or Zapdos check.
  • Tangrowth needs good hazard removal on its side, as it can be put in range of some of the tier's stronger breakers after hazard damage. Tapu Fini, Tornadus-Therian, and Rotom-Wash are all potentially good partners as a result. I'm not sure Rotom-W is really worth a mention here. It's relatively mediocre as a Defogger and another Pokemon like Excadrill would probably make more sense in its stead.

Set Description

  • Knock Off has the always useful benefit of removing items and scouting for Z-Moves, as well as being a generally safe move to throw out in most situations.
  • Hidden Power Ice hits Zygarde while still hitting Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor hard as well.
  • Earthquake is largely used to lure Heatran.
So why am I running Assault Vest?
  • A Sassy Nature is used so that Tangrowth can bolster its Special Defense while not impacting either of its attacking stats.

Usage Tips
========

  • Use Tangrowth to check Pokemon such as Mega-Blastoise, Zygarde, and Ash-Greninja. This isn't really worded like a usage tip and doesn't tell me much of value.
  • Use Knock Off liberally early game to scout for Z-Moves and cripple opposing Pokemon.
  • This set should aim to put Tangrowth's decent coverage to good use and deal heavy damage to Pokemon such as Zygarde, Gliscor, and Heatran.
  • Assault Vest Tangrowth needs to be played carefully, as it does not check or switch into a lot of what it is tasked with if it is not at near full health. Staying as healthy as possible is imperative in it's quest to deal with Mega Blastoise and Ash-Greninja. Play carefully to make sure that hazards are off the field of play before you send in Tangrowth to deal with these threats. This sentence is overstressed and makes it seem like there is absolutely no way you can switch Tangrowth into play when entry hazards are on the field. Obviously, that's not the case.
  • Be wary to not overestimate Assault Vest Tangrowth's bulk on either side of the spectrum. It's Physical bulk, while still impressive, can be broken through by powerful attackers like Mega Medicham, Swords Dance Aegislash, and Dracovish. It also can't actually deal with most powerful special attackers, as both Mega Blastoise and Ash Greninja can eventually overwhelm it. In one sentence, you have managed to completely ignore the purpose of Assault Vest Tangrowth. Tangrowth is actually a fairly solid Mega Blastoise check; if Mega Blastoise ever uses Shell Smash, it will be forced out. Discouraging Mega Blastoise from using Shell Smash is often enough to keep it in check as it doesn't get another opportunity very often. Tangrowth can indeed be overwhelmed by Ash-Greninja, but not if you're using a well-built team, so it doesn't really apply in practice.
  • Avoid Knock Off like the plague, as Tangrowth loses its ability to check threats such as Mega Blastoise if it loses its Assault Vest.

Team Options
========

  • Assault Vest Tangrowth finds its home on balance and bulky offense teams that need a solid defensive core to back up the rest of the squad. Once again, this does not tell me anything of value.
Tangrowth is not a good Mega Alakazam check without Power Whip or Payback by any means.
What's the excellent defensive synergy? Again, Heatran's ability to set Stealth Rock do not make it a more attractive option as a Tangrowth partner specifically, so it's not worth mentioning. Tangrowth, meanwhile, takes on Water-types such as Ash-Greninja and Rotom-Wash that aim to capitalize on Heatran's presence.
  • Assault Vest Tangrowth really appreciates hazard removal support, as it must be as healthy as possible if it aims to check what it is usually tasked with. Tapu Fini, Tornadus-Therian, and Corviknight make for good partners as a result. Tapu Fini is an especially good partner, as it aids Tangrowth in its quest to wall several special attackers by also taking care of Ash-Greninja and Mega Blastoise, while also gifting it Misty Terrain support. What? Tapu Fini's not a good partner. If you're running Tapu Fini, there's no need to run Assault Vest on Tangrowth and you will be better off with a physically defensive Tangrowth instead.
You need to stress that additional Zygarde checks are incredibly important. I'm also not seeing any explicit mentions of Dark-resistant Pokemon anywhere. They should be mentioned.

  • Energy Ball and Power Whip can be used over Giga Drain on the Assault Vest set; both of them guarantee an OHKO onto Mega Blastoise after a Shell Smash, while Power Whip is useful to put more pressure onto Mega Alakazam and Tapu Lele. Giga Drain's reliability and healing makes it preferable in most situations, however. Energy Ball doesn't always OHKO Mega Blastoise from full, just most of the time.
  • Sludge Bomb can be used over Sleep Powder or Earthquake to hit opposing Grass-types such as Tapu Bulu and Serperior, but most of them dislike Knock Off anyway or have a secondary typing that makes them immune to or has them damaged neutrally by the move.
  • Rock Slide can be used over Sleep Powder or Earthquake, as it nails Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Rotom-Heat, but Tangrowth's other moves tend to be more consistently useful.
  • Hidden Power Fire hits Ferrothorn, Kartana, Genesect, and Mega Scizor, but Hidden Power Ice is much too important to give up in most scenarios. If you do choose to run HP Fire, run Grass Knot so you can break Zygarde's substitute.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-Types**: Mega Charizard Y has the muscle to break past even Assault Vest Tangrowth and takes minimal damage from anything bar the extremely rare Rock Slide. The muscle. T H E M U S C L E. Rotom-Heat, Heatran, and Volcarona are all extremely threatening as well, but all of them dislike Knock Off, and Heatran has to be careful to not blunder into an Earthquake.

**Flying-Types**: Tornadus-Therian slams Tangrowth with Hurricane, and can use U-turn to pivot as it forces Tangrowth out. Hawlucha can break past with Acrobatics Brave Bird, and Flyinium Landorus-T can lure in and dispose of Tangrowth as it switches in, but it can't set up on it due to Hidden Power Ice.

Mention Knock Off.

[OVERVIEW]

Tangrowth makes use of its excellent bulk in conjunction with its decent defensive typing and access to Regenerator to become one of the best defensive pivots in National Dex. Tangrowth's typing and bulk allows it to check several extremely threatening breakers, such as Garchomp, Kartana, Rillaboom, and Dracovish with a physically defensive spread. Tangrowth's access to Knock Off allows it to cripple switch-ins such as Rotom-H and Volcarona, while packing useful coverage for huge threats such as Kartana and Heatran allows it to pull its weight in the vast majority of matchups. Unfortunately, Tangrowth's Grass-typing also gives it several exploitable weaknesses that can be taken advantage of by common Pokemon such as Mega Scizor, Volcarona, and Kyurem. It also doesn't hit especially hard if it isn't hitting something Super Effectively, which can be taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Corviknight, Mega Scizor, and Rotom-H. This leads to it being somewhat passive at times.

Set Description

Knock Off allows Tangrowth to cripple Pokemon reliant on their item such as Ferrothorn, Chansey, and Rotom-H, as well as scout for Z-moves. Hidden Power Ice hits Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Gliscor, allowing Tangrowth to threaten them with meaningful damage. Hidden Power Fire, on the other hand, allows Tangrowth to directly threaten Kartana as well as Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Sleep Powder gives Tangrowth the ability to put the enemy out of commission for a few turns, which can preserve momentum by allowing one of your Pokemon to set up, or preventing the opponent from doing so, in addition to preventing things such as Toxapex and Clefable from setting up hazards. It also punishes checks such as Heatran, Volcarona, and Rotom-H that might attempt to switch in and take advantage of Tangrowth. Mention Stun Spore here. Earthquake can be used over Sleep Powder in order to allow Tangrowth to threaten more damage onto the likes of Mega Mawile and Aegislash, as well as potentially surprising Heatran on the switch. Rocky Helmet is used to chip down Pokemon such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana, Dracovish, and Bisharp. A Relaxed Nature is preferred, as Tangrowth doesn't want to decrease either of its attacking stats and its speed is already very low.

Usage Tips
========

Don't be afraid to directly switch Tangrowth into physical attackers it is supposed to beat, such as Garchomp, Mega Lopunny and Mega Swampert. Knock Off is generally a very safe move to use on this set early game, as virtually nothing really wants to lose its item. This can also be used to let Tangrowth's team know where the opponents Z-Move is. Sleep Powder should usually be used after Tangrowth has forced something out in order to incapacitate what switches in. After putting something to sleep, pivot into a teammate that can take advantage of the situation, or use the opportunity to Knock Off another item. Tangrowth's special bulk is mediocre at best, so avoid special attackers at all costs unless it is one that you are confident that Tangrowth can deal with, such as Rotom-W. This last portion doesn’t feel too relevant, as people know that Tangrowth can naturally beat Rotom-W, and you are probably running a special pivot of some kind with Tangrowth anyway.

Team Options
========

Tangrowth is an excellent choice for balance teams that need a defensive backbone to back up their damage dealers and need a sturdy check to threats such as Garchomp and Mega Lopunny. Something with significant special bulk is appreciated, as Tangrowth really struggles with strong special attackers. Specially Defensive Heatran in particular has amazing defensive synergy with Tangrowth; Heatran beats threats to Tangrowth such as Mega Scizor, bulky Volcarona, and Dragapult not actually sure if this is true, as wisphex isnt on site and dd pult fodderizes tran, while Tangrowth returns the favor by dealing with Garchomp, Mega Metagross Mega Lopunny, and Dracovish. Other specially bulky Pokemon such as Mega Tyranitar Toxapex, Blissey, and Gliscor pair well with Tangrowth as well. Mega Tyranitar is an odd choice as a ”special wall” imo, especially with no Tornadus-T in the metagame. Toxapex provides a similar check to Fire-types and Ash-Greninja. Water-types in general pair very well with Tangrowth thanks to their great defensive synergy. Tapu Fini is another fantastic partner that can check strong special attackers like Heatran and Hydreigon while also providing Defog and Misty Terrain support. Why would Tangrowth want either of these things? In return, Tangrowth can check threats such as Kartana and Garchomp that are potentially threatening to Tapu Fini. The aforementioned Toxapex also pairs well with Tangrowth, as it has good type synergy with Tangrowth while having considerably more bulk on the Special side, all the while forming a difficult to break Renegerator core. Tangrowth needs good hazard removal on its side, as it can be put in range of some of the tier's stronger breakers after hazard damage. Zapdos, Tapu Fini, and Excadrill are all potentially good partners as a result.

An Assault Vest set can be used to turn Tangrowth into a Specially bulky pivot. This is rather outclassed by other options, however, most notably Blissey, who is immune to the Spikes and Stealth Rock that Assault Vest Tangrowth fears. In addition, Blissey is a better overall check to Pokemon such as Heatran, Mega Latias, and Mega Charizard Y. Mention Infestation + Worry Seed here. Sludge Bomb can be used over Sleep Powder to hit opposing Grass-types such as Serperior, opposing Tangrowth, and Rillaboom, but most of them dislike Knock Off anyway or have a secondary typing that makes them immune to or has them damaged neutrally by the move. Rock Slide can be used over Sleep Powder, as it nails Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, Cinderace, and Rotom-H as they switch in, but Tangrowth's other moves tend to be more consistently useful.

Checks and Counters

**Fire-Types**: Mega Charizard Y easily breaks through Tangrowth and takes minimal damage from anything bar the extremely rare Rock Slide. Rotom-H, Heatran, Pyro Ball Cinderace I’m pretty sure Bulk Up sets do fine as well, and Volcarona are all extremely threatening as well, but all of them dislike Knock Off, and Heatran and Cinderace have to be careful to not blunder into an Earthquake.

**Flying-Types**: Flyinium Landorus-T can lure in and dispose of Tangrowth as it switches in, but it can't set up on it due to the threat of Hidden Power Ice. Mega Pinsir can also use its STAB Return to bust through Tangrowth. I would also mention that Tangrowth can’t touch more defensive Flying-types in Zapdos and Corviknight.

**Bug-types** Mega Scizor and Volcarona all threaten Tangrowth with their STAB moves, and Mega Scizor can gain momentum with U-turn. Mega Scizor Both can set up on Tangrowth assuming that Sleep Powder has been used. They Mega Scizor must watch out for Hidden Power Fire, however, and Volcarona doesn't want to eat a Rock Slide.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Tangrowth's meager Special Bulk means that strong Special attackers, such as Hydreigon, Kyurem, Mega Latias, and Magearna can all break through it with relative ease, although they must watch out for Sleep Powder and coverage moves, and they should confirm that the Tangrowth is not a rarer Assault Vest variant.

[SET COMMENTS]
Tangrowth's immense physical bulk in conjunction with Regenerator makes it a very sturdy check to Pokemon such as Landorus-T without Flyinium Z, Rillaboom, Kartana, Tyranitar, and Mega Lopunny. you should specify landorus-t without fly z because tangrowth is a pretty awful check otherwise It also has access to useful utility moves such as Sleep Powder and Knock Off, which can be used to punish Pokemon such as Heatran, Zapdos, and Kyurem that would switch in rather freely otherwise. Unfortunately, Tangrowth must contest with the fact that it doesn't effectively deal with some very common physical attackers, such as Cinderace, Mega Scizor, and Weavile, and its terrible special bulk leaves it open to Future Sight strategies even if it's trying to check something its usually good against i don't think this point is focusing on the right area, its special bulk lets it get blasted by every neutral special attack, not just future sight, i feel you should just state it outright here and give some examples . It is also rather passive if it isn't hitting the opponent super effectively. Knock Off allows Tangrowth to remove items from the likes of Pokemon that dislike having their item removed, such as Ferrothorn, Toxapex, Slowbro, and Tapu Fini. Hidden Power Ice is the preferred last move to deal big damage to Landorus-T and Garchomp while also forcing Gliscor to spam Roost in order to stay alive. Hidden Power Fire can also be used, however, as it allows Tangrowth to force immediate damage onto Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Kartana. Sleep Powder allows Tangrowth to put an opponent out of commission completely, therefore giving a teammate a free switch and temporarily neutralizing a threat such as Mega Latias, Corviknight, or Clefable. Earthquake can be used over Sleep Powder to surprise reckless Cinderace, Heatran, and Tapu Koko on the switch. Rocky Helmet allows Tangrowth to chip down physical attackers such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Mawile, and Kartana, therefore making Tangrowth less passive overall. A Relaxed Nature is preferred, as Tangrowth doesn't want to decrease either of its attacking stats and its Speed is already very low.

Tangrowth fits on balance teams that need a very sturdy check to physical attackers such as Mega Lopunny, Kartana, and Rillaboom. Tangrowth has the unfortunate distinction of being a physical wall that is incapable of properly checking Cinderace. This can be remedied via a defensive Ground-type, such as defensive Landorus-T, bulky Garchomp, or Gliscor, as they are capable of taking on Cinderace and easily wearing it down in the case of the former two. just saying lando-t is pretty unspecific because there are multiple lando-t sets with different purposes, just say defensive lando here Said Ground-types are also capable of blocking Volt Switch from the likes of Tapu Koko, Magearna, and Magnezone, as Tangrowth is not a suitable check to any of these on its own. Tangrowth's special bulk is meager, so having a very bulky specially defensive wall is recommended. Heatran pairs well with Tangrowth, as it can take on threats such as Magearna, Defensive Zapdos, Life Orb Clefable, and Tapu Lele. Tapu Fini also pairs well with Tangrowth due to it taking care of Heatran and Ash-Greninja, while Blissey can also act as a general sponge to Magearna, Ash-Greninja, Kyurem, Tapu Koko, and Hydreigon. These teammates appreciate Tangrowth taking care of dangerous physical attackers, such as Landorus-T, Gliscor, Mega Lopunny, and Rillaboom. Tangrowth needs good hazard removal on its side, as it can be put in range of some of the tier's stronger breakers after hazard damage. Tangrowth's immense physical bulk in conjunction with Regenerator makes it a very sturdy check to Pokemon such as Rillaboom, Kartana, Tyranitar, Mega Lopunny, and Landorus-T without Flyinium Z. It also has access to useful utility moves such as Sleep Powder and Knock Off, which can be used to punish Pokemon such as Heatran, Zapdos, and Kyurem that would switch in rather freely otherwise. Unfortunately, Tangrowth must contest with the fact that it doesn't effectively deal with some very common physical attackers, such as Victini, Mega Scizor, and Weavile, and its terrible special bulk leaves it open to threats such as Kyurem, Tapu Lele, Life Orb Clefable, and Ash-Greninja -Heatran / Magearna / Mega Charizard Y are more important mentions than Ash-Greninja, since Ash-Greninja can't afford to switch in-. It is also rather passive if it isn't hitting the opponent super effectively -this isn't really correct because Knock Off and Sleep Powder can go a long way in forcing progress-. -important to mention that Tangrowth can be overwhelmed by strong wallbreakers like Z-Dragon Garchomp / Z-Normal Kartana / Mega Medicham / Swords Dance Mega Mawile / Z-Excadrill etc. due to lack of reliable recovery- Knock Off allows Tangrowth to remove items from the likes of Pokemon that dislike having their item removed common switch-ins such as Ferrothorn, Toxapex, Slowbro, and Tapu Fini -these examples are poor; Ferrothorn / Slowbro / Tapu Fini aren't switching into a Tangrowth if they can avoid it. Consider mentioning Heatran / Zapdos / Corviknight / Magearna etc.- . Hidden Power Ice is the preferred last coverage move to deal big damage to Landorus-T and Garchomp while also forcing Gliscor to spam Roost in order to stay alive -this isn't entirely accurate; Gliscor is forced to Roost because of Giga Drain. Hidden Power Ice just initiates the sequence-. Hidden Power Fire can also be used, however, as it allows Tangrowth to force immediate damage onto Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Kartana -missing out on crippling Ground-types is a pretty large drawback, be sure to mention that-. Sleep Powder allows Tangrowth to put an opponent out of commission completely temporarily, therefore giving a teammate a free switch and temporarily neutralizing punishing a threat such as Mega Latias, Corviknight, or Clefable. Earthquake can be used over Sleep Powder to surprise reckless Cinderace, Magearna, Heatran, and Tapu Koko on the switch -checks Excadrill better too-. -Sleep Powder is really important so I'd rather have Earthquake in Other Options- Rocky Helmet allows Tangrowth to chip down physical attackers such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Mawile, and Kartana, therefore making Tangrowth less passive overall.

Ground-types work well with Tangrowth, as they appreciate Tangrowth taking on Water- and Grass-types like Rillaboom, Kartana, and Mega Swampert. Ground-types are also capable of blocking Volt Switch from the likes of Tapu Koko, Magearna, and Magnezone, as Tangrowth is not a suitable check to any of these on its own -this is very vague, you should give examples of some Ground-types and explicitly mention what Pokemon are checked by Ground-types in Tangrowth's favor (eg. Gliscor / Garchomp check Heatran etc.)- . Tangrowth's special bulk is meager, so having a very bulky specially defensive wall is recommended. Specially defensive Heatran pairs well with Tangrowth, as it can take on threats such as Magearna, Defensive Zapdos, Life Orb Clefable, and Tapu Lele. Tapu Fini also pairs well with Tangrowth due to it taking care of Heatran and Ash-Greninja, while Blissey can also act as a general sponge to Magearna, Ash-Greninja, Kyurem, Tapu Koko, and Hydreigon Mega Charizard Y -would definitely mention Slowking and Mega Tyranitar in favor of Tapu Fini-. These teammates appreciate Tangrowth taking care of dangerous physical attackers, such as Landorus-T, Gliscor, Mega Lopunny, and Rillaboom. Tangrowth needs good entry hazard removal on its side, as it can be put in range of some of the tier's stronger breakers after entry hazard damage -what breakers?-. Zapdos, Tapu Fini Corviknight, and Excadrill are all potentially good partners as a result.
  • mention checks to physical attackers that beat Tangrowth (Weavile, Mega Charizard X, Victini, Mega Scizor etc.)
  • wallbreakers / setup sweepers that can take advantage of Sleep Powder should also be mentioned
  • backup checks + speed control is crucial for stuff like Z-Move Garchomp / Excadrill / Kartana / Landorus-T + Mega Mawile / Mega Medicham / Melmetal etc.
  • Stealth Rock support is incredibly important to outlast / punish Fire-types, Zapdos after Knock Off, and Ice-types

**Flying-Types**: Flyinium Landorus-T can lure in and dispose of Tangrowth as it switches in, but it can't set up on it due to the threat of Hidden Power Ice. Hawlucha, Offensive Zapdos, and Mega Pinsir can also use their STAB moves to break through Tangrowth. Tangrowth also can't do much to defensive Flying-types like Corviknight and Zapdos except for potentially put them to Sleep -this isn't true, Knock Off cripples them well enough-.

-where's the Ice-type coverage?-

**Strong Special Attackers**: Tangrowth's meager Special Bulk special bulk means that strong Special special attackers, such as Magearna, Kyurem, and Tapu Lele can all break through it with relative ease, although they must watch out for Sleep Powder and coverage moves, and they should confirm that the Tangrowth is not a rarer Assault Vest variant. The lack of special bulk also leaves Tangrowth wide open to Future Sight from the likes of Slowbro and Slowking, which can prevent it from effectively dealing with physical attackers like Mega Lopunny and Tyranitar.

-there are some hard counters to Tangrowth, most notably Amoonguss, Mega Venusaur, and Mega Sableye; they are mention-worthy too-

move 4: Sleep Powder
item: Rocky Helmet
ability: Regenerator
nature: Relaxed
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Tangrowth's immense physical bulk in conjunction with Regenerator makes it a very sturdy check to Pokemon such as Rillaboom, Kartana, Tyranitar -this matchup is still pretty dangerous since Choice Band Tyranitar can 2HKO with Stone Edge after Sandstorm chip and ignores Rocky Helmet on top of that-, Mega Lopunny, and Landorus-T without Flyinium Z. It also has access to useful utility moves such as Sleep Powder and Knock Off, which can be used to punish Pokemon such as Heatran, Zapdos, and Kyurem that would switch in rather freely otherwise. Unfortunately, Tangrowth must contest with the fact that it doesn't effectively deal with some very common physical attackers, such as Victini, Mega Scizor, and Weavile, and its terrible special bulk leaves it open to threats such as Kyurem, Tapu Lele, Life Orb Clefable, Heatran, and Magearna. A lack of reliable recovery also leaves it open to very powerful physical wallbreakers such as Dragonium Z Garchomp, Mega Mawile, and Mega Medicham. (AP) Knock Off allows Tangrowth to remove items from the likes of Pokemon that dislike having their item removed -you forgot to implement the change here-, such as Heatran, Zapdos, and Magearna. Hidden Power Ice is the preferred coverage move to deal big damage to Landorus-T and Garchomp while also working together with Giga Drain to force Gliscor to spam Roost in order to stay alive. Hidden Power Fire can also be used, however, as it allows Tangrowth to force immediate damage onto Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Kartana, but losing pressure on the aforementioned Ground-types is very detrimental. Sleep Powder allows Tangrowth to put an opponent out of commission completely, therefore giving a teammate a free switch and punishing a threat such as Mega Latias, Corviknight, or Clefable.

Ground-types work well with Tangrowth, as they appreciate Tangrowth taking on Water- and Grass-types like Rillaboom, Kartana, and Mega Swampert. Ground-types are also capable of blocking Volt Switch from the likes of Tapu Koko, Magearna, and Magnezone, as Tangrowth is not a suitable check to any of these on its own without Assault Vest. Examples such as Garchomp and Gliscor work well to check the aforementioned while also switching into Heatran. These Ground-types can also set Stealth Rock, which is important for Tangrowth as it allows its team to better pressure dangerous Fire-types such as Mega Charizard Y, Victini, and Heatran. Tangrowth's special bulk is meager, so having a very bulky specially defensive wall is recommended. Specially defensive Heatran pairs well with Tangrowth, as it can take on threats such as Magearna, Zapdos, Life Orb Clefable, and Tapu Lele. Mega Tyranitar can also help Tangrowth out against Heatran, Reuniclus, and Mega Latias. Slowking can deal with threats such as Heatran and Tapu Lele. Tapu Fini also pairs well with Tangrowth due to it taking care of Ash-Greninja as well as Heatran, while Blissey can also act as a general sponge to Magearna, Ash-Greninja, Kyurem, Tapu Koko, and Mega Charizard Y. These teammates appreciate Tangrowth taking care of dangerous physical attackers, such as Landorus-T, Gliscor, Mega Lopunny, and Rillaboom. Tangrowth needs good hazard removal on its side, as it can be put in range of some of the tier's stronger breakers, such as Weavile and Swords Dance Mega Mawile after hazard damage. Zapdos, Tapu Fini, and Excadrill are all potentially good partners as a result. Additional checks to physical attackers Tangrowth can't deal with are also beneficial; Toxapex or Tapu Fini can take care of Weavile -Tapu Fini is a pretty poor check to Weavile- , while Corviknight can work with a Ground-type revenge killer that can finish off Ground-types, such as Weavile and Ash-Greninja, to deal with Swords Dance variants of Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Gliscor. Teammates that appreciate Sleep Powder giving them a set up opportunity also work well with Tangrowth; teammates such as Garchomp and Swords Dance Mega Mawile work in this regard.

Other Options
=============

An Assault Vest set can be used with fully invested HP and Special Defense to turn Tangrowth into a Specially specially bulky pivot. This is rather outclassed by other options, however, most notably Blissey and Slowking, who are immune to the Spikes and Stealth Rock that Assault Vest Tangrowth fears. In addition, Slowking and Blissey are better overall checks to Pokemon such as Heatran and Magearna, while Blissey in particular helps out against Mega Latias and -Slowking does too- Mega Charizard Y. A set utilizing Infestation and Worry Seed can trap passive Pokemon such as Toxapex and Alomomola and potentially remove them, while Worry Seed allows this set to trap Gliscor and remove its Poison Heal -you should just focus on Gliscor here, since that's really the most important factor when using Infestation + Worry Seed; you don't trap Toxapex since it outstalls you with Toxic / Haze + Recover, nor will you really get the opportunity to trap Alomomola for obvious reasons- . This allows Tangrowth to more easily run Hidden Power Fire. Earthquake can be used over Sleep Powder to surprise Magearna, Heatran, Excadrill, and Tapu Koko on the switch -Excadrill isn't really switching into you, Earthquake just gives you a better means of checking it-. Sludge Bomb can be used over Sleep Powder to hit opposing Grass-types such as Rillaboom, opposing Tangrowth, and Serperior, but most of them dislike Knock Off and Hidden Power Ice anyway or have a secondary typing that makes them immune to or has them damaged neutrally by the move. Rock Slide can be used over Sleep Powder, as it nails Mega Charizard Y, Moltres, and Volcarona as they switch in, but Tangrowth's other moves tend to be more consistently useful. Stun Spore can also be used to push paralysis onto threats such as Mega Charizard Y, Heatran, and Corviknight.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-Types**: Mega Charizard Y easily breaks through Tangrowth and takes minimal damage from anything bar the extremely rare Rock Slide. Mega Charizard X, Heatran, Victini, and Moltres are threatening as well, but they dislike Knock Off -Mega Charizard X doesn't mind Knock Off-, and the former three have to be careful to not blunder into an Earthquake.

**Flying-Types**: Flyinium Landorus-T can lure in and dispose of Tangrowth as it switches in, but it can't set up on it due to the threat of Hidden Power Ice. Hawlucha, Offensive Zapdos -doesn't need to be offensive to threaten Tangrowth- , and Mega Pinsir can also use their STAB moves to break through Tangrowth. Tangrowth also can't do much to defensive Flying-types like Corviknight and Zapdos except for remove their item or potentially put them to Sleep.

Ice-type coverage from Clefable and Mega Latias -poor example, you won't switch into Clefable if you can help it; consider mentioning Slowbro or Tapu Koko instead- can also prove problematic.

**Grass-types**: Mega Venusaur completely walls Tangrowth and can threaten it with Sludge Bomb. Amoonguss doesn't love taking Knock Off but also effortlessly forces out Tangrowth. Offensive Grass-types wielding Z-Moves, such as Kartana and Rillaboom, are also capable of taking care of Tangrowth once they boost up. -I wouldn't mention Z-Move Rillaboom in an analysis; you could add Serperior to this section too-

**Mega Sableye**: Mega Sableye takes virtually no damage from any of Tangrowth's standard moves, denies progress-making by absorbing Knock Off and Sleep Powder, and proceeds to cripple it with a burn.
